My Experiences From Sex Work

Sex is one of the fundamental elements to the human experience; it is, without question, one of the most intimate and vital aspects of life. The idea of “sex work” is not new, it has been called “the world’s oldest profession” and not without cause. Sex has been utilised as a service and commodity since biblical times.

Sexuality and the promise of sex has been used by advertisers to pitch sales for everything from vacuum cleaners to cheeseburgers and the trade of actual sex acts for compensation is really no more a moral misstep than featuring a pretty model in a bikini laying across a shiny Corvette at a car show to interest buyers.

At the end of every argument, for or against sex work, remains the fact that it is a provided service and product for use and consumption just like any other in the free market. And it beats the hell out of a desk job!

I got started in sex work by answering an ad for “adult models.” I was already working in a gentlemen’s club, so the idea of expanding the arena of adult work was natural. I started nude modeling and soon began working as a Companion/Escort. I am now working in adult film.

The Experiences I’ve Enjoyed In Sex Work

What I find amazing about sex work is that there is always a unique aspect to each interaction. A laugh, a smile, a touch…never quite the same despite the fact that the physical acts tend to become “commonplace.” That is not meant to imply that the acts themselves are mechanical or unenjoyable, but only that there is only so much one can feature on a menu!

I have had a couple of experiences that were special, in a way, each unique to the client. I am a people-pleaser by nature and when I know I have been able to provide something enjoyable to a client I’m pleased, as well. One specific encounter was with an elderly gentleman who was a widower. For him, he enjoyed the company and conversation as much as the physical acts.

Worst Things That Can Happen To A Sex Worker

One of the worst things that can happen to a sex worker, indeed anyone, really, is assualt. It is a real danger in the realm of the adult industry. Workers do not always have additional security present and independent workers, even when stringently screening potential clients, are at risk because one never truly knows who might be on the other side of the door.

That is obviously a worst-case-scenario aspect of the work, but another downside is regular clients can often blur the line between professional provider and personal life. This is problematic on various levels. And as in any other job there is the occasional ” rude customer,” the ill-tempered malcontent who either complains, haggles or is just simply mean-spirited.

The upside to being a sex worker over a typical “employee”, however, is that sex workers can give someone the boot or just Black List them. The girl working a shift at the local coffee house or the customer service desk at a department store does not have that option.

Strange Requests I’ve Gotten

Most filming scenarios and client requests have been fairly standard (if there is such a thing in this industry), but I’ve had a few “off color” requests in the past. Foot fetish requests are nothing new, but one gentleman requested the exact shade of polish he wanted my toenails to be painted as well as the color of heels he wanted me to wear.

Another request was a general Dom/Sub scenario but the client wanted to berate me with names, etc. and have me repeat back to him what he said. It seemed awkward at first, but he enjoyed it. The worst request I ever received actually occurred in my private dating life and was, without doubt, the most uncomfortable and creepy request I’ve ever had. I will not go into grisly detail but divulge that the request involved a “stranger rape” type of scenario (he described a fully developed and detailed fantasy for me); needless to say, I drew my line firmly in the sand and the idea of dating this individual was immediately dismissed, as was he.

I am all for individuals playing out fantasies, exorcising a dark demon or two, but this situation raised flags for me and I couldn’t help but suspect that the line between role-play and reality was nearly invisible for this person.

How To Become Big In Porn

I love what I do and I love creating scenes for consumers of porn to explore their sexuality or simply get some kind of release. A lot of people can’t have sex for whatever reason, or don’t feel fully comfortable expressing their sexual fantasies to their partners, so I feel like porn can really help people with that.

Pros & Cons Of Being A Porn Star

I’d say the pros would be financial freedom, getting paid to have sex on camera is awesome (haha), getting to express myself in acting roles in adult feature films, getting to meet fans at the convention and attend the award shows to be recognized for all your hard work at the end of the year, etc.

The cons would probably be crazed fans, and the scrutiny that adult performers can face from the outside world, which is crazy, but all you can do is deal with it and try to change the stigma/people’s thoughts on porn and the people that work in the industry.

How I Started Into Porn

I actually found my old agent on Craigslist, which I wouldn’t recommend doing. Haha. I was lucky not to end up on 48 hours later. Over two years later though, I can say I’m doing great. If you’re a female and want to get started in the industry, I would HIGHLY recommend reaching out to porn girls on Twitter. Ask them what their experience is with their agents and porn and how much their lives have changed/how they like it. Finding a good agent is really important, several of them are all too excited to add you to the roster and make money off of you, but I cannot stress how important it is to find an agent that is the best fit for you.

And don’t sign anything longer than a year contract, if you even sign one at all. And if you DO, take pictures of it with your phone! That way you can always have the details of your contract. If you’re a male who wishes to get into the porn industry, I’d suggest contacting an agent then moving to LA or Miami if they say that they can get you work.

I was faced with a lot of competition, getting my name out there, gaining traction in the industry, gaining a following, etc.

I work really hard on my appearance, performance during the scene, and acting. I love acting and I always make sure to give 110% on set and check myself to have a stellar attitude, no matter what may be going on in my personal life. What It’s Like Being A Real Life Porn Star

It’s hard to say what and how I personally think about sex these days. A couple of years ago, before I started to work in the business, it was something really special for me and it still is somewhat special.

