Singapore YouTuber & Deejay Jazzy Tan mixes it up!

Looking ever gorgeous, we catch up with Youtuber and Deejay Jazzy Tan as she recommends places to party on weekends in Singapore and how she began her YouTube journey.

Hi Jazzy, thanks for taking the time to answer our questions on SimplySxy. Can you share a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hey you! I am a dreamer who was born on the 12th of March in a tiny island, Singapore. Since young, I’ve always wanted to be in front of the camera, sing or to do something related to the entertainment world to share my talents and content to others! However, I abhor the idea of being tied down to an agency, fixed office hours or listening to orders, so I took it to myself to start my own YouTube channel to upload my content that I dictate and I am lovin’ it so far, only got serious about 3 months back after graduation from NUS.

On the other hand, I am also a multi-faceted human being, so I also host or emcee every weekend for companies like Samsung and deejay at night in clubs/bars.

Currently, I’m entering into the real estate market as an agent too because I dream to own many properties worldwide.

You share quite a few beauty tips on your YouTube channel. How did the inspiration to create videos come about?

I actually started the channel way back in 2010 but I didn’t put any heart into it. I was uploading infrequently and posting whatever… So I thought I needed to be very targeted to grow my channel. I love watching Youtubers like Trisha Paytas, Patrickstarrr and Leendaproductions. They inspire me so much because they are such strong individuals who overcome so much in their lives and how they carry themselves with confidence really impacted me so much to also do that in my channel. Through my videos, other than just talking about beauty, my main message I wanted to exude to my viewers is that ‘you can be anyone, you can do anything and you can live the life you want’! I want people to know that anything is possible. The grind is real but the results will be rewarding!

How long does it take for you to complete one video and does it involve many takes and editing?

It takes a long ass time to get a video edited especially if its not a vlog! Every video takes 5-6hrs for me to edit because I want it to look the perfect way I desire.

For takes…..maybe around 3 takes now that I am getting better at this film myself type process.

Is there a specific diet you are on to having that fabulous body?

NO! In fact I am such a glutton I actually eat a lot more than a lot of my friends. Hehe.

Do you have any guilty pleasures when it comes to food?

YASSSSSS gimme some of that Ben & Jerry Chocolate Therapy!

You have a lovely tattoo on your right shoulder of two roses. Can you share with us the story behind it?

I got it colored recently (still peeling) and let me tell you I was such a whiny bitch when my friend was inking me…….. Like I complained so much about the pain. It’s really an unbearably painful area to get tattooed.

And…..sorry I wish I could make up some juicy story about the roses but no they are just a pair of generic roses on my shoulders for aesthetics haha. I got a hate comment saying how ‘original’ my rose tattoo was, oh wells stupid haters 🙂

Where are some places to recommend for a good party on weekends?

Ouhhh…I love Attica a lot it used to be my second home, like I party till the club goes down! Kyo is another one of my faves on a Thursday ladies night for old school hiphop R&B, the deejay Andrew Chow inspired me to go into deejay business because he made me realize being a deejay is to emit the emotions you want your crowd to feel through the tracks you drop.

How will you describe a perfect date?

Hmmm.. a lot of flirting, skin contact, teasing…..nice sexy outfit in a nice cooling outdoor area facing a nice scenery. Guy in sleek back hair.

A lot of time I think sexy shows through when a girl knows how to look into the camera or someone’s eyes. Not really smiley, but sultry….confidence knowing you are the hottest thing in the room, anywhere, any time. Thanks SimplySxy for having me.

Event talent Carmen Ho is one tough babe

Who is Carmen Ho?

Hi! My name is Carmen and I am from Singapore! I am currently an undergraduate taking my degree in marketing and management.

How did you get into modeling?

I wouldn’t label myself as a model. I prefer to be called an event talent. My friend asked me if I wanted to work for this event which was for a Dior conference and ever since then, I have been working on and off as a event talent.

Which is your most memorable highlight so far?

IT Show! I worked for Casio, I love the fact that the girls made work so fun that I enjoyed every moment of it. Come to think of it, I really miss it!

