    First of all, thank you SimplySxy for even choosing to interview me in the first place. To everyone who is reading this, hi! I’m Ashley So Chan from Manila, Philippines. Graduated with my Master’s Degree in Management from University of Asia and the Pacific back in 2018. Formerly a theater actress and radio DJ and now an events host and a businesswoman.

    How did you get started into hosting events and being a theater actor?

    I started joining theater workshops at the young age of four and it didn’t take long for me to fall in love with performing onstage. To be honest with you guys, theater was something my mother pushed me into doing so it wasn’t “love at first sight”. While all my friends were traveling with their families and enjoying their summer break, I was enrolled into theater camp and this went on every summer for nine years straight. When I turned 12, I finally joined theater professionally and landed the role of Brigitta in Repertory Philippine’s The Sound of Music back in 2006.

    I would say that theater has made the biggest impact in my life, to the point where I do not think I would be the same person I am now without it.

    Hosting events on the other hand is something I learned after I auditioned to be a student radio jock for Magic 89.9 back in sophomore year of college. I’ve always been the type who “NEEDED” to do something artistic to feed my soul. So, not having the time to pursue theater in college, I thought, why not radio? I mean, radio pretty much checked out all my “boxes”. It was literally playing good music, a performance every single time you turn on that microphone, and it’s a passion driven art. So back in 2014, my friend Michael and I decided to audition and thankfully we both got in!

    Which is a memorable or unforgettable experience you have had that you can share with us?

    I don’t have one in particular but I’d say I’m a very sentimental person. When my boyfriend travels, he sends me postcards from every city he visits, with personal handwritten notes. As cliché as it sounds, it was honestly such a memorable series of movie-like moments.

    What is the best compliment you have received?

    The biggest compliment would probably be when someone told me that they got inspired to go to graduate school because of me. She graduated with her Master’s Degree last 2018 and even sent me her graduation photos. I always appreciate it when my friends compliment me on my looks or outfit but this one hit me hard.

    What are 3 fun sights you recommend to tourists to take in when visiting your country?

    Boracay preferably if you plan to take a trip with your friends. El Nido, I’d say for your special someone and Palawan or Siargao to bring your whole family. Better yet, bring everyone in this list to all the places. The Philippines truly has so much to offer. From food, culture, and sightseeing.

    On a scale of 1-10, how much of an adrenaline junkie are you?

    I would give myself a 7. I always have to “try everything once” but after making sure it’s safe for me to do. Haha skydiving and bungee jumping is definitely on the bucket list. I usually say yes to anything thrilling and adventurous. Well, if someone is willing to do it with me.

    Would you rather have the power to control objects or animals?

    I love animals too much to want the power to control them so I’ll go with the power to control objects. Just imagine all the insane things you can do if you had telekinesis? Since you guys did not give me any limit to my power, first line of business is that I would stop buying fuel for my car and just control the wheels to move. #MaximumSavings

    What turns you off on a date?

    Someone who keeps talking about superficial things like looks, money, and achievements.

    What inspires your fashion style and where do you love to shop from?

    Simple but elegant style, in short, classic! I love shopping at Zara, Forever 21, Bershka, and Topshop. 

    Do you follow a regular workout or beauty regime?

    Both, actually. I make sure I work out three or four times a week. I usually use a cleanser, toner, day and night moisturizer and sunblock for my face. I also take a beauty collagen every morning.

    How is a typical day like for you?

    I’m hustling hard this year. I usually work all day, every day, mix of tasks in different companies. I work in marketing for ATV Adventures Rizal and eKart Philippines, and I help in the family business, Tierra De Lago, a natural hot-spring resort in Los Banos, Laguna. Also, am a Co-Founder of Go Buko.

    What have you always wanted to do or learn but have yet to find the time for it?

    I’ve always wanted to take an MBA degree.

    Have you been in an embarrassing situation before that is funny now when looking back?

    Yes, let’s not talk about the past. Hahah!  

    Would you rather be able to play every musical instrument or master every type of sport?

    I’d rather master every type of sport so I could feel active and healthy!

    What do you not get about guys?

    When they say, they don’t like fake tits or butts but they like every photo and videos of those.

    I’m a flight attendant by profession, a model and aspiring entrepreneur by passion. I am also a social media influencer who loves to share fragments of life interests which includes food, travel, lifestyle, fashion and hobbies. 

