  • How safe are my Toys?

    How safe are my Toys?

A recent scare in Sweden prompted an investigation on sex toys after some were known to contain a toxic chemical called Phthalates.  There have been many reported cases in recent years of children’s toys containing dangerous chemicals especially those produced in China.  As China is the major exporter of sex toys, producing 70 percent for the world’s market, how are we certain that the materials used are safe for us to put into our bodies?  If you are thinking of purchasing a toy or already own one, here are 5 tips you should follow for your safety.

    Tip 1 – Buy “Phthalate-free” toys

Phthalates are a chemical used to make plastics more flexible and softer.  They are banned in children’s toys but can be found in nail polish, adhesives, paint pigments and sealants.  The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) classifies Phthalates as a possible human carcinogen (cancer causing).  Other studies have also linked Phthalates to infertility, reproductive issues, kidney and liver damage.  A Greenpeace-TNO reported that seven out of eight sex toys contained more than one Phthalates in varying concentrations from 24 to 49 percent.

As no safety regulations currently exist for sex toys, packaging with “Phthalate-free” claims are unverified and might also be false.  Nonetheless, looking out for it is a good place to begin.

Tip 2 –  Do not buy soft toys that bend

Sex toys that are soft and bend easily are most likely to contain Phthalates.  This check is particularly important especially if the packaging does not mention the materials used in producing the toy.

    Tip 3 – Smell it

If the sex toy smells “rubbery”, unpleasant or similar to that of a “new car”, take it as a warning sign.

Tip 4 – Look for harder sex toys

To reduce the risk of exposure to Phthalates in your sex toys, buy toys that are made from silicon, Pyrex glass or stainless steel.  Not only are these toys plastic free, they are also non-porous.  Non-porous toys have a smooth and impermeable surface that does not have any tiny nooks for bacteria to hide in.

Tip 5 – Look out for quality through the branding

As 70 percent of the world’s sex toys are made in China, chances are the one which you are thinking of buying or already own comes from there.  Beware of toys that are not of a household brand and are sold cheaply due to the low quality of materials used in manufacturing.  Brands such as Lelo, OhMiBod, We-Vibe, JimmyJane, Nexus, B Swish, Fleshlight ensure a high level quality standard for their products.  Your sex toy is going to give you all the fun you can get.  Do not put your health at risk as a result of buying a toy just because it is cheap.  Quality products are safer, last for years and leaves you stress-free to fully enjoy them.

    Be Informed

Now that you have gone through our 5 buying tips, be sure to do your homework by reading up on the sex toy you are considering buying.  This allows you to shop at ease to protect your body and your money.

  • Emergency Contraceptive Pill

I am and have always been a strong advocate for safe sex.  But I have had my fair share of breaking condoms, raw sex with internal ejaculation in the heat of passion and even the drama of locating a dislodged condom after sex.  If you happen to go through such an experience, do not panic.  Rushing to the shower and flushing your vagina with water or using your fingers to scoop the semen out is not going to help reduce the risk of pregnancy.  I have used the Emergency Pill before and it is a method we ladies can turn to in the event of such unforeseen circumstances.

What is the Emergency Contraceptive Pill?

Also known as the Morning After Pill, it is a birth control pill containing high doses of the hormones Progestin.  These hormones stops or delays the release of a woman’s eggs.  When this happens, there is no egg to join with the sperm and pregnancy will not occur.  In addition, Progestin also thickens the woman’s cervical mucus which blocks the sperm and prevents it from joining the egg.  The risk of pregnancy is estimated to be reduced by 75-90%.

When must I take the Pill?

As soon as possible after unprotected sex.  Usually the pills can be taken within 5 days but its effectiveness decreases as time passes.  The pills are taken in 2 doses, one immediately and the second after 12 hours.

How do I know if it is effective?

The next menses cycle after taking the pill is usually earlier or later, and the flow lighter or heavier.  It is recommended to take a pregnancy test 3 weeks after taking the Emergency Pill.   See a doctor if you experience symptoms of pregnancy.

    Are there any side effects?

Nausea is the most common side effect experienced, and in some cases, vomiting.  Other side effects include bleeding between periods, breast tenderness, dizziness, tiredness and headaches.  The side effects usually lasts for 1-2 days and anti-nausea medication is normally given to women.

How and where can I buy them?

The Emergency Pill is widely available in clinics and hospitals.  In Singapore, GP clinics and gynecologists carry it.  Do note that the woman herself must consult the doctor to get a prescription for the pill.  It is not available to be bought over the counter and the man cannot buy on behalf for the lady.

    A reminder….

This is an Emergency Pill, not an abortion pill.  As its name implies, it prevents pregnancy and does not cause an abortion.  Emergency contraception is for one time use and should not be substituted for regular birth control.

