    Interview with Dr Roger Libby

SimplySxy: What was the inspiration and motivation that made you want to be a sexologist?

Dr Roger Libby: It was on my parents’ advice! They told me to follow my passion and choose a career that I loved—to do something I was good at, and something I enjoyed. My passion has always been sexual enthusiasm and the excitement sex creates. When I enrolled in graduate school to pursue my passion, my parents were surprised (“We didn’t know you’d take us literally!”), but they shouldn’t have been!

SimplySxy: It is very common to hear the term “sex positivity” being used these days in various instances. As the pioneer who created the term sex positivity in 1976, what is your definition of it and how has the term evolved to the present?

Dr Roger Libby: I created and popularized “sex-positive” based on the writings of sexologist Wilhelm Reich in Germany in the 1940’s to emphasize that erotic pleasure is indeed positive—a healthy, enthusiastic and playful option to the overemphasis on sex as a problem. Sex doesn’t have to be a problem! Being sex-positive means affirming sexual open, joyous sexual freedom and consensual, lusty pleasure. It means supporting rather than stifling sexually free and uplifting choices, and offering sex education that is pro-sexual rather than anti-sexual (as with the current emphasis on abstinence). My award-winning university textbook in 1980 with Gilbert Nass and Mary Pat Fisher, Sexual Choices, was dedicated “Toward a Sex-Positive Society.

SimplySxy: One of your specialities is in couple counselling and sex therapy. What is one advice you can give to couples in long- term relationships in order to have regular sex and enjoy it as well?

Dr Roger Libby: In my Seattle couples counseling practice, I emphasize long term relationships benefit from prioritizing and varying acts of sexual passion. Lust and love need equal billing, so passion is encouraged. Rather than overemphasizing work and children, sexual playtime needs to include sharing and acting on erotic fantasies with plenty of laughter and imagination. This means creating sexual experiences that are not a repeat of the last lovemaking session. It means having sex by a river and not just in a bed. It means experimenting with sexual positions, oral sex and for some, anal sex. For some couples, it means engaging in sex with others at a swinger party, or as part of an open or polyamorous relationship. We cannot assume that monogamy suits all couples for their entire lifetime together. I would play down alcohol and for some couples, marijuana can enhance sex.

SimplySxy: Your book, The Naked Truth About Sex, aims to provide enough information to teenagers and college students to make wise sexual choices. It is no secret that teenagers are having sex and many are sexually active at an increasingly younger age. Is sexual education in schools now more important than ever?

Dr Roger Libby: My book is available, along with my humor book, at Amazon. Both books underscore an informed, consensual and playful approach to sex. I did a reanalysis of a Zogby poll for my teenage book, and I found that only 0.5% of females and 1% of males in the youngest age cohort, 18‒24, had not had sex. So much for abstinence before marriage! I carried out an extensive interview study of a random sample of parents to ascertain their attitudes toward high school sex education in the mid-1960s. Most wanted sex education, but they wanted their basically sex-negative view of education touting abstinence and monogamy for all. Today’s sex education in public high schools is still limited and very traditional. If we only learn about the dangers of sex, there is no balance resulting in objective, comprehensive sex education. Sex education is extremely important today, but given the resistance from political correctness, The Internet and phone apps offer the most promising avenues to real sex education. The schools and the media have failed teenagers and young adults by watering down and moralizing about sex. This will never work!

SimplySxy: We understand that there are schools and some education systems in various parts of the world which do not provide adeuate sexual education to students. For example, promoting the use of condoms might be seen as promoting sex. What do you think needs to be done for this to change?

Dr Roger Libby: Some schools include information about condoms, but they still fail to affirm pleasure. They tend to focus on STIs and unwanted pregnancy to the near exclusion of a sex-positive form of sex education. Notable exceptions are Sweden and Holland, where sex education is thorough and non-moralistic. It is true that contraceptive education is still highly controversial, as many adults in power view such education as promoting sex. Even in my mid-1960’s study of parents, most approved of contraceptive education. Birth control and abortion make sexual freedom possible. Given recent Supreme Court decisions about birth control, it is obvious that we reside in a theocracy with the lack of true separation of church and state. As Wilhelm Reich stressed, rigid religion is the arch-enemy of sex.