    How is your fashion style like and where do you draw inspiration from?

    As for my fashion style, I would say that it’s a “Mix and Match”. I always try to keep up with the trends, I sometime draw inspiration from other influencers, celebrities or other model friends that I know of. I also love to keep it simple, decent yet at the same time, classy and sexy. 

    Do you follow a beauty regime to look so beautiful?

    There’s no specific beauty regime that I actually follow. I just make sure that I have proper hygiene. I clean my face, I eat healthy food, drink collagen and lots of vitamin C. I also keep my face moisturized and protected by a sunscreen whenever I go out. I only wear make up if I have to (I use hypoallergenic cosmetics because of my sensitive skin), then I remove my make up right after my day ends 🙂

    Which is the best compliment you have received?

    Best compliment, most of the time is whenever my friends tell me that I look younger than my age. When some people are telling me that I’m very talented, that I’m not only “looks” but I also have brains.

    What are 3 fun things you like to do in the city you live in?

    Since I’m a newbie in this place as I just transferred here a few months ago, due to the pandemic it became limited for me to maximize my activities here.

    But I would say that it became a habit for me to go out, buy some food and shop for some groceries.

    I love to hang out with my best friend who lives near me, meet some new neighbors, and have a little chat with them. And if there’s ample time we go out, for some pampering and a ladies day out.

    The last thing that I love here is that I can relax and stay at home. I can paint, make some poems overlooking in my terrace seeing trees. I just love the “nature vibes” in this place, and I can have my “me-time” peacefully.

    Which are your favorite quotes or mottos you like to use for inspiration?

    I have lots of favorite quotes in life, but my most favorite of all is that “You don’t have to be good to start. You just need to start.” I’ve been through a lot of challenges and admittedly, I failed at lots of them. But I always keep in mind that if I want to achieve something, I’ll never know the result unless I’ll try doing it. I’ll just take the risk and start…even if I’m not actually good at it.

    Would you rather have the power to control minds or teleport?

    As a flight attendant, I love travelling. I would do anything just to visit the places that I haven’t been to. If I’ll have the power to teleport, I can definitely do that for sure without breaking my own bank account and wallet haha. If I could just go there in a snap, I’ll bring my love ones with me, take some pictures wearing my new OOTDs, eat their delicacies and learn their culture. I would love to do that everyday. 

    What do you not get about guys?

    What I do not get about guys is their pride and ego. I mean, not all of them are full of pride and ego. I admit that I had my own share of pride when I was in a relationship. It’s just that as per experience, we always end up in an argument because of them not admitting their own mistakes. They don’t share their true feelings because they feel like it’ll show weakness for them as a ‘man’ (and its definitely not a definition of a man). 

    For me it’ll be a lot easier to understand them if they can also be open about their thoughts and be more compassionate to fix an issue.

    For me, being sexy is just being you. Be natural. I mean by loving yourself, being happy about who or what u are. Be “confident”, for me that’s very sexy. Regardless of your size, vital statistics, your complexion or flaws. The person’s aura or glow for me is more appealing than their own physique.

    What is your proudest achievement so far?

    Interviewing Shah Rukh Khan and seeing myself on a billboard were two incredibly surreal achievements. 10 year old Shivani wouldn’t believe you if you told her that would happen one day.

    How will you describe your fashion style?

    Moody. I could happily live in sweatpants and oversized t-shirts but also slip into a glam desi lengha with as much ease. All depends on my mood.

    Can you share a typical day like for yourself?

    No day looks the same and I love that! You’ll find me shooting content one day and sitting behind a laptop for hours on end the next. 

    Do you have any hobbies or interests?

    Many! Does sleeping count haha? But in all seriousness, I enjoy playing cards and board games with my family and friends. Dancing is another hobby I’ve loved since I was two years old! I don’t always make time for it, but the feeling while performing can be addictive. 

    If you could change one thing in this world, what will it be?

    Many social issues I feel passionately towards such as racism, gender inequality, poverty etc in my opinion are tied to a root cause being a lack of empathy. If we all tried to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes, I believe we would create a more unified world. But re-adding the Mexican Pizza to Taco Bell’s menu may be the first step!!!! #jokes

    Do you believe in any superstition?

    I have worn this red dress for the first day of any new internship or job opportunity since 2014. It’s not necessarily superstitious, but I wear it for tradition’s sake!

