Go to the east coast and take a chill weekend with salty ocean air. Go to Calgary and ski (if that’s your thing) or just marvel at how beautiful the mountains are. Go to British Columbia and check out the west coast vibe.

    I’d also suggest the northern part of Canada, like Yellowknife. Yellowknife was probably my favourite trip in Canada. Canada is so massive and impressive, and it was so cool (no pun intended) to be so far north.

    Ways To Be My Favorite Client

    By booking a multi-hour date, providing all the booking info in a concise, organized way, and by being charming and respectful during the date. Respect is the big one. I can basically enjoy being with anyone. Everybody has interesting characteristics and viewpoints.

    A client who isn’t respectful, however, is one I have to watch out for. I’m constantly on my guard because I know they’re going to try and breach a boundary, or treat me like I’m not actually a human being. A client who’s respectful, on the other hand, is someone I can let myself go with. And isn’t that what it’s all about?

    How did your interest in cosplaying come about?

    When I was in the last grade of school, my friends got a game on PSP bleach. We spent a lot of time playing it during lessons LOL. At some point, I wanted to take top billing and I began to watch this anime to understand who was the coolest. And I didn’t notice how I liked the anime itself, and a little later after watching a couple of hundred animes, I realized that I wanted to translate the characters I liked in real life.

    Which was your most challenging cosplay character you have done so far?

    This is definitely Raftalia from the Rice of the Shield Hero. I had to sew the cloth part of the costume and at the same time, find a 3D designer who can make her sword only from anime frames and approximate sizes. Since then, I prefer not to make characters from ongoings.

    What is a typical day like for you?

    I get up quite late, usually around 10 in the morning. I reply to work mail and comments on social networks. Sometimes I go to the office, but I prefer to work remotely. If I have time, I can play a little or retouch the photos. Most often, of course I work until 6pm and drawing layouts in Figma.

    In the evening, I prefer to meet friends or watch anime in good company. Unfortunately, the life of the cosplayer is not as interesting as many people think.

    If you could be an anime or cartoon character for real, who will you be?

    I think I would definitely be Chokola from Nekopara. I’m the same fidget and love to eat.

     

    On a scale of 1-10, how much of a foodie are you?

    I think 10. I really like to eat very tasty food. As Kojima used to say, what’s the point of living if you don’t eat deliciously? Or did Chuck Norris say it?

    Would you rather have the ability to stop time or talk to animals?

    I’m calling a Khajiit, and it means that of being here and thinking of nothing. Of course, to stop time, so I can rob any bank.

     

    What is a funny or lame attempt a guy has tried to know you before?

    One dude jokingly offered me $500 if I answered him, I wrote to him that I’m not such a girl, but $500 is $500. I really love people with a good sense of humor.

    Fear! Hands down, fear of speaking up, fear of speaking up amongst the community of other businesses. We can’t have normal business conversations from a business operations perspective because we still aren’t allowed to talk openly and frankly about our business. This means we face greater challenges of being able to evolve or develop healthier business attitudes and leadership toward and in our industry.

    We cannot openly participate in business development forums, workshops, proper advertising and general development of healthy business structures. That means we remain an incredibly vulnerable market, a market mostly full of woman. It allows stigma to be further etched into our collective thoughts and feelings, causing us to remain fearful of doing something as simple as asserting a basic human right like safety in fear of the repercussions (can’t spell that one).

    A great example of this is Covid-19 business restrictions. Though we live in a fantastic country where we are decriminalised, our industry has had ZERO LEADERSHIP from any formal body including its own sex working collective on how we are to operate safely in our different alert levels. This is simply tragic and unnecessary. This could cause a serious health risk to a massive task that all of NZ undertook to remain COVID free.

    What It Takes For The Industry To Improve

    This industry must take itself seriously and stop waiting for others to take us seriously if we are to improve. We can improve greatly by simply raising our own standards first, role model the high standard in which we would like to be seen in by others and take it from there. It will take a shift in attitude and perspective, and is going to take courage but we can do it.

    From this, other forms of development in our industry will evolve organically such as workshops, being able to be part of proper business training and management. These are all things that I can offer as a trained and qualified mentor, social worker and life coach. Also regular meetings, changes in legislation and policy, stronger and more transparent relationship building between us, our stakeholders and our communities will start to happen if we put ourselves forward.

    I understand it is scary to step up and be seen in an industry where we feel we have to hide, but it is having the opposite impact, it is keeping us vulnerable, not safe. WE have to step forward and be heard and seen.

    Misconceptions About Physical Appearances Of Sex Workers

    I personally believe there is. My belief was that I needed to be young, good looking, slim and prepared to have sex with anyone. That was my belief when I entered, I have heard this has been a similar belief for others and not like this at all for other people. Overall, I experience there being a lot of misconceptions about who we are and what we actually do

    What Can Be Done For Sex Workers To Feel Confident?

    A lot, that could be a documentary in itself, it’s a deep and complex matter. I always say start with yourself, “be the change you want to see happening” I genuinely live by that. Sex workers themselves need to take themselves seriously and stop waiting for a miracle out there to happen, it’s not going to happen, we have to pave the way and be strong about that.

    We call the shots, not them, not ever. Our bodies, our work, our thoughts our lives our expertise, we are the source of knowledge and expertise.

    How I See The Industry Evolving In The Coming Years

    At this rate, painfully slowly and much at all but at the same time I do see attitudes slowly changing and governments being more open in some places to the idea of legitimizing sex work. I would like to see more leadership coming together with other leadership in a way that is seen, transparent and effective for us as a whole.

