I’m not sure I can completely summarize what my personal views on sex are—just like, if you asked to list all the ways in which sex can impact our daily lives, I would probably find it equally difficult—since really, we are very sexual creatures and subconsciously or consciously, sex effects a lot of what we do. But I’ll give a few points.
First, I think human sexuality isn’t discussed enough in an open and honest manner in our society, especially when it comes to women. A good percentage of women are raised in a manner that either completely ignores the fact that they can experience sexual desire, or are raised to hide their sexual desire until well into a committed relationship. I don’t think this is healthy. As I said, I believe that our sexuality is an important part of our humanity, and therefore, I think we should be brought up learning how to have healthy, enjoyable, and fulfilling sex and should be taught how to communicate our needs and desires to our sexual partners.
More personally, I view sex as a way to share an enjoyable moment with another human being and to learn more about that person. Within that broad definition however, I also can view sex simply as a way to show off and feel power over my partner, a way to show my appreciation or trust for my partner, a way to challenge my physical ability or my boundaries, or just a way to be giving.
Why I Love Outdoor Sex
I absolutely love being in nature anyway, so being able to go outside and have sex in nature is just the icing on the cake for me. But really, there are a few things. First, there are so many different settings in nature in which you can have sex, and nature never is quite the same—the weather might be different, the sounds around you might be different, the seasons and plant life might be different. Having sex in different locations throughout your house, or even in different hotel rooms, isn’t nearly as unique.
Secondly, having sex in nature, especially if you get fully naked, is one of THE most natural and timeless things you can do. You can forget about modern technologies and responsibilities, and just think about how the first humans were probably having sex in quite the same manner eons ago. Then, finally, there is always a bit of a naughty risk factor—for no matter how private or secluded the location you chose to have sex might be, there’s usually a risk that some other person might just come wandering by out of nowhere and catch you and your partner having sex. That little bit of risk can turn me on A LOT.
Ideal Outdoor Sex Positions
The one sexual position that works in all outdoor settings is the standing doggie style position. The man can take the woman from behind and either bend her over and grab her hips while the woman plants her hands on the ground, or he can grab her arms and pull them behind her back as she stands to change up the position even more. As for other positions, however—it depends on context. When I’m in a forest setting, I always like to look around for any huge trees that may have fallen to provide opportunities for other positions and other angles. Just be creative!
As for things you should bring… If you are planning on having sex on a beach bring a big blanket to lay on—one that will be impenetrable to sand. If you plan on having sex in the woods, it’s probably not a bad idea to bring something to repel bugs—getting a ton of bug bites during sex really ruins the mood. And definitely bring water! The last thing you want is to have an enjoyable time getting all hot and sweaty during sex, just to end up super thirsty and without a drop of water.
Try Having Sex In A Tent!
Sex in a tent is a unique, fun experience—especially if you are having sex in a tent in a big campground filled with other people—which have been what all of my experiences of tent sex so far have been. The tent provides a bit more privacy, in that people shouldn’t actually be able to see your naked bodies having sex—at least if they stay at a reasonable distance. However, the fact that the only thing obscuring you from view is a thin layer of fabric, and the fact that you can hear everything perfectly just like that fabric wasn’t even there, makes it feel a bit like you ARE having out in the open for everyone to see. It’s as close as you can get to having sex outside with an audience of people watching, without the people actually getting to see the action.
How To Make It Comfy
Having comfortable tent sex is pretty similar to having comfortable sleep in a tent, with a bit of extra padding. When I am camping with a partner and decide to have tent sex, I usually take both of the sleeping pads that we have and stack them together and lay the sleeping bags and any blankets we have on top of that, to give us lots of cushioning if we want to do a variation of the missionary position. If you have an air mattress, you probably are already set to have comfortable tent sex without anything special.
Tips For Your First Time Outdoors
If you are shy about having outdoor sex, I urge you to find a place where you are as certain as possible that you can have complete privacy without interruption. Basically, find a private property somewhere that is either owned by an open-minded friend who will let you use it for sex, or find a rental property that you can rent for a day or two just to have a little fun outdoor sex. Honestly, I think outdoor sex really should be on everyone’s bucket list—and in multiple locations too. It’s just too good not to experience.
