Yoga Teacher & Model Jane Wong

I usually wear European-American style and sometimes a little Chinese classic style. I like to explore different brands as different brands have their own different designs and styles. I do not have a specific brand that I love though.

How often do you workout and what is your regime like?

I workout almost every day for at least one hour. Sometimes I do need an off day too, hehe..

I am a yoga teacher, I maintain my yoga practice at least four times a week. Sometimes I will go jogging outdoors and breathe fresh air, looking at the green scenery. It will be two to three days of outdoor jogging a week. I am a vegetarian and I usually eat less for my dinner as our body does not need to burn any energy during night time when we are getting ready to sleep. That’s how I keep myself healthy and stay active.

Has a lot changed in your life since you joined and won beauty pageants such as Miss Southeast Asia Malaysia?

I would say yes and no.

The YES would be the inner growth in me when I represent my home country – Malaysia. How proud would I be as I am bringing my home country’s culture to the international stage and showing how wonderful Malaysia’s culture is. I never even realized how beautiful my country is.

The NO would be because I am a low profile person. I did have more sponsors and collaborations however, I wouldn’t feel that I am somebody instead. I am still who I am 🙂

If you could meet anyone past or present, who will it be?

If I could meet anyone past or present, I would say all my yoga teachers who conducted the Yoga Teacher Training courses in India. I had my certificate during the pandemic when the whole world had locked down. They are the teachers who live in India and conduct all the courses online. How I wish I could be there and feel the vibes and energy in the town of Yoga, Rishiksh, India.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but have yet to find the time for it?

Well, I would say there are plenty of things I wanted to do. However, I have managed to make it somehow. During the lockdown period, I have learnt and done so many things that I have always wanted to do but have yet to find time. That was the best period of time for me to try and experience it. Such as having my Yoga Teacher Training courses, meditation courses, baking, cooking, gardening and so on. I learned to cook during the lockdown period and it really changed me, haha. I enjoyed all these and I gained my experiences too.

Have you been in an embarrassing situation before that is funny now when looking back?

I had one but I wouldn’t say that was embarrassing, hahaha. Few years back, I was travelling with my two besties at P.Redang. We went on a sea turtle trip. Both of them were screaming and shouting when the tea turtle swam closer to them, everyone was looking at the three of us, even the other group of people were staring at us too. I felt kind of embarrassed when everyone looked at us. We were laughing when we came back from the trip. I told them that I felt so “paiseh” to be in the same group with them. Whenever we talk about this, we will laugh.

    Miss South East Asian

What is your idea of an ideal first date?

For me, my ideal first date would be a nice setup and design of a restaurant/cafe which has a live band. The best will be a jazz live band, with red wine and serving with delicious desserts. A cafe will be a cozy environment, with a hot cup of cappuccino and dessert. I believe if a man is interested in you, he would give efforts to plan and dress up himself. The first impression is always the most important part to lead to the next date and develop the relationship.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Jane. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

For me, “Sexy” means woman empowerment. A woman with self-confidence, and strong inside out. Always believe in herself, and eventually, her “sexiness” will show unconsciously and attractively.

  • Fashion Influencer Celeste Tan

    Fashion Influencer Celeste Tan

Hello, thank you for the feature! I am Celeste, a 22-year-old who is currently an Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors in Business (Marketing) in Singapore. I am currently juggling between my last semester in University and internship at the same time.

I have a passion for fashion, hence the reason why I decided to join the Marketing Sector after dropping out of Accountancy after my first semester as I realized, why not combine what I like into my studies instead of something I’ll get bored of.  I like to read, paint, listen to music and definitely shop online/offline.

What inspires your fashion style and where do you love to shop from?

I started becoming conscious of what I wore when I was 17 and tried to find my personal style as I grew older. My style has evolved over the years after following fashion influencers such as Xenia Dots, Willabelle Ong and Waikei Tong. I also get inspiration from Pinterest.

I mostly shop at online brands such as The Style Soiree, Princess Polly, Lovet and Supergurl as it caters to the vibe that I am going for. Sometimes, I pop by Love Bonito, Zara and The Editors Market to browse through their collections.  As someone who currently interns at a popular footwear brand, most of the pieces that I own definitely compliments with the shoes.

Do you have any favorite quotes or mottos you use regularly?

One of my favorite quotes comes from a poem written by Rupi Kaur, “and here you are living despite it all.” I even got it tattooed on me haha!  As someone who was diagnosed with MDD at the age of 17, it is a reminder to me that no matter how tough things get and how tired I am from living, I pushed through it with the help of my best friends and doctors. Honestly, without them I would have really consider the route.

