    Italian Cosplayer Onirika

Hi Onirika, thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hi everyone! I’m Onirika, an Italian cosplayer, I am 25 years old and I was born in April and I’m 150cm tall (sob sob T.T) I am a cat lover and any object that is pink and cute.  Yes, I’m a little princess (ihih) who lives in my fantasy world but in real life I’m a dressmaker, I started to sew when I was 14 years old and I studied for this. I start to cosplay since 2009 with Kairi from Kingdom Hearts 2, but I knew this world before, I have always been passionate about video games (in particular), anime and manga. The games that I prefer and where I get almost all costumes are from Final Fantasy sagas. I like all kinds of games but my favorites are RPG and fantasy. I’m curious about oriental culture and their music, they have a way of doing completely different from the Italians.

What do you enjoy most about cosplay?

What I like most of all surely is to be able to become a favorite character for one day. I generally choose characters that have traits of my personality or characters who are tied as a child (like Yuna from Final Fantasy). I already made 3 versions of this character, and I have 2 others at work. Making cosplays have helped me a lot for my self-esteem, have never been a very nice girl, do not wear makeup and I did not mind what I was wearing (although I did for fashion). Thanks to cosplay, I learned to wear makeup and take care of my appearance. I have worked for years, and now I am quite satisfied (certainly my classmates would not recognize me for what I’ve changed XD).

How long does it take you to create a costume from scratch?

Obviously it depends on the type of costume, once I made the pattern I always reuse that, and I modify it from time to time depending on the customs that I have to do. So generally if it is just tailoring, it takes me from 2 days until a maximum of 1/2 months (working on it every day) this is more or less the estimate of when I commissioned others. When it comes to my cosplays I always put a lot of time (a bit of boredom, lack of materials or time to devote to me). The situation is different when it comes to armor or armor pieces, because I have to wait for it to dry well, the paint and color.

Are there any characters which you will love to cosplay in the near future?

To my good fortune I’ve already done all the characters I love, and since I like it so much I always do more versions of the same character (as Yuna, Serah or Asuna).

Which fictional character do you wish was real?

Certainly these would be from the Final Fantasy universe and would not be just one but my first love was Tidus from Final Fantasy X so maybe I would choose him … even if … even Noctis is not bad! <3 I CAN NOT CHOOSE!

If you could have a superpower, what will it be?

This is easy, the power of the word, that everything I say comes true, like magic! So I could have mountains of cosplay, manga, figures already ready at once, and of course I could control people and their actions (I’m evil I know!! XD)

What item at home can you use as a weapon if there is a zombie apocalypse?

Oh God I do not think that I’d survive long in a zombie apocalypse (despite being an fan of zombie movies) but probably choose a firearm such as a pistol, small and handy, lethal.

Have you ever had a bad cosplay experience?

No thankfully, received only criticisms from those people who do not know this kind of environment, but do not bother me, I go to comic-con for fun and no one can ruin the day.

It is a pleasure to feature you, Onirika. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I think that everyone has his idea of being sexy, so I cannot say for sure, but what I like may not please others. Actually I do not know what to say, you’ve asked the wrong person, I’m an eternal loli XD

    Gray Wolf Cosplay

Hi Gray Wolf it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hello! My name is Brittney, also known as Gray Wolf Cosplay. I’m 22 years old, born and raised in Jackson Michigan. I enjoy playing video games, particularly RPG. I also enjoy nature and animals!

How did you get started into cosplay?

My friend actually gave me the push! I’ve loved the thought of it for a long time. Especially growing up a Disney I wanted to dress like Ariel. Between him and the show ‘Heroes of Cosplay’ I decided to dive right in! I’m so glad I did!

Which common misconceptions about cosplay still exists today?

Well a lot of my coworkers tell me I am wasting my time and money on it.

What is the best compliment you have received?

I was told once that I resemble Anne Hathaway when I was dressed as Catwoman from Dark Knight Rises.

What other hobbies do you have?

I dress up as Princesses and Superheroes with a couple of other local cosplay friends and we go to local hospitals and do charity events and birthday parties. Seeing the kids smiles makes it all worth it!

