Who is Carinn Tan?

I’m Carinn (pronounced ‘carerynn’, hence my social media handle) and I’m a proud Johorean. Most people would remember me as an extremely petite girl. I have been blogging about fashion and beauty at www.extraordinarinn.com for the past 3 years and am also currently working as a marketing executive.

What inspired you to start your blog?

Because I like to shop and I love fashion, I’ve had many friends asking me about where to get various pieces or seek my advice about beauty products to use. After a while, I thought, why not start a blog to reach out to more people then? In the meantime, I’ll also be able to try more new things and increase my experience.

What are some misconceptions you hear about bloggers?

That bloggers are “living it up” by getting paid to write or even getting free stuff. Nothing is free in this world, we work hard to maintain our blog. I actually think bloggers in general are quite multi-talented – they need to know a thing or two about makeup, fashion, photography, writing, design, HTML, video-editing, social media marketing and more!

Is it challenging to maintain your blog?

Admittedly, it was much easier when I was studying but now that I’m working full-time, it has been quite a challenge for me to balance my work-life, social life, sleep schedule and blogging. I’m still trying my best to sort out my time and keep all these things in check though!

On a scale of 1-10, how much of a shopaholic are you?

I would say, 9? I do shop a lot (mostly online lately) but in my defense, I usually go for budget but quality items. I’m always on the lookout for sales, bazaars and such!

Which are your favourite fashion brands?

I don’t have a particular brand that I love but off the top of my head, I would say Topshop and H&M. I don’t usually go for designer brands because I feel you can get replicas at more affordable prices most of the time. Topshop and H&M offers are more affordable and definitely still fashionable. Most importantly, they offer petite sizes for people like me!

What are the latest fashion trends that are most popular?

One of the latest trends is culottes and I can’t argue with that because it’s so versatile, minimalistic yet stylish at the same time. Trends change all the time but it is up to you to interpret each style and make it your own.

How is your daily beauty regime like?

Just the basic skincare steps like cleanse, tone & moisturize. For my daily makeup, I must at least have some foundation on and my eyebrows done before I head out the door. Oh yes, I also cannot live without sunblock, I make it a point to never leave the house without it!

Do you have any hobbies?

I love writing, taking photos, café-hopping, shopping and watching comedy sitcoms when I have the time.

Most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done and laugh at it now?

I guess that would be the time I went shopping for a baju kurung for an event… in the Kids’ section. I actually wrote about this story on my blog, you can read it here (http://bit.ly/carinnxinvisalign) if you want to. Not all’s bad though, because it got me an Invisalign contract in the end. 😛

What’s sexy to you?

Nothing is sexier than confidence. I admire people who are confident and take charge of their own life. Wear what you want, eat what you want, go wherever you want and forget what others say, it’s YOUR life after all.

Vivan Tng talks about fashion and food

Who is Vivian Tng?

Hellos. I’m Vivian, also known as xchubbykitty. I’m currently 22, a full time student studying for my Diploma in Accountancy, Singapore. I own a blog and mainly blog about beauty and fashion. I have a major fetish over Hello Kitty and even dreamt that I would be one of it someday. (Okay, I think I’m in my own fantasy world.) Oh, and I love taking pictures.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I guess I don’t really have a fixed fashion style for me, I wear clothes depending on my mood. If I was feeling lazy, I would just throw on a pair of hot shorts with an oversized tee and a platform and head out.

What fashion rules do you live by?

“If you wear it, be confident.”

Where do you usually shop?

Usually I would shop for my clothes at Scape or Bugis Street, if not for online blogshops, I usually get most of my stuff from Shop Princessa and sometimes Shop Sassy Dreams.

What’s the most expensive item you have splurged on?

I guess it is a Prada wallet? Is that counted…

Do you have the urge to critic someone’s dress style if you see that it is a fashion catastrophe?

Nope I will never criticize but I guess maybe gossip among my good friends, because I believe each and every one of us have different fashion styles, although I may not like the style but you will never know if it will go in trend someday and you will wear it somehow.