What’s the most embarrassing or funny moment you have seen or experienced in one of your modelling events or photoshoots?

There was this guy who wanted to take a picture of my friend and I but he had a bad reputation in the photography industry. Thus, we rejected him but he persisted, thus my friend used her camera and suggested to him, how about we take a photo of him instead. I was laughing at the side as I didn’t expect my friend to react that way!

Are you a foodie?

Definitely yes! I enjoy food so much, I feel it’s a joy to eat! My mum usually says to be able to eat is a blessing. Additionally I love watching Master Chef at odd hours and get myself really hungry!

Three things you can’t leave home without?

My phone, wallet and earpiece.

If you had the chance to time travel, past or present, where will it be?

Those days as a carefree child, where I had no worries except passing my exams haha.

How will you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style changes time to time, it really depends on the mood of the day or how the weather is. But I am more inclined to dark colours.

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

My black plain fitted dress.

Do you have any hobbies?

I do boxing and Muay Thai!

What’s sexy to you?

Well, sexy is to be confident of you who are inside. Be gracious and kind.

Fashion blogger GG names the one fashion catastrophe everyone must avoid

Who is GG?

My name is GG, I am usually known at @plaaastic. I am also usually known for being a fashion blogger, but I do everything honestly. Just art in general I guess.

How will you describe your fashion style?

My fashion style is just me. I don’t have a name for it, because I dress different all the time. Can’t stick to one thing, I have to keep evolving.

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

The nonexistent bra.

Where do you usually shop?

I don’t have an usual place, bits and pieces from everywhere. Independent brands, diy, vintage…

What’s the most expensive item you have splurged on?

Probably my platforms. I don’t spend much on clothes honestly, like not one big thing at a time, always small stuffs all year round. Never have enough money to splurged actually lol.

Do you have the urge to critic someone’s dress style if you see that it is a fashion catastrophe?

I don’t critique people who have their own style, I critique people who have absolutely no personal style. I mean how can you dress up and go out with something that does not represent you in anyway and feel comfortable with that? Especially those people who copy others. Your body is your canvas that you can draw on whatever the fuck you want but you use it to copy a famous painting instead and that’s just sad.

If you had the choice of any superpower, what will it be and why?

To turn into any animals, objects, and being I want. I want to have any other body but my own, so if I have a super power I want to have them all.

Which cartoon character best represents you?

Mojojojo from Powerpuff girls.

What guilty indulgences do you have for food?

Gosh this is an awkward question. Food equal guilt for me so I don’t know.

Funniest thing you’ve done or experienced?

I did a stand up comedy a few nights ago and I got kicked off the stage because I was bumping everybody out.

What’s sexy to you?

Someone who is having absolute power over their body. Examples: woman who are comfortable naked, dancers who make their body moves exactly like how they imagine it, anyone who says “fuck it I am getting a new face” and get plastic surgery. Sexy for me is not about sex, it’s more of a fascination of someone’s view of their own sexuality (if that even make any sense).

I laugh too much. I’m crazy. But sanely crazy. I know my limits. Oh I’m constantly single.

Present. I live in the moment. Make the most out of now. Who says a teenager like me can’t be a person of high status like a manager or service leader? Well I am right now.

Oddly bikini. Bikini and lingerie are really different somehow!

Nipple pasties that’s a replacement of a bra.

What can a guy do to catch the eye of model Jessica Lim?

Who is Jessica Lim?

I’m a local (Singaporean) Chinese, and also a student, doing a degree in accounting and finance at SIM (Singapore Institute of Management). In my free time, I am a freelance talent/model part time.

What do you enjoy most about being a model and your most memorable modeling highlight or achievement so far?

Getting to participate in an event or going to an occasion I never had a chance to do so if I was not a model. Getting to know different types of people and cultures from around the world. I don’t really fancy beauty pageants but one of my happiest and greatest achievement was actually being a TNP New Paper New Face finalist for 2014.

What’s your beauty regime like to looking so fantastic?