Another quote that I live by is from a poem by

    “ And then I realized

I was far more deserving of my love

Than the one who broke me.”

I realized that the person I once loved didn’t deserve the love and care I provided. I needed it for myself and honestly, being single allowed me to heal myself and love myself even if it’s just taking a nap or buying clothes. It’s about what makes you happy on the inside.

Which cuisine or type of food do you like most?

Definitely Italian Food! You can never go wrong with PASTAAAAA, especially bacon aglio olio!

If you could time travel, what will you like to witness or change?

Honestly, I would like to change the year my maternal grandma passed away. I was 11 when she passed on and she didn’t get to watch my achievements as I grew older. I miss her very deeply and honestly, I should have spent more time with her. I think she was the only one who gets me in the family and looked out for me despite her age and health declining.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to do or learn but yet to find the time for it?

I definitely want to learn how to do pottery as I am interested in making my own decorative piece to be placed in my room! However, with my busy schedule I haven’t gotten the chance to do so. So I’ll probably learn it after my finals and work load is lesser for sure.

On a scale of 1-10, how much of a superstitious person are you?

I would say 8 out of 10 especially during the Hungry Ghost Festival. I ain’t playing with the ghosts for sure, because I’m a scaredy cat.

What turns you off on a date?

OMG, I’ve way too many but I will share my top 3. One of them would definitely be being rude whether if it’s with the waitress or bartender. Generally rude to everyone. I would definitely not want a partner who is rude to me.

Another would be someone who underdresses, if you turned up with slippers on our first date when we planned to do something romantic, I would definitely walk off ASAP.

Lastly, a guy who doesn’t talk. Might as well let the crickets talk for him. Haha.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Celeste. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

To me “sexy” is feeling comfortable in your skin regardless of your body shape, having acne or even the colour of your skin. When I was younger, I was never confident about how I look or hated how my skin was not as flawless at the pretty girls but as I grew older, I started getting a little bit more comfortable in wearing clothes I liked despite having bacne. It’s not that I chose to have bacne but because of the medications I’ve taken made it that way haha! Now that we are in 2021, women are becoming comfortable and unapologetic on how they look despite their body shape. That’s what I call Sexy!

  • Medical Technologist Zabb Ragunjan

    Medical Technologist Zabb Ragunjan

When it comes to my fashion style, I’m more of a “cozy“ type of person. Since I am not into that sophisticated look and all. I just want it plain and simple. “Less is more“, they said, so yeah.

What is your beauty regime like and do you use any beauty products?

Yes, because honestly…..as we grow older, we really need to invest on that. You can skip the makeup products, but don’t skip to invest in your skin. That’s really important. I guess that’s my love language to my self.

What hobbies or interests do you have?

I have dogs to take care of so…yeah. I guess playing with them is a hobby now since we are all locked down. :))

Which 3 activities do you recommend to everyone who visits your city?

    • You should try our “Abra Miki”
    • Visit different falls
    • More adventures on upland places

If you could time travel, where will you love to go and witness?

If I could time travel, I would really love to witness my sisters pregnancies. I’ve missed a lot of family events since this pandemic started. Since I am far away from my permanent hometown.

Would you rather invent a new gadget or discover a new species?

I would rather invent a new one. You can never go wrong with CREATING YOUR OWN. 🙂

What turns you off on a date?

Don’t judge but….guys who don’t know how to slow things. Guys who are always in a rush is a big turn off.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Zabb. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

For me, being sexy is not all about being PHYSICALLY FIT. It’s all about being independent. It’s all about being brave and strong even if you know that you’re all doing it on your own. Being sexy is being an independent woman who can stand tall with or without a man 🙂

  • San Francisco Pole Dancer Mimi Midnight

San Francisco Pole Dancer Mimi Midnight

I’m from all over! I was born in NYC and then moved to Shanghai, Los Angeles, Hawaii, and now San Francisco.

How long have you been pole dancing and what inspired you to take it up?

I’ve been pole dancing for seven years…People used to always ask if I was a dancer when I did yoga and while growing up. Eventually I figured I should be a dancer so I googled “adult dance classes” and pole dancing was the first thing that came up.

Is it difficult to take up pole dancing?

It is VERY difficult. I wasn’t immediately hooked when I first started even though it feels like I was in retrospect. It actually took watching videos on YouTube that got me really inspired to keep trying. I used to watch my idols and wish that one day I could be half as good as them. Today, I’m so grateful to be able to set the bar for myself instead of using someone else. My one advice is to stick with it consistently for at least 12 weeks before giving up.

Which is the best compliment you have received?

Someone once commented that they admired me for my bravery and courage. That was the best compliment. I don’t get called brave often and when I do, it feels really special.