The Emergency Pill does not protect against Sexually Transmitted Infections.  Take an STI test if there is a chance you might have gotten a sexually transmitted infection.

Note: If you have been sexually assaulted or forced to have unprotected sex, notify the police immediately.

  • Condom Tips

    Condom Tips

When it comes to sex, everyone wants to have the best time of their lives.  Hence, it is better to be safe than sorry.  Condoms are one of the best contraceptive options (99% effective) that can prevent unwanted pregnancies and STIs including HIV.

Below is a four step method to follow in ensuring proper use of a condom during sex.

    Step 1

A condom must be put on first before coming into contact with the vagina, anus or mouth of the partner.  Carefully open the wrapper from the jagged edges and take out the condom.  Never rip it open or use your teeth as this might cause the condom to tear.

    Step 2

Place the condom with the tip pointing upwards on top of the penis.  Check that the condom is in the right direction so that it can be rolled downwards.  Squeeze the entire reservoir tip of the condom gently (to remove the air) and roll it down the shaft of the erect penis.

Note that you have put it on backwards, throw it away and use a new one as the pre-cum will have already come into contact with the condom and flipping it over may cause pregnancy.

For men who are uncircumcised, make sure you pull back the foreskin before putting on the condom.

    Step 3

Apply lubricant over the condom if necessary.  This helps to protect the condom from damages and also ensures smooth entry into the vagina.  Some lubricants also contain spermicides which can help to reduce any risk of pregnancy.

Remember never to apply oil-based lubricants as they can cause the condom to breakdown.  Always use water-based lubricants.

    Step 4

After ejaculation during sex, hold the condom at the base of the penis and withdraw it from the vagina.  This is to ensure that the condom is not left inside the vagina of the lady.  To remove the condom, hold the base and gently roll it off.  Tie it up, wrap it in tissue paper and dispose into a waste bin.

Extra tips for a more enjoyable experience

    • Ensure that the condoms are kept in a cool dry place.  Heat and sunlight can cause the latex to break so do not leave the condoms in a car or in a wallet.
    • Check the condom for its expiry before usage.  Throw away any condoms past their expiry date.
    • During sex, check occasionally for any tears on the condom or if it has slipped off the penis and dislodged in the vagina.
    • Applying lubricant into the tip of the condom before putting it on helps to avoid breakage and enhances the pleasure for men.
    • Replace condoms if switching from vaginal to anal sex or vice versa.  This reduces the risk of infection.
    • Practice wearing a condom if you have never done so before.  Condoms are easy to use with practice and experience.

  • My first experience giving head

    My first experience giving head

Everyone remembers their first time of anything.  The first kiss, first fuck, first job, first embarrassment etc.  It has been more than ten years since I gave my first blow job, but the whole experience is still crystal clear in my head.  Maybe that’s because it was the first sexual activity of any kind I had done with someone else.

I wasn’t sexually active until I started Uni.  Before that, I had gone on dates, nothing too serious, mostly involving kissing but never moving beyond first base.  At that time, the internet wasn’t filled with as much porn as it is today.  My only access to sex and porn was through VCDs which classmates and friends shared around. Most of it was hardcore American and European porn which got me wet and curious from my early teens.  I would masturbate almost every night, fantasizing of being licked and fucked, before drifting off to sleep happily.

In Uni, everything exploded to life.  Probably it was the freedom of staying in a dorm, or all the years of self-exploration, but my sexual life awoke from its slumber and has been active ever since.  HC was a friend of Liz whom I got to know for awhile before we went clubbing as a group at China Black.  After a few drinks and shots, we began flirting with each other, dancing close, rubbing our bodies together and the sexual tension was intense throughout.

When it was time to leave, we took a cab back to our dorms together.  During the journey back, we were french kissing and groping each other.  HC was really good with his hands and they found their way up my dress into my panty, one of them rubbing the area where my clit was and the other stroking my thighs gently.  I was so horny from the touches that my juices were flowing freely, soaking my panties and even leaking onto the seat.  I am sure the cabby was enjoying the live show we were putting on for him.  HC started to finger me, putting his middle finger inside my pussy and rubbing gently, licking my ear at the same time.  Not wanting to be heard moaning, I put my face against his shirt and forced myself to breathe heavily into it all the way back to the dorm.