SimplySxy: You have previously announced that sexual “addiction” does not exist. Does this mean that one can never have too much sex and that there is no such thing as excessive masturbation/sexual activity?

Dr Roger Libby: “Sex Addiction” and the notion of Sex Addiction Therapy is an unproven concept that has not been empirically supported. The DSM manual that therapists use to diagnose mental conditions chose not to include this irrational concept in its most recent edition, because there is not sufficient research support or conceptual clarity to justify its inclusion. You can’t be addicted to yourself. Sex is part of us. The moralistic connotation of the concept is inescapable. There are far too many mental health counselors who claim to solve “sex addiction.” Marriage and family counselor organizations have done us a great disservice by promoting “sex addiction,” as if it is a viable reality. It is not. This does not mean that some are not obsessive and compulsive about sex, and they need some counseling to put sex in balance. If you can’t make it to work because you are masturbating to mostly unimaginative porn, this is a problem, but otherwise, how could we have too much sex?! “Sex addiction” counselors assume there is a standard that dictates what is normal sexually, and this is untrue. Cognitive-behavior therapy helps these people enjoy sex without obsessing about it in an unbalanced manner. Contrary to “sex addiction” counselors, sex is not something to fear. These counselors tend to use the twelve step program to solve addictions, but this does not work, because this outdated AA approach does not get at internal locus of control. We are not powerless to take control of our behavior. To the contrary, we have the potential to take complete control of our thoughts, feelings and behavior, including sexually.

SimplySxy: Thank you very much Dr Roger Libby for taking your time out to answer our questions. We greatly appreciate your effort and am sure our readers have enjoyed the interview as well.

  • Interview with Erotica Novelist: Troy Lambert

Interview with Erotica Novelist: Troy Lambert

A sexual tryst at the Seven Bells Motel

One-Night-in-Boise-by-Troy-Lambert-500-200x300Detective Derek Marshek’s sex life with his wife Cheri is amazing and they take it up a notch by including role plays into their sexual trysts at the Seven Bells Motel.  One day, Derek’s world gets turned upside down.  A dead body is found outside their motel and his gun is missing.  But is there more to this crime scene than meets the eye? An erotica with a mixture of romance and suspense, One Night in Boise takes the reader through a roller coaster ride keeping them on the edge of their seats through its twists and turns.

SimplySxy takes the opportunity to speak to the author, Troy Lambert on his insipiration behind One Night in Boise and the advice he can give to aspiring erotica writers who wish to try their hand in writing.

    [Interview with Troy Lambert]

SimplySxy: What was the inspiration behind One Night in Boise?

Troy: The inspiration for One Night in Boise was a challenge: I write thrillers, had written sex    scenes in them, but this took at least the sex to another level. As sex is certainly thrilling and can be suspenseful, it seemed right up my alley. The story idea came to me early one morning, with the simple first line of the book, “It’s a dangerous game we play.”

SimplySxy: One Night in Boise is book one of the City Nights Series. How does the series link up?

Troy: The City Nights series is an erotic romance series sponsored by Tirgearr Publishing. The guidelines are simple: the story must be novella length, take place in a 24 hour period in a city of the author’s choosing. The story must be a mix of erotica and romance—not just a “sex” story, but one with strong character development as well.

I’m also the managing editor of the series, and the next book is One Night in Paris by Lucy Felthouse, followed by One Night in Rome by C. Margery Kempe and One Night in New Orleans by Kristi Ahlers. There will be one novella released a month, until we run out of authors and cities.

SimplySxy: How do you differentiate between erotica and romance?

Troy: Romance is more about characters and story. Much of the genre, like other fiction, is character or plot driven. Romance can have several heat levels, from the closed bedroom door, mild level of sex to erotic, hot love scenes.

Erotica is more about hot sex. Sex not only must be an integral part of the story, but it often is the story.

In this series the blend of the two is very important. The sex must be hot, but the story also has to be good, thus the erotic romance category. I added a sub-genre of thriller and it seems to work very well for readers.

