  • Why You Need An Escort Management Software To Run An Escort Agency

Why You Need An Escort Management Software To Run An Escort Agency

Businesses use different software to accomplish different tasks. More often than not, software solutions are used to manage and monitor inventory levels, automate several complex tasks, fulfil accounting, invoicing and billing responsibilities, etc. In simple words, software solutions help businesses grow.

The importance of software in any industry / niche cannot be discounted. Global sex industry is no different. This industry is crowded with escort agencies, brothels, sex workers, pimps, etc. In UK and the US, the economics of sex is beyond the comprehension of industry experts.

Truth be told, software can do precious little to control brothels, sex workers and pimps. However, when it comes to driving the business of an escort agency, an escort management software can do wonders!

#1: It lets you build an escort site

Just glance through popular discussion forums like Reddit. The most frequently asked questions are – how to start an escort agency, how to become an escort in UK, etc.

Let me throw some light on how to start an escort business.

    There are two steps:

    • Have a digital presence
    • Have a robust business model

The first and foremost step is to have a digital presence. In other words, an escort website is mandatory.

To create an escort website, you require an escort management software.

Of course, you can hire a web developer, a tester and an API developer from freelancing marketplaces. An experienced programmer charges you nothing less than $25 USD per hour. Smart entrepreneurs know that this age old method of hiring programmers and testers is not financially feasible.

The next step is to have a robust business model.

    Read on.

#2: It powers your business model

Very often, I’m asked this question – How do escort services work?

Allow me to explain how an escort agency works in the 21st century.

Step #1: Clients register themselves on the agency website, pay a subscription fee to unlock exclusive features and check the availability status of their favorite models. More often than not, payment gateways like CCBill are used to facilitate internet transactions.

Clients send not more than a couple of messages to escorts to conclude the booking process. This is accomplished through an internal messaging feature.

Step #2: Models get paid to work as escorts. They register on the escort site. They pay a fee to get their respective profiles featured. They respond to the messages of clients i.e., either accept or reject the booking(s).

Step #3: The escort site owner makes money when users book escorts i.e., a portion of users’ money is credited into his account. And yes, he makes money when escorts pay a monthly recurring subscription fee to get featured on his escort website.

Admin / Owner can also make money by featuring banner ads. He can sell adult merchandize – like used panties and lingerie of escorts, sex toys, etc.

In essence, an escort management software powers the business model of escort agencies by virtue of cutting-edge monetization channels.

#3: It helps you overhaul every activity

No activity is too insignificant to be ignored. Right from assisting you in banning haughty users to monitoring the transaction status of clients, a feature-rich escort management software will help you overhaul every activity of business management.

As an admin, you get complete access to source code. You can view and analyze user subscriptions. You can manage escort feature listings. There’s an admin dashboard that facilitates business management. You can set a commission fee for agency bookings. You are all powerful!

#4: It allows you to scale your business

An escort management software helps you build websites that are horizontally salable. As a matter of fact, horizontally scalable websites can handle insane volumes of web traffic and internet activity.

To tap clients from other countries, you can use a GEO based currency converter module. This module shows currencies based on the client’s country.

And yes, cutting edge escort management scripts use Google translate API to extend multi-language support.

    #5: It enhances customer experience

Customers love to search escorts by distance, filter profiles by categories, etc.

First timers usually love to read reviews and of different escorts. Clients like to rate escorts based on their experience. They like to share their experience.

Your escort website should take customer experience to the best possible level.

A vast majority of websites are mobile-responsive. Your escort agency website should be no exception. Modern day escort agency scripts let you build mobile-responsive websites that look pixel perfect on every screen.

Now that you know how to start an escort service and why you require an escort management software, let me summarize the list of must-have features that an escort agency software should have.

    1. Free installation
    2. Free and easy set-up
    3. Free lifetime support
    4. Free lifetime upgrades
    5. Mobile app support
    6. Brand building features to customize every aspect of site template, incorporate logos, etc.
    7. Booking panel to control, monitor and accelerate bookings
    8. Customer experience enhancers like filters, reviews, coupon code generators
    9. Payment gateway
    10. Horizontally scalable site architecture

  • What It’s Really Like To Be A Sex Worker

What It’s Really Like To Be A Sex Worker

Most people I’ve talked with seem to associate sex work with pimps, human trafficking, and drug addicts.

It’s this stigma that propels people to inform me without provocation that they ‘never would have known’ what I do for work based on my appearance and along with how I carry myself.

People also like to reassure me that they ‘don’t judge me’, even though I do not display any signs of guilt surrounding what I do; they assume two things: I’m obviously ashamed of sex work and am embarrassed to tell them (FYI, I’m not), and secondly, that I actually care about their personal views towards sex work in addition to me being a sex worker (FYI, I don’t).

With this being said, my own viewpoint regarding sex work is intrsincally good – though I do strongly believe it must be done for the right reasons along with proper ethics maintained as one would with any type of profession.

In regards to the dontaions requested by sex workers, I don’t view an SP’s rates as demeaning to a woman, nor do I see it as an indication of her worth as a woman. Instead, the rate to me reflects her quality of service. Like at any other job, your wages are typically indicative of how seasoned you are, your skill set, quality of service, etc.. When people express their disdain with the idea of “putting a price on my body/myself/my worth”, I explain to them that the rates I set are not what I deem myself worth, but rather what I feel is fair and appropriate based on the length of time I’ve spent in this industry in relation to the level of service I provide.