Is there something in life you can’t get enough of?

I can’t get enough of food 🙁 Food has always been utilitarian for me, but somewhere in the last year, I became a foodie.

Which 3 things do you enjoy doing most in the city you live in?

My friends, pole community, and the views in San Francisco.

If you could change or improve one thing about the world, what will it be?

The way we handle the environment. We are in dire need of a better system for sustainability. It all starts with acknowledgement and awareness.

What is a funny attempt a guy has tried to know you?

Wow, I could probably write a book about these. Men are actually quite creative when they want to be, unfortunately, they don’t know how to properly harness their skills.

  • Content Creator & Singer Amanda Danny

Content Creator & Singer Amanda Danny

Hi guys, am so happy to be a part of this beautiful interview section! My name is Amanda Danny, am from Nigeria and a content creator, a singer and I do other stuffs. I am also a graduate with a bachelor degree in mass communication.

How did your interest in modeling start and what do you love about modeling?

Well my passion for taking pictures started during quarantine, it was like my new found hobby then at that time as well. I started learning a lot about photography and social media marketing and since then, I have been loving it and am proud to call myself a creative/model.

Is being on camera a lot harder than it looks?

No it’s not for me. I find it fun and it’s allows me to show all my personality LOL. I am a whole different person when I am on a camera.

What is your workout or exercise regime like?

I started working out since 2018, then I didn’t have a routine. I’d just go to the gym and workout without a routine but during quarantine, I saw Chloe Ting on YouTube and she became my online coach and now Mr London as well.

If you could learn anything in this world, what will it be?

I would love to learn more about the profession I want to take which is music.

Have you been in an embarrassing situation before that is funny now when looking back?

Yes a lot ahahah. I remembered when I was almost arrested for creating content and guess what, they did that because they wanted to get my friends’ phone number. OMG I can’t stop laughing now, but it’s was also a bad memory for me .

Would you rather be able to taste colors or see smells?

Hmmm that’s hard, I do rather want to see smells.

What turns you off on a date?

I would say a self centered person.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Amanda. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Well, hmmm being sexy depends on you and how you see yourself and also it’s confidence as well.

  • Influencer & Singer Angeline Cash

    Influencer & Singer Angeline Cash

My name is Angeline Cash, aged 20, from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I am a Law student studying in Brickfields Asia college, currently in my final year, perusing my Degrees in L.L.B with University of London. At the same time, I am also a social media influencer (KOL), a part-time emcee and a live band singer.

What inspired you to be a singer and emcee?

Music speaks more than a thousand words”. I always find this quote meaningful, as nothing is more powerful than music to express my inner feelings, not even words.

My given name is actually “Whitney Ong”. I find that having a nickname “Angeline Cash” is kind of cute and easy to be remembered by my friends and others with the name “Cash”. I have a strong family gene, me, my mom and dad all love music and we are compassionate in the entertainment line. My mom and dad both are artists, drama actor and model, and that’s why they named me “Whitney” following “Whitney Houston”. I started singing at a very young age of 3. My mother (also a famous Astro CGM and recording artist) used to mentor me, teach me how to sing. I have joined many competitions and performances to gain experience and achievement. Currently, singing at several places such as like cafes (powerplant, caffeiness and many more).

As for emcee, well thanks to my wonder “mama” again! (Also, a professional emcee, with more than 20years experience). She’s the one who taught me how to become a professional emcee. And now, I do emcee hosting’s, broadcasting, and event host. Also working for Cheras leisure mall for almost 4-5 years.

Which fashion accessories are a must have in your collection?

I don’t really wear a lot of fashion accessories, because I always like my outfit to be simple and nice! But if it’s a must, I guess maybe a necklace?

Is there a beauty or exercise regime you follow regularly?

Yes, there is. Well not too complex, I usually have my own set of skin routine, cleanse, toner, mask, serum etc. I have regular exercise and workouts but not going to gym.

If you could change one thing about the world, what will it be?

Of course, at this time, the only thing I would want to change is the healthcare of the world. With the current pandemic, people are suffering from the virus or facing the fear of getting the virus. I hope that I have the ability to turn back the clock, everything would be back to normal, everyone could enjoy ‘freedom, peace and health’. So that 2021 would be a better and advanced year as predicted.

Have you been in an embarrassing situation before that is funny now when looking back?

Yes. There was one that I’ve came across, pretty embarrassing for me. Well, I guess not everyone would encounter. That is because due to having a pair of very long legs, standing at the height of 173cm. The incident happened on a fine day, when I went out shopping with my friends, there was one little girl walking towards me and she suddenly slammed over my legs. And I was shocked while she was screaming and crying to her mom saying that she ran herself over ‘a pole’: “Mummy I knocked onto a pole, my head hurts!”. And the next moment when she looks upon me, she realized that I’m not actually ‘a pole’ a but just a tall girl.