SimplySxy: Are there any advice to new authors?

I get asked this one often, and my stock answer is this: if you can do something else, do it. Being a writer, making a living at it, is hard, and you really don’t get paid all that well for all the hours you put in.

But if like me, you find you really aren’t good for much else, and “normal” jobs seem to never work out because you simply have to write and you can’t help yourself, then stop worrying about how to “make a living” as a writer.

Do things with two criteria: Write things you enjoy writing that also pay at least something. Then learn to live on what you can make pursuing your passion. You might be poor for a while or even a long time, but you will be doing what you love and that is worth more than any mansion or fancy car.

    [Excerpt]

It’s a dangerous game we play.

We like to play year round, but the snow, the cold has us turning to other games to pass the time in the winter. Tonight, though it is not yet spring, it is warm for early April, and we are both ready.

The yellow streetlights emit tight yellow pools of light that she avoids carefully. I circle the block, seeing if I can spot her in the shadows. When she spies the old Caprice, she steps to the curb.

She wears red leather. My favorite. A tight mini skirt, thigh high boots, and a laced corset envelop her curves. Her scarlet lipstick matches a bow wrapped in her brunette hair, completing the look.

She’s not as young as she used to be, but then neither am I. When I look at her though, I still see the girl I married over 20 years ago. Other guys try to pick her up whenever we play, and once she even had to explain the game to a passing undercover officer, one of my colleagues. It cost me a $150 bottle of scotch to sweep that one under the rug, but it was worth it.

I pull alongside and roll down the passenger window. “Hey there.”

“Looking for a date?” She blows little bubbles with the gum she chews, popping them with her teeth. Oh, God those teeth, those lips, that mouth.

    “Yeah baby, how much?”

Her gaze crawls over me, evaluating, craving. “For you, $20 for a blow, half and half for $40, and all the way for $80.”

    “It’s a deal. Get in.”

Opening the door, she drops into the passenger seat. The skirt rides up, and her lace panties peek out at me. She tugs the skirt down seductively, but not before I spot the wetness at her crotch. I can hardly sit still and wonder how my erection is not interfering with the steering wheel. Jesus, she turns me on.

She puts her gloved hands on my arm, and the hairs there stand to attention. “You have someplace we can go?”

“Sure do,” I say. She shuts the door, and I drive to the Seven Bells Motel at the end of the block.

Cindy Starfall, the Asian Sensation, shares her love

Cindy Starfall was raised in a strict Vietnamese household that did not allow her to express herself sexually.  A year ago, the Asian sensation decided to make a career out of her sexual liberation by joining the adult industry.  Cindy is a regular at upscale swinger events and parties and loves celebrating her sexuality with fun, open-minded couples.  Since her debut the gorgeous exotic star has worked with XXX production companies such as Hustler, Wicked, Penthouse, Evil Angel, Digital Playground, Adam & Eve and many more.  Cindy is also a celebrated feature entertainer and currently tours the most popular gentlemen’s clubs with Hustler’s Asian Invasion Tour.  Cindy has already launched an online store where fans can buy DVDs, request autographed pictures and other Cindy Starfall memorabilia directly from the star. The business-savvy beauty launched the first design in her men’s t-shirt line at the 2014 AE Expo.  Though the petite starlet has only been performing in the adult industry for a year, her work has already been celebrated with a Best New Starlet nomination for the 2014 AVN Awards and XRCO Awards. Cindy was also nominated for Best Scene in a Non-Feature Release in the 2014 XBiz Awards.

SimplySxy: Has the internet made the adult industry more difficult and competitive?

Cindy Starfall: In my opinion, the internet did make the industry more competitive but I believe there is still a DVD market out there who is willingly to spend money to watch new movies instead of waiting for free clips online.

SimplySxy: What are some of the misconceptions people have about the adult industry?

Cindy: The two main misconceptions about the adult industry that I often encounter are that we are diseased people and we are uneducated people.

