What are the best perks of being a model?

I like that you can have fun on the job and that you get to meet new people because that means making new friends! And of course, the occasional complimentary items you get to bring home.

Your most memorable highlight or achievement so far?

Being one of the reporters for the inaugural Singapore Youth Olympic Games in 2010.

What’s your beauty regime like?

Double cleansing is a must and I use an exfoliating scrub and a clay mask twice a week.

I can’t think of one haha.

Three things you can’t live without in your wardrobe?

My trusty pair of leather brown oxfords, a basic white top and a figure-friendly printed dress.

Are you more comfortable in lingerie or bikini?

Lingerie.

What’s your idea of a romantic date?

Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I do love a nice dinner with good conversation. Chemistry is important. A romantic restaurant would be the added cherry on top. But to me, what’s most important is the conversation.

One thing a guy can do to catch your eye is?

Be a gentlemen.

What’s your definition of sexy?

When the guy is confident, he knows what he’s doing without being arrogant.

Vivan Tng talks about fashion and food

Who is Vivian Tng?

Hellos. I’m Vivian, also known as xchubbykitty. I’m currently 22, a full time student studying for my Diploma in Accountancy, Singapore. I own a blog and mainly blog about beauty and fashion. I have a major fetish over Hello Kitty and even dreamt that I would be one of it someday. (Okay, I think I’m in my own fantasy world.) Oh, and I love taking pictures.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I guess I don’t really have a fixed fashion style for me, I wear clothes depending on my mood. If I was feeling lazy, I would just throw on a pair of hot shorts with an oversized tee and a platform and head out.

What fashion rules do you live by?

“If you wear it, be confident.”

Where do you usually shop?

Usually I would shop for my clothes at Scape or Bugis Street, if not for online blogshops, I usually get most of my stuff from Shop Princessa and sometimes Shop Sassy Dreams.

What’s the most expensive item you have splurged on?

I guess it is a Prada wallet? Is that counted…

Do you have the urge to critic someone’s dress style if you see that it is a fashion catastrophe?

Nope I will never criticize but I guess maybe gossip among my good friends, because I believe each and every one of us have different fashion styles, although I may not like the style but you will never know if it will go in trend someday and you will wear it somehow.

What is your beauty regime like?

I don’t think I have the perfect skin, nor complexion. But what I find is important is to always use the correct makeup remover/facewash. For me I have been a loyal fan of Biore. I just love their remover and facial foam. In addition I don’t put foundation unless on big occasions. Eyeliner and lip stick are my essentials.

Which cartoon character best represents you?

Not including Sanrio Characters, I think Blossom, from Powerpuff Girls. Because I think she is pretty bubbly.

What guilty indulgences do you have for food?

The funny thing about me is that I hate chocolate, but I love lava cake. Which I have no idea why. Not all though but majority.

Funniest thing you’ve done or experienced?

Funniest thing I have done I guess will be grabbing a stranger’s hand while entering into the MRT train, because it was during the peak period so I just grabbed the hand thinking it was my friend and my friend stood shock on the platform when I entered the train.

What’s sexy to you?

Sexy to me is not only base on appearance but also being connected to your soul, living boldly and having no boundaries.

What do you enjoy most being a model?

Doing car shows and influencing people with the right attitude.

Sleazy, easy to get and materialistic.

What is one memorable highlight from your modelling experience so far?

Being able to pose with nice cars.

To me, simplicity is the best. I don’t like people who try so hard.

Clubs or supper place.

Which is the favourite part of your body?

I love every part of myself.

How will you describe your idea romantic date?

Probably a guy who buys a pair of heels and a dress and keeps me in suspense of where we are heading while on our way there. Pop out a bouquet of roses and a candlelight dinner at somewhere quiet.

Who is Joeis Tan?

Hello, thanks for reaching out to me! I’m Joeis, a graduate from Singapore Management University with a Bachelor of Accountancy, majoring in accounting and finance (Investment Banking). Currently working as an auditor, as well as freelancing for shoots and events. I was previously the grand champion of The Straits Times Classified Car Ambassador 2014.

You took home the title of The Straits Times Classified Car Ambassador in 2014. How was the whole experience like for you?