Good toner and moisturizer before bed, and go for the occasional facials to keep my face glowing and healthy.

Craziest thing that you have ever done?

The craziest thing I did so far? I was a camp instructor back in my Poly days for secondary three students for a camp, at a remote and forested place at Malaysia, JB. And there’s a lot of challenges that I have to take there, like certain activities I had never done in my entire life and I have to do it and do it well to set a good example for the students.

Three things you can’t leave home without daily?

My phone, my wallet( with my card in it) and my lipstick.

If you could choose to have a superpower , which will it be and why?

The ability to read a persons’ mind! So I can have a better understanding of someone’s true character faster!

How much of a foodie are you?

I do eat a lot! Though people are always complaining that I should eat more because I am way too skinny but that’s part of my genes. I also love cafe hopping with my girlfriends during my free time!

What’s your idea of a romantic date?

Romantic date? Probably dinner in an outdoor restaurant at the top of a building, with red wine and classical music, for the ambiance.

One thing a guy can do to catch your eye is?

Guys with a sense of humor. Mature, honest with a sense of responsibility.

What’s your definition of sexy?

Sexy? Is not about the outlook of someone but it’s defined by that person’s character!

Model Sharin Keong is a Head-turner

Who is Sharin Keong?

Hey SimplySxy! Thanks for the opportunity to be interviewed by you! I am Sharin from Singapore! Currently I am in the education industry teaching preschoolers. But I still do model at times but my focus now is with the education industry. Keeping myself fit with boxing trainings twice a week and a DotA 2 player!

How did you get into SupermodelMe Sirens and what was the experience like?

I was a fan of SupermodelMe season 3 and when I saw the casting call for season 5, I told myself ‘why not?’ So I signed up for it and was waiting for good news! And I got selected to be one of the contestants who will represent Singapore out of hundreds of applicants! At that point of time I was a preschool teacher, I had to quit my job for this show but guess what? It was all worth while.

Having to stay in a house with 11 other girls from different background, different personalities, was definitely a challenge at first. But I guess we all managed to blend into the environment pretty well. At least I know I did!

All the challenges were new to me! I have never riden on an ostrich before, climb walls, shoot using a rifle, water raft, and not forgetting the trampoline park! Thanks to SupermodelMe, I got to try all these!

Even for the photoshoots, the themes were so exciting! Like shooting with a Doberman, pretending to be a live mannequin, doing a fight scene! Those were themes that I have never done in Singapore and thank God I had the opportunity to experience all these in Supermodelme.

What will you say are the best perks about being a model?

I guess for me, it would be the amazing apparels that I get to model for. I dress very simple and casual for normal days. And never would I expect to see myself decked in exclusive designer apparels. Even if I don’t own it, at least I got to wear it once! HAHA.

Have there been any embarrassing moments that happened during a photo shoot?

I won’t say there were any embarrassing moments during a photoshoot but definitely I had a very embarrassing moment for a runway show!

It was a final walk for me as the New Paper New Face winner 2012. I was dressed in this gorgeous looking black tube dress, shouldered with this translucent cape. Everything was fine but when I started taking a few steps, I realized my dress was slipping off. Halfway through the runway, I faked a pose trying to pull up the dress, but when I started walking, the dress continued to slide.

At the end of the stage, my tube dress was already at my waist. I told myself, “F**k it, just finish the walk.” So when I reach the finish point, I was like “DAMN”. Why? As it was my final walk and it was to follow by a special entrance of the host, the show producers decided to insert a magic performance – Disappearing model, appearing host kinda thing. I had to raise up my hands and say TADA. Guess what? When I rose my hands, my boobs were flashed.

Once I got off the runway, I was like, “F***, f***, f***!!!” and next moment you know, friends texted me saying “WOW” “we saw it” kind of messages. Two hours later, a news reporter even called me to ask me about the wardrobe malfunction.

WHAT AN EMBARASSING MOMENT.

If you had the chance to time travel, past or future, where will it be?

I will still choose to remain in the moment. Seize the now.