Regardless of whether others agree or not on my personal viewpoint, the bottom line is that fundamentally, every woman is priceless. Although upon face value this industry may seem degrading by placing a monetary value on women, it isn’t done in a way that determines my worth as human being.

How I Started Into Sex Work

In all honesty, I’m not a fan of this question. I relate to Gira Grant’s opinion on why people ask this, in which she feels that essentially it’s to determine how to view a sex worker: either as a victim or as an empowered woman. My start in the sex industry is personal to me and I can never change it. Instead, what has changed is my views on it and my reasons for continuing in it, which I can admit are much more healthy and less calamitous than when I first started.

What I Enjoy About Sex Work

My favourite aspect would have to be the process of building a connection with my clients; the connection established between myself and each new client within our first session will always determine the development of our relationship.

Paying attention to their likes and dislikes; their wants and needs; their personality traits; their mannerisms, which will dictate their comfort level; all these things are integral to forming a positive connection with my clients. Simply, I enjoy getting to know people and learning what I can do to make each session the most enjoyable for both of us.

  • How FOSTA & SESTA Has Affected The Sex Work Industry

How FOSTA & SESTA Has Affected The Sex Work Industry

I don’t think of sex work as sex work. Sex work is such a limited term that doesn’t begin to touch what I/we provide. I prefer the term Companion/Provider. I have been a Professional Companion since 2010, after leaving my corporate position as an Executive Assistant. That was the best decision I ever made!

I truly enjoy the experiences that I have been afforded, and the lives that I have been able to touch. We as companions are truly more than “Sex Workers”. We are consummate providers. I am a provider of many things (compassion, entertainment, intellectual stimulation, emotional support, motivation, inspiration, self-esteem, empowerment, knowledge, health, wellness, fantasy, erotica, sensual exploration, companionship, R&R, etc), but I’m still a person, and sometimes that concept gets lost when using the term “Sex Worker”.

    Has SESTA-FOSTA Achieved Its Purpose?

It is said that SESTA-FOSTA was designed to prevent websites from facilitating sex trafficking. It has shut down a lot of sites that many providers used in order to provide for their families, and some providers even turned to the streets. At the same time, it has also made it harder for LE to track trafficking victims. Once the major sites that were known to corporate in trafficking recovery were shut down, many new sites popped up and it became much harder for the agencies behind the SESTA-FOSTA movement to track down the trafficking victims.

It appears that the bill wasn’t carefully thought out, and it has made things more difficult for the parties involved and affected. Many blacklist sites, and trusted boards were also affected by this, and it has definitely made the verification process more strenuous, and many providers have been harmed/killed due to inadequate screening options, and advertising platforms. Since SESTA-FOSTA there has been an increase in assaults on providers, missing providers, and hrovider Homicides, and the trafficking victims are still unaccounted for…

Repercussions On Sex Workers From SESTA-FOSTA

There have been so many repercussions that providers/trafficking victims have faced since SESTA-FOSTA.

Everyone was affected differently, but in some form we were all affected…

By limiting the advertising platforms, some trafficking victims were sent back to work on the streets, where they face higher risk of violence, less compensation, and might never be found.

A lot of providers that depended on the sites that shut down were left in a position of financial despair, and they turned to the streets and some even turned to pimps to find dates, putting themselves in eminent danger just to survive.

Several providers dealt with some banks closing accounts, some hosting companies banning websites, some social media sites shadow banning/blocking adult accounts, a lot of ad platforms censoring content, etc.

There has also been an increase in provider assault/homicide since SESTA-FOSTA. With the disappearance of verification sites, dangerous men have been released back into our community in hopes of committing harm under anonymity. This situation isn’t just limited to the providers on the street. This situation has affected providers of all rates and echelons.

When providers and trafficking victims are criminalized, they are denied access to the equal protections of the law and they become easy targets for violence, exploitation, and trafficking. Providers/victims shouldn’t have to be in fear of reporting these violent crimes. If there was a better system in place for provider protection that would allow providers to report these assaults without backlash, it would help decrease these senseless attacks.

Are Clients Affected By The Changes?

I prefer to refer to them as suitors, because the term client seems a little impersonal for me.

I have noticed that since FOSTA-SESTA, some potential new suitors have become apprehensive about the screening process. I simply explain to them, that it’s a discreet safety precaution for both of us. Providers have not forgotten the Craig’s List Killer, and the terror he caused in our community. We don’t request your screening information for blackmail, we request your screening information, because you want to be in our personal space and we need to make sure that you’re safe to see, and you don’t have a history of assault/battery. At the end of the day, we have friends and family, just like you, and we want to be safe so we can see them again.

Potential suitors have also mentioned that they aren’t sure where to go to find reputable providers anymore. There are so many new platforms available to them now. Many have found Twitter to be a great personal insight to a provider’s personality in addition to her website. I always tell potential suitors that it’s important that you read a provider’s website in it’s entirety and that you do your due diligence to verify the provider for your safety prior to arranging a date.

Will There Be Improvements For A Better Sex Work Environment?

I feel that our community is resilient. Since the introduction of SESTA-FOSTA, there has been an outpouring of support between providers of all spectrums of the adult industry, and suitors. People seem to be using the available platforms to have the conversations and better inform each other. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but we’re working together towards a better environment, and we’re in a better place than we were months ago. When we put our minds together and support each other, there’s nothing that we can’t accomplish!