    I do also see the industry gaining momentum with individual independent workers which I feel is giving birth to a new and more modern wave of sex workers who are more vocal about their right to work as a sex worker.

    Hey! I feel honored to be doing an interview with you guys! I’m originally from upstate NY in the Adirondacks but I live in Albany now. I graduated from Siena College with a Creative Arts Degree, and work full time at hooters. Along with modeling, I enjoy painting and hanging out with my bulldog, Bruce. I also enjoy traveling with him and my boyfriend. Spending time with friends and family is one of my top favorite things to do, too!

    How did you get started into modeling?

    I had done a few collab shoots when one of my managers told me I should consider submitting to the Hooters Calendar. I was nervous because I think I lacked confidence. I decided to give it a try. I wondered and hoped I would make it in. Months later on a family trip to Italy, I received the call that I had made it! I think that’s when I really felt confident about modeling and where my story began.

    Are there any perks you love or enjoy most about being a model?

    As a kid, my friends and I would dress up and do photoshoots constantly. I loved it, but being in such a small area there was a lack of opportunity. Now that I live in a slightly larger place I have been consistently shooting. It makes me feel like I’m making younger me proud! I also love being able to portray different versions of myself through modeling. One shoot I can be laughing and quirky, while the next shoot can be sensual and flirty!

    Which genre of modeling do you most like to do?

    I have the most experience in bikini/boudoir, but I really love it all and I’m up for the challenge of shooting new genres I have yet to try. After all, each shoot is a learning experience and a really great way to get to know yourself more.

    I am not a picky eater/drinker. But I do prefer snack foods over a typical meal, And I do NOT like beets, or Jameson!

    I LOVE traveling and trying new things so as far as that goes, I’ll give myself a 10. Although I’m not a huge risk taker, I have done some thrilling things!

    Have you been in an embarrassing situation that is funny now when you look back?

    Funny you should ask… I was recently “biking” here in Georgia with my boyfriend and his family where I quickly realized bicycling is NOT one of my strengths. As we were nearing the entrance of the path I got nervous seeing people walking towards me. I tried to do an immediate stop and fell off of the bike, my water bottle went flying, and I basically crashed!

    A younger girl kindly asked if I was ok and I awkwardly responded, “yes thank you I haven’t ridden a bike in years!” I almost cried. I was so embarrassed! (It happened a few more times along the way) But it’s funny now hahaha!

    As strange as this sounds I can’t name one but that might be because I always just assume someone is being nice and friendly and nothing more.

    My name is Valerie, and I’m a model and artist living in LA. I grew up in NYC and Vegas before moving to LA for college, so I’ve been living in big cities my whole life. Being around so many different cultures and creatives, I was really inspired to start creating art myself.

    What inspired you to be a model?

    I love creating and connecting with an audience. I started off with painting, mostly in working with fluid mediums and bright colors, as well as some nature photography. Modeling just seemed like another creative outlet to express myself.

    Is posing on camera a lot harder than it looks?

    Posing on camera may come naturally to some people, but for me it took some adjusting. I used to be really camera shy and tried emulating poses I’ve seen other girls doing, but I’ve found my favorite photos that come out of a shoot are usually the ones where I’m just smiling or laughing because that’s how my natural personality is off camera.

    Which is a memorable or unforgettable photoshoot experience have you had?

    The most memorable shoot I’ve done was at Venice Beach because it was completely packed with people. Walking around in those crazy outfits, pretty much every person I waked passed was staring, and many decided to even take their own pictures of me. I got to meet so many new and different people, and everyone I spoke to was super nice and supportive!

    Do you follow a strict beauty and exercise regime?

    I don’t really have a beauty regimen, I just try to go bare-faced as much as possible to avoid clogging my pores and breaking out. I also follow a mostly vegan diet, with the exception of fish on occasion to get my Omega-3’s, Iron , and B12.

    As for exercise, I weight-lift every other day, giving my body a day in between to rest and recover. On my off days I either do some light exercise like yoga for an hour, or I do just 15 minutes of HIIT training.

    On a scale of 1-10, how much of a fashionista are you?

    As a model, I do need to keep a closet of fashionable outfits that will photograph well and create a memorable photo. However, when I’m not modeling I like to wear a lot of things I find from thrift shops that might be currently out of style but have character. I also really prefer being comfortable over fashionable in my free time, but I do love wearing bright colors!

    Have you been in an embarrassing situation that is funny now when you look back?

    I peed my pants from laughing too hard on shrooms LOL.

    What is a lame or funny attempt a guy has tried to know you?

    The funniest thing a guy has ever done to woo me was show up at my doorstep decked out in a glitter suit, blasting “Must Be With You” by the Pussycat Dolls from his car stereo. Definitely will never forget that.

    Variety! In the modeling industry, most are looking for really tall and skinny or a certain race or nationality, instead of being all inclusive.

    How much of a risk taker are you?

    I am a very big risk taker. I started my modeling career part time in Colorado and knew I’d have to move to a bigger market to make it my full time career. Within a year, I picked up and moved to Vegas knowing absolutely no one, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made.

    Is there something in life you can’t get enough of?

    At the moment, we are in the middle of a pandemic. So my days consist of waking up having my coffee. Doing homeschool with my daughter and studying for my real estate license. We have been doing bike rides and trips to see the blue waves at the beach also.