What is your beauty regime like?

I don’t think I have the perfect skin, nor complexion. But what I find is important is to always use the correct makeup remover/facewash. For me I have been a loyal fan of Biore. I just love their remover and facial foam. In addition I don’t put foundation unless on big occasions. Eyeliner and lip stick are my essentials.

Which cartoon character best represents you?

Not including Sanrio Characters, I think Blossom, from Powerpuff Girls. Because I think she is pretty bubbly.

What guilty indulgences do you have for food?

The funny thing about me is that I hate chocolate, but I love lava cake. Which I have no idea why. Not all though but majority.

Funniest thing you’ve done or experienced?

Funniest thing I have done I guess will be grabbing a stranger’s hand while entering into the MRT train, because it was during the peak period so I just grabbed the hand thinking it was my friend and my friend stood shock on the platform when I entered the train.

What’s sexy to you?

Sexy to me is not only base on appearance but also being connected to your soul, living boldly and having no boundaries.

Actress Cynthia Kuang shares the creepiest request from a male fan she has received

Who is Cynthia Kuang?

Hello! My name is Cynthia and I’m a freelance actress from Singapore. Acting has always been my passion and I hope to collaborate with film makers all over the world! My wish is to one day to be able to star in a movie directed by myself!

How long have you been blogging and what made you start?

I’ve been blogging since 2010 during secondary school. Back then, I didn’t do any advertorials and my blog was mainly on poetry and quotes. However no one knows it’s me because I listed myself as anonymous. What made me start writing was because of the stress I faced during secondary school.

Writing makes me feel a lot better and it helps channel away all the negativity.

You are part of an exciting project called Long Long Time Ago coming out in 2016, can you tell us more about it?

It’s a period film which is directed by director Jack Neo and it will be in cinemas during the 2016 Chinese New Year. Unfortunately I cannot reveal much about my role but there will be a lot of scenes that will be really relatable, especially if you have experienced ‘Kampong Life’. Do keep a lookout and I promise you will be blown away by how I look in the movie!

What is the best compliment you have received?

That I look better in real life then on screen/in pictures. I’m not sure if many will take that as a compliment but I choose to!

Where do you usually shop?

I don’t usually do much shopping because I don’t have much time so I do it online most of the time. 🙂

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

That I shall remain a secret but let me give you a hint, I’m in love with Fifty Shades Of Grey. 😉

What is your beauty regime like?

I am a pretty lazy person when it comes to pampering myself so my beauty regime is really simple. After cleansing and toning, I use PasJel Multifunctional cream as a moisturiser and then proceed on to doing my make up. As for make-up wise it’s really simple too. It’d be BB cream, followed by eyebrow pencil, mascara and eyeliner. And a light color lipstick depending on my mood.

Have you ever gotten any creepy requests and messages from male fans?

Yes! There was this person which left a really big impression. He wouldn’t stop pestering me on Facebook offering to buy my used underwear and socks. Conditions being that I have to wear them on for 3 days. LOL.

What can a guy do to impress you?

Men that do chivalrous acts really attracts me. Like pulling out the chairs, opening doors etc. I really hope chivalry is not dead.

Which is your favourite body part?

Everything. I love all parts of myself. 😉

What’s sexy to you?

Confidence. It’s not about looks and boobs all the time, and I feel that confidence alone plays a major part in being sexy. If a person is confident in the way they look, they give off this certain kind of aura which I find really hot.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I do not have any specific style, I just wear what I feel comfort and fashion. I have confidence enough to carry any outfits. I believe self confidence is always the best outfit.

What made you decide to start blogging?

I like to share my daily life, experience etc to my friends and family. And I found that blogging is one of the waya to share whenever and whatever I want with them.

Where do you usually shop?

I usually shop online, also, most of my clothing is from my own boutique Vodelle due to me getting it in bulks and I usually order an extra set for myself.