What Sex Workers & Suitors Can Do In The Meantime

The most important thing potential suitors can do is, read a provider’s website in it’s entirety prior to making contact, respect a provider and their policies, and understand the importance of screening. Being a companion is very rewarding, but there’s an occupational risk involved. Unfortunately, not everyone who wants to meet us is safe to see.

As a provider, the most important thing that we can do, other than provide unforgettable experiences, is use our platform to help our community and inform others. A person can’t do better, if they don’t know better.

  • What You Should Know Before Being A Sex Worker

What You Should Know Before Being A Sex Worker

I think Coco Chanel said it first, “The best things in life are free”. For me sex is one of those things and although it may not always be free, it is absolutely the best! Sex is something I enjoy, something I use for discovering new (and exploring old) boundaries and more than anything else, sex is a wonderful way for me to continue to grow.

When it comes to sex, where I am now versus where I was years ago is so completely different. I didn’t always view it with excitement or place any sort of value on sex other than something that I’d do quickly to relieve tension so I could get on with what I was doing. Growing up in a “traditional” Christian household and trying to fashion my life around American society’s view towards sex and sexuality, especially as it pertains to women, negatively affected my sexual growth and it wasn’t until later that I discovered how AMAZING and important sex is for me. I was trying to fit into a mold that was not for me. Seriously, looking back on it now, I don’t know how could I ever pick just ONE person to have sex with for the rest of my life. I mean, really? If this were a Jeopardy, I’d take “Get The F*@% Out of Here for $1000, Alex.

Needless to say, as it is now, my views on sex and sexuality are more grounded. I approach sex as play and I believe sex is meant for fun and exploration. I can explore parts of myself and make connections I otherwise would not have made and it’s a beautiful thing.

    Getting Into Sex Work

It seems that I’ve always felt a “calling” towards sex work. I had this sexual energy that I couldn’t quite put my finger on and because I didn’t understand it, I couldn’t express it. From a youngish age, I thought it would be fun to work as a companion but I was too scared to venture out and explore what that really meant any further than simply dreaming about it. For years I tried to ignore and push that desire away, trying to adhere to society’s rules and eventually, what is written in the stars is what’s written in the stars.

Fast forward a few years and I’m watching Game Of Thrones. There was a scene where these women in a brothel were doing what they do best and for some reason, something about this scene hit me. It was my “ah ha” moment and I thought to myself, “that would be the freakin’ life…having sex, having fun and getting paid to do it” and at that moment I knew what I should have been doing and that was being a sex worker.

I love sex work because I get to be true to myself. There is just something about tapping into my primal nature that is so freeing and fulfilling. After YEARS of denying my feelings about what I suspected I’d LOVE doing, here I am. As a matter of fact, I believe being in the sex industry has made me a more compassionate and confident person. The thing I enjoy the most is that the possibilities for discovery are endless. We all have our different ways of viewing and expressing ourselves and I love that, for the most part, I am able to freely explore and partake in whatever I find exciting. There seem to be no limits and I love that!

    Misconceptions About Sex Work

OMGoodness! Let me try not to roll the eyes out of my head regarding all of the dumb shit I’ve heard over the years. I don’t think that there is enough space in this issue of SimplySxy to list all of the ignorant misconceptions I’ve heard. More often than not, I usually hear “(Women) sex workers have daddy issues”. I can only speak for myself and I most certainly do have daddy issues… I love salt and pepper daddies and dominant daddies, but that is probably not what they meant by daddy issues. If this is really the concern, what are the people who spout this crap doing to help turn that around? How about we start teaching boys/young men to aspire to the same institutions, like marriage, that we teach girls to do?

Then there’s the “sex workers are pimped out” bullshit. My response to that is “hell-to-the-yeah!” I’m my own damn pimp and I’m having fun doing it, so now what? It’s like listen here yoyos… get over yourselves! Just because I’m having sex, making money and enjoy doing it, doesn’t mean that I am being pimped out. At what point will it be okay for me to live my life the way I want and not based on what society thinks I should do? Aren’t you trying to control me or pimp me out by telling me the “right way” to live my life? I mean if that is the logic, then am I not being pimped out if I work at a vanilla job where they hired me and use me based on what I can do to help them generate a profit? What’s the difference? The only difference I see it the type of work being done.

Let’s not forget the one that really gets my blood boiling. “Sex workers are uneducated”. What is this even based on? Sex workers are lawyers, accountants, nurses and on and on. Some people would be surprised to know that it takes an intelligent and independent thinker to even explore this life and be comfortable with all it has to offer. People who spout this ignorant BS are really unhappy and have repressed sexual issues, either of their own doing or because they want to be “good” people based on what society says is “right”. I have never understood why unhappy people want to make EVERYONE else just as unhappy as they are. Shouldn’t they be trying to learn from those of us who are happy and living a good life? Ignorance is not always bliss and until people are ready to make lasting and effective changes, usually starting with themselves, they can go kick rocks as far as I’m concerned.

How The Sex Work Industry Works

The industry is different for everyone. There are similar experiences had by performers and producers but overall, in my experience, it is not a one size fits all type of industry. I’ve had wonderful experiences partly because I do this for fun and I don’t “have to” take a gig in order to pay rent or meet other important obligations.