If you could change one thing about the world, what will it be?

That people would stop being so ugly and hurtful to each other. Instead, they’d help each other more.

What song would you say best describes you?

I can’t think of one off the top of my head but I have been listening to ‘How Far I’ll Go’ from Moana. It speaks to me because she is wanting to make her parents proud but her heart is telling her to do something else.

What do you find attractive in the opposite sex?

Compassion, it’s easy to hate. If they have compassion then they are stronger than they appear.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Gray Wolf. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

To me sexy is the way you carry yourself and how you treat others. If you carry yourself with confidence but also humility. If you are kind to others and do not treat them as though they are beneath you then to me you are sexy.

  • London Cosplay Model Summer Knight

    London Cosplay Model Summer Knight

Hi Summer it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Yey! Well I’m a cosplay model from the UK, London specifically. Long time nerd! I like to spread body positivity and love into my community and I’m always up for having fun. I mainly focus on cosplay boudoir and my very sexy versions of some of my favorite characters form film, games, anime and TV. I love to cosplay and craft I’ve been cosplaying since late 2015 and loved it every step of the way!

What is the best compliment you have received?

Well as someone who gets the same old compliments like “hot” “sexy” “best waifu” etc, I’d have to say my best compliment was done in person by a sweet lady at a con, she told me I was an inspiration I was so brave and I gave her the confidence to cosplay a character even when she felt she was too big for it. It warmed my heart to know that I can give someone the confidence to cosplay and feel good in their own skin no matter the size <3 and being told that is probably the best compliment of all.

What do you find most challenging about cosplaying?

It’s not the crafting, or the hot glue burns….it’s not the long photo shoots or the conventions being too crowded … it’s the hate you get after all that after you spend hours, days, months on a cosplay after putting your heart and time into that cosplay because you love that character then someone comes by and shits all over it …. For me and I know many others, that’s the most challenging thing about cosplay… and frankly it’s something that shouldn’t happen.

Which characters have you enjoyed cosplaying most so far?

Mario! By far is my favorite cosplay so far, it was so freeing and fun to be in. I was able to run around and dance without the restrictions of armor or a risky nip slip if you move a certain way it was amazing and what made it 10000% cooler was I got to do it with my best friend, she was my Luigi!

How will you describe a typical day for yourself?

To be honest not a lot , I reply to fans, organize, eat a lot of food, procrastinate and cry… a lot. I do a lot of art in my daily life. I make learning crafts for kids who have learning disabilities and I make a lot of cosplays and plan shoots, keep up to date with my Patreon and I really like talking to fans and interacting with them on my Instagram and Patreon.

    Do you have any phobias?

To be honest no… or none that I know of anyway.

Is there anything about people you just don’t understand or comprehend?

Why do people hate others and feel the need to voice their opinions and make that person feel bad about something they are doing or something they are enjoying if it isn’t hurting anybody, there’s no reason to be a dick to them about it. It’s very easy to scroll past something you don’t like…so why not do it? I don’t understand peoples’ obsession with making others feel bad, their life must be so sad and boring that that have to obsess about others instead of worrying about their own life.

What is the lamest pickup line or attempt a guy has tried to know you?

Lamest? Hmmm to be fair most pickup lines are lame, they don’t work on me… or anyone I’ve met. But I’ve gotten a few funny ones that just make me laugh. I think some of the sexy Mario ones make me laugh the most like this one.

Bowser is red, sonic is blue, DAMM Mario come level up on my shroom

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Summer. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Confidence, because it doesn’t matter what size, shape, race or gender you are, if you’re confident and you know that you’re beautiful….well, that’s all the sexy I need <3

    Cosplayer & Model MCubed Marla

Hi MCubed Marla it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hi Everyone! I am a DFW based, but Houston born and raised, cosplayer and model. I have been involved with cosplay and modeling for the better part of the last 4 years. I graduated from Texas Christian University with 3 majors – a Bachelor’s of Science in Musical Theater, Communications (PR), and History (focusing on the Civil War and the Tudor time period). It is there that I learned how to be comfortable in front of the camera; and it is also where I honed my costume creating skills by working in the TCU professional costume department. My love of nerd culture started at a young age when my father introduced me to Star Wars. From there, I was irreversibly hooked. From Spiderman, to Harry Potter, through Lord of the Rings, and back to my first love Star Wars, I have a deep connection to all things nerd.

