Hi Lidia, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hello! My name is Lidia Win. I am half Vietnamese and half Chinese. I was born in Chinatown – Los Angeles – I know I’m super Asian lol. I graduated from ASU with a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry in 2014 and I own several businesses.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I would say my style is ‘Urban Glam’. During the days I like to dress very comfortably. My daily outfits usually involve a fresh pair of sneakers with some baggy joggers and a crop top. I absolutely love getting dolled up- my night life attire involves flashy dresses and some killer heels.

Where did your interest in makeup start?

It started in high school. I grew up pretty much a tomboy and one year I decided I needed to “learn how to be a girl” lol. I started watching YouTube tutorials and saw all the crazy face paint that the gurus would do. I was amazed and started practicing on myself.

What makeup products should every lady own?

I can’t leave the house with out my eyebrows so I would say the dip brow pomade from Anastasia Beverly Hills. Also a good mascara, I personally like Too Faced “better than Sex” mascara.

Do you have any other hobbies?

I have tons! I love working out – I have a trainer for strength training and I like doing pilates as well. I also like food blogging because food is life.

What is the funniest thing that has happened to you?

OMG lol. So I came home one night running to the bathroom due to food poisoning and when I finally felt better I passed out- forgetting to lock our apartment door. Mind you I am like hitler when it comes to locking our door- I’ve locked my roommate out a few times . Anyways around 5am, I hear things being knocked off of my tv stand. I wake up to a figure in front of my tv- spitting imaging of the ring! I flipped out and this figure starts walking towards me and plops onto my bed. I legit thought it was a demon. When I finally realized it was a girl my inital thought was like “Is this Linda Huynh? We didn’t arrange for a sleep over“, so I ask her “Hey who are you?”

She responds “Tori” at this point I assumed she was my roommates friend (my roommates name is Kim). I proceeded by telling her to sleep on the couch. She replies by telling me to sleep there if I wanted. I’m pretty mad at this point- my inner ratchet was coming out and was getting ready to choke her lol. So I call Kim to come get her friend. Come to find out that she didn’t know who this random drunk girl was either!!! ‘Tori’ than told us that she was our neighbors’ daughter and got locked out. So basically we kicked her out and her parents eventually let her in lol. Moral of the story is make sure you lock your doors and also don’t be so drunk that you are walking into someone else’s house !!! She was lucky that we weren’t bad people and we were lucky she wasn’t either!

If you could be a cartoon character, what will you be?

I would probably be Sailor Mars – she’s so feisty. Or Kagame from Inuyasha. I love anime and my goal is to look like an anime lol.

How will you describe an ideal date?

I’m not too particular. I care more about vibes than how much a guy is willing to spend on a date. I love it when someone is willing to take part in your interests and is willing to try new things.

Sexy to me is all about self embodying self confidence! Focus on being the best version of you 🙂

Model & Entrepreneur Amanda Strachan

Hi Amanda it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. How long have you been modeling and what do you love about it?

It’s hard to believe it’s been so long but I’ve been modeling for about 15 years now. I love that modeling enables me to express my artistic and creative side, but what I love most about it is that it’s allowed me to travel the world and meet some of the most amazing and interesting people. Travelling over the years has changed my life in so many ways; it’s opened up many opportunities and allowed me to grow and learn so much.

What is a typical day like for you?

I can’t say I ever really have an overall pattern in my days. With all the things going on in my life I feel like I’m always doing something different, but I always like to start off with a nice cup of tea, and fit a workout in there when I can!

How do you relax or unwind after a long day?

After a long day I always want to treat myself so I’ll usually light candles in the bathroom and have some essential oils diffusing while I take a nice hot bath and sort of let my mind go into a meditative state. If I’m not in the mood for a bath I’ll just put on some comfy clothes, watch Netflix and chillll.

Do you have any phobias?

I can’t say that I do have any serious phobias anymore. I used to be terrified of horses after a near death experience I had with my horse when I was younger. A couple of years ago I overcame that fear during a photo shoot I did at a photographer’s farm. It was a beautiful moment that I’ll never forget.