What’s the most expensive item you have splurged on?

The most expensive item I splurged on is a Michael Kors hand bag and I regretted since I can use the cash for my business. 😛

Name one fashion catastrophe which you have witnessed?

I once saw a person wearing a very earthly colour, which was the same for the top and bottom which contradicted his skin colour and made him look even more dull.

If you had the choice of any superpower, what will it be and why?

The power of the unlimited brain power like the one we see in “Limitless”..with it, I can read stock market graphs, understand more of the marketing tips and creative ideas to grow Vodelle into an international brand!

Which cartoon character best represents you?

I guess Madagascar Penguins as they are confident but with a silly action and happy go lucky attitude. Haha.

What guilty indulgences do you have for food?

I love Cheese, Bacon, Pepperoni Pizza, Egg Benedict, Tamago Mentai of Sushi Zanmai but I get very guilty afterwards.

Funniest thing you’ve done or experienced?

I got a summons once before by a police traffic for “sleeping in a car in the middle of road” while blocking active traffic. The crowd was shaking and shouting at me while I drooled away. So embarrassed!

What’s sexy to you?

I like muscular shoulders and six packs!

I am organizing the biggest fashion festival named Fashion Fiesta 4.0 in Penang on 5 & 6 December 2015 at Paragon, Penang (Festive Square).

We have invited artists, influences, performance to fulfill these two days activities. Everyone is welcomed to attend and it is free entry.

Blogger Chrysan Lee is one cool night owl

Hi Stranger!

I’m born with the name Chrysan, which very often people may think that it’s not real. Also, I’m only 148cm tall and am extremely proud to be a part of an awesome YouTube channel in Singapore. Wah!Banana! I blog sometimes and am pretty active on Instagram. Or so you can say, I’m jobless.

How long have you been blogging and what inspired you to start one?

I first started blogging when I was about 11 or 12? Because back then in the primary school that I was in, we had to learn how to use Blogger for a project. I started blogging ever since then and it’s like a diary to me. I have about 3-4 blogs till date and they are all private except for one that I still update which is open to the public now. The private ones are just…plain ridiculous. They range from long, as blog entries with VERY minimal pictures that look just like a boring essay with horrendous Singlish, to gaming shit and extremely private and emotional thoughts. A few of my friends have seen it and their reaction to it is..priceless!

Did you envisage your blog and yourself evolving to what it is today when you started?

ABSOLUTELY, absolutely, absolutely not. I blog such boring stuff and who knew you could make, receive or even learn something out of a blog so mundane and personal? Even having a few people wanting to read my blog at the start already came off as a surprise to me!

What makes you unique and different from other bloggers?

Okay. The thing is even though sometimes I do introduce myself as a blogger because I’m technically jobless and it works as a quick “excuse”, I do not consider myself as one. Because the truth is, I am definitely not established an recognised enough to be one. But if you ask me, I think…I’m just the “lupsup” one. Haha!

Who usually takes your photos?

OMG, ANYONE! Swear. Anyone who is free or cool to help can take pictures for me. Even a few days ago, a staff in a cafe did! If not most of the time, it’s just that few friends of mine that I hang out with.

Is there a particular fashion style you prefer or follow?

No. I suck at fashion. Really.

If you could join a reality show, which will it be?

You know the funny thing is, I don’t wanna join one. I actually really really want to have my own reality show instead! HAHAHA. Because I think I’d be funny. Okay, maybe not.

Are you more of a morning person or night owl?

Night owl. HANDS DOWN. You see me wake up in the evening or sleep at 11am and it’s not the least bit surprising to the people around me. Even if I try to stay awake for more than 24 hours just so I can sleep at the “right” time, I would still, for some reason sleep late. AGAIN. The cycle repeats! I blame it on having an active mind that only generates senseless thoughts at the weirdest things.

On a scale of 1-10, how much of a party girl are you?

It depends. But I can tell you it’s always either 1, or 15. Anything in between is worse than 1.