What do you love most about cosplaying?

Getting to be able to express myself and make come to life some of my favorite characters. I also love getting to continue using my theater skills, and getting to make people (especially children) happy! When it comes to cosplay – one of my biggest goals is to inspire others to have great confidence! I want everyone to be confident in themselves, their bodies and their skills. But, I especially hope to inspire little girls to realize that they can achieve anything! That is the reason I always tend to cosplay very strong, independent female characters – they call to me. I believe I have grown into one of those strong women, and I want little girls to want to grow up to be just as strong! That is why I love cosplay!

How will you describe a typical day for yourself?

My typical day changes all the time but, I’m a huge nerd, I spend most of my time watching Netflix and making costumes. For my “real job” I work in marketing. I have a hedgehog named R2-D2. And my friends and family are the most important things to me!

Is there an experience everyone should try at least once in their life?

Bungee jumping and scuba diving. Both of those experiences are literally out of this world!

Which is the most challenging character you have cosplayed before?

I love all of my cosplays but I am most well-known right now for my Rey. I made this costume completely from scratch, dyed my hair to match the character, and was the 3rd person in the world to have a screen accurate costume. I love cosplaying as Rey, not only because I look very similar to Daisy, but because she is such a strong and inspirational female role model.

What motto do you live by?

Life Goes On – “In three words I can sum up everything I’ve learned about life: it goes on” ~ Robert Frost

If you could describe yourself as a flavor, what will it be?

Hmmm…Earl Grey Sirracha – look it up, it’s a real thing I promise! Because I can be professional, calm and focused, but I can also be fun, loud, hyper, and fiery. Also – I sound weird, but I’m pretty cool once you try me haha.

What do you find attractive in the opposite sex?

I like men who can deal with my independent nature and yet still want to make me happy and care for me. I also love confidence and a good sense of humor!

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions MCubed. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Thank you so much for taking the time to interview me. I am always happy to share my insights and crazy rantings with people! I love my fans and I love talking nerdy and taking pictures with you! So if you see me at a con, don’t hesitate to come up and say hi!

    Cosplayer & Model Maka

Hi Maka it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Heya, thank you for the feature! I am a cosplayer and model based in KY. I guest at cons under Abyss Walker Entertainment and freelance as a model whenever I can.

    Photo: Duke Imagery

How did you get started into cosplay?

When I was 12, I was REALLY into the Teen Titans show and really wanted to be Raven for Halloween. Well, I didn’t like any of the costumes in the stores and decided to make my own. Upon doing research on my good ol’ desktop, I fell upon cosplay and never looked back!

    Photo: T Rix

Which common misconceptions about cosplay still exists today?

I feel like the one that I experience the most is people judging it as something adults shouldn’t do or should grow out of. I plan to cosplay Fortune Teller Baba when I’m old enough for it!!!

    Photo: Geez Louise Photography

What is the best compliment you have received?

The best one was from a fellow cosplayer that I look up to – SuperKayce. She saw my Kellacun armor and asked what I had used to seal it because it looked so smooth! That’s a lady that I know knows her stuff, so I felt awesome to have something that I consider a small detail that the average con-goer wouldn’t notice… noticed! I spent MANY hours sanding that thing, haha!

    Photo: The Progressive Image

What do you enjoy most about cosplay?

I enjoy wearing the costume and getting to embody the character. Second only to interacting with and discovering new people and friends that are as obsessed with the same things I am through this fun passion of mine!

    Photo: MW Images

If you could change one thing about the world, what will it be?

Just to give people an ounce more of understanding. Taking a step back and putting yourself in someone else’s shoes makes such a difference.

What song would you say best describes you?

    Hmm… Maybe Fragezeichen from Nena.

    Photo: Master Pixel Imaging

What do you find attractive in the opposite sex?