That was a pretty exciting journey for me, especially for someone who has never taken part in any of such pageants before. Most of the finalists had some form of pageant-related experience and more often than not, I had to step out of my comfort zone to learn everything from scratch. I used to have stage fright, so being able to stand in front of the mass crowd for the Q&A segment was my greatest obstacle. Fortunately, it all turned out well.

I believe these challenges made me a better and stronger person. I must say this was truly an enriching and fulfilling experience for me and it opens me up to a whole new life chapter ever since. I’m really thankful for the opportunities presented to me as well as having the chance to meet and work with a lot of new people.

What made you join the pageant and did you think you would win?

The decision to take part in The Straits Times Classified Car Ambassador pageant didn’t come easy. My main driving force was the encouragement from my family and friends. I never thought I would win actually. In fact, competition was stiff given that all other contestants possess the qualities of a pageant queen. I was truly blessed with good friends and family who gave me huge encouragement and support throughout that period.

On hindsight, I was really glad I made the decision to take part in this pageant. Other than the huge media exposure and wonderful learning journey I gained through this experience, I made many good friends along the way.

If you could choose to own any model of car, what will it be?

I would want to own a Volkswagen Beetle. Since its production, the Beetle has always been well-received because of its compact size and distinctive features. To me, it’s one of the most successful cars because the Beetle weathered through stiff competition and overcame all problems faced previously. It is a car that never said die and withstood the stand of time to be firmly established as one of today’s best-selling car models in the world. I hope to define myself with this never say die spirit and live a legacy like the Beetle has.

If you had the chance to time travel, past or present, where will it be?

I’ve never thought about this before haha! I’m more of a forward looking person and I firmly believe it’s the learning journey of one’s past that shapes who we are today. Yet at the same time I prefer to retain the suspense of how my future will be like. So.. I guess I would still want to remain at present. Besides, I’m enjoying every moment of my life now!

Do you have any hobbies?

I love taking up new courses and learning something different. I try to make it a point to go for a jog or hit the gym once a week to keep fit and of course, playing a couple of games of DOTA every night before I sleep!

Are you more of a morning person or night owl?

Definitely a morning person! As the saying goes, the early bird catches the worm – I prefer waking up early in the morning for a hearty breakfast followed by accomplishing tasked planned for the day early.

Actress Cynthia Kuang shares the creepiest request from a male fan she has received

Who is Cynthia Kuang?

Hello! My name is Cynthia and I’m a freelance actress from Singapore. Acting has always been my passion and I hope to collaborate with film makers all over the world! My wish is to one day to be able to star in a movie directed by myself!

How long have you been blogging and what made you start?

I’ve been blogging since 2010 during secondary school. Back then, I didn’t do any advertorials and my blog was mainly on poetry and quotes. However no one knows it’s me because I listed myself as anonymous. What made me start writing was because of the stress I faced during secondary school.

Writing makes me feel a lot better and it helps channel away all the negativity.

You are part of an exciting project called Long Long Time Ago coming out in 2016, can you tell us more about it?

It’s a period film which is directed by director Jack Neo and it will be in cinemas during the 2016 Chinese New Year. Unfortunately I cannot reveal much about my role but there will be a lot of scenes that will be really relatable, especially if you have experienced ‘Kampong Life’. Do keep a lookout and I promise you will be blown away by how I look in the movie!

What is the best compliment you have received?

That I look better in real life then on screen/in pictures. I’m not sure if many will take that as a compliment but I choose to!

Where do you usually shop?

I don’t usually do much shopping because I don’t have much time so I do it online most of the time. 🙂

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

That I shall remain a secret but let me give you a hint, I’m in love with Fifty Shades Of Grey. 😉

What is your beauty regime like?

I am a pretty lazy person when it comes to pampering myself so my beauty regime is really simple. After cleansing and toning, I use PasJel Multifunctional cream as a moisturiser and then proceed on to doing my make up. As for make-up wise it’s really simple too. It’d be BB cream, followed by eyebrow pencil, mascara and eyeliner. And a light color lipstick depending on my mood.

Have you ever gotten any creepy requests and messages from male fans?