What is a funny attempt a guy has tried to know you?

Well one guy actually called me through the phone, saying that he is a friend of my mom, whose got my number. But the funniest part was this pickup line is too old school and plus, how could a 20-year-old young boy even know my mom. He ended up creating and telling me stories and memories that how he knew my mom and how he got to know me from my mom. A funny attempt indeed, but it worked, and we are friends now.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Angeline. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

The term “sexy” for me, is not just a physical posture or a pose or a form of dressing and outlook of oneself. It’s something within a person, or I would rather say a person to have a personality to be “sexy” or “self-love” perhaps? A lot of people define “sexy” with just outlooks of how a person portrait him/herself.

However, in my perception, it’s not about how revealing your outfits are, it’s about the personality within you. Being “sexy” is not a crime or rather a shame, it is the way of how you express yourself. At the end of the day, what I think is, do and wear whatever which makes you feel the best, and never to care about how others think about you, be yourself, do what makes you happy and live a life.

    Florist Jassica Cheah

I’m a Singaporean, 23 this year and I’m having two jobs at the moment. I have a business of my own and at the same time I’m an account manager.

What inspired you to be a florist and how long have you been one?

I would say it’s more of a passion.. for every bouquet that was created, it has a little story behind, and I’ve been a florist for 5-6 years. I was in the floristry industry back then…and arranging flowers makes me feel relaxed and I love to give joy to others so…whenever I see the smiles on my customer faces, it just gives me a sense of accomplishment and a reason to create more beautiful things.

Do you have any other hobbies or interests?

Work is tiring so…I enjoy most of my “me” time and self-pampering at night.

Which 3 things do you enjoy doing most in the city you live in?

Going to the nearby cafes, city and town areas at night for the views of course!

What type of flowers do you love most?

I don’t have a specific one but if I have to choose, it would be hydrangeas.

If you can have a super power, what will it be?

Teleportation! Many times I need to run errands and time means a lot to me…

What kind of music are you into and do you have any favorite artists?

I’m versatile…hiphop, chill vibes, acoustic…soooo do not have one in particular.

What turns you off on a date?

One that dosen’t have the effort to groom themselves, which I feel it’s a form of respect.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Jassica. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Sexy comes from within , charisma , personality , confidence definitely not the physical appearance..

  • Entrepreneur Dana Safia

    Entrepreneur Dana Safia

My name is Dana Safia and I am a Singaporean with Javanese roots. Not a lot of people know that I balance my corporate life of being a full time Digital Recruiter whilst owning my own brand, Autentik Palate (House of JAMU by Dana Safia).

It may sound like a handful but the beauty of working on both these projects allows me to grow and is in line with my interests. My full time job challenges me while my own business is born from my love for health and fitness. This keen interest in health and beauty was born from a dark point in my life.

Needless to say, the bounce back has stemmed from the sheer hard work and dedication of being committed to my goals. Something that I have built as a discipline through my exercise regime of training six days a week. This may sound torturous to most, but it is therapy to me.

What inspired you to be an entrepreneur?

It has always been my dream to build a business from the ground up. To truly understand the works and the feeling of wanting to give back to the community in a way that I feel is most suitable and sustainable.

I knew I had it in me because I grew up with women entrepreneurs. My grandma who was a masseur (pre and post-natal) and a traditional medicine practitioner, and my mom who had her own beauty salon and canteen.

Watching both women work their magic whilst growing up has taught me so many things. Although they didn’t necessarily pass down words of wisdom or trait secrets, I picked up most of the information I needed from my learning curves. I watched and observed what they did, both right and wrong to maneuver through my own business.

Can you tell us more about your brand Jamu?

JAMU by Dana Safia is under the company, Autentik Palate. We are advocates of traditional herbal remedies with contemporary practices. We pride ourselves on being a sustainable company that supports the fight against climate change.

I launched JAMU by Dana Safia to educate people on the power of Indonesian herbal remedies. Recipes from my grandmother have been passed down from generations, to whomever is ready to continue from the benefits. The recipes that are available in the market are accessible for both men and women.

Each jamu flavour and type carries their own benefits specific to each biological system and targeted to carry out certain effects.

I have started experimenting on how to improve the recipe to suit the modern world and needs. It’s an ever-changing time and we are making sure we accommodate as many people as possible. The whole idea of recreating JAMU is to market to the mass and educate them.