First of all, these misconceptions can be found in any industry, even mainstream entertainment, so just because we have sex on camera does not mean that we are all dirty people.  We are tested every 14 days.  Because sex is my job, I’m more conscious of my body and take better care of it.
Another misconception that the reason we do porn (is) because we are uneducated and can’t do anything else, so we have to “sell” ourselves.  I want to state that the reason we do porn is because we genuinely love sex.  As for me, I love the audience and the fantasy of having someone or a camera watching me is a turn on.  I graduated with a BA in Business Marketing and know many porn stars with college educations!

Of course, there are some pornstars out there that fit the typical stereotype, but please be open minded and don’t generalize us all to be in one category!

    Cindy_Starfall_red2279

SimplySxy: Can you share with us one funny/awkward/embarassing moment that have happened on set?

Cindy: An awkward moment would be when I first started, I did a hardcore throat f**king scene and he shot a huge load all over my face. Accidentally, few drops got into my eyes and it started to get red.  I was new so I didn’t bring any eye drops for my eyes.  So I went to a drug store and the lady was very helpful, but she couldn’t stop asking why I’m getting pink eyes.  What should I say? Oh somebody just shot a huge load in my eyes?  LOL

SimplySxy: Does all the sex during filming make it easier or harder when you have sex off camera?

Cindy:  Sex on camera is different that sex off camera.  I still have sex a lot off camera because I don’t have to worry much about giving a performance, lighting, timing, etc and I can just enjoy the moment.

SimplySxy:  Solo, DP, Gangbang, which scene do you like best?

Cindy: I love when a guy is f**king me and slides his finger into my asshole so we can kinda call it a DP.  Since I’m still an anal virgin, one day I will definitely try it.  I also love gangbangs because (I’m) surrounded by many horny men and they can take advantage of me.

    cindy_starfall_blackred2965

SimplySxy:  Do you love using sex toys in the bedroom? And name a favourite sex toy you can’t do without?

Cindy: I love using my sex toys in the bedroom as part of my everyday routine.  We can find all of my favourite sex toys in “Brookstone” in the mall LOL.  They call it a “personal massager”.   Everytime I walk in the store, I fantasize about giving people a visual demonstration.  Some of my favourites also include the Hitachi and Lelo vibrator,…

SimplySxy: Please share with us one of your sexual fantasies?

Cindy: One of my sexual fantasies is being man-handled by two brothers or two best friends, because not everyone is comfortable in having sex with someone close to them or the social rule is that you don’t f**k your guy’s brother or best friend.  The idea is twisted and it makes it more exciting.

SimplySxy: Which body part of a guy do you like most?

Cindy: Besides his big cock and his smile, I love a man with a brain.  If I can’t have a conversation with someone, no matter how attractive he is, I eventually get bored and the sex can be boring.

    cindy_starfall_lace2885

SimplySxy: What is the most orgasmic thing a guy can do to you?

Cindy: Clit, clit ,clit! Licking my clit is the magic word.  My eyes would start rolling back and the only thing I want to do is jump on him and f**k the heck out of that cock.

SimplySxy:  In your opinion, what defines sex positivity?

Cindy: Chemistry.  It’s about pleasing each other, finding each other orgasmic spot and getting to know each other body.

A message from you to all your fans and the SimplySxy readers:

  • Interview: Betty Dodson

    Interview: Betty Dodson

    Betty_2_t600

Artist, sex-educator, writer, and feminist, Betty Dodson originally began her career as an artist.  In 1968, the Wichita-Kansas native entered the sexual arena with the first one-woman show of erotic art held in New York at the Wickersham Gallery.  Three other exhibitions followed and in 1973, Dodson produced and presented the first feminist slide show of vulvas at the 1973 NOW Sexuality Conference, New York in which she introduced the then revolutionary idea of an electric vibrator as a pleasure device.  She next went beyond the art world with her groundbreaking book, Liberating Masturbation: A Meditation on Selflove which became a feminist classic.  Her subsequent work, Sex for One: The Joy of Selfloving, sold over a million copies and became a mainstay in some feminists’ circles.

