It’s hard to say what and how I personally think about sex these days. A couple of years ago, before I started to work in the business, it was something really special for me and it still is somewhat special.
To be honest, for the past five years (and counting) I didn’t have sex as a private person, just for the job. It’s hard to remember how it feels to make love. I mean, having sex with somebody you really love and you have all these feelings and butterflies in your stomach is sensational, but after nine years of shooting movies, it’s hard to differentiate between Kitty, the pro, and Kathleen, the person.
When I may have sex with a partner again, it most definitely won’t be like it was before I started in porn. Since the physical aspect of a relationship isn’t important to me, it would be nice if it was good. But, hey, I get enough of that at work.
Currently I am completely focused on my career and so my private sex life is in second place. Or third? Fourth? It’s not important to me.
How Do You Stand Out From The Competition?
I always tried to stand out and think I still do from the crowd, be it with my looks or how I acted. I never thought of other performers as a competition (not in a dismissive way, just that I didn’t feel the need to compete) or felt any pressure.
I know what I can do. I know what I want. I know who I am and won’t ever conform to the masses or give in to the demand. I was and will always be a woman that goes her own way without asking others for help or advice. It wasn’t easy at times, but I never wanted to fit in or give the impression I needed help. But I think I did well for myself and on my own.
My look was always outstanding and I never wanted to look like other women. Unfortunately, others didn’t think like this, so now you have many tattooed and pierced performers with wild hairstyles. So I evolved my style and I look like this (with the bald head) for four years now. I am really happy with it (the girls here in Germany don’t dare to do this) and I won’t change anymore.
What Is A Typical Day On Set Like?
A typical day on set? Wow, my experiences might differ a lot from others.
The day usually starts really early for me and getting on location or just leave my bed when I shoot for my own site and use my apartment as the location (but I guess that isn’t that thrilling to read, so I continue with the pro shoots).
It’s really important for me to be the first person on location so that I have more time with the make up artist and get to know everybody else.
After my make up is done, the waiting game starts. Because no matter how great the schedule is planned in advance, there are always delays. And that is the moment I usually realize I could have stayed in bed for a couple of hours longer and still get everything done. LOL.
So around afternoon, I get called up for the softcore stuff. This means taking pictures for the cover with the male performer, posing a bit solo, you know the drill.
After that you wait some more and in the evening (a couple of hours after you thought you’d be on your way home already) finally your scene gets filmed. By this point I am usually pretty hungry, tired and questioning my career choice. Nah, not really, but you know what I mean.
My experience isn’t really representative, I bet other performers have it better. I really don’t hope worse.
Challenges Facing Porn Stars
A typical challenge for me as a pornstar on a daily basis that, no matter what you are doing, you always get reduced to your job. People think I am horny all the time and that I have no other interests apart from sex (and want to talk about it 24/7).
No guys, sorry, but my life has more to offer. Imagine that.
Those prejudices affect everyday interactions, too. I have experienced that women pull their boyfriends or husbands aside then they recognize me, because, of course I have nothing better to do than to grab her man and fuck his brains out.
Do any other jobs face these kind of problems? Do plumbers get asked about shit all the time? Or assume people that chefs only have cooking on their minds?
In the end you have to swallow your anger and disappointment, put a smile on and try not to get too affected by it. Even though it’s tough sometimes.
Advantages & Disadvantages Of Being A Female Porn Star
I already talked about the disadvantages in the last question.
The advantages are that you never run out of work. Let’s be honest: Female sell the porn, we are the reason the movies get bought. That’s why we get booked and why we get the money.
But the male performers are the unsung heroes of the industry. They have to get hard in front of a relatively large crowd, stay hard for hours and have to shoot a huge load on command.
I always thought we girls had the most exhausting part. I mean doing the reverse cowgirl is like doing squats for many reps while trying to look sexy, right?
But I had my first pegging scene and wow, that really got to me. I have now much more respect for the guys who do this with their dick for hours.
So yeah, women get the fame and the money, but the guys have the work.
Advice For Aspiring Porn Stars
I suggest you try it for yourself either at an amateur shoot or at home with a camera. That way you can see if you actually like to perform in front of camera.
If it’s your thing, do it. And do it fast.
A couple of years ago it was easier to get into the business and more importantly to stay in the business. Today it’s different thanks to the internet. It’s tough to get and stay on top, as there are always new people coming in and a new thing.
If you like sex, can deal with the downsides and have no other responsibilities, do it. In case you have a partner or more important, children, you should talk to them first. It is a burden on the people around you and it can tear relationships apart. In most cases, no matter what they say at first, most partners can’t handle seeing their significant other fucking others. And I don’t have kids but can’t imagine what they might face.
It’s really no fun to worry during the shoot if your partner is ok with the scene or if you’ll have an argument at home.
That’s all I can say as I was thrusted into the whole thing without any prior knowledge. Just be aware of people around you that are eager to push you as they either have not your best intentions in mind or have no clue what they are talking about.
