DJ & Producer Skellytn

My journey started at the age of 16 when I heard Skrillex’s first EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites while in school. I went home and googled ‘how does Skrillex make his music?’ The rest is history. I have been DJing and producing ever since.

Has music always been a huge part of your life since you were a child?

Yes, I grew up listening to a wide variety of music from pop, to rock, to hip-hop. I was raised on bands like System of a Down, Rush, and Disturbed. I also listened to a lot of Lady Gaga, Kid Cudi, and Florence and the Machine. Electronic music didn’t come into the picture until much later in life, and I still continue to listen to a wide variety of music in my spare time.

What is the best compliment you have received?

When people tell me that they enjoy listening to my music, or that my music has gotten them through a hard time in their life. Helping people through music is the reason why I do music.

If you could collaborate with anyone past or present, who will it be?

Dion Timmer, hands down. He’s my biggest inspiration when it comes to my music.

Do you have any other hobbies or interests?

Music takes up the majority of my time. I enjoy a video game from time to time, as well as going to Disneyland.

Have you been in an embarrassing situation before that is funny when you look back now?

Nope. I think embarrassing moments are just that, super embarrassing!

What do you not get about guys?

I don’t get why most guys are not better communicators. There are so many occasions where I will find out about something months later from a guy that should have been said in the moment.

Sexy to me is confidence, and owning who you are. I think intelligence is also sexy.

Thai DJ Patty From Bangkok

Today’s interview is with DJ Patty, born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand. Find out more about her and read her answers to the questions below!

How did you become a DJ?

Growing up I always remember coming home from school and would blast out my CD player and have MTV turned on. The first CDs I ever bought were Tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. album and Usher’s Confessions. I fell in love with the culture of Hip-Hop/R&B and it has become my taste of music since.

During my 4^th year of university, my roommate was like “hey, I saw you always downloading music on Soundcloud all day (oh man I miss the 2013 era Soundcloud), why don’t you take a DJ course?” I was like, “why not?!” And that was where it all began.

I always knew that I got love and passion for music and DJ-ing allows me to express my craft to a wider audience. Seeing people dancing to my selections is the best feeling.

What types of music are you into?

I fell in love with Hip-Hop and its culture. I’d play edits of Aaliyah, Missy Elliott to The Internet, Goldlink, Kaytranada and Jarreau Vandal. I also like Kendrick, Anderson Paak, A$AP Rocky, and Drake a lot.

Which are the best clubs and places to party at in Bangkok currently?

Oh you gotta come to BEAM and DND. T-Rex is my fav after party spot.

Do you have any other hobbies and interests?

Practicing yoga and reading personal development books. Motivational quotes and stories help me push beyond limiting beliefs and open up all possibilities to new opportunity. It’s true when one door closes another opens.

Is there any food or drink you don’t take?

I love fooood. Thai food everyday! We have delicious seafood here. Curry is a no no for me.

If you can have a super power, what will it be?

To teleport!

What turns you off on a date?

Cocky men who don’t stop talking about themselves haha.

International Female DJ Vellatrix

As a DJ, I am able to share my emotions with the crowd through mixing music. Seeing the audience having fun and dancing to my music makes me unbelievably happy.

Do you have a beauty regime to looking so fabulous?

Yes! I’m a HUGE beauty junkie and I have loads of beauty products. These are the current products I’m using listed in order for my night-time routine. I start by removing my make up with Biotherm’s micellar water, then proceed to wash my face with SKII”s face wash, followed by an SKII Toner, La Mer’s The Lotion, and a hydrating serum from Dior (HydraLife Aqua Serum), La Mer Eye Concentrate, La Mer moisturising soft cream, and lastly a facial oil from L’Occitane (Youth Divine Oil). I also use SKII’s facial mask twice a week, and go for hydra-facials/ laser facials once a month!

Are there any guilty pleasures you for food that you can’t live without?

Yes! My world would not be complete without CHOCOLATE. I love eating chocolate and I eat it almost everyday!

Have you ever felt nervous before a performance?

I always get jittery before my gigs even up till date! I’m guessing I may have an anxiety problem.

Where is your dream holiday destination?

Maldives

If you could have a super power, what will it be?

I wish I could teleport to any place in the world 🙂

How often do you get guys coming up to you to get to know you?

Once in awhile! I also receive a lot of DM’s on my Instagram from random guys… *awkward*

To me, being sexy is all about class. Class has nothing to do with the price tag on your outfit. Class is about the dignity you carry yourself with and the level of respect you show to those around you. Intelligence is sexy too! Being able to speak eloquently and hold deep, intellectual conversations will always trump shallow beauty in the long run 😉

I’m a musician and DJ living in NYC’s historic Lower East Side.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

Touring the world for music. And getting my cat to play fetch.