I wouldn’t limit myself to just the opposite sex, but I think raw determination is the sexiest thing ever. Nothing like watching someone decide to accomplish something and totally conquer it!

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Maka. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Sexy, to me, is odd. It plays into the question above – it’s super sexy to me to someone who might be insecure, but still overcoming that to do what they truly want in life. It’s fluid for me – rather than physical. Hard work! That’s what I love to see! 🙂 And thank you for the questions!

  • Cosplayer & Gamer-Girl Amanda Levine

    Cosplayer & Gamer-Girl Amanda Levine

Hi Amanda it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Thank you so much! I am a cosplayer, gamer-girl, Disney lover, comic reader, film/tv buff and over-all nerd from the Los Angeles area! I have been cosplaying now for over three years, but I wish I had been doing it my whole life!

Photo by Pat Loika and Post Production by Ghani Madueno

When did your interest in cosplay begin?

It began back a bit over 3 years ago when I attended my first San Diego Comic Con. I saw all of these amazing cosplayers wearing these epic costumes. I was always a nerd but I never knew how to express myself and when I saw these people cosplaying as their favorite characters, I knew I had to get in on that.

Which characters that you have cosplayed before are you most proud of?

I love all of my Harley Quinns. Especially my Arkham City and Injustice: Gods Among Us Harleys. She is always my favorite to dress up as, she is so bubbly, crazy and sexy all at the same time. I really loved my Thor cosplay as well because I made the armor all from scratch.

What is the most common misconception you hear about cosplayers?

I think the most common misconception is that we just dress up like it is Halloween all the time. It is much more than that. These costumes take weeks if not months to complete and these characters really mean something to us, so to portray our love for our favorite characters through this skill and craft is meaningful. It is way more than just poor quality Halloween store costuming. These are very expensive, time consuming pieces of art.

Which is the craziest thing you have done or experienced so far?

I would have to say San Diego Comic Con is always a crazy experience. The crowds are insane and the amount of fandoms there are amazing. Literally the whole city gets involved in the madness that is Comic Con.

Do you have any guilty pleasures?

Oh ya. I love watching TV shows and some of those shows are not the best quality shows but they are so fun to watch. I really love watching Pretty Little Liars on Freeform. I have been since college and it is a total guilty pleasure. It’s such a lame soap opera but it’s so addicting. I also really like watching Catfish on MTV. That show is so intense! But I do also watch good quality shows too haha! I love The Walking Dead, The Flash, Arrow, Bates Motel, The Crown and Stranger Things as well.

If you could describe yourself as a flavor, what will it be?

Hmmmm that is an interesting question! I know this sounds really weird and in depth, but I would have to say a Chai Latte! Chai spice can be really spicy but at the same time the vanilla and cream flavors really are sweet. I myself can be spicy and sweet!

How long do you think you’ll survive a zombie apocalypse?

I honestly was thinking about this the other day after watching The Walking Dead. I would say I would head down to San Diego to this little island across the bay called Coronado. It is surrounded by water on mainly all sides and the only thing that connects it to the mainland is a bridge and a tiny strip of beach called “the strand.” I feel like zombies would have a hard time getting there. Also the Navy is located there and that would be great for protection. I really have thought about this!

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Amanda. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I would define sexy as not trying too hard to be sexy. I think the people that are the sexiest are the ones that do not show it off too much. In the cosplay world there are some cosplayers who show nothing but boobs and butt, and while that might be great for them and their followers, I always find it’s sexier to show off your skill before showing off literally everything else. I don’t feel like you need to post overly sexualized pictures and up close photos of a butt to attract good attention. I also think it is sexy when someone does charity work or good deeds for other people!

    Cosplayer, Model & Gamer Kiyo

Hi Kiyo thank you for taking the time to answer our questions on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

My name’s Kiyo, and I’m a cosplayer, casual model and gamer from Glendale, AZ that’s currently living in sunny Singapore. I do a lot of crafting for my cosplays so I guess you could say I’m kind of an amateur crafter as well.

    Photo: Boris.秋村 Photography
    Photo: Boris.秋村 Photography

How did you get started into cosplay?