A while ago, I shot for a couple of production companies and it was fun but it was an all day, 8-hour day type of booking. That experience totally gave me a real look at this industry, in that while we have fun, it is most certainly a business. There is a good amount of work involved to get a project just right and tailored to the right demographic, but it has always been a wonderful experience.

Lately, I’ve been running into quite a few performers who don’t seem to have their shit together. From not returning emails in a timely manner, not having their tests and the back and forth multiple unnecessary emails to confirm a shoot. Granted I mainly shoot for my site and ManyVids store so I primarily do content trade shoots so I understand people are about paid shoots but c’mon folks, what in the hell is going on? I make good money with my personal website and ManyVids sales so I guess I’m not really in the same position as others but why not make money together and keep more of it in our pockets since we’ll own the content?

What I’m happiest about is being the co-owner of Strokehouse Productions, which means that I am not beholden to anyone. We do what we like, we are our own bosses and it is wonderful!

Staying Unique As A Sex Worker

There’s nothing more unique than being yourself. There’s only one you and no one can do you, better than you! Let people in to see the real you and don’t do anything you don’t like because its “trending”. In addition to that, I’d suggest knowing something about the demographics you’d like to reach and do something unique to cater to them.

As far as a following, when you are authentic and true to yourself, people connect with that and feel that they can relate to you. It’s about being relatable, vulnerable and having a presence on social media. Speaking of social media, you must, must, MUST interact with other performers and your fans and I’m not just talking about liking a tweet here and there. Engage, have an opinion, show off and have fun BUT keep it light. Sharing personal ideas and feelings about religion, politics and finances aren’t really turn-ons. They are more like mood killers, so stay away from those issues or having any sort of major conflicts with anyone online. Handling issues in private will serve you much better than trying to prove anything publically.

    Advice For Aspiring Sex Workers

Do your best not to be afraid of or care what people think. If this is something you want to pursue, then do it all the way. Don’t let anyone tell you what you can and can’t do. Since I’ve heard this little tidbit of advise from RuPaul, it has really stuck with me and now I’ll share it with you. RuPaul says, “unless they (are) paying your bills, pay them bitches no mind!!!” Bottom line, do you because no one can do it the way you do it.

Another thing I think is very important to consider is having an understanding of what you want from this industry. When you understand what you want and have an idea of where you want to go in this industry, you can put a plan in place to make it happen. No matter what you do, it is important to have a plan, to know where you want to go and how you’re going to get there.

Please keep in mind that it is going to require effort and time on your end. Sometimes things will go smoothly and a lot of times they won’t. The trick is to keep moving towards your goal and following your plan even when it seems nothing is working out. There’s nothin’ to it but to do it! Good luck to you!

  • How To Keep Escort Liaisons & Affairs Discreet Part II

How To Keep Escort Liaisons & Affairs Discreet Part II

Is Engaging An Escort Better Than Having An Affair?

I hate saying something is better or worse than another option.  Ultimately, it boils down to why they are desiring the affair in the first place.  If the reasons include being disinclined to hurt their spouse, yes, an escort is better and more discreet.

Escorts have honed and tailored their whole world to provide discretion.  They have had more practice, and done more research, into avoiding prying eyes.  You won’t usually find an escort falling so in love, that they demand you dismantle your life and leave your current spouse.  They are often far more conscious of ramifications, complications, and risks than your average friend or colleague.  From awareness of STDs and safe sexual practices, to employing a lawyer like confidence.

How To Keep Escort Liaisons A Secret

There are many ways.  It’s important to pick and choose which ways by knowing your significant other well.  So let’s start with the basics.  Presuming you have already done all of your research and selected a couple of escort candidates, from there you need to start cleaning up the path that brought you here.

    • Create a discreet email account (ideally encrypted) with a password you don’t usually use. This is now your ‘fun’ email. It should ONLY be used for your liaisons.  Remember to always log out of it when you are done using it.  A good example is protonmail.
    • *Computer cleanup. Erase your cookies first. (See diagrams) Your phone, computer, and tablet all of these functions.  This is primarily done in the browser(s) you have used in your research.  Next you are going to want to erase your history.  Finally, empty your computer/smart phones trash bin.  This is not a one time deal.  Do this EVERY SINGLE TIME you visit an escort site, your ‘fun’ email, or anything that directly relates.  Remember, even if you erase this often, the lack of evidence can sometimes be evidence itself.  So avoid using communal household computers if possible.*
    • Which leads me to my next point. Alternate phones.  This one is difficult because you have to either hide the phone, or have a good reason for having it.  I strongly suggest a nice burner phone.  One you can get at Walmart.  This phone can be kept at work, in your car, or other good hiding place.  *picture provided* Remember to still utilize the two steps above.  There is no such thing as being too cautious.  DO NOT buy the phone online.  Buy it at the store and in person.  This goes for your refill cards as well.

    • Discreet funds. Don’t pull the money out for your entertainment all at once, or have a good reason for doing so.  Try to avoid lying.  Both because you love this person, and the lie will hurt than more than the activity (usually) and because lying is difficult to keep up with.  The closer you stay to the truth, the better.  You can utilize several discreet debit like cards as well.  I personally favor the bluebird card.  It’s a good way to tuck away rainy day funds, send money discreetly, and for those that like to buy their companions gifts.  DON’T keep receipts.  Try to book your hotels using the alternate banking/prepaid cards.  It may take awhile to find out which ones take those cards, so ask your providers if they know of any in your area.