How did your passion in music begin?

I found music in my mid twenties. It became my best friend, therapy, lover. Now I get to play in front of audiences surrounded by my best friends on stage with me. I’m also very fortunate to have discovered my love for DJing. I love seeing a room come alive when I put their favorite songs on!

Where do you and your band get inspiration from?

NYC. Late nights. Lost friends. Puppy love.

If you could collaborate with anyone past or present, who will it be?

I’d love to make a record with Ryan Adams.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but have yet to find the time?

I’d like to be able to read all the great books sitting around my apartment.

LA Music Producer & DJ, Marzia D’orlando

Hi guys! Thank you for having me. I was born and raised in Milan. I’m a DJ and a music producer and I moved to LA about 6 years ago. I started DJ-ing in 2008. I like traveling, exercising, going to amusement parks and hanging with friends. But mostly you can find me in the studio making my own beats.

Where and when did your inspiration for music start from?

My passion for music definitely started on my teenage years when I was a GoGo dancer. I was always around great DJs and music. I remember I was so passionate about it that I started making CDs for all my friends, but it was in 2008 that I decided that I wanted to be a DJ myself after watching “Berlin Callin”, a documentary about the life of DJ Paul Kalkbrenner, who is my favorite DJ and guru indeed.

What other hobbies do you have?

I love spinning, boot camps, cooking and shopping.

How is your fashion style like?

Definitely trend driven. I love to follow fashion and play dress up. I have an expensive taste for shoes, Louboutins are my favorite. I’m also obsessed with sportswear (Nike and Adidas are my favs) and lingerie. Love taking pictures of myself with some agent provocateur on.

If you could collaborate with anyone past or present, who will it be?

There’s so many artistes I admire but my favorite from the present are Moby, Daft Punk, The Weekend and Lana del Ray. It would be amazing making a song with all of them. From the past, my favorite is Bob Marley. He was a poet and a genius, his songs will always be legendary.

Which is your favorite drink?

I love apple Martinis and smoothies, I can’t live without it.

What is the sexiest item in your wardrobe?

Everything in my wardrobe is sexy. I love to show some skin, which recently put me in trouble. I was fired from being too sexy at a show!

Which is the lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?

I have a large following on social media, so sometimes guys send pictures of their junk, not only lame…it’s also disgusting. If you are a guy and you are reading this…it’s not too late to stop being lame!

Dancer, Fitness Instructor & DJ Jacinda Webb

Hi Jacinda it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hello everyone! I’m Jacinda, similar to Jacintha but ends with “da”. I have been asked countless times, “Where are you from?” and I honestly can’t answer in one word! So here it goes! I’m mixed British and Chinese, born in New Zealand but living in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with a Greek name. Currently loving life as a full time dancer, fitness instructor and DJ.

How will you describe your fashion style?

On most days, I’m in my sportswear and sneakers. I do take a lot of time selecting and finding pieces you can’t find locally, just so that I don’t look like everyone else. I do love dressing up and looking classy as well, which is a very different side of me! Fashion is a great way to express yourself and I do so for every occasion.

Which is the best compliment you have received?

Someone once told me, “You have a beautiful smile”, which was the sweetest! But you know, compliments come in many shapes and sizes. And because I like receiving compliments, I also like to give them too and make someone else’s day.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

There’s too many! I think one of the proudest achievements would be getting into the finals of Astro Battleground back in 2011. Astro Battleground is one of the biggest dance competitions on TV and I had an amazing experience joining with my all girl crew named Chique De Luxe. It was a real challenge juggling first year of Uni and long hours of rehearsals for a few months, but after all the blood, sweat and tears, it was such an achievement!

Which is the funniest thing you have witnessed or happened to you?

I took the courage to participant in a pageant three years ago and my main goal was to learn and experience the entire journey and not take things too seriously. Guess what! I won and represented Malaysia to compete in Hong Kong. What are the odds? Haha.

If you could change one thing about the world, what will it be?

That’s a tough one! Well, it’ll be great if the world can be free of bullying. It has been a hot topic lately and there have been so many cases in schools and even on social media. Looking different or acting different does not mean you should be treated differently. We need to spread more love and happiness!

Where is your dream holiday destination?

I love this question! I have so many on my list and it keeps getting longer! I was in one of my dream destinations – Santorini in October and it was beyond beautiful! I think next up will be either Iceland or New Zealand!

What is your worst date experience ever?

I think the worst was when this guy kept going on and on about himself and couldn’t keep his mouth shut throughout the night. It was irritating, exhausting and eventually boring!

Russian DJ & Producer, Eliza May

Hi Eliza! It is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from.

Thank you SimplySxy for reaching out to me. I’m a DJ and producer from Russia. I’ve been DJing about 7 years and I currently live in Los Angeles, CA.