It’s quite funny how things started out actually. I met a friend in high school that had an interest in anime and told me that he’s doing cosplay. At that point in time, cosplay wasn’t as BIG as it is now, the cosplay community here was still pretty small and there weren’t many large scale events at the point in time. This friend of mine brought me to a small event, to show me what things are really about and what he does for fun. I’ve seen people in costumes and wigs of characters they adore, and the passion and effort they put towards doing this made me actually want to try it out. So eventually I did. And here I am about 6 years later, still enjoying what I did from day one.

Which characters have you enjoyed cosplaying most?

As of right now, I think my favourite character I’ve cosplayed so far has to be Tracer. I’ve put a lot of effort into the creation of her costume, props as well as her makeup and persona, so seeing people love her as much as I do really makes me happy.

Is there any characters you have in mind to cosplay next?

Of course there are! I think the upcoming cosplays that I have in mine are mostly Overwatch or Fate Grand Order related. There’s just too many to just list out actually…

    Photo: Pireze
    Photo: Pireze

If you could have a super power, what will you choose to have?

Oh man, that’s a hard question. I think probably mind control. Or maybe something like Jean Grey or Raven. That would be pretty damned cool I’d say.

What do you like to do in your free time besides cosplay?

I mostly just game or watch game playthroughs in my free time. I usually play Overwatch or World of Warcraft. But if there’s new games I’d like to play then I’ll try those too.

Which is your favorite type of food?

I eat sushi religiously and I have zero regrets.

How will you describe an ideal date?

I’m not the kind that does like fancy dinners or anything, I’m pretty simple so even a movie date or just getting to know each other over coffee would be great enough for me. I just really enjoy company.

It’s a pleasure to feature you Kiyo. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I think confidence, like self confidence is sexy. Doing and wearing what you want without caring about what other people say about you. That’s my definition of sexy.

    Cosplayer & Photographer Erika

Hi Erika thank you for taking the time to answer our questions on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Thank you for the consideration and honor to be part of your platform! Hey everyone, I am Erika, a South Florida Cosplayer. I always get the question “why do you cosplay”? I deal with depression a lot so this is a way for me to get out of my life for a little bit, cosplay has brought out a side of me that was hidden deep inside.

    7

When did your interest in cosplay start?

I mean it started way before I even knew it was a fad. I always loved dressing up and when I went to my first con almost two years ago, it opened up my eyes to something huge.

Which characters have you enjoyed cosplaying most?

I am a TOTAL Disney Freak! Ariel or basically being any mermaid has its top spot on the list. I love genderbending Spiderman, he has always been my favorite superhero. Also, when I get into my Lady Deadpool costume I feel as if I have the most fun.

    erikaroses_spidergirl_edit_01

What is one misconception about cosplayers you have heard of?

I can’t just choose one, there is so much to this that people don’t understand. The main one is all women dress up for attention (even though this is slightly true, I just have so much to say about it so let’s stop here). Cosplayers are all immature and it’s only a thing for kids. Ohh and my favorite one is seeing all the protestors at the cons because apparently we don’t believe in god.

If you could have a super power, what will you choose to have?

The power of flight. I mean, I dream to travel the world and that would be extremely helpful. Also the fact that I would get to go see the people I love more often.

    1xx

Are you a morning person or night owl?

Night owl! Mostly because of my insomnia but I am a grumpy pants in the morning. Do not try reasoning with me before 11am, it will not happen.

What do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

Their smile and eyes. The slightest glimpse or grin can mean a lot.

    erika-spidey

Do you feel that guys should always make the first move, and why?

I guess I am more old school and I love it when a man takes control. I am super shy and in the past lost LOTS of opportunities because the guy expected me to make a move or just thought I wasn’t interested. Guys! If you’re reading this, I don’t mean for you to be a total creep or be annoying but if you truly want something, make a damn move because maybe she wants you to but is too shy to say it.

    2

It’s a pleasure to feature you Erika. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

To me sexy isn’t all about what you wear, it’s about your personality and how you act. I am a photographer; boudoir shots are my favorite to shoot and not because of the attire.