Sex for One is in part, a memoir of Dodson personal journey for a healthy sexual self-image.  The book also utilized her provocative and powerful images of couples making love, individuals exploring their bodies and close-up drawings of vulvas.  In 2002, she published Orgasms for Two, a work embracing partner sex.  Most recently, she released My Romantic Love Wars: A Sexual Memoir, an e-book which details her experiences with America’s Sexual Revolution, the women’s movement and her feminist sexual activism with bodysex groups that she conducted over a span of 25 years.

Dodson has spent decades helping women and men understand that self-love is both healthy and beautiful and a portal to sexual freedom.  Her work with sex-positive feminist, Carlin Ross, encompasses every aspect of female sexuality and continues to attract legions of admirers.

    Betty’s Artwork

Francesca Miller spends 15 minutes with world renowned sex educator, author and artist, Betty Dodson to discuss her career and views on erotica today.

Q: A Women’s study class introduced me to Sex for One and I still have my original copy. Can you talk about the early responses to Sex for One?

For some, I was their favourite dirty joke, but many others appreciated my honest approach to a taboo subject.

Q: How has your work been greeted by the religious community?

    Ignored as you might expect.

Q: There seems to be a generational divide between women and masturbation. Younger women and teens seem to embrace it along with sex toys and pornography, while older women still have issues with it. Can you speak to that?

Since I answer questions from girls and women the world over, I have to disagree with your assessment. Far too many continue to believe they will get their orgasms from Romeo’s penis once they find Mr. Right and “fall in love.”

Q: You are the first woman to refer to yourself as a sex-positive feminist. Can you discuss your brand of feminism versus what some consider traditional feminism? Have you noticed a change in the way other feminists respond to your work?

I can’t take full credit for that term. In the 80’s I joined an academic group of women who wanted to counter WAP (women against pornography) by creating FFE (Feminists for Freedom of Expression). Neither group lasted that long. However, I continued to use the term “Sex Positive Feminists” in my articles while others dropped it.

Unfortunately many feminists feared the subject of sex as a divisive topic. It took me 40 years of teaching women how to have orgasms with masturbation to finally enter mainstream feminism. I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Q: In your workshops, you invite women to look at their vaginas and embrace their beauty. I’ve noticed that some women have their vulvas surgically transformed to fit the image of adult film actresses. I live in Los Angeles and have even ads on the radio for cosmetic vaginal surgery. Can you talk about it?

I didn’t have women looking at their “vaginas.” That’s the birth canal and we would have needed a speculum. Instead we viewed the outer form of the vulva to see we were all different and also quite beautiful.

Since women are so insecure, they see their boyfriends masturbating to porn and they imitate what they think men want. Most porn stars not only get their inner lips trimmed but they also have breast implants, liposuction, laser treatments and numerous other procedures to look good on camera. Labiaplasty is just another way plastic surgeons make money from foolish women trying to please men.

Q: The popularity of erotic romances like Fifty Shades of Grey has led many women to self-pleasuring and “battery-operated-boyfriends”. Have you read Fifty Shades of Grey?  What do you think of literary erotica?

I enjoy well written erotica. However Fifty Shades was poorly written and it did the SM community a disservice. This subculture is always clear about consent and boundaries. Fifty Shades was the ultimate in romantic crap that we might call female porn.

Betty Dodson is a pioneer in women’s sexual liberation and has for more than 30 years been conducting workshops to help women (and occasionally men) overcome their reservations with their sexuality.  An accomplished author, Betty’s first book Sex for One has sold more than a million copies.

  • Interview with Mistress Anna

    Interview with Mistress Anna

The recent HongKong Kink Con was held from 14-16 February and SimplySxy had the opportunity to ask one of the presenters, Mistress Anna, a few questions on her involvement in HKKC as well as her interests.

SimplySxy: How did you get involved in HKKC?

Mistress Anna: I was very lucky to be put forward by Decima of whom I had became acquainted with at Sydney Rope Dojo several years ago. I had also invited Decima along to my Sydney Dommes & subs Munch on several occasions and she made quite a lasting impact with the group. Such an experienced international Domina!

SimplySxy: What can people look forward to in your Humiliation and CBT workshops and why are they so popular?

