Indonesian stylist and entrepreneur Michelle Koesnadi

As a fashion inspiration and photography lover, Michelle Koesnadi has build up her blog Glisters and Blisters with a massive following of fans who are interested to find out fashion and styling tips from this lovely entrepreneur. We catch up with Michelle in this quick interview and ask the ELLE Style Awards 2011 Blogger of the Year winner a few questions.

SimplySxy:  Hi Michelle, it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Can you share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Michelle: I am from Indonesia. I am a stylist / entrepreneur and I owe my current jobs from blogging in the first place!

SimplySxy:  You’re a mother and have a second child on the way! How do you manage to juggle everything to seem so effortlessly and also look so great?

Michelle: Honestly, I don’t think that I always look great! My Instagram is just a fraction of my life, so I guess people can’t always see the ugly lazy side of me haha… I am not trying to portray the super mom image or anything, I am just being as real as possible.

SimplySxy:  Other than your fashion posts, one of the best things about your Instagram are the pictures of food! Do you have any particular favourites to recommend the next time we are in Jakarta?

Michelle: Ah lots! Jakarta is a big and diverse city so there are a lot of great food wherever you go. I think that Nasi Campur Atek (the first outlet in Duta Mas area is the best, but their other outlets around Jakarta will do) is truly magnificent. At night, “martabak” is a favorite hot ‘dessert’ for us Indonesians. We now have modern red velvet or nutella martabaks, but I’m a classic cheese martabak lover. My favorite is from Sinar Bulan (stall opens 6pm above along the Muara Karang river area). PS. None of these 2 places above are posh & chic spots, they simply serve great food! Feel free to wear shorts and flip flops…

If you’re looking for a nicer place to eat Indonesian food, I would recommend Tesate Restaurant. Superb meat skewers and lamb fried rice!

SimplySxy: What are some must have items in every girl’s wardrobe?

Michelle: A little black dress, a pair tall of black pumps… And a white shirt..

SimplySxy:  Which is one city you will love to visit to add to your photography collection but have yet to do so?

Michelle: Would love to go to Turkey and Iceland!

SimplySxy:  Can you share with us 3 fun facts about yourself which your fans probably do not know?

Michelle: Despite being a blogger, I am actually still camera shy (that explains why I crop my face out alot or hide it behind my hair !).

I don’t enjoy parties much. I only like it when I go with my best friends. When it’s just a random invite to an event, I usually turn it down. I prefer to stay at home since I work on most days, I need those free times with my family. I don’t and cannot eat chilli (this is very rare for an Indonesian).

SimplySxy: What is the craziest thing you have ever done?

Michelle: 3 hair colors in one week. From my virgin hair to ariel red, to maroon red and finally dark cranberry-burgundy-ish red.

SimplySxy: Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, Michelle. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Michelle: Confidence is always sexy. But above that, it’s having a good heart, being honest, and putting that big brain of yours to great use that also makes a girl sexy. Dumb (or pretending to be dumb) and fake girls are simply unattractive.