What 3 fun things do you love to do in the city you live in?

FOOD: Although it might come as a surprise to some people, I do enjoy a good feast.  Whenever possible, I’ll book a restaurant that I have not tried and bask in the various culinary experiences. What more, I live in a city where the food is diverse and the luxury of trying a new cuisine is possible almost any time.

BEACH: Sentosa is one of my favourite spots to chill over the weekend. You can spot me at my favourite beach club either with my friends or on my own reading a book. It is a way for me to detach myself from work and the bustling city. I need time to recover and recuperate from a long week of work and stress. Decompressing is important to anyone.

WALK WALK WALK: I am blessed to be living along the stretch of the Green Corridor. I enjoy long walks exploring the city in a different way.

Which beauty products are a must have in your collection that you regularly use?

ICING: I must ice my face twice a day, once during the day and another at night. Icing your face helps with blood circulation, eliminates puffiness (especially around the eyes) and boosts my skin to a healthier glow.

HOURGLASS MASCARA: I can go out without powder or foundation, but mascara is a must for me! I would feel bare if I don’t put on at least mascara for my eyes.

RETINOL SERUM: I aim to age gracefully but also to fight the tides of time with my biological clock. Retinoids reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen and it is one of my favourite superpower products.

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

Teleportation. Either to another place or to the past/future.

Being able to teleport would allow me to see the world and SAVE SO MUCH TIME FROM TRAVELLING. Seeing the past and laughing about how naïve I was and anticipating the future keeps me looking forward!

On a scale of 1-10, how much of an adventurer are you?

I would say about 8. I still have some fears that can hold me back from doing things.

What is a lame or funny attempt a guy has tried to know you?

Just by calling me pet names. That would turn me off.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Dana. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

“Never be apologetic with the way you look or feel”. That’s sexy!

Ever since I was a kid, people tend to call me kikay for being so girly. They always misconceive my looks up until now; they thought I was nitpicky. Maybe it is because of my fashion style, the so-called chic fashion style.  Chic means a classy look produced from the combinations of a few items done with minimal effort with a touch of very girly style.

I believe that I was born to be like this, to wear chic fashion style outfits, this is who I am, and if people who love this kind of style are pretentious, then I am guilty. I don’t have a specific inspiration in fashion styles, but I admire Zendaya and Heart Evangelista’s style a lot.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

I do love singing and playing musical instruments. I started singing at the age of one. I also love writing, speaking in front, acting, modeling; to be specific, I love performing. I am a watching debate and extemporaneous speech enthusiasm; maybe because I want to be a lawyer someday, hopefully, I can be one.

All those things were the things that I’m doing every day because it is all my passion, and I am very thankful to the Lord God for giving me talents that suited my hobbies and interests.

Which 3 things do you love about in the city you live in?

The three things that I love in the city that I live in are, first people tend to be generous with one another. Residences were helping each other amid the pandemic. Second, our mayor is trying his best to expand the state of our economy and, now we are the 1st class municipality in the province of Rizal. Lastly, the officials were preserving the culture and history of the place.

If you can be a fictional character for real, who will you be?

If I can be a fictional character for real, I will be Carmela Isabela. Carmela Isabela is the main character from my favorite Wattpad book. I always wanted to live in the past generations wherein everything was simple. People were careful with their decisions, and being impulsive was not a choice. Love is pure and sincere, God is the center of all things, and you need to put a lot of effort if you want to communicate with someone.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to learn but have yet to find the time for it?

Whenever I want to learn something, I always find time to study or to learn it. I believe that when you want something, you got to find ways to grab it. Remember, life is short. So, do it now, learn it now, or lost a chance forever.

What incredible life hack do you know that is invaluable to you?

I guess the incredible life hack that I know is putting honey, calamansi, and aloe vera in your face overnight and, you will see that it will be glowy and whitens your face in the morning. I don’t know if it truly works but, I guess it does cause I’m doing it sometimes.

What is an ideal first date to you?

Maybe the ideal first date for me is an outdoor cafeteria date night. I do love cafeterias because I’m a fan of sweet food like cakes, cookies, etc. I also love being outside at night because it is cold, relaxing, and magical, especially when it has lights above. Lastly, I like it because you can bond and talk for hours, you can both get to know each other more in that way.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Jessyca. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

For me, being sexy is having confidence. By accepting and loving yourself from who you are and by embracing your imperfections and being uniquely you, that is sexy. It doesn’t confine with society’s standards, by being flawless, petite, mestiza, tall, or having a so-called coca-cola body. It is all about your mindset, your acceptance, which derives confidence. Let us all be our definition of sexy so, chin up, slay, and embrace yourself.