Mistress Anna: I hope I can bring my own style and flavour to the table- I tend to be sadistic… in the nicest or NOT SO nicest possible way {evil grin}. I’m sure there are some of the old favourites and I hope to show {and hopefully learn} a new trick or two.

I think these classes are so popular because they can bring out the most down right evil and sadistic play. Humiliation play can delve deep into the psyche and can touch our most inner emotions.

SimplySxy: At HKKC you’re conducting two Boot Camp Mistress sessions. How do they differ from more conventional Bootcamps offered in various cities around the world?

Mistress Anna: Getting fit and BDSM is the best possible kind of match! Who doesn’t want to be “FORCED to get fit”?

SimplySxy: How important is it to attend workshops as a presenter or an attendee?

Mistress Anna: People should never stop learning, expanding and experiencing. There are always new techniques, revision, networking, community good will and more to be shared from a presenter or attendees point.

SimplySxy: Brian Robertson mentioned in his interview that he chose you because you are so integrated into your own community as an organiser. How do you contribute to your community in Sydney?

Mistress Anna: My contributions in the Kink Community are integrated into all aspects of my Lifestyle. I run The Sydney Dommes and subs group, we meet monthly for a Munch and I usually have a topic or theme.

During the Munches we have raised money for ACON (as part of The Boot Camp CITY2SURF group), against Human Trafficking in Thailand, WIRES for the Wildlife from the Australian bushfire disasters, and in February we are supporting one of our Domina who is doing FEBFAST (raising money for alcohol and drug rehabilitation).
Last year we had a Domme and sub “Morning Tea” when VIP guest Milla Reika was here for Sydney Rope Festival and in March we support one of our Ladies who is “Ms Sydney Leather 2013” to fly to the U.S to vie for the International role.

I have extended invitations to other groups such as Sydney Leather Pride, Ms Dee from UBER, SWOP and HELLFIRE to our Munches to widen the knowledge in our community and in kind I have been asked to present workshops during Sydney Leather Pride week and at UBER.  My Boot Camp sessions have branched off into 1 to 1 Boot Camp sessions and I often “manscape” subs with hair removal by wax.  My dear friend Ms Silk takes Kinky Yoga at my premises together we motivate kinksters through better health and flexibility to achieve their own personal kinky goals. A health and nutrition catering company called “Love Kitchen” operates out of my premises from my commercial kitchen~kinksters can order daily and weekly bespoke meals.

My vision is for healthy mind, body and spirit for our Kink Community under one roof~a holistic integrated centre.  Next to join me will be a Life Coach, a Nutritionist, a Chiropractor, Naturopath and Massuse.  The plan seems to be coming together!!

For more information on Mistress Anna, visit her website here.  HongKong Kink Con might be over for this year, but do follow them at their website here to keep yourself updated for any new information or events that might be coming up!

  • Interview with erotic romance novelist Julie Shelton

Interview with erotic romance novelist Julie Shelton

    Julie Shelton’s Dark Warrior

With two highly successful erotic romances novels, Loving Sarah and Owing Sarah, under her belt, Julie Shelton returns with her hotly anticipated third book, Dark Warrior.  Based in Atlanta, Georgia, Julie received the Top Pick Award at Risque Reviews for Loving Sarah and is also a recipient of the EDPRESS Award for Excellence in Educational Journalism.

Due for release this January 15th 2014, I had the unique opportunity of getting to know Julie’s inspiration behind Dark Warrior and her passion for writing.js-darkwarrior

Mandy Tan:  Congratulations Julie on the upcoming release of your new book Dark Warrior, as well as taking the time out to answer a few questions on SimplySxy.  Please share with us about Dark Warrior and what readers can expect from it.

Julie Shelton:  Thank you so much, Mandy for having me on SimplySxy.  Dark Warrior is my third book to be published, but it was actually the very first book I sat down and wrote from start to finish—and that was over forty years ago!  Readers can expect a thrilling story about three people who find a love so powerful, so forbidden, it places them in extreme danger and forces them to make devastating choices.