    Examples:

    • Take money out for gambling. Go and gamble a little bit, tuck away your winnings or a portion of the money you were playing with.
    • Take money out to buy your partner a gift, buy them a gift, tuck away the extra into your private play fund.
    • Surprise bonuses, tips, or unexpected income is good to tuck away as well.
    • The further in advance you plan ahead for your liaison, the better. Steps to planning ahead…
      • Create a cover story. This is best done by staying as close to the truth as possible (as I mentioned above).
      • Start absently dropping mentions about your cover story. If it falls under “business trip”  Start mentioning the possibility that your job may be sending you someplace and you don’t really want to go.  It’s very important that you avoid shoving your excuse at your partner.  Be subtle, do research to back up your story.
    • Tie as little to your name as possible. Your companion (or affair partner) should already have your information.  So there is no harm in reducing the paper trail as much as you can.
    • Back up clothing. A clean button up, and pair of slacks left in the car or at the office can prevent you from tracking perfume and makeup home.
    • Request little to no makeup and/or little to no perfume in advance. Most ladies understand this is a request for discretion, and are amicable.  Provided you are not aggressive, demanding or rude about your request.
    • Tucked away travel bag. This bag should host your usual shampoo and soap.  You come home smelling just like you left.  Make sure to tuck this away in advance.
    • Don’t tempt fate. “Don’t shit where you eat”.  Both statements mean the same thing and yet this is the biggest mistake I see most make.  If you can avoid playing within a 50 mile radius of home, you should.  NEVER invite a companion to your personal home if you believe your partner will return within the next 24 hours.  Unless you plan for your own death by marital suicide or intend to make it a three way.
    • Finally, if you intend to repeat with different companions. Make sure to make a good impression. Having a solid reference (or three) on hand can make all the difference in your ability to access company in new and exotic locations.  It reduces the paper trail and cuts back on your risk of hiring the wrong partner.    You also get the added bonus of a connection network.

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that it’s possible, your partner won’t mind you seeing a companion.  If you think they would be open to letting you explore in a safe and professional way, just open a dialog.  Don’t let it push into argument territory but express your interests.  Be prepared, asking for permission can put you under a microscope for some time

    Advice For First Time Clients

This is a tough one.  In the current climate, many escorts are hesitant to accept a new face.  I would strongly urge you to do your research first and foremost.  Collect a small handful of potential candidates.  Look for the profiles that say “newbie friendly”  It’s important to know what you want to get out of hiring a companion.  It will help narrow down your results.   Next, read up on each escort.  Normally, you would find instructions on how to contact her and what should be included in that first correspondence.  If there are no instructions, treat that first contact almost professionally.  Be clear and concise on what you want, when you are interested in meeting, and a small paragraph about yourself.  Avoid being crude, rude, or even asking out any form of sex.  Above all, be respectful and polite.

I would like to tie this article up with one simple all encompassing piece of advice.  Research.  There are many people that have written about ways to keep your dalliances from coming to light.  There is so much more information about the industry just beyond the veil of preconceived notions and social/political propaganda.  If you seek it, you will find it.

  • How To Keep Escort Liaisons & Affairs Discreet Part I

How To Keep Escort Liaisons & Affairs Discreet Part I

The sex industry is a fascinating subject.  Why?  Because it is in a constant state of winding in and out of everyone’s lives daily. From the porn industry, to the happy ending message parlor.   The sex industry doesn’t just exist quietly.  It is millions of shadows pacing down the street unnoticed.  Defiantly tucked in the corner of your eyes.

I don’t just view sex work as work.  It’s therapy, liberation, and a fantasy escape.  For both client and SWer.   Much like any job you might endeavor, it can be amazing, or daunting.  Some, will find their ‘best life’ in SW, others will hate it but remain just for the financial freedom it provides.  Contrary to what the world will have you believe, that is common for any job, occupation, or career, out there.  The negatives touted about the industry are the same negatives you will find elsewhere in other occupations.  Unlike most others occupations,  You can pick and choose the jobs that are comfortable for you.  You have the liberty to take the occupational role and tweet it to fit your own needs and comfort levels.  Essentially, it feels as if someone has handed you the wheel to drive your own life.

Just beneath the surface of your everyday life, lives another world.  When the rest of the world hears “sex worker” they immediately imagine, short skirts, and disease riddled street walkers.  Only, this second world is vast and filled with so very much more.  Web performers, dancers, porn actresses/actors, and even professional cuddlers.  It is it’s own fully diverse society.

I love SW.  I enjoy it from both perspectives, inside and out.  In sex work, I found the control and freedom I desperately needed.  A balm to a past life I barely remember anymore.

    Diversity Of Clients

Clients stem from all walks of life.  Rich, poor, charismatic, socially impaired, the clients are as diverse as the escorts themselves.  It’s not just men that employ escorts, either.  You will find women and couples enjoying the luxury of an escort.  Lawyers, doctors, politicians, truck drivers, accountants, and even teachers.  The type of people that employ escorts essentially boils down to two types.  The thrill seekers, and those that are missing something.   Companionship, intimacy, and even safe sexual exploration.

    Reasons Men Engage Escorts

Most are looking for something beyond sex.  Don’t get me wrong, they want sex too, but it’s not the primary hole they are trying to fill.  Pun absolutely intended.  It’s the intimacy, being close to another human being.  Some don’t even know why they find themselves on the path looking for an escort.