If you could personally witness anything, what would you want to have seen?

I would have loved to live in the 60s and experience Woodstock.

Have you experienced a funny or embarrassing moment before?

I have had my fair share of funny and embarrassing moments. One that stands out is when I was in primary school and I hated my eyebrows, so the night before picture day I shaved them off. The next day the boy I had a crush on came up to me and asked me “Hey Amanda, did you shave your eyebrows off?”. I was a terrible liar and just shook my head and say “No!” It was pretty obvious I did though. Lucky for me, since it was picture day, I still have the photos, and I’m sure everyone else still does too…including my school girl crush.

What turns you off on a date?

There are a number of things that could turn me off on a date. Besides bad personal hygiene and terrible manners, I absolutely cannot stand small talk. If a guy shows me he’s capable of having honest, interesting and intelligent conversations, AND he’s able to make me laugh in the midst of it all, then there’s a good chance there will be a second date.

Thank you! To me “sexy” is being confident in who you are and expressing that without fear of judgement, and not judging others or thinking there is some form of hierarchy and one person is better than the next. You are your own work of art walking your own path, and you should express that fully, and never be afraid of expressing your nerdy side 😉

Model & Online Store Owner Kexin Cherie

Hi Kexin, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Thank YOU SimplySxy, for featuring me! I am Kexin, a 22 year old business student living in Berlin, Germany. I also run a Youtube Channel, which I have neglected for a while, but I really plan on brining new things back soon! How did you get started into modeling?

I started doing a test shoot because of a friend of mine who convinced me back when I was 15. It was more a fun thing to do back then, but as more photographers got to know me, I somehow just “slided” into the model community. So one day I just decided to turn it into an exciting part time job.

Can you share your beauty regime to looking so gorgeous?

I think the most important thing is to moisturise! I always make sure to clean my face well, especially in the evening and I like to wear SPF on my face during the day. Asians have naturally dry skin so I find it important to go with products that are gentle and soothing for my skin.

Which cartoon character best suits you?

The Pokémon Bulbasaur, because it kinda looks like me… HAHAHAHA.

What is the first thing you notice about people?

Their energy/vibes.

Which is the biggest compliment you have received?

That I am a person worth knowing…

Lamest pickup line or attempt a guy has used on you?

I honestly feel like at least 70% of all pick up lines are pretty lame. I appreciate guys who are honest and straight-forward, who don’t need any pre-thought words to get to me. A friendly and authentic “Hey, I think you’re really interesting” is totally enough to get a conversation started.

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you that is funny now?

It was actually with my ex boyfriend (we’re still really good friends). We had a Yu-Gi-Oh Cards battle (hahahaha we’re both total nerds) and he is a really competitive guy, so it didn’t really matter that I was his girlfriend. So he got REALLY into it and was totally in his zone and in the end I did not only lose against him, he actually DEFEATED me.. really DESTROYED me in this battlewith no holding back.. so at the end I was shocked because he was so mean and ice cold to me that I actually started cry when I lost… hahahahahahahaha… we both find it really funny and he still teases me because of what happened.

I think “sexy” is not the way someone dresses or styles themselves, but the way he or she carries themselves. I think it’s a certain state of mind and the vibe someone has.. it’s definitely about confidence and their natural “je ne sais quoi”.

Malaysia Fashion Entrepreneur Annabelle Sue

Hi everyone! I’m Annabelle Sue. My life revolves around my passion for fashion, love for animals, and burning desire to travel and explore. I grew up in Malaysia and Singapore, and just moved back to Malaysia 3 years ago to pursue my Degree in Fashion & Retail. This year, I launched my fashion boutique FREYJA here.

How will you describe your fashion style?

To be honest, I haven’t figured out how to concise my fashion style into a sentence. I enjoy experimenting with different looks, and find that the most fascinating thing about fashion lies in its ability to let you be anything you want. Some days I’m modish, and some days boho-chic, some days a sports-lover, some days hella sexy, or some days dramatic. It’s a Barbie world.

Can you share your beauty regime to looking so gorgeous?