Mandy:  What led you to writing Dark Warrior

Julie:  I was in college and buried in research on the Middle Ages because I wanted to graduate “With Honors” and in order to meet the requirements I had to write a paper of at least 100 pages on any subject, although the paper had to be in French, since French was my major.  I had always loved the middle ages, so I decided to write my paper on life in a French castle during the 13th century.  While I was researching, taking notes on 3 x 5 index cards, one fact per card, the entire plot of Dark Warrior literally sprang into mind.  I couldn’t write it down fast enough—also on 3 x 5 index cards, one sentence per card.  The finished book filled two shoe boxes, which I lugged around with me for the next thirty years as I moved from place to place.  When I got my first computer in 2003, Dark Warrior was the first thing I transcribed onto my word processor.

Mandy:  Where did the inspiration come to begin writing erotic romance novels and what is the story behind getting your first novel Loving Sarah published?

Julie: Well, over the next thirty years, while Dark Warrior languished in its shoe boxes, I started keeping a writer’s notebook, which I carried with me everywhere, jotting down descriptions, thoughts, plot ideas, bits of conversations.  You know.  Everything.  In the meantime, I was a children’s librarian, then a professional storyteller and puppeteer, writing children’s stories, songs, finger plays, etc.  I also wrote what used to be referred to as a Gothic novel, as well as a teacher’s resource book on storytelling and making puppets.

I didn’t get the inspiration to write EROTIC romance novels until I discovered Lora Leigh, and from the first word, I. Was. Hooked.  Couldn’t get enough.  Started reading everything I could get my hands on, and back then, it didn’t seem like there was enough.  Then I discovered BDSM.  Couldn’t get enough of it!  When the idea for Loving Sarah came to mind, I just sat down at the computer and started writing.  I worked on it for four years, writing, polishing, editing, re-editing, etc.

Then I lost it!  The entire 385-page manuscript.  Wiped it clean out of my computer.  I was devastated. Moped around for months, despairing of ever being able to rewrite an entire novel.  And then one day I had to print something and the first page to come out of the printer was the 370th page of Loving Sarah!  The entire novel, except the last 15 pages was still in the print queue!  Needless to say, I decided to finish it and send it off to a publisher ASAP.

I picked Siren because they published many of my newly-discovered favourite authors.  You can imagine how thrilled I was when they said they wanted to publish it!

Mandy:  What do you love most about writing erotic romance novels?

Julie:  I love the deep emotional commitment and almost spiritual connection BDSM brings to a relationship.  Then, of course, there’s all that wild, kinky sex, heh heh heh.

Mandy:  I am sure your books have been an inspiration to many readers out there.  Do you have any advice to aspiring erotic romance novelists?

Julie:   Just put your butt in the chair and write.  And when you’re not writing, read.  Do your research.

Mandy:  What are your plans after Dark Warrior and is there a fourth book in the pipeline?

Julie:  There IS a fourth book in the pipeline.  I am currently working on a third book about Sarah, Jesse and Adam which will explore the growing attraction between Jesse and Adam.  It will be shorter than the first two.  Then I’m planning books about some of Jesse and Adam’s former SEAL buddies.

Mandy:  I am eagerly looking forward to reading Dark Warrior when it is out.  Are you able to share an excerpt from Dark Warrior to give our readers a taste of what is to come?

Julie:  I would love to share an excerpt from Dark Warrior.  Just be sure to have a fan and a pitcher of ice water handy before you read it, lol.

    ADULT EXCERPT

They stared at her, their hot eyes raking over her breasts, her belly, and the golden triangle of hair between her thighs. A hot flush stained her skin a delightful shade of pink, evidence of her acute state of arousal. And the fact that she was naked, while they were both still fully dressed gave her a feeling of deep disorientation. She was filled with such hunger, such love, such all-consuming need, she could barely stand.

Shivering, dry-mouthed, she watched Rolf’s expression as he reached out and touched her breasts with reverent fingers, his deeply tanned skin such a contrast to the soft creaminess of hers. His thumb rubbed across her hard little nipple and her face twisted, contorting with a mixture of love and lust so powerful, it presented more as pain than pleasure.