    • They are lonely. Sometimes, the spouse passes, there is a big breakup, or the client simply has a difficult time attracting a long term mate.
    • They fear rejection. With an escort, they can practice courting, intimacy, and socializing, without fear of direct rejection.
    • Lost passion. They love their spouses, but the passion has turned to more of a best friend situation.  Their spouses have long since stopped the rampant intimacy that had been there at the beginning.  So instead of an affair, they find a professional.
    • Unique or judged sexual preferences. Sometimes the client wants to explore something that they fear their spouse, or partner, will reject.  I have several clients that enjoy dressing up as women, for example.  Others that want to explore their fantasies without hurting or upsetting their partners.
    • Human beings commit to monogamy because they feel obliged to do so. There is a insurmountable amount of evidence that theorizes and proves human beings are not meant to be monogamous sexually.  A trip to the psychology section of your local library or book store will happily delve deeper into this subject.

I could go on and on and on.  The reasons people see escorts is as varied as the reasons people enjoy art or music.

  • The World Of Sex Work & Pornography

The World Of Sex Work & Pornography

Idealistically, sex work is about providing someone with something they cannot otherwise obtain. For some it is simply sex. For others it is intimacy and connection. Often it is a combination of both. Personally, I want my work to be healing and inspire growth. Professionally, “the oldest and most honest profession” is a term that rings true for me. Sure, things like a bed, lubricant, and handcuffs may be involved, but on a base level, sex work is an exchange between (consenting) adults that only requires the bodies of those involved.

    Misconceptions Of Sex Work

The most common misconception about sex work is that it results from a lack of options, that we are taken advantage of by those that hire us, and that drugs usually have something to do with it…

It’s not as if sex workers feel they cannot do anything else so they resort to sex work. Most sex workers choose this work because it’s what they would like to do; because it is what they are comfortable with and what they feel they are good at. There are people in any profession that hate their jobs and feel the need to bitch about it all the time, but even those people are commonly doing such work because they know how to and it will support them. As for the presence of drugs in sex work, this can mostly be associated with sex work on the streets. Otherwise, like any other job, workers either do or don’t do drugs. In my experience, sex workers are a far more sober people than those in hospitality or those that can’t wait to get home from work to have a drink 5+ days a week.

Our media is a big part of what perpetuates negative stereotypes of sex workers. Look at your run of the mill cop shows: the sex workers are called “prostitutes” and “hookers”, are typically of the street variety, and are portrayed as having no moral compass, no drive, and often drug habits that clients/pimps take advantage of it. And it seems that they are almost always smokers. Do you really think I would be successful if I smelled like cigarettes?

Effect Of FOSTA-SESTA On Sex Workers

FOSTA-SESTA makes websites liable for their users’ speech. So now when someone were to, say, post comments about rape or trafficking or prostitution – even if that violates the terms and conditions of the website and even if the website has systems to remove such material ASAP – that website can be held liable for that language

    …even if it’s just language…

and even if this language appeared (and undefined amount of time) before the bill was passed. This bill is far from constitutional and logically should be shot down by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, so the internet is not sure how to respond. Review sites are shutting down, preventing workers’ exposure to clientele that care for their reputation and preferences. Safety and alert boards for workers to notify each other of unwanted, shady, and dangerous clients, etc. are disappearing. Sites originally (and solely) available for advertising are being shut down, voluntarily removing their ad spaces, or greatly altering the terms and conditions of workers who wish to advertise. All of a sudden we have less space to advertise and are allowed a very narrow range of language and descriptions to convey what we have to offer and the desired terms and conditions of our work.

Say you were searching for a spa treatment, and instead of

“60 min Swedish massage w/ aromatherapy and bathing facilities, Mon- Thu 9am to 4pm, no walk-ins or checks accepted,  $200/ 1 hour $275/90 minutes” a spa’s description would read, “Body sore? We can help!”

What would you have to go through in order to find out what the spa had to offer? What would the spa have to go through before realizing that you are not even a potential customer? Considering the harm that can come to sex workers because of it’s (somehow still) illegal status and lack of protection from the law, when the insurances and securities that the internet has provided us have been stripped away, the work just became a lot more difficult to obtain, a lot less safe for those involved, and lot more alluring to those that look to take advantage of these things.

So far, the bill has greatly affected female and trans sex workers more so than male and gay male sex workers. Many are going back to the streets. Some are looking for the pimps they never thought they would need. Women have already gone missing – possibly grabbed by the very same sex traffickers that this bill was supposed to discourage.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Clients are being scared away by the thought that they could be prosecuted for sex trafficking while only browsing for consenting individual sex workers. Some are even eager to haggle workers down on their rate because of this increased risk for them. The sites that we still advertise on? They aren’t going to charge us any less to keep our ads up although the availability and efficacy of their sites have greatly diminished.

    Pornography Is The Next Target

Pornography is already being targeted. Bills are being written to prevent the distribution of pornography and remove it from the internet. Trends amongst non-profits and feminist supported groups of conflating porn models with sex traffickers are on the rise. The End Banking for Human Traffickers Act being supported by Elizabeth Warren and Marko Rubio, combined with the new vague redefinition of supporters of sex trafficking that FOSTA/SESTA imposes, will make it easy for the government to seize the bank accounts of porn companies and porn models. What people don’t realize is that this even makes companies like Amazon vulnerable to these bills. And guess who has major beef with companies like Amazon and porn models: Donald Fucking Trump.