    What quotes or mottos do you like to use to motivate yourself?

    “If it was easy, everyone would do it”

    To me, sexy has nothing to do with external factors like makeup or clothing. It has everything to do with being unabashedly yourself, no matter who is in the room. It’s the confidence to embrace who you are, despite what society or your peers have told you to be like.

    10!! I love to eat! I can actually have five cups of rice in Mang Inasal. 

    If you could have a superpower, what will it be?

    A superpower just like what superman has. I want to save people who are in danger.

    Do you believe in any superstition?

    Yes, one of them is when you get lost while driving or walking somewhere, the solution is to reverse your clothes to find your way.

    Have you been in an embarrassing situation that is funny now when looking back?

    I have a lot of embarrassing moments:

    Elementary: I used the restroom for gentlemen, everyone was looking at me and that time, I didn’t care. I thought it was a restroom for everybody.

    Highschool: In a public transportation (Jeepney), Instead of saying “Para”, I shouted “Fried Chicken” to make the driver stop. I was really hungry and thinking of Jollibee.

    College: I was present for almost one hour in a class that wasn’t really my class. I was absent for a week starting our first day of classes and I didn’t know who my classmates are. 

    Would you rather read a book or watch a movie?

    Both! I like reading and I also love watching movies! Especially K-dramas.

    What turns you off on a date?

    Major turn-off:

    If its our first date, If he keeps on scrolling his phone for unnecessary things, I’ll hate it. But when we’re dating for almost a month, It doesn’t matter anymore as long as you still open a conversation with me.

    My fashion style is minimalism.

    I prefer to wear simple and comfortable clothing but it doesn’t mean that I don’t care about my attire. It’s all about doing more with less.

    I prefer shopping from Taobao as their selection is constantly updated and the prices are extremely affordable. 

    If you could learn anything in this world, what will it be?

    I would like to learn psychology because I like to explore the emotional experiences of others. 

    On a scale of 1-10, how much of a party animal are you?

    I would rate myself 6-7. I like to party but I also enjoy the occasional quiet night at home. 

    Would you rather have the ability to fly or talk to animals?

    I would prefer the ability to fly as I’m an explorer. I’m very curious about the world so with the ability to fly, I’m able to visit and experience what the world offers.

    Do you believe in any superstition?

    I’m not a superstitious person but I do believe that there are spirits and beings in this world.

    What is a funny or lame attempt a guy has tried to get to know you?

    During secondary school, someone bought a ticket to a concert from me just to have a picture with me.

    If you could time travel, what will you like to witness?

    I am a little bit of a control freak so I definitely would love to see the future me.

    How is a typical day like for yourself?

    After I wake up, the first thing I check would definitely be Instagram, then my stocks and emails. I walk my boys (Alaskan Klee Kai) 2 times a day, feed them and then usually run errands or get any appointments done during the day before traffic hits and then spend usually 1.5 hr to 2 hrs on my work out. I work from home so I spend usually few hours on the computer and see clients if I need to.

    On a scale of 1-10, how much of an adventurer are you?

    I wouod say I’m a 7.

    Does chivalry still exist today?

    I don’t think so. Lol.

    I specialize in lingerie.

    Do you follow a regular beauty or exercise regime?

    To be honest I get this question a lot, but I have to say I don’t do anything special. I don’t exercise or follow a certain diet or beauty routine. I think less is more.

    How will you describe a typical day like for yourself?

    It really depends. I have 2-3 photoshoots per week. Besides photoshoots, I handle orders from Be Glamourous two times a week.

    Is there a place or city you have always wanted to travel to for a holiday?

    I really want to go to the Bahamas to swim with pigs.

    If you could have a superpower, what will it be?

    I really want to be invisible, so I can spy on everyone 🙂

    What is a funny or lame attempt a guy has tried to know you?

    There are so many lame attempts, I think men shouldn’t try so hard. Just be yourself.

    Hey! I am Anita Naoko and I am half Swedish and half Japanese. I grew up in Sweden but moved to Tanzania when I was 17 and lived there for a couple of years before moving to Japan where I currently live now. I am a mother to a two year old boy and I love to travel and just create things with my hands. Anything from baking a sourdough bread to sewing or painting!

    What inspires your fashion style?