Which is your favourite music artiste today?

Currently, I am always in the mood for some “Vigiland” beats.

What’s the funniest pickup line or attempt to pick you up a guy has tried on you?

Do you go to the gym? Because babe, I see you and I working out together.
Sheesh.

Are you more comfortable in lingerie or bikini?

Aren’t they almost the same thing? Just different material and different purposes, no? When they are on me, they cover just the same body parts isn’t it?

Your favourite body part?

My cheekbones.

What’s your definition of “sexy”?

Seductive yet grounded.

Singapore beauty queen and actress Chloe Xu

Who is Chloe Xu?

Thank you so much for having me! It’s my pleasure! Well, let’s start off with some basic information about myself. I’m 19 this year, but I often get mistaken to be in my late 20s due to my mature face and height (I guess). I’m currently a freelance actress, model and makeup artist. I first got into this industry as a makeup artist. I’ve had a huge passion for makeup since young and in 2012, I signed myself up for part-time diploma in professional makeup. Through my makeup school, I had the opportunities to be part of the makeup crew for several pageants. And from there, after lots of encouragement from my amazing friends, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and joined Miss Singapore Beauty Pageant in 2013 at the age was 17. And yes, I was the youngest contestant, and beauty queen, with the title Miss Singapore Global Beauty Queen. That’s when I started modeling. In 2014, whilst still schooling in Junior College, I embarked on another life changing journey to South Korea for World Miss University. And this year, I started acting as well.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I would say my fashion sense is chic and smart casual. Anything black is my favourite. It’s just so effortless. I love maxi dresses, rompers and anything high waist (cause I’ll get to hide my wide hips *wink). It’s not just about looking good, wearing something that flatters my body, but also feeling comfortable and confident in it.

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

Lace bras. There was a point in time when I was so obsessed with lace bras. They were so sexy and bold. But I’ve never worn them out before though. Never had the guts to HAHA.

Where do you usually shop?

You could say that I’m a pretty lazy person. I shop online most of the time. NastyGal, SheInside, etc. Give me a cup of coffee and I can spend hours surfing the net for clothes and shoes. I once spent more than $500 on an online blogshop. Other times, when I do have the mood to go shopping in malls, I usually visit H&M, New Look, Topshop, Forever 21 or TEMT. I’m that type of girl where I’ve spend all my money I have to when I chanced upon something I really like.

What’s the most expensive item you have splurged on?

Couldn’t really recall the most expensive item I’ve splurged on, but the most ridiculous one was this pair of heels that cost my almost $200. Worst part is its heels are not only ridiculously high, it’s also pretty difficult to keep your balance in them to. It’s impossible to walk in it without looking like a clumsy bear or tripping over yourself. Only worn then once for a photoshoot and that was it.

Do you have the urge to critic someone’s dress style if you see that it is a fashion catastrophe?

Well, everyone’s preference and fashion style is different, so I guess not.

If you had the choice of any superpower, what will it be and why?

Gosh, I really can’t decide. If I really have to settle with one, it’ll have to be teleportation. I hate taking public transport, and even though I can drive now, it’s still pretty much a hassle, especially when I’m caught in a traffic jam or when my GPS decides to give me the wrong directions. I wouldn’t mind mind control too. It’ll be awesome if I can get people to do anything I want them to.

Which cartoon character best represents you?

Don’t really know a lot of cartoon characters… But if we’re talking about superheroes here, I’d be Black Widow. She’s so cool and mysterious.

What guilty indulgences do you have for food?

I love chocolate, cakes, donuts, pies, and ICE CREAM! I’m a crazy chocoholic. If calories don’t exist, I’d have them all day for the rest of my life.

What’s sexy to you?

To me, being sexy is all about embracing yourself no matter what size you are and how you look, it’s about being confident in your very own body, being your true self. What makes a quality steak isn’t just about how perfect the outer sear is, but also its exquisite taste. It is the seasoning that gives it flavor, adding a whole new dimension to the plain piece of steak. It is the taste that endures in your mind, not how it looked. Usually, and unfortunately, how sexy a woman is in our society is often determined by her dress size, how pretty she is (or rather how much makeup she puts on), and how ‘perfect’ her figure is. But, the thing is, you are your own definition of sexy. And everyone’s definition is different. One should never let someone’s opinion of you be the definition of oneself.