To be honest, for the past five years (and counting) I didn’t have sex as a private person, just for the job. It’s hard to remember how it feels to make love. I mean, having sex with somebody you really love and you have all these feelings and butterflies in your stomach is sensational, but after nine years of shooting movies, it’s hard to differentiate between Kitty, the pro, and Kathleen, the person.

When I may have sex with a partner again, it most definitely won’t be like it was before I started in porn. Since the physical aspect of a relationship isn’t important to me, it would be nice if it was good. But, hey, I get enough of that at work.

Currently I am completely focused on my career and so my private sex life is in second place. Or third? Fourth? It’s not important to me.

How Do You Stand Out From The Competition?

I always tried to stand out and think I still do from the crowd, be it with my looks or how I acted. I never thought of other performers as a competition (not in a dismissive way, just that I didn’t feel the need to compete) or felt any pressure.

I know what I can do. I know what I want. I know who I am and won’t ever conform to the masses or give in to the demand. I was and will always be a woman that goes her own way without asking others for help or advice. It wasn’t easy at times, but I never wanted to fit in or give the impression I needed help. But I think I did well for myself and on my own.

My look was always outstanding and I never wanted to look like other women. Unfortunately, others didn’t think like this, so now you have many tattooed and pierced performers with wild hairstyles. So I evolved my style and I look like this (with the bald head) for four years now. I am really happy with it (the girls here in Germany don’t dare to do this) and I won’t change anymore.

What Is A Typical Day On Set Like?

A typical day on set? Wow, my experiences might differ a lot from others.

The day usually starts really early for me and getting on location or just leave my bed when I shoot for my own site and use my apartment as the location (but I guess that isn’t that thrilling to read, so I continue with the pro shoots).

It’s really important for me to be the first person on location so that I have more time with the make up artist and get to know everybody else.

After my make up is done, the waiting game starts. Because no matter how great the schedule is planned in advance, there are always delays. And that is the moment I usually realize I could have stayed in bed for a couple of hours longer and still get everything done. LOL.

So around afternoon, I get called up for the softcore stuff. This means taking pictures for the cover with the male performer, posing a bit solo, you know the drill.

After that you wait some more and in the evening (a couple of hours after you thought you’d be on your way home already) finally your scene gets filmed. By this point I am usually pretty hungry, tired and questioning my career choice. Nah, not really, but you know what I mean.

My experience isn’t really representative, I bet other performers have it better. I really don’t hope worse.

Challenges Facing Porn Stars

A typical challenge for me as a pornstar on a daily basis that, no matter what you are doing, you always get reduced to your job. People think I am horny all the time and that I have no other interests apart from sex (and want to talk about it 24/7).

No guys, sorry, but my life has more to offer. Imagine that.

Those prejudices affect everyday interactions, too. I have experienced that women pull their boyfriends or husbands aside then they recognize me, because, of course I have nothing better to do than to grab her man and fuck his brains out.

Do any other jobs face these kind of problems? Do plumbers get asked about shit all the time? Or assume people that chefs only have cooking on their minds?

In the end you have to swallow your anger and disappointment, put a smile on and try not to get too affected by it. Even though it’s tough sometimes.

Advantages & Disadvantages Of Being A Female Porn Star

I already talked about the disadvantages in the last question.

The advantages are that you never run out of work. Let’s be honest: Female sell the porn, we are the reason the movies get bought. That’s why we get booked and why we get the money.

But the male performers are the unsung heroes of the industry. They have to get hard in front of a relatively large crowd, stay hard for hours and have to shoot a huge load on command.

I always thought we girls had the most exhausting part. I mean doing the reverse cowgirl is like doing squats for many reps while trying to look sexy, right?

Advice For Aspiring Porn Stars

I suggest you try it for yourself either at an amateur shoot or at home with a camera. That way you can see if you actually like to perform in front of camera.

If it’s your thing, do it. And do it fast.

A couple of years ago it was easier to get into the business and more importantly to stay in the business. Today it’s different thanks to the internet. It’s tough to get and stay on top, as there are always new people coming in and a new thing.

If you like sex, can deal with the downsides and have no other responsibilities, do it. In case you have a partner or more important, children, you should talk to them first. It is a burden on the people around you and it can tear relationships apart. In most cases, no matter what they say at first, most partners can’t handle seeing their significant other fucking others. And I don’t have kids but can’t imagine what they might face.

It’s really no fun to worry during the shoot if your partner is ok with the scene or if you’ll have an argument at home.

That’s all I can say as I was thrusted into the whole thing without any prior knowledge. Just be aware of people around you that are eager to push you as they either have not your best intentions in mind or have no clue what they are talking about.

How To Get Started Into Porn

Equipment Essentials For A Good Camming Experience

The best thing about getting into cam modeling is if you have a webcam and an internet connection, you’re good to go! You don’t need fancy equipment to make your stream look good. Just try to follow some basic rules of shot composition and you’ll look great!

For example, make sure your shot is well-lit. I’m not talking big Hollywood studio lights. At the very least, don’t make it look like you’re streaming from a hole in the ground. I recommend setting up your cam in front of a window. That soft, natural lighting is perfect for porn! I used to just gather all the lamps I could find in my apartment and put them all around my room and honestly, it didn’t look bad!

Next is audio. It’s usually the last thing people think about, but it really makes a difference.