    Popular Porn Genres Currently

Amateur porn seems to be the new ticket. Who needs studios when you can sell your own content – when you can just record your personal sex life and ask people to support you for sharing it?

How Porn Will Evolve In Future

Most males have brains that are designed to objectify – easily aroused by merely a visual. Female (and arguably half of gay male/lesbian) brains are designed to be aroused by more than just a visual. Context, familiarity, and trust have a lot do with it. Think of it as survival instincts.

Alas, straight males are the ones who dominate and own the industry. Therefore pornography serves mostly one type of brain: that which is easily aroused and is designed to objectify. Whether or not “sex sells”, it is shamed by popular culture and sexual media is censored and prohibited. I fear the evolution of porn almost entirely surrounds technological advancements. So get ready for virtual porn! Super high definition closeups of private parts! People that look a lot like all the other people in porn having sex in 4D!

  • What It’s Like To Work At A Sex Club

What It’s Like To Work At A Sex Club

For me; sex is a natural, intimate experience that is shared between two people. Sex can be a romantic or platonic way for two people to connect on a level that is not only physical or emotional; but even psychological.

    Photo: www.andyleephotography.com

What Working At A Sex Club Is Like

I am currently an AquaFlirt at Oasis Aqualounge located in downtown Toronto. My job entails hosting sex-based, educational events at the club, attending trade shows such as ‘The Everything to do with Sex Show’, Pride, etc. Representing the club and promoting our club’s sex and body positive values.

Behind the scenes, I run the Instagram of the Oasis AquaShop (our clothing line) as well as Aquabella (our club’s RealDoll). I also manage and or maintain the club’s websites. I have a lot of fun at my job. The people that frequent Oasis are quite wonderful. I feel fortunate to be involved in such a judgement-free, open minded community; surrounded by such kind and compassionate people. There is so much respect that is shared between every member of the club and in the seven months of working there; so far I have liked every person I’ve met.

    Common Misconceptions About Sex Clubs

Quite often people assume the environment is more “intense” than it really is. I think there is a stigma surrounding sex clubs. I would compare Oasis to a yacht club. However instead of people going, grabbing a drink, socializing and talking about their love of boats; people come, grab a drink, go swimming, sit in the sauna, relax, chat and learn about how to enhance their sex lives.

It is very much a sexual, social club. Sure, of course sex is permitted within the clubs play-spaces. However I find most people come to connect on a level much deeper. They come to make friends, spend time with the friends they’ve made there, make connections with like minded people, network and overall become more involved within the community.

Rules To Follow Before Joining A Sex Club

There are a list of rules members must follow.

You must respect one-another’s boundaries and never proceed to do anything, even as simple as hug someone, without their consent to do so.

I often find new members are under the impression that “anyone here must be fair game” and that is NEVER true. There are multiple reasons one may choose to attend Oasis; to swim, socialize, have a drink, attend a work shop, etc. Not everyone who is there wishes to be approached for sex. That is something that must be accepted by anyone who wishes to be a part of this club.

You must also be respectful to anyone regardless of age, race, gender (or lack there may be of if someone does not identify with the spectrum), orientation or appearance. It is very important that our club be a SAFE space for anyone and everyone in our community. Which is something I truly love about Oasis. Homophobia, racism, transphobia, kink/slut-shaming or body shaming is strictly prohibited.

Diversity is what makes our community within our club wonderful but the acceptance and appreciation we have for one another and the things that make us unique is what makes our community beautiful.

When Happens At A Sex Club

We change our events nightly and weekly. If you came to Oasis everyday for an entire month, there would always be something different going on. Quite often we host demonstrations, workshops and presentations related to educating our members about new ways to explore their sex-lives. There is always something for everyone. Some nights we host speed-dating and ice-breaking games and activities to help singles connect over common interests. The best advice I have for anyone planning to attend Oasis for the first time is to come in with no expectations. Only expect to have a good time.

    Photo: The Sensual Eye

Tips To Know Before Working At A Sex Club

I would highly recommend attending a sex-club more than once before diving in to the adult industry. I feel that in order to work within the community; you need to experience the community first; learn about the people, the etiquette, the culture, the interests of others and most importantly you must learn about yourself.

I attended Oasis multiple times as a member before applying; as I spent more time getting to know others I got to learn so much about myself, what I enjoyed, what I was looking for (out of my partner and my lifestyle), what I wanted to learn more about; even that I was more comfortable with myself, my body and my sexuality than I was to start off with.

  • Misconceptions About Escorts

    Misconceptions About Escorts

Well, I can only speak for legal sex workers in brothels – but a common misconception is that the job is dirty and seedy. That only desperate people with no options become sex workers. As well as only freaks and creeps seek out the services of sex workers. Sex workers and their clients are typical, normal, everyday people you wouldn’t be able to pick out on a city street outside of the brothel. For individuals who enjoy sex and making personal connections, sex work is a fine way of earning a living. It’s safe, everyone is clean, and on a day-by-day basis it’s not much different from any other job. The customers themselves come from all backgrounds and all walks of life as well. Many sex workers are college educated, in loving stable relationships, have and care for families, and possess other qualities typical of any other place of work. With more opportunities for sexy good fun.

A misconception about legal brothels and sex workers is that the places are all super glamorous and only cater to the upper class and celebrities. While there are facilities and sex workers who do focus on that market, many are open to anyone seeking out the services and are warm, welcoming, accepting places to go. Majority of legal brothels and sex workers can work with most budget ranges so long as the requests are reasonable.