I’m cast for the movie ‘The Tenants’ or ‘房客’ that will be out in the theatres mid next year! It’s a huge opportunity for me as this is my first feature film/movie. And as I am an emerging actress, I still have a lot to learn and improve on. So I’m really glad I got the role as Qing in the movie. I fell in love with her immediately after reading the script. Do show some love and hit the theatres once it’s out! 😉

Who is Selina Ng?

Hi! I’m Selina from Singapore. Currently working as a freelance event talent/model.

What’s one fun fact about yourself?

Fencing was my CCA during my schooling days.

I was actually doing it competitively till I was about 19. People will always look at me with their eyes open widely whenever I mentioned this to them. I miss it and I will definitely go back to fence for leisure.

What turns you on?

A charismatic smile. It’s hard to find a guy with such a smile.

Craziest thing you’ve done?

Slapped a guy twice when I was 12. That guy was really annoying though I’ve warned him not to disturb me for a couple of times. He ended up crying like a girl. LOL.

Favourite drink?

AK47. My favourite drink to start with whenever I was clubbing at Butter Factory.

Spit or swallow?

How about none of them?

Sweet, Salty or a little bit of both?

A little bit of both? Too much of sweet treats can make you feel sick and too much of salty food can make you feel thirsty.

Which movie character best represents you?

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games. She’s a strong female character with identity and integrity.

Worst rejection you’ve faced?

I went for one event casting. The client actually made us stand in a row, scanned at us from head to toe and pointed at the selected ones “You, you, and you, come out now”. They did not even ask us to introduce ourselves; it’s all purely by appearance. It’s a waste of my time and kinda embarrassing that I didn’t get selected and was ‘informed’ in such a way.

The way they chose the girls is like a guy looking at the ‘fish tank’ with naked girls and they pick you after looking at your appearance.

Must have in your wardrobe?

Crop tops, shorts and maxi dress. You can never go wrong with them at different occasions.

What’s sexy to you?

Sexy to me is about being confident and believing in yourself.

SimplySxy catches up with the beautiful Singaporean model Katherine Aiko and find out how a typical day is like for this babe and how she got into modelling.

Hi Katherine, it’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with us a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hi my name is Katherine, Aiko is my alias. I’m a Singaporean, born and based here in Singapore, but I am not purely Chinese by descent. My paternal grandmother is a Peranakan from the Indonesian. I graduated in Lasalle visual arts, and then moved on to freelance modelling. Big difference.

But once in a while I’ll dabble into digital artwork/painting. ( I have to use my unflattering art skills somewhere, as I see Art more as a passion and hobby).

And, I love food! I‘ll never fail to share my food journey with my friends on my media platform.

What is the story behind your journey into modelling?

I started freelance modeling since 18. I got discovered by a local agency. A part time job and an extra income during my school days. Basically my career just get started this way and people started calling and I skipped classes to work sometimes. I never thought I would model for more than a few years, but I just couldn’t reject anyways.

I always believe that modeling would allow me to meet different people and experience a lot of different things, so I looked for opportunities to learn and grow, and I’ll always have a sense of satisfaction after the task.

Who are some of your favourite designers or brands?

I don’t really have a favourite designer/ brand, but if I were to really name one, that would be Alexander McQueen . I have a thing for skulls and masochism. An expression of freedom and fearlessness.

Are there any fashion or beauty trends that annoy you?

Not really.

Fashion/ beauty trends have been a part of pop culture for decades and have influenced many of us in how we behave and react to other people around us.

Each has their impact on the industry, depending on how you see it.

