Hi Megan thank you for taking the time to answer our questions on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?
Hi SimplySxy, thank you for featuring me. My family is from Hong Kong and I migrated to Singapore with my parents when I was only about 3-4 years old. I consider myself as a very inquisitive person so there’s always something new that will interest or amuse me.
I’m pretty good in sports and was in netball throughout my schooling years before I went into dancing. My interest in performance arts and all things aesthetically beautiful started from the discovery of classical piano. Back then I dragged my mum into a music school in my neighbourhood and that’s when I realised that there were so many things that we can learn which schools don’t teach. Just few years ago, I picked up Japanese as my 4th language.
How did you get started into modelling?
At 16, I started to gain interest in Hip Hop, thanks to the movie Honey starring Jessica Alba and started learning street dance styles, starting from breaking, to old school hip hop and eventually I picked up dancehall reggae and waacking. To satisfy my desire to perform, I auditioned for Dreamwerkz when I entered SIM and started to look for opportunities to dance outside of the studio.
I started doing student performances and recitals and not getting paid a single cent, to doing paid gigs as a dancer for flashmobs, D&Ds for companies and backup dancing for singers. Although it wasn’t a lot, it opened up opportunities for me to know more people and that’s when I started modelling. Freelance modelling allows me to work and earn some extra cash while I was studying and it requires less time and effort spent on rehearsals compared to dancing so why not?
You have taken part in pageants, events and photoshoots. Which is one of the most memorable experiences for you?
I started modelling pretty late, in my 20s, compared to most models. The most memorable experience I have so far is the recent Miss Singapore International and Supranational 2016 organised by the Singapore Women’s Association. It was 3 months of intensive trainings and rehearsals which was challenging for me on top of juggling work and other commitments, so the girls formed a pretty strong bond being in this journey together.
The pageant had changed my perspective on what beauty pageants and community work are about. Also, my family didn’t attend the finals night when I was in Miss World Singapore previously so this time round, it was truly an unforgettable experience.
What is your secret to looking so beautiful?
Drink lots of water, about 2 to 3 litres every day and get enough sleep!
Which is the best compliment you have received?
That I have mesmerising eyes.
If you could be any cartoon character, which will you choose to be?
One punch man. So I’ll get to know how it feels to be invincible.
Which is the funniest pickup line or attempt a guy has tried to get to know you?
You Megan me wonder where I’ve been all my life.
What is something a guy should never do on a date?
Talking excessively about dates with other girls.
It’s a pleasure to feature you Megan. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
Attractive and confident.