I force myself to cleanse, tone, and moisturise my face twice a day no matter the circumstances because I’m not ready for wrinkles. As for my hair… I don’t own a comb.

What is your favorite thing to spend money on?

CLOTHES, in a heartbeat.

What is the first thing you notice about people?

Their confidence, because it affects everything – from the way they dress to the things they say.

Which is the biggest compliment you have received?

That I have a big heart, because I strive to.

Lamest pickup line or attempt a guy has used on you?

In my teens, a French boy dropped me back from a first date insisting it was in the French culture to kiss on the lips when saying goodbye. That was lame, and needless to say, the last date.

Do you have any motto(s) which you live by?

Not a motto, but I live by Invictus, a poem by William Ernest Henley. To summarise it in a sentence –

“I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.”

Meet Supermodel International 2016 Winner Josephine Tan

Hi Jojo, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hello Everyone. I am Josephine Tan, also known as Jojo. I was born in Kuantan, Pahang and raised in Kuala Lumpur. I have graduated as a broadcasting student in St John University, New York and now working as a freelance model and am also an entrepreneur in the retailing business in shopping malls.

How did you get started into modeling?

I started my modeling career when I was 18 years old through joining the TV show name “Deal Or No Deal”. I was lucky enough to be shortlisted among hundreds of applicants. Ever since then, I started to discover my interest in modeling and was determined to be a runway model. I never missed any opportunity for casting although I was told by my peers that I was not qualified as I was new to the industry. I have gathered the experience piece by piece, bit by bit from casting, photoshoots and on runways to make me who I am today.

You have participated in various modeling events and contests, which is the most memorable for you?

Year 2009, I first joined the contest “Miss Malaysia Model Of The World” and finished as 4^th runner up. It was a surprise to me as I was new in the industry and had minimal knowledge about modeling. In year 2011, I challenged myself to sign up for “X Top Model Search”. I did not win the grand prize but was able to grab 6 subsidiary titles home. After the second contest, my modeling career started to expand and this was the force that drives me further. In year 2013, I decided to go back to the pageant industry as I wished to push myself further and it turned out to be another surprise to me as I was crowned the winner and represented Malaysia to compete internationally.

To be honest, I did not see that coming but I am really glad and thankful. Thereafter, I have signed up for Asia’s Next Top Model Season 2 casting and it was another peak for me as I was once again being selected to represent Malaysia and finished the show in the Top 6. However, my biggest achievement and most memorable contest will be the recently crowned title Supermodel International 2016 in New Delhi, India. In which I competed with 30 contestants from different continents like Europe, America, South Africa, Asia and etc. International Contest is very competitive and silent wars are common, one has to be alert or be blasted by mines (Laugh). Initially, I was only hoping to get into Top 15 and was really shocked that I could finish the contest as the winner. The nervousness, excitement and overwhelming happiness that I have felt during that night is unforgettable.

What fashion indulgences do you have?

I always keep myself up to date on the latest trends and sometimes wearing something that is bold and eye catching along with standout jewelry that can be seen from a mile away. My fashion is usually the mixture of trendy and exotic. I refresh my wardrobe every change of season and it is something I enjoy doing.

What’s the sexiest item in your wardrobe?

Woohoo! My black sequins see though swimwear.

Biggest compliment you have received?

“You made Malaysian proud“ ( blush )

Do you have any hobbies?

I am an outgoing person. During my free time I will go for outdoor activities like cycling, badminton and hiking. However, I also practice yoga once a week to improve endurance physically and mentally.

Are there any exciting projects in the pipeline for the coming months?

This year will be the most beautiful chapter in my modeling career. I was given opportunities to visit various countries for campaigns and judging in pageant contests. I have recently been to Thailand and Indonesia for Mister Global 2016 and Miss Southeast Asian 2016 and the next stop will be China, India and Thailand. I will be the MC in several events towards end of this year and that will conclude the new breakthrough in my career this year.