Another misconception about legal sex work in Nevada is that legal sex workers and brothels are available in Las Vegas and Reno, proper. In reality, it is not legal for there to be brothels operated in the counties those cities are in and prostitution across the board is illegal in those counties. Sex workers can accompany customers to those cities on outdates if the sex worker works at a brothel in a county that allows for that service, but legal sex workers are not available in those cities. Anything someone sees advertised as being physically located in those cities isn’t legal. Brothels in areas in counties that are very close to those cities will advertise their proximity as such but not being in those actual cities (and those brothels tend to offer ride services to and from established places in those cities for customers)

    Preventing Misconceptions Of Escorts

More media outreach that isn’t just shameless business promotion. Penn & Teller did a Showtime series called “Bullshit!” (or “BS!” in some areas) and they did an episode on Prostitution. They discussed the illegal industry but also spent a lot of time discussing legal brothels and how they work – demystifying them and humanizing the workers while still being appealing to their target TV audience. Some sex workers use social media, websites, and blogs to showcase how truly normal they are and the work is, as well as make connections with other people.

Some shifts in societal and cultural views would have to happen as well. In talk in regards to Feminism, “sex workers” are still a divisive subject. Some feminist groups find sex work empowering and valid, others demeaning and dehumanizing. Sex in and of itself would have to become less of a taboo topic too. People are still hesitant to be open about their sexuality as well as sexual needs and desires, so talking about a profession that involves sex is difficult. When sex itself is seen as less dirty and taboo, more normal for adults to partake in, then sex work itself will be an easier topic to talk about and educate on and seen in a more positive light. We’ve come a long way in the last century, but there is still a lot of progress to be made!

  • Differences Between Working In A Brothel & Being Independent

Differences Between Working In A Brothel & Being Independent

    Safety and legality.

In the United States, including the state of Nevada, it is illegal to be an independent sex worker. Or, essentially, to sell sexual services in exchange for money, only in the state of Nevada are brothels legal (so a brothel not in the state of Nevada is not legally allowed to be operating) and even then, there are counties where brothels are not legal to open and operate (such as the counties the cities of Las Vegas and Reno are located).  To be able to open and operate a brothel, the owner must get a license for it from the county they desire to be located in. (So the brothels themselves have to legally be owned and operated based on county, as well as the sex workers themselves requiring a legal license.) So long as the sex workers and the brothel owners and staff follow the laws put in place by the state and county, they do not risk any trouble with law enforcement.

When not legally licensed to work in a legal Nevada brothel, an independent sex worker is at risk of coming in contact with law enforcement and being arrested and prosecuted. There are no legal protections for independent sex workers aside from basic human rights (for example, if an independent sex worker is murdered it’s still considered a murder and the person who committed the crime is charged as such). However, most if not all independent sex workers are cautious of law enforcement where even if they feel they are in danger, they do not seek out help because they fear legal repercussions.  It also can be illegal in places for customers to pay money in exchange for sexual services so they’re not protected by law enforcement either.

With safety, it’s also a clear difference. By law, legal sex workers in brothels are required to be tested for all STDs and show to be free of any to be able to work. Also by law, barrier protection for sex acts is mandated. Sex workers also have to check a potential client for any signs of infection during the genital check before accepting the party. Brothels also have staff and security to make sure the sex workers and customers are safe and protected. A rowdy customer in a brothel will be removed as opposed to being a risk to the sex workers and other customers. A sex worker who acts out of line breaking rules and especially the law, is also fired and removed from the premises.

While I don’t doubt many independent sex workers do their own screening of clients to not only make sure they’re not cops, but that they’re safe as well as use safe sex precautions, it’s not a known thing the way it is in the legal brothels. A client going to a legal brothel knows they’re going someplace safe and secure, and a sex worker knows that if anything does go awry, there are people on their side present to help them. In the case of the law, because legal brothels are, well, legal, the police are also able to help a sex worker or customer in need without fear of arrest or judgement. So in case something bad does happen, there’s no hesitation with getting help. When someone sees an illegal independent sex worker they’re taking more of a gamble on everything.

Feasible Ways Brothels Can Compete With Independent Escorts & Agencies

This is complicated because of the laws. There’s statewide laws for brothels and legal sex workers, as well as laws that vary county by county. While brothels are utilizing the internet, what with having websites and using social media (to the best of their ability and legality), customers still have to physically travel to the brothels to meet and pay for services with a sex worker. There are ways for illegal escorts and their customers to book everything online and even go to the customer’s desired location. While some brothels are working on online reservation processes and daily updated lineups on their websites, the parties can only be paid for in person and it’s not legal for a brothel sex worker to go to a client.

Another edge is there is more variety in the independent scene – such as male and Transgender sex workers – to cater to as much of a potential market as possible. Currently, no operating brothel hires male sex workers, and while requests have been made every so often for Transgender sex workers, none currently working at a legal brothel fits that description. However, there is talk about this one day changing as demand does increase and county laws also adjusting to accommodate so the legal brothel industry could meet such demands in the first place.

But the biggest thing is the rise of technology and the ability to book sessions and accept payment digitally where everything is more immediate is where the illegal independent scene has an advantage (as well as disclosing prices for services online) despite the obvious illegality. For some changes to be made in the brothel scene, laws themselves would have to be adjusted accordingly