Yes! There was this person which left a really big impression. He wouldn’t stop pestering me on Facebook offering to buy my used underwear and socks. Conditions being that I have to wear them on for 3 days. LOL.

What can a guy do to impress you?

Men that do chivalrous acts really attracts me. Like pulling out the chairs, opening doors etc. I really hope chivalry is not dead.

Which is your favourite body part?

Everything. I love all parts of myself. 😉

What’s sexy to you?

Confidence. It’s not about looks and boobs all the time, and I feel that confidence alone plays a major part in being sexy. If a person is confident in the way they look, they give off this certain kind of aura which I find really hot.

Who is DJ Sakura?

I am from Singapore – a little red dot on the map, part of South-East Asia. I am a Deejay and have been spinning at some of Singapore’s hippest clubs.

How did your interest in Deejaying came about?

I have always been interested in music. I used to listen to a lot of club mixes and have always been curious about how pieces of music have been ‘stitched’ in together and sound so good, how someone can learn to use a console that seems so complicated! Then, I came across an opportunity to learn and deejay on the job while they sent me for courses. Without much consideration, I jumped right into it! Heh!

Which are your favourite genre of music?

Dubsteps, hip hop, trap music.

What’s the best compliment you have received?

Career wise, I have received compliments that my music and song selection is unique and these party people have been having a blast throughout the night because of me! So far, this has been the compliment that still tickles my heart.

How will you describe your fashion style?

My usual outfit for a day out with friends would be a put-together of a cropped-top tee, high-waist pants/skirt and probably pull-over a comfy jacket that suits the outfit. Oh, and I’m almost always in high platform shoes (cause’ since I’m really short!). I take OOTDs like an everyday affair. Do you follow any particular fashion trends?

Japanese-influenced street wear fashion.

What colours suit you best?

Although my favourite colour is black, white and baby pink but white compliments me best.

CJ’s Bar@Quaich (Resort World Sentosa), Bang Bang Club and Delta Sports Hall. (Whuuttt?! Sports Hall? Why???) Yes. Delta Sports Hall. I will be the main Deejay playing sets for the upcoming Pro-Am Singapore Basketball League Games that will be happening from 6^th December 2015 to 10^th April 2016. If you had the chance to learn anything in this world, what would it be?

I wish to learn all of the languages in the world! Well because, communication is SO important. I would like to communicate with all of my fans in the best and most sincere way I can. Plus, don’t you think being able to speak any language like it’s your native language can be really cool? Hehe.

One fun fact about yourself which most people do not know?

When I drink alcohol I don’t get high. Instead, I start getting really sleepy. So when I spin, I try not to drink at all so I do not spoil my evening and find myself sleeping in the changing room at the clubs!

What’s sexy to you?

Anyone who is confident and healthy is sexy to me!

I have recently taken up the job to spin at the Pro-Am Singapore Basketball League Games, as well as at their festival. I will also be spinning at Bang Bang Club. Who is Mafiaa Thanaree?

Hey what’s up? My name is Mafiaa and I know it might sound too intimidating at first, but trust me, I am not like what you think right now. I am definitely not affiliated to any thugs or underground associations! I am like a mix of ½ Thai, ¼ Indian and ¼ Chinese. I am currently living in sunny (sometimes hazy) Singapore and I am at the young age of 23 years.

How do you describe your fashion style?

Simple, Comfy and Classic.

Are you constantly following and being updated of the latest fashion trends?

I would say that I am updated with the latest fashion trends. My interests lies in fashion and I love recording and documenting my daily outfits on Instagram. Additionally I do post make-up tutorials on both Instagram and Facebook.

What type of clothes suit you best?

I like clothes that flatter my body shape! Sometimes when I am running out of time but I still do need to look best in a jiffy, I would pick up my black playsuit, as not only does it emphasize my legs, which I believe to be my best body feature, it gives a simple yet classy look.

How do you stay in such fabulous shape?

First and foremost I am not perfect! My diet routine revolves around my mood, but I tend to avoid eating after 6 pm onwards and I believe in drinking lots of water. Though when I am hungry I still tend to snack on my favorites – chia seeds, yogurt and fruits.

What’s the best compliment you have received?