We went back to my room, didn’t bother switching on the lights and started to strip each others clothes off.   As he lay on the bed, I started to use my hands to rub his balls and gave his dick small kisses all over.  I tried to recall what went on with all the porn I had watched and started to run my tongue up and down his dick.  HC was already moaning and I decided to ramp it up further by sucking hard on the tip of his dick while my right hand moved it up and down.  My saliva was already dripping all over and I could taste some of his pre-cum.  I slowly lowered my mouth down his dick, not knowing how far I could go until I started to gag before rising again.  Even though it was my first time, I knew I was doing something right as HC’s hands were already holding my head and pulling my mouth deeper onto his dick while thrusting his butt up.  I started getting into the rhythm of the deep thrusts into my mouth as I sucked eagerly, my hands massaging his balls gently simultaneously.

Without any warning, HC told me he was going to cum and shot his load into my mouth at the very same time.  I certainly wasn’t expecting that or the feeling of cum hitting the back of my throat and started to gag and cough.  Some of his cum that went down my throat tasted salty while the rest of it shot against my lips and chest when I had withdrew my mouth to cough.

He said it was the best blow he had ever had but I never did tell him it was my first time.  Secretly I was surprised I enjoyed the whole experience first time round.  Sometimes, the first time tends to suck (no pun intended) before there is improvement, but as HC repeatedly told me that night, I had given one helluva blowjob.

  • Ins and Outs of Vibrators

    Ins and Outs of Vibrators

2013. We’re surrounded by dozens of different vibrators in all shapes and sizes to choose from. For the uninformed, it’s a nightmare.  However, it’s no surprise that this seemingly simple invention used to cure women’s hysteria in the 1800s has managed to become the sex toy of choice for a third of women today.

Amidst the multiple variations, the two common things all vibrators contain…a battery and a motor. It’s also pretty standard to have multiple program options and intensities. Simply perfect for experimenting.

    CLASSIC

Often mistaken for “massagers” grandma uses to ease those aching backs, the classics are simple, discreet and can be easily purchased in most departmental stores. The most common of which is the Magic Wand made famous by all the AV movies you watched as a kid. Its sole purpose is for clitoral stimulation and because of it’s design the Magic Wand is significantly more powerful than most other vibrators on the market.

    DILDOS

Dildo shaped vibrators have dual purposes, they are meant to simulate the actual experience of sex. The phallus-shaped toy is often modeled after the penis with some even molded from actual porn stars with lengths of up to 16” and 7” around. The penis shape allows for vaginal penetration, which the vibration action helps to enhance the sexual pleasure. They can also be used anally although significantly more lubricant is often required

    G-SPOT

Since Ernst Gräfenberg discovered the G-Spot it’s been the “Holy Grail” of the female orgasm. G-Spot vibrators are dildo shaped vibrators with a specially designed curved shape to stimulate the G-Spot in women and prostate in men. For some women, it’s really the only way they get to cum.

    RABBITS

The world renowned Jack Rabbit was popularised by Sex and the City in the 90’s, invented by Ann Summers it became the company’s cash cow for years to come. The rabbit is designed to stimulate both the vagina and clitoris simultaneously. It feature two vibrators one dildo shaped to penetrate the vagina and the second, its namesake is a clitoral stimulator shaped like rabbit ears to target the sweet spot.

    BULLETS AND EGGS

Relatively small and unobtrusive, bullets and eggs are the perfect companion to take on the go. Due to its small size, it’s normally minimalist with few added programs and function exactly like the classics. Predominately used for clitoral play there are some larger ones which can also be inserted into most openings.

    ALARM CLOCKS

Needless to say this is the perfect way for any woman to wake up short of having her partner between her legs.  Alarm clock vibes are worn on panties during the night. They are exceptionally thin and shaped to the curves of the female body so you don’t notice it at all. They work great as they’ll wake you up feeling so good that snoozing would become a thing of the past.

    BUTTERFLIES

The butterfly is a pretty interesting style of vibrator. It’s obviously shaped like a butterfly and is worn like a pair of panties and targets the clitoris. As it’s strapped on, operation is completely hands-free and often it comes with a remote control for added fun.

    REMOTES

With the introduction of the Internet, long distance relationships got much shorter and sooner or later, someone would come along to bridge the gap between lovers.  Remote controlled sex toys from firms such as the Vibease and Remote Pleasure have burst onto the market. Partners across the globe can now using smartphone apps can be directing the orgasm distances away.

    COUPLES

Previously vibrating cock rings were the only thing couples could use together but the We-Vibe couples’ vibrator changed all that when it was launched. A flexible U-shaped toy worn inside the vagina during sex has not one but two vibrating motors, one for the G-Spot and another for the Clitoris. It’s unique shape and design allows the man to penetrate the woman while she adorns this magnificent piece human ingenuity. The things we think of to have better sex.

In our opinion, all vibrators are really just meant to help us get off. But with so many different styles to choose from, these days we’re really spoilt for choice. Imagine if we only had that one steam powered design.