Interview With Ivy Swimwear Owner Linda

Hi Linda, it’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

I’m Canadian and grew up in Ottawa, Ontario. I’ve moved across Canada from West coast Vancouver to now East coast Toronto, and enjoy travelling and exploring new cities. I’m always looking for new experiences and spontaneous trips to keep me on my toes. Becoming a Designer and Entrepreneur are new labels to add to my resume this year after launching IVY Swimwear.

How did the idea of Ivy Swimwear come about?

When my best friend moved to L.A for school we always travelled to sunny destinations to reunite. Fashion has always been a passion of ours, but in particular swimwear because of our tropical getaways. I would say that we own more bikinis, than jeans in our closets, and swimwear became a huge obsession of ours! My best friend took photography and graphic design in University and I took business and marketing, making us the perfect business partners.

What is unique and different about Ivy Swimwear than other brands?

IVY Swimwear is the creative vision of my best friend and I. Each IVY bikini is inspired by our own personal style and the always-evolving fashion trends. As individuals we both have unique design tastes. We try to find a balance of chic simplicity and edgy silhouettes to our designs, which gives a look exclusive to IVY.

What does every lady need to know when shopping for swimwear?

When rocking a swimsuit you need to feel comfortable in your own skin. The key to shopping for the perfect bikini or monokini, is to find a style that highlights your best assets and suits your unique body shape.

Where can we catch you partying most of the time?

My girlfriends are scattered in different cities so we always reunite in Vegas to party! The pool parties and nightlife is hard to compare anywhere else.

We are always collaborating with new bloggers, stylists, photographers and models to promote IVY Swimwear. We’ve started to partner with other businesses as well, such as jewelry and temporary tattoo companies. In the near future we would love to work with more public figures in the beauty and fashion industry and even give them the opportunity to design their own IVY bikini. I will have to keep these names on the low for now but we’re super excited for these upcoming collaborations!

Do you have any hobbies?

I’m obsessed with my dogs and spend most of my free time with my 3 chihuahuas…yes 3! When I do have spare time I consider myself a foodie and always on the hunt for new restaurants and recipes to try. I have a need for speed and want to get my motorcycle license this summer. I’m definitely an adrenaline junkie and always looking for the next adventure.

Watch Out For Tasnim’s Own Clothing Line Coming Up!

Who is Tasnim?

Hi I’m Tasnim, 22. I’m from Pasir Mas, Kelantan. I was born on 13th August 1993. I’m starting my own clothing line now and its @bytasnim on Instagram and from there maybe I’ll expand to accessories and stuffs. I really can’t wait to start!

How will you describe your fashion style?

I love looking smart, but casual. I like to dress according to my mood, and I mostly wear darker clothes. I never really wear skirts, and I prefer leggings or denim jeans! I’ll choose flats over heels.

Where do you usually shop and which are your favourite brands?

Where do I shop ? Hmm well I’d choose Pavilion at Bukit Bintang, KL. My favourite brand for clothing and accessories is Warehouse, Topshop, Forever 21 and H&M.

Are there any fashion trends that annoy you?

Do you see “man buns” where you live? If so, do you just want to walk around with a scissors and cut them all off? Haha I do.

Name us 3 fun facts about yourself not usually known.

1 : I have OCD.
2 : People see me as a lady but I’m actually a real slim shady.

What do you find attractive in a guy?

Before knowing the guy, I love to look at their eyes and hair and the way they dress. Once I get to know a guy I like that they can teach you a new thing, humor, trustworthiness, good listener, honesty, and someone who doesn’t check out every girl in the world.

How will you describe an ideal romantic date?

On the rooftop of some really high building with a great view. Candles, music, rose petals. And I wish there could be like this round pillowed bed sitting/laying down area. We are on the bed laying down watching the stars talking and laughing. I’d loved anything as long as I’m with him.

CEO and Swimwear Designer Laura Patricia on the Types of Bikini Every Women Should Own

Who is Laura?

Hi SimplySxy! It’s my pleasure and thanks so much for featuring me on your cool site. My name is Laura Patricia and I’m of half Sri Lankan and half Filipino descent. I have my own clothing collection called Urban Niche which specializes in swimwear, dresses and gymwear. Apart from that I’ve been modelling part time for about 7 years now and have been very blessed to appear in several local and international magazines such as FHM, CLEO, Debonair and even commercials for brands like Johnnie Walker and Axe. I’m also a freelance travel writer for Leisure Travel Magazine and I do emceeing and event management occasionally.