How is a typical day like in the life of Katherine?
1. Planning & Work
  If I’m not working, I’ll spend some time planning my work schedule in my mobile phone calendar app. My day usually starts by checking emails, and Whatsapp, applying upcoming jobs, making lists to prioritize tasks. Good planning is a must for a freelancer’s working schedule.
2. Eat
  At least 40% of my time is spent in this stage or even more when I’m not working.
3. Marketing
  This is roughly another half of my time spend on doing ‘marketing’ for my upcoming event/ sponsorship advertorial on my Facebook, Instagram networking platform.
You are quite a foodie as well. What are 3 types of food you’ll miss if they were to be no longer available?

Meat , seafood and cakes hahahaa.

Which 3 words best describe you?

Friendly, Funny and Feisty (when its necessary).

If you could take part in a reality TV show, what will it be?

Roommate.

I would like to see how will I react or do when I’m living under one roof with different people having not known to each other prior to moving in.

Blogger Aggylow and her love for piano

Musically inclined and having a talent for playing the piano, blogger Aggylow talks to SimplySxy on a favourite musicians, her sense of fashion and where she will time travel to if given the opportunity in this fun interview!

Hi Agnes, it’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hello! It is my utmost pleasure to meet you too! (: I am Agnes and I am from Singapore. I am known to many more commonly as Aggylow and I am a fashion/beauty and lifestyle blogger. I am also a piano teacher when I’m off social media.

How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to do so?

I have been blogging since I was in Secondary 1, about 11 years ago. It all started out just blogging about my usual boring secondary school life, and I remember at that time I was typing like this (e.g. eeux, lubzxz, foreverzxzx) HAHAHA… but yes it all started out just like that! What kept me going is the satisfaction I get when people actually do take time to read my blog and find out more about things going on in my life, I really really appreciate that! (:

You have a love of music and run a music school, Piannisimato, teaching piano to students. Where did your passion for music come from?

That is not my music school, just my little humble piano teaching business where I teach from home or head to my students’ places to teach. I started playing the piano and singing since I was 4 years old, all thanks to my Mum! Her guidance pushed my determination and helped me to get this far.

Which period of music do you enjoy playing most and do you have a favorite composer?

My favourites would be Classical, Romantic and Modern Century music as they are so different in all aspects. Classical music is mostly simple and repetitive, but good and strong playing technique is needed in order to play pieces from this period. I enjoy pieces, from Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven.

Romantic period songs requires proper mood to play each piece, mostly really dramatic changes involved. I started to appreciate this period of music as I was much older as I was more mature and able to portray the right expressions to successfully play each Romantic piece. My favourite composers are Chopin (especially!) and Tchaikovsky.

Modern Century music are my least favourite out of this three, but I really enjoy playing Jazz and Blues from this era. It makes you think more (due to rhythmic difference and style of playing) and tunes are mostly pretty light-hearted and a little quirky/wacky… like me sometimes 😛 Favourite composer of this era… none yet, I’m still finding a favourite (:

Where do you usually do your shopping?

Online, or stores like H&M, Zara, sometimes River Island. But my favourite buys are usually from overseas 😀

How will you describe your fashion style?

I’m pretty flexible, and I like a mix of everything. I can go girly, rock, chic, minimal, casual… Rojak style!

On a scale of 1-10, how much of a foodie are you?

Eh………I guess 2? :X Oh no.. I’m not a good person to ask when it comes to food because I basically think everything is nice… because I’m not choosy or picky when it comes to food… As in I do enjoy eating but there is just other things in life I enjoy more than food…..like fashion and travelling!! hahaha!

If you had the opportunity to time travel, where will you go to?

Wow… this is a tough one.. I would like to be able to go back in time to prevent major disasters/deaths from happening, or going back to undo certain things that I have done causing hurt to people I love or going back in time where I can make choices all over again to prevent certain unhappiness and sadness from happening…

I feel that sexiness is when you are confident yet humble, love yourself, be determined about what you enjoy doing and most importantly cherish and love the people around you! Because when you do all of that, you will feel happiness from the bottom of your heart and being happy, enjoying the company of your loved ones and doing the things you enjoy makes you really sexy! 😉