How did the inspiration to be a DJ start?

I was into music from my childhood. I have been playing piano since the age of 5 and finished music school when I was 13 years old. During college, I was working at the University’s radio station and I saw an advertisement about DJ courses. I thought it was about radio DJing so decided to check it out. It turned out to be club DJing, but at that time I knew nothing about it and couldn’t tell one genre from another, so I decided to stay and learn as much as I could. And I liked it and started to work as a DJ shortly after finishing the courses.

I got into scratching and turntablism much later. I never really knew what it was until I saw a DJ scratching at the Delphic Games competition. I believe it was in 2012. That’s when I started to learn how to scratch and DJing became for me more than just a hobby.

What is your most memorable DJ experience?

Lots of my gigs are memorable for me cause all of them are about the connection with the crowd, taking them into the journey. It’s all about the exchange of energy. That’s a wonderful feeling when people come to you during or after your set to tell you how they enjoy the music you play. That is one of the reasons I’m doing it, I like to make people happy with my art and to help them have a good time.

Which is the best compliment you have received?

It’s always pleasant to hear compliments from other people. I can’t choose the best compliment I have ever received but I definitely like when people compliment not just my look but my skills and my work.

Is there a misconception about DJs that you commonly hear?

I think there is still a misconception about female DJs. Lots of people still don’t take girl DJs seriously and don’t expect them to have skills. But I think it’s getting better, with more and more talented females taking over the DJ world right now.

If you could be a cartoon character, who will you be?

I’m obsessed with Olaf from “Frozen” so I think that I would be one of the girls from the movie. And I think Elsa’s character matches mine much better than Anna’s and she is blonde too, so I’d be her!

How do you spend your free time?

I like to go to the beach or hike, explore whatever city I’m in, and spend time with my family. Although I spend most of my free time working on music.

What is the lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?

For me every attempt a guy makes when I’m at the gym is lame. Cause when I’m working out the last thing I want to do is to talk with strangers. I’m going to the gym to work on my goals, I’m very focused and don’t like any distractions.

I’m a female DJ based in Kuala Lumpur but was born and raised in the historical city of Malacca.

What do you enjoy most about being a DJ?

I’ve always love performing for people. And being a DJ allows me to play songs that I love and making the crowd enjoy the song as much as I do.

Is there any motto or quote you live by?

Step outside of your comfort zone and never stop growing as an individual.

What is the best compliment you have received?

I’ve received many compliments from fans or people that attend my shows telling me how much they enjoy the music. For me that is the best compliment a DJ can ever get.

Which is your proudest accomplishment so far?

I would say being able to enjoy what I do right now and making others enjoy themselves at the same time.

What kind of movies do you enjoy watching?

I love watching romantic movies filled with action scenes in it. I also love watching reality TV shows.

If you could change anything in this world, what will it be?

I would change the weather here in Malaysia. I’ve always loved the 4 seasons because I can’t stand the heat.

How will you describe an ideal date?

I love watching movies. So maybe an ideal date would be dinner first and a movie later.

Hi Ayyisha thank you for taking the time to answer our questions on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hi there! My name is Ayyisha Divya Woo. I am a DJ in the making, a certified makeup artist and a tattoo model. I was born in Singapore but my parents were originally from Malaysia, and I’m also of mixed heritage being Peranakan-Chindian! (Straits born Chinese + Chinese-Indian)

What do you enjoy doing during your free time?

As of now, I really really enjoy finding new music during my free time. After all, I am still going through my training to be a DJ! But on the norm, I enjoy watching the food channel, trying to find new recipes to try out! (Yes, I cook too!)

How much of a party animal are you?

On a scale of 1-10, I would give myself a 7. I’m not sure about what my friends would think tho! HAHA!

Which is the craziest thing you have done?

I do crazy things on a daily basis (No, really, not an exaggeration but it’s true) but the CRAZIEST to me in my whole recollection was when I was 6 years old on a trip to Mongolia. I mistook the Mongolian beer for Coca Cola as the color was the same and I drank it and got drunk. Shortly after our tour group had a trip to the sand dunes area to slide down a tall hill of sand, I stood up from my sled half drunk and rolled down the sand hill.

Do you have any other hobbies?

I am secretly a toy bunny collector! (OK so now it’s no longer a secret) but I freaking love toy bunnies so much.

If you had the chance to learn any skill, what will it be?

I wish to be able to learn how to perform magic. Whether real or just for stage purposes!

What do you find most attractive in the opposite sex?

I have a thing for tanned skinned males with facial hair, not a full beard tho, just the *janggut and misai! *(That’s Malay for goatee and mustache!)

One major turn off a guy can do in a date is?

Talking JUST about himself.

Being sexy means being confident. It isn’t solely just about how ones’ body or face looks.