Spellbound, he watched his thumb dragging across her dusky nipple, his heated stare like fire brushing her skin. “By all the gods, yndling! Thou art bewitching, enchanting. Thou art perfection itself. And thy scent…” He leaned forward and inhaled deeply. “Thy scent is ravishing. Like the sweetest flower garden.” He covered her breast with his palm while his other hand stroked down her belly and cupped her mound, sliding his long fingers through the slippery furrow of her slit.

She gasped. It was almost a sob. Her body jerked and would have collapsed if Nicholas’s hands hadn’t come beneath her arms from behind and held her up.

“I can’t wait to taste thee here.” Rolf’s low voice was rough as sand, abrading her nerve endings, leaving her senses in chaos. Two wicked fingers found her weeping entrance and thrust up inside her hot, welcoming sheath.

Her throat closed on a yelp.

“That’s right, kaereste. Suck my fingers into that sweet dripping cunny of thine. Bloody Hel, thou’rt so tight! So hot. Thou art burning my fingers. I cannot wait to fuck thee with my tongue.”

She moaned, shutting her eyes helplessly.

Still fully dressed, both men walked her slowly backwards toward the bed, keeping her naked body sandwiched between them, Rolf’s hand still hard on her mound, fingers stroking in and out of her dripping cunt. “Odin’s beard, Nick, she is so wet! So hot!”

Another moan, a mangled sound, ripped from the depths of her soul. She was never going to survive this. These men were going to give her pleasure beyond anything she had ever known. Anything she had ever dreamed. Anything she had ever dared to hope—or even imagine. They were going to introduce her to a world of darkly erotic pleasure that would ultimately destroy the person she was and change her forever in ways she could not yet begin to understand. A pleasure that would awaken her body to wicked new cravings and desires that would could ultimately consume her.

And, God help her, she wanted it. She wanted it more than she had ever wanted aught in her entire life.

Still holding her under the arms, Nicholas sat on the edge of the bed, pulling her up after him, scooting backwards until he was sitting on the pillows at the head of the bed, with her sitting in the V of his thighs. His erection was a hard ridge against her spine. He leaned back against the ornately carved headboard. Rolf’s hand left her sex and she let out a whimper of disappointment.

Nicholas’s hands moved to her knees, which he lifted and spread wide, draping her legs over his powerful forearms. The scent of her arousal filled the air around them. “Christ, beloved! You smell wonderful! So sweet.”

She sighed, looking down her body at Rolf.

Having removed his baldric, with its two lethal swords, he swiftly removed the rest of his clothing and leaned on his hands at the foot of the bed, wild and barbaric, the gold earring gleaming dully in the firelight. He was the epitome of a Viking raider preparing to ravish his helpless captive.

Kathryn’s lungs seized, her eyes riveted to the primitive symbols marking his bronzed skin. The scything blades on one bicep, the Celtic knot on the other…Blessed Virgin! She’d never seen aught like them before. They made him seem completely pagan. Barbaric. He grinned and her heart stopped beating. She was suspended in time, unable to move, unable to breathe. Unable to think. She was in the grip of an arousal so intense, every part of her body was throbbing with uncontrollable lust.

Licking his lips, a gesture that had her hot juices flowing out onto the sheets, Rolf started to crawl up the mattress toward her, toward that swollen, dripping sweetness between her legs, pink and juicy and throbbing with need. He was grinning, a diabolically wicked grin that stole her breath away.

She tried to swallow but her mouth was as dry as dust. “Nicholas!” It was a squeak. A frantic cry for help. “This is going to kill me!” Rolf was still crawling up the bed, inexorably closing the distance between her old life and the ramifications of this terrifying new journey they were all embarking upon.

Nicholas was chuckling. “Only if ’tis possible to die of pleasure.” He paused. “Let him pleasure you, beloved,” Nicholas whispered in her ear. “Just lie in my arms and enjoy his mouth on you, while I watch.”

“I cannot wait to taste that beautiful little cunt,” Rolf said in a rumbling growl, his glittering eyes still holding her captive. “I have been dreaming of this since the moment I first laid eyes on thee, min skat. It has taken every ounce of discipline I’ve had not to put my hands on thee. And now I get to put my mouth on thee.” He grinned. “Life does not get any better.”
