Hi Linda, it’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with us a little about yourself and where you’re from?

I’m an Australian born Vietnamese. At 25 years of age, I’ve lived most my life in Sydney where I’ve established my own business, I MAKE IT.

How did your interest in beauty and makeup come from?

I’ve studied art from a young age and it has always been my favourite subject in school. I’ve always found art very therapeutic and as the years went on, I expanded that interest into anything beauty, fashion and design related.

As a make up artist, I find that each individual is a unique canvas, and it is the job of the artist to bring out their full potential in an art form.

What prompted you to start your own business, I MAKE IT?

I couldn’t see my future as a retail make up artist. After gaining enough experience, I wanted to spread my wings and be my own boss. So I took a leap of faith and feel so blessed with all the support I’ve received. Without everyone, I couldn’t have came this far!

Can you describe a typical day of yours?

A typical working day will be around 12-16hrs. It’s not an easy day, but I must say it is a very rewarding day. I specialize in bridal/special occasions make up, so being a part of someones special day, just feels amazing.

Although it’s tiring, the hours, it doesn’t really feel like work. Just powering through a day of meeting lovely people, and making them feel that little bit more pretty.

Does everyone look better with makeup?

Everyone can look better with the right amount of make up, and the correct application. We have to fully understand our facial features and our skin type to optimize results, otherwise it can go horribly wrong.

In saying this, I also love my no make up days. It’s important to have a balance and not feel the need to hide behind your make up. Make up is only art, an art of expression.

Can you share some essential makeup items every lady should not leave home without?

Moisturiser, spf preferred (it’ll benefit you in the long run)

Lip balm and eyebrows. Be it pencil, powder or whatever you like, but if you’re not blessed with full brows. Filling in your brows will really help shape your face.

I also like concealer to cover blemishes and to make me appear more ‘awake’, and some blush and highlight for that healthy glow.

What makeup tips can you share to ladies who are very busy and do not have the time to spend too long on it?

People care about people who care about themselves.

Just take 10 minutes out of your day, whether it is waking up earlier or the need to multi task. Apply some moisturizer and lip balm, then conceal any dark circles or pigmentation you have (does wonders), quick mineral powder, blush, brows and mascara and you’ll feel so much more alive =)

Do you have a skin care routine which you follow?

I actually have really sensitive skin, so I try not to go too crazy with experimenting new things and stick to the basics. I find that’s what works for me.

I’ve been using Olay sensitive skin moisturizer since I was a teenager and still love it.

Being a make up artist, and wearing make up all day on most days, it’s important to cleanse my skin.

I remove my make up with Bioderma cleansing water, use my Clarisonic with a foaming cleanser and exfoliate with St Ives almond or apricot scrub 2-3 times a week.

I try to use toner and eye cream, but still on the hunt for one that I love.

Thank you for taking your time to answer our questions on SimplySxy, Linda. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

To me, sexy means confidence. Sexy isn’t just about appearance, but the way you hold yourself and how you feel about yourself.

Being beautiful or being sexy isn’t a look, it’s a feeling. So long as you’re happy, you’ll appear to be the sexiest person.

I definitely feel inner beauty is much more important than outer beauty. We just have to keep in mind, that it’s the outer beauty that people usually notice first. So in this world in which we live in, we should respect ourselves and take pride, so in return people will respect us.