Tell us more about Urban Niche and how you started it.

I started Urban Niche in 2013. I decided to do it as I’ve always been very passionate about fashion and the latest clothing trends. My focus for the brand has mostly been swimwear as I find that in KL there is sometimes very limited choices when it comes to finding a perfect bikini design that suits your body type. Being a bikini model for so many years, I’ve been truly blessed to meet so many people in the industry including photographers, models and makeup artists, some of whom I’ve become very good friends with. Everyone was so supportive when I decided to start the brand and I got so much help and support with all the photoshoots and fashion shows that it started to escalate really well. I now have a pretty decent following on Facebook and Instagram as well as a store in Paradigm Mall called Red’s Revenge where my merchandise is sold. I’ve also branched out into dresses and gymwear. I find the gymwear doing particularly well this year as there are more and more women getting into health and fitness these days. I’m actually considering venturing into a lingerie line as well next year if all goes well.

What types of bikini should every lady own?

Well to me the most important thing when it comes to wearing a bikini is that a woman should feel comfortable and confident in it. If you feel sexy on the inside you will automatically portray that on the outside as well. Of course one should know their body type while choosing a bikini so that they know what design will fall best on them. I find that a lot of women like the monokinis that are the one piece swimsuits as it gives more coverage in certain areas to cover body parts that they might feel insecure about. Some ladies who are bolder and more daring like the bikinis which come in several types of designs such as bikini thongs, bandage bikinis, tanga bikinis, bandeau bikinis and even Brazillian bikinis. If a woman is keen on getting a perfect even tan, then I would definitely recommend the bikinis with less coverage to achieve that.

Do you have any hobbies?

Yes I certainly do! I got very into health and fitness about two years back. I try to hit the gym at least 2-3 times a week. I also enjoy yoga and swimming as I find it very relaxing. I used to be a figure skater when I was younger but unfortunately I had a terrible knee injury and had to stop. I still do enjoy skating but can’t do it at such an intense pace as I used to before. For leisure, I enjoy shopping and watching movies during the weekend. I can also play a pretty wicked game of pool if anyone is up for it!

Which is one memorable travel encounter you have experienced so far?

I would have to say my recent trip to Japan just last month was one of the most interesting and beautiful places I’ve ever been to. I was actually there for work to cover a few specific places for the travel magazine that I write for. It was truly a different experience for me as the whole history, culture and beauty of Japan was absolutely intriguing. I was in Osaka for a couple of days, and I really liked the winter fashion for women over there which I found super cute. The food was amazing as well and was definitely one of the highlights of the trip as I’ve always been a huge fan of Japanese cuisine. Apart from that, another memorable encounter was probably my trip to LA a few years ago. I was there as Miss Eaglerider Malaysia at the Long Beach Grand Prix which was so much fun! I definitely dig the Hollywood vibe and I just love the style and fashion over there. Everyone looks like they just stepped out of a movie or a magazine!

Where do you usually shop?

I absolutely love H&M! I don’t think I’ve ever walked in there without buying something! Lol. Their recent collaboration HM X Balmain was so gorgeous but unfortunately most of the stuff was sold out by the time I got there. Apart from that, I like Miss Selfridge, Bebe, Zara, MNG and Topshop. I’m really into highstreet fashion and the urban look. For lingerie I like Lasenza and Victoria’s Secret as they always have really nice cuttings and cute designs. For shoes, I usually head to Charles & Keith, Aldo, Guess or Vincci. When it comes to makeup, I usually stick to brands that I’m comfortable with like MAC, Sephora, Bobbi Brown and Urban Decay.

What is the most expensive item you have ever splurged on?

The most expensive item I ever splurged on was probably my Burberry Bag. It was a rather ridiculous price for it but it was so lovely I just couldn’t help myself! Lol.

Which is your favorite body part?