Funniest thing you’ve ever done or has happened to you?

Oh god…I cannot believe that the first thing that came up on my mind was showering with someone and then falling in front of them in the bathroom, NAKED. It was hilarious. Okay, that’s more like embarrassing. Hmm, funny..What’s funny..okay! I have one! There was once I was walking my sister’s German Shepard at Sentosa and I fell face down. The dog ran away. Alright, I guess I just have to admit that my life is nothing funny but full of embarrassing moments.

What’s the definition of sexy to you?

I love this question, I just have to share my point of view. If you’re talking about men, intelligence along with humour equals to sexy to me. Smart people are just naturally a hell lot sexier. HUGE plus point. Not book smart smart, but the creativity kind of smart. It turns me on. Hahaha!

Get fashion and style tips from NYC blogger Christina Lau

Who is Christina Lau?

I am a full-time fashion merchandising student and part-time style blogger with a bad case of the travel bug. I will be finishing up my degree in New York City this December and heading off into the real world of fashion and retail. My blog, Looks by Lau, is centered on personal style, but with a sense of everyday practicality mixed with snippets of my travels and lifestyle tips.

What is a typical day like for you?

Busy! I like to say I have three jobs – student, intern, and blogger. Most of my weekdays involve interning all day, attending night classes to finish up my degree, and preparing blog posts at night. The weekend is my time to shoot photos so I have them set for the following week.

Is it challenging to maintain your blog and keep it updated for your readers?

As a part-time blogger, it definitely gets challenging to make time for blogging on top of full-time school and work. Regardless, I don’t think I would ever give it up! Blogging has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life and gives me a creative outlet that is unique to me.

What’s the best thing that has happened for you so far?

In general, having the opportunity to do what I love. I am so grateful to have family and friends who continuously support my journey, from attending school for fashion to starting and maintaining a blog. All the best things that have happened to me have grown out of this support system, so it is really having the chance to go after my dreams that is continuously the greatest gift.

Three things you can’t live without in your wardrobe?

Leather jacket, black booties, felt panama hat.

How much of a foodie are you?

Lately, a huge foodie! I’ve slowly become that girl who will photograph every meal, and it has even led to some unexpected food-related blog collaborations. I almost wish I picked up on food blogging earlier. I mean, who doesn’t love free food?

Is there any cuisine you love more than any other?

Some of my favorites include Thai, French, and Japanese. It’s honestly difficult to choose a favorite because my family raised me to be open to anything when it comes to food.

Do you have any hobbies?

I like to say blogging is my hobby, because it really is what I do in most of my free time. Otherwise, I love hiking or any type of outdoor exploration in that regard, as well as trying new restaurants around the city!

If you had the chance to time travel, where will you go?

I know the typical answer for this would be a historical era, but my friends and I always talk about wishing we could time travel back to our semester abroad in Shanghai. It truly was one of the most amazing experiences of my life from being able to explore new cultures and travel freely, and my only regret is that I didn’t take advantage of it even more. I encourage anyone who has the means to travel, whether it is through a formal program or recreationally. It gives you an entirely new perspective on the world, and as cliché as it sounds, it allows you to discover yourself at the same time.

What’s your definition of sexy?

Confidence. The people I admire most are those who flaunt their unique personalities and encourage others to do the same. Sexiness comes from within.

Rachael Valentina – Model, event talent and talent judge

Hi all, I am Rachael and I am 19. I am currently still studying full-time in Sports Management. I am a part-time event talent and I have a blog where I blog about beauty and lifestyle. So if I am to briefly describe myself, I am an extrovert and open-minded human.

How did you start off as a model and event talent?

Being in the modelling/event industry is what I dreamt of as a kid. I started out in photoshoots since I was 12 as I helped my cousin out for a school project and when I was 17, I was given opportunities to be a photoshoot model for boutique shops, friends or photographers.

I then went into events when I saw a Facebook post on a group, and I got selected for the event job and that’s how I started as an event talent till now.