Hmm.. I do not believe that I get compliments often from people, but from time to time, I do get questions on how I maintain my complexion and figure!

What’s one overrated fashion accessory?

Nothing is overrated! I believe that all fashion accessories compliment one another and nothing is wasted or deemed unnecessary.

Which item can you not travel without?

My pillowcase! Haha! I know it sounds weird, but I feel at ease whenever I have it with me.

If you had the chance to travel to any place in the world, where will it be?

This is definitely an extremely terrible and difficult question! I love traveling so much, if only traveling was free and if I could split myself up I would love to be everywhere right now!

What kind of music best describes you?

I think I’m a little bit of everything…I can be R&B when I want to or Metal Rock only if you ask.

What’s sexy to you?

Self-confidence! There is much more to it than physical appearance. Without self-confidence, one would never be satisfied of their appearances.

I am in the midst of launching my online shop called “ ISI OFFICAL” and I have a YouTube Channel that I upload various types of make-up tutorials. I try my best to upload new tutorials regularly, depending on the amount of free time that I have. So hopefully, I would be able to garner more support on my projects!

Vanessa Chua gives her take on shopping, music and food

Hi! My name is Vanessa, better known as Levy or Vanessa Levy. I’ve had this nickname since I was 15, for no particular reason why but it caught on. I’m 22 years old and recently graduated from Lasalle College of the Arts with a Diploma in Graphic Design/Advertising. I am a huge sucker for David Attenborough films and in love with wildlife, mother nature and the great outdoors. I also have a thing for deep soulful conversations (over coffee or whiskey preferably).

How will you describe your fashion style?

Comfort! From head to toe, it’s pretty important when you are out for long hours. I usually equip myself with one favourite pair of comfy heels and flats so that I can hustle and bustle without my feet hurting at the end of the day. Heels are a sort of confidence booster for me as I have a rather petite frame. I also love basics, stuff that are easy to match. My wardrobe colour palette involves lots of nudes and greys, but with that being said I rarely dress up in black. I also don’t exactly like wearing skirts? Not a fan of skater skirts or dresses. If you ask me, one style inspiration would be from freepeople.com <3 I love their clothes!

Where do you usually shop?

Call me cheap but I loveeeee thrift shopping!! I LOVE a good bargain and there is always a certain sense of achievement in stretching your dollar. These days I’m usually just shopping for anything and everything on Carousell. If not, you will see me impulsively shopping in Bangkok. HAHA

Where can we find you partying on weekends?

Well, partying? I used to do, heavily hahaha but not anymore. On the weekends you can find me hanging out in bars with a group of close friends, drinking and laughing ourselves silly. It’s quality over quantity, which helps me to recharge and get ready for the week ahead!

Which type of music are you into?

It ranges. When I’m feeling inspired I listen to Ed Sheeran, John Mayer, Adele, Sam Smith, The Jezabels and Portugal. The man, but I love chilling out and dancing to RnB, Hip Hop, Rap and loads and loads of Trap.

If you had the chance to learn anything in this world, what will it be?

To learn a new language(s) so I will be able to converse with more people around the world.

Are you more of an introvert or extrovert?

I am more of an extrovert (esfp) but I also deeply value my alone time.

Do you have any guilty indulgence for food?

I am such a foodie, that I have so many guilty indulgences. But seafood would be the top of my list.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you before?

Can’t remember when the last time I embarrassed myself. Should be a pretty long time ago I guess, nobody likes being embarrassed so I guess it’s natural to try and avoid embarrassment at all costs!

Sexy is a guy with a cut throat jawline and ripped abs in nothing but jeans, showing off that happy trail AND dripping hot chocolate sauce all over himself HAHAHAHAHA

Who is Cheryl Tan?

Hey readers of SimplySxy! First off, I’m Cheryl and I’m a student majoring in event management from Singapore. I love sushi, anything pretty and my boyfriend. I’m really honored that I was asked to do this interview as well so thank you SimplySxy!

How will you describe your fashion style?

My style of fashion? Well it changes from time to time, I used to be in love with colours and anything quirky but now I’m more into black, white and grey. I still dress in colours but it all really goes down to what I’m feeling on that day. Some days I wake up and I’m like “I want to look like a walking rainbow” and others I’ll just want to dress in clothes as dark as my hair (brown-black).