    Oh, so many things! Nowadays the most important thing is that it’s comfortable and practical. Since becoming a mother I don’t ever wanna feel restricted by my clothes, I gotta be able to get down and dirty with my son or be able to pick him up when he asks for it.

    At the same time it’s still important for me to feel like myself and dress up though, so it’s all about finding that balance. Apart from the must of the clothes being practical, Tokyo, where I live, is definitely an inspiration. There are so many people with unique styles and cools shops to browse through so it’s almost hard not to get inspired.

    How did the idea of starting Shopsilkes come about?

    I have always loved to create things but it has always been something I just do for myself. When the corona situation worsened over here, I got a lot of time to both think but also to spend at home. I wanted to create something that could maybe one day be a stepping stone to turn my passions into businesses.

    I love fashion, I love vintage, I love luxury and I love to create things. Silkes is a combination of all that. In a time when we all should be more cautious with our fashion purchases and the impact it has on the environment, I decided that instead of creating something brand new, I will source authentic vintage high end scarves and repurpose them into hair accessories. This is a way for people to get something new and luxurious to wear but at a lower cost both for their wallets and the planet.

    What other hobbies and interests do you have?

    A big passion of mine is art. I love to paint and recently I created an Instagram called @BagTheBeast just for my art. I paint on vintage Louis Vuitton bags and who knows, maybe this can become another business of mine in the future?

    Do you have a sweet tooth?

    So boring but I don’t really eat too much sweets. Maybe some chocolate during that time of the month but otherwise I am more of a savory person.

    If you could have a superpower, what will it be?

    Hard one. It would either be something selfish like stopping time so I could enjoy my little boy for longer or I would choose something like reversing the climate crisis or something like that. Haha I realize that both these answers are boring, but I am pretty happy with who I am right now without any superpowers.

    What 3 fun things do you love to do in the city you live in?

    I’m a sucker for a good coffee so first thing I always do when I get into town is hit up one of the cafes! If not coffee, I also love to go for some bubble tea.

    Tokyo has some of the most interesting shops in the world so I usually narrow down to one of all the shopping districts depending on what Im looking for or feel like seeing and then I can spend hours there just browsing.

    I am also always on the lookout for a new good restaurant. Japan has the best food and the number of restaurants here is endless. I never head in to Tokyo without having a good meal!

    What do you not get about guys?

    Honestly, I kinda feel like I have them all figured out haha. Am I allowed to say that?

    Do you have any hobbies or interests?

    My hobbies are swimming, taking pretty photos, cycling and outdoor activities.

    What inspires your fashion style?

    Good taste will never go out of style. It is better to regret the things you wear than regret the things you didn’t wear. Do not mind other’s people perception on you, and just be yourself. Wear anything you like and am comfortable with. Style is a form of expression and also a way to share your information to people around you.

    For me, I like to wear a short t-shirt and a pair of long jeans. Mostly I like to wear black, white, sky blue, and pink. These colours make me feel simple, easy, tidy, and beautiful looking!

    Which beauty products do you use regularly?

    For me, I love my skin so much and I really protect my skin so I have more variety of beauty products. My beauty products, some come from Beauty Salons, which isn’t sold on the market, and some are from the market. My favorite beauty products are brands such as Clarena, Cellbone, Am Skin Care, EGF, Clinelle and others. 

    How will you describe a typical day like for yourself?

    I try to stay positive always and read more about positive things, so I will be positive and always remember to smile to the mirror and smile to all your friends, family and others.

    Is there a place or city you have always wanted to travel to for a visit?

    I would like to travel to Taiwan. Taiwan is the best place for me to communicate. The Taiwanese are so kind and they’re so lovely. There are more night markets and it something all teenagers would like. Taipei is the place most people would like to go. There is so much fun there. Hopefully, one day I will travel over there for a holiday. 

    Do you believe in any superstition?

    No, but in Chinese tradition, there are some who do believe. Such as my grandma, she believes in superstition.

    What is an ideal first date to you?

    My ideal first date would be to have dinner with a beautiful scenery with my loved one.

    I find those who are brainy sexy! Although looks play quite an important role, but I feel that the way a person carries him/herself is more important!

    “Sexy” comes from personal confidence, passion, kindness and intelligence. Personal confidence can be shown through eye contact, a strong and purposeful walk, and a welcoming smile.