After a year or more being an event talent, I then proceeded to try out runway modelling and I am truly thankful for the opportunities given. I did runways for the Singapore Yacht Show in early March/May and also just did a recent runway walk for Carries Model. This is definitely one of my favorite parts of my job.

What do you enjoy most about blogging?

I really love to pen my thoughts down and blogging gives me an opportunity to. I have went to events such as The 2015 New Paper Face Finals, Miss Singapore 2015 and Miss Singapore Talent Judge and I think it is a beautiful thing to share with everyone my experiences!

What challenges do you face most when it comes to maintaining your blog?

One of the challenges I faced most is that I hardly have time to keep my blog updated weekly. I am always either studying or working most of the time, so whenever I have time at home, I will always try to blog.

As 2015 is drawing to a close, are there any memorable moments this year which you enjoyed particularly?

I have so many memorable moments this year (laughs). If I have to choose, that will definitely be the Miss Singapore Talent judging segment. Yes, you get that right, I was one of the judges for Miss Singapore 2015 Talent segment!

Other that that, every runway show I did is always close to my heart.

Which beauty products are you currently using?

It is not easy to say this but I am currently having an acne breakout so I am using doctor’s prescription of products.

If you had the choice of any superpower, what will it be and why?

Teleportation. I hate travelling places to places especially when I have more than 2 event jobs in a day!

Are you more likely to be partying on a Saturday night or chilling at home?

I personally love chilling around with my friends with a couple of drinks once in a month but other than that, I will most likely be at home!

Which are your favourite types of food?

THAI FOOD.

Funniest thing you’ve done or experienced?

This is a hard question because there’s so many funny moments in my life that I can’t even think which is the funniest. Hmmm, I guess one of them would be that I farted accidentally on my friend’s face at work once because he was squatting down to replenish the stocks and his reaction was priceless and all I did was laugh.

What’s the definition of sexy to you?

Being sexy is not about having big boobs or big butt. It is about how confident you are and how you feel about yourself. However, being over-confident is not sexy at all!

Hong Kong model and food blogger Shely Wong

Halo, I am Shely Wong from Hong Kong. I worked as a Freelance Model since 2009. Sometimes, I would do photo shoots, and be an escort girl at Music Shows. I would like to recommend the Casserole Rice from Temple Street because it is famous in Hong Kong. Moreover, it is a representative of Hong Kong traditional food.

Cool and Elegant.

Where do you usually buy your clothes from?

I usually shop online, but sometimes I was bought my clothes from H & M.

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

A black jacket which is fashionable and cool.

Cool.

What’s sexy to you?

I think sexy is a form of self-confidence. If you do anything with self-confidence, you will look smarter and more charming. And the people around you will find this more attractive.

Hi my name is Regina, I’m 20 this year and I’m from Singapore. I run an online store selling ladies apparels, accessories and shoes.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I’ll describe myself as versatile. I don’t have a particular exact style I follow because I love trying out new styles! I love wild and loud looking styles and at the same time I appreciate the feminine ladylike dresses too.

What’s the sexiest thing in your wardrobe?

It’ll be my crochet bralets that I have in black and white, they’re really sexy cause they are a little translucent that reveals the little lace details.

Are you more of an introvert or extrovert?

I’m more of an extrovert. I’m a pretty noisy person.

What’s one overrated fashion accessory?

I think to me it’ll be the neon bags/accessories period. I think it’s too overrated.

Give one example of a fashion disaster you have laid your eyes on.

I used to love pairing everything I wear with translucent stockings that tears every time when I wear it…. Could still remember how trendy it was in the past… looking back it’s really a fashion disaster, oh no 🙁

If you had the chance to learn anything in this world, what will it be?

I would want to have the skills of a lawyer. I really love how they could debate and really fight for their client with different evidences and theories to prove the case wrong.

Which movie character best represents you?