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

I would have to say my lace demi bra.

Where do you usually shop?

This is a toughie. I shop online most of the time but I do shop at places like Topshop, Forever21, H&M.

What’s the most expensive item you have splurged on?

Definitely my platforms/flatforms. I hardly ever splurge on my clothes because I feel that with clothes you can always mix them up to give you a different look. Shoes on the other hand, there are lots to consider about such as sturdiness, material, comfort etc.

Do you have the urge to critic someone’s dress style if you see that it is a fashion catastrophe?

I’m going to be real honest and say yes I do critic people’s dress style and I’m not proud of it because I know that as long as at the end of the day that person is happy with the way they dress, it’s all that matters..

If you had the choice of any superpower, what will it be and why?

Oh no I can’t decide between invisibility and lightning fast speed because both ways I feel that I’ll be able to help people.

Blogger Chrysan Lee is one cool night owl

Hi Stranger!

I’m born with the name Chrysan, which very often people may think that it’s not real. Also, I’m only 148cm tall and am extremely proud to be a part of an awesome YouTube channel in Singapore. Wah!Banana! I blog sometimes and am pretty active on Instagram. Or so you can say, I’m jobless.

How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to start one?

I first started blogging when I was about 11 or 12? Because back then in the primary school that I was in, we had to learn how to use Blogger for a project. I started blogging ever since then and it’s like a diary to me. I have about 3-4 blogs till date and they are all private except for one that I still update which is open to the public now. The private ones are just…plain ridiculous. They range from long, as blog entries with VERY minimal pictures that look just like a boring essay with horrendous Singlish, to gaming shit and extremely private and emotional thoughts. A few of my friends have seen it and their reaction to it is..priceless!

Did you envisage your blog and yourself evolving to what it is today when you started?

ABSOLUTELY, absolutely, absolutely not. I blog such boring stuff and who knew you could make, receive or even learn something out of a blog so mundane and personal? Even having a few people wanting to read my blog at the start already came off as a surprise to me!

What makes you unique and different from other bloggers?

Okay. The thing is even though sometimes I do introduce myself as a blogger because I’m technically jobless and it works as a quick “excuse”, I do not consider myself as one. Because the truth is, I am definitely not established an recognised enough to be one. But if you ask me, I think…I’m just the “lupsup” one. Haha!

Who usually takes your photos?

OMG, ANYONE! Swear. Anyone who is free or cool to help can take pictures for me. Even a few days ago, a staff in a cafe did! If not most of the time, it’s just that few friends of mine that I hang out with.

Is there a particular fashion style you prefer or follow?

No. I suck at fashion. Really.

If you could join a reality show, which will it be?

You know the funny thing is, I don’t wanna join one. I actually really really want to have my own reality show instead! HAHAHA. Because I think I’d be funny. Okay, maybe not.

Are you more of a morning person or night owl?

Night owl. HANDS DOWN. You see me wake up in the evening or sleep at 11am and it’s not the least bit surprising to the people around me. Even if I try to stay awake for more than 24 hours just so I can sleep at the “right” time, I would still, for some reason sleep late. AGAIN. The cycle repeats! I blame it on having an active mind that only generates senseless thoughts at the weirdest things.

On a scale of 1-10, how much of a party girl are you?

It depends. But I can tell you it’s always either 1, or 15. Anything in between is worse than 1.

Funniest thing you’ve ever done or has happened to you?

Oh god…I cannot believe that the first thing that came up on my mind was showering with someone and then falling in front of them in the bathroom, NAKED. It was hilarious. Okay, that’s more like embarrassing. Hmm, funny..What’s funny..okay! I have one! There was once I was walking my sister’s German Shepard at Sentosa and I fell face down. The dog ran away. Alright, I guess I just have to admit that my life is nothing funny but full of embarrassing moments.

What’s the definition of sexy to you?

I love this question, I just have to share my point of view. If you’re talking about men, intelligence along with humour equals to sexy to me. Smart people are just naturally a hell lot sexier. HUGE plus point. Not book smart smart, but the creativity kind of smart. It turns me on. Hahaha!