I like my eyes. I like the way they’re shaped and I’ve been told by several people I have very feline like features. I think sexy is more of an attitude. It is a confidence with a touch of class. Of course I think every woman should groom themselves and make sure they look great for their man and even occasionally surprise him with some sexy lingerie after he comes back from a long day at work. However, it is not necessarily always related to physical appearances but can also sometimes be more of a mental connection you have with someone. To me, being sexy is being ambitious and independent because I think a woman should believe in herself first before trying to impress anyone else.

Interview with Lyn Ling

Who is Lyn Ling?

A true blue Singapore girl with deep passion for fashion and animals, you can say I’m pretty versatile at being who I am. Which probably explains the diversity of my group of friends! Currently self employed, running my own Men’s Tailor and Female Line! Occasionally a bummer 😛

How will you describe your fashion style?

Fun, safe, quirky, daring, I’m pretty versatile and open when it comes to fashion style. I upkeep with the trend but I abhor following it blindly. I always believe style equates to confidence!

Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?

Emma Watson, CL from 2NE1, Victoria Beckham, Jennifer Aniston, Ayumi Hamasaki, just to name a few. And also renown designers like Tony Ward and Zuhair Murad. Aside from these amazing people, I get inspiration from my travels too!

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

Black and white boudoir corset 😉

Which are your go to brands?

Every girl loves a Chanel and I’m not different! But aside from the big brands, I’ve always love indie brands like Keepsake and BNKR from australia!

What’s the most expensive item you have splurged on?

Travel and more travels.

Do you have the urge to critic someone’s dress style if you see that it is a fashion catastrophe?

Yes! I would definitely put it in the nicest way possible though.

What items do you always travel with?

Phone, camera and a gold token my grandmother left me.

Have you ever experienced a crazy or frustrating moment on your travels?

Yes, rushing for the train in Tokyo with food in my mouth cause I was just too damn hungry and their trains are too damn punctual (not a complaint!)!

What guilty indulgences do you have for food?

FRIEDDDD STUFFS. FRIESSSS!

Funniest thing you’ve done or experienced?

I’m a big klutz.. I drop stuffs several times a day and I have the worst sleeping faces. Which everyone around me thinks its funny! I love hiding in corners and scaring my sis every.single.day.

What’s sexy to you?

Remove all unsightly hair (pits, legs, lips) where it doesn’t belong, be well groomed, well styled and the confidence that comes will naturally make you feel sexy too!

Entrepreneur and blogger Regina Pek from Singapore

Hi my name is Regina, I’m 20 this year and I’m from Singapore. I run an online store selling ladies apparels, accessories and shoes.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I’ll describe myself as versatile. I don’t have a particular exact style I follow because I love trying out new styles! I love wild and loud looking styles and at the same time I appreciate the feminine ladylike dresses too.

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

It’ll be my crochet bralets that I have in black and white, they’re really sexy cause they are a little translucent that reveals the little lace details.

Are you more of an introvert or extrovert?

I’m more of an extrovert. I’m a pretty noisy person.

What’s one overrated fashion accessory?

I think to me it’ll be the neon bags/accessories period. I think it’s too overrated.

Give one example of a fashion disaster you have laid your eyes on.

I used to love pairing everything I wear with translucent stockings that tears every time when I wear it…. Could still remember how trendy it was in the past… looking back it’s really a fashion disaster, oh no 🙁

If you had the chance to learn anything in this world, what will it be?

I would want to have the skills of a lawyer. I really love how they could debate and really fight for their client with different evidences and theories to prove the case wrong.

Which movie character best represents you?

At the moment.. I think, AGNES from despicable me!! Her rollercoaster emotions and extreme excitement on things!

One fun fact about yourself not usually known?

I’m socially awkward. If I’m in a social event with too many people I have not met before, I’ll try to stay low at a corner alone. It’ll usually take me a while to get familiar with people.

Craziest thing you’ve done and not regret?

Entering the casino when I was 16 and made my own $100 there!

What’s sexy to you?

Sexy is the way you could portrait yourself in a sophisticated yet charming in your own way. That’s sexy to me.