At the moment.. I think, AGNES from despicable me!! Her rollercoaster emotions and extreme excitement on things!

One fun fact about yourself not usually known?

I’m socially awkward. If I’m in a social event with too many people I have not met before, I’ll try to stay low at a corner alone. It’ll usually take me a while to get familiar with people.

Craziest thing you’ve done and not regret?

Entering the casino when I was 16 and made my own $100 there!

What’s sexy to you?

I am a beauty vlogger/creator/youtuber from Indonesia, and I am also a Founder of Indonesian Beauty Vlogger Community (check on : indobeautyvlogger.com) I love to create anything related to beauty, be it videos, being a makeup artist, making reviews, managing beauty community, etc. so these days I am being excitingly busy with the world of beauty!

Where did the inspiration to make YouTube videos come from?

I took the inspiration to start from many of beauty vloggers from the US, UK, and Australia since I have been their subscribers for years! And then I started my own channel until finally I could found my own style of creating a video.

How much time goes into the entire process of making a video?

It all depends on how intricate I want the videos to be. Sometimes if it is a simple video, it could only take 3 hours from writing down concepts to uploading, or if it is a very complicated video, it could take up to two weeks from writing down concepts to the publish date.

YouTubers are gaining in popularity and there are a lot of people trying their hand in making videos. What makes your videos unique and stand out differently from the rest?

What makes my videos unique is that each and everytime I upload a new video, the quality of the video is always better than the previous. I also have my own style of how to greet and say goodbye to the viewers. The other thing is then on how consistent I am uploading the videos. I have a fixed schedule of uploading, twice every week so that my subscribers can easily find my latest video during that day. Last but not least, I always try to interact with my viewers to give them at least 5 minutes of happiness twice a week (hehe).

What is the latest trend in beauty products and makeup currently?

The latest trend for makeup look in Asia is the Korean look with their puppy eyes, healthy skin and also ombre lips. It is very huge because of how easy the look is and also the look itself is suitable for day and night. As for the beauty products, I must say, eyebrow products! Having good brows for every girl is like the most important thing right now. It is almost like how important it is to own a little black dress, you girls MUST have at least one of it. So, by saying that, all of the beauty brands come out with many innovative, and awesome eyebrow products!

Which are your favourite products you can’t live without?

I must say, liquid eyeliner and my fave lip stick which is MAC MATTE MAUVE! The eyeliner helps my droopy eye have an “illusional” lift, while the lippie I could use for my lip and also as a blush! Both of them are always having a special place in my purse.

How is your skin care regime like to looking so fabulous?

Oh! All of my friends always ask me this as they think my skin is so flawless and nice! I wasn’t even sure whats special from my skin care because I only use moisturizer religiously, and drink nothing else but pure water. (I never like the taste of coke, juice, syrup etc), and use only home made masks that I DIY myself. so maybe that is why I do have a nice looking skin. But, these days I try to incorporate more products such as serum, essence, day cream and night cream , and also eye cream to prevent early aging.

What tips can you give to someone who is planning a night out and going for the sexy and classy look?

Have fun, go crazy with your look! A night out should be a night for you to release your stress! So DON’T stress on how you look too much. Pamper yourself, even on your makeup session, take it as a time of zen. If you have relaxed yourself, then you could decide a super classy and sexy look for you. Be confident with it, as confident girls are the most sexy girls in the world!

If you had the chance to collaborate with anyone, who will it be?

I would love to collaborate with Zoella! She is such a nice person, the way she laughs is so pure that her happiness reflects to her videos!

Do you have any other hobbies?

I do love to draw and paint since I was little! It is always my gateaway from my busy schedule. I love how relaxing it makes me feel and also becomes an outlet for my creativity.

What’s your definition of sexy?

My definition of sexy is NOT by using a tight fit or minimal clothings. My definition of sexy is to be confident with yourself, be happy, be cheerful, and speak out! People could feel the vibe you bring in, make them feel happy and spread your sexy vibe! 😉
