New York Artist Cecilia Leigh Howard

Thank you for having me, I’m an actress, writer, model and activist living in Brooklyn, New York.

How will you describe your fashion style and where do you shop from?

My style is usually a result of my mood, sometimes casual, sometimes more sleek, I play with colors, shapes and sizes to change my look with accent pieces.

What hobbies or favorite past times do you have?

I read often, mostly books or articles, yoga, meditation, hula hooping, dancing, singing and I’m a huge fan of TV/Film, always ready for a binge watching session.

On a scale of 1-10, how much of a risk taker are you?

Hmm, I think I take calculated risks, but most of my family would probably say a 10, I think like an 8.

Have you been in an embarrassing situation before that is funny now when looking back?

Haha! All the time, I’m a model and actress, we’re constantly put in looks or scenarios that we don’t find appealing, but it’s not really about you at the time, so it’s funny to see how our brains can change the situation for us through perception when it’s really just a hairstyle that I wouldn’t wear or a color I don’t think is flattering.

Is there something in this world you can’t get enough of?

Oh, definitely, clothes, food, music, movies, money or love, they seem to only expand one’s capacity to enjoy themselves and life itself.

If you could meet with anyone past or present, who will it be?

I’ve always wanted to meet Janis Joplin, her music is so soulful and she accomplished amazing things at a young age. I would ask her about my favorite songs and what Woodstock was really like.

What do you not get about guys?

Haha, this is a loaded question and I’ll keep it as simple as I can, I don’t understand why guys have this need to be liked by people they don’t like or feel so deeply that they need to impress strangers with their appearance or money. I believe it is for everyone, but men seem to be the most affected by it. It’s cool to like what you like and no one else has to agree. Stay strong, kings.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Cecilia. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Sexy is being comfortable in your own body, making others appreciate themselves and being able to know that appearances change, sexy is on the inside.

  • Blogger, YouTuber & Writer Shi Hui

Blogger, YouTuber & Writer Shi Hui

Hi! I am Shi Hui and I am from sunny Singapore and I am a blogger, YouTuber, writer and author of, ‘Speed Dating: The Story of Dating 10 Guys in 3 Months’. I also live stream gameplays on Twitch as Gaming Migraine from time to time.

How long have you been a blogger and what made you decide to start your website?

I started IreviewUread in 2012 while I was in studying for my diploma. With a forgiving curriculum, I decided to open a blog for me to review beauty products. Back then, my only idea of skincare products is pimple cream and moisturizer. I gathered various complimentary beauty samples and researched more about the subject before crafting the blog posts.

Soon, companies started to endorse IreviewUread and the blog have been running ever since.

What content do you usually love to share?

When I first started, I focused on beauty products and services. Over the years, my interests broaden and I started reviewing lifestyle products and creating DIY tutorials. These days, I seemed to be going back to the basics of learning about my skin for I am simply obsessed with skincare products at this new age (the mid-twenties).

Are there any life hacks you can’t live without?

Create a skincare routine that you look forward to doing every day. Not only will the future you thank you, but it creates this important ‘me-time’ for you to take care of yourself daily before you rush off and hustle.

If you could be a cartoon character for real, who will it be and why?

I always wanted to be Clover from Totally Spies for she gets to hang out with her friends, go on these shopping trips around the world and try out these amazing gadgets. Of course, there’s the ‘risk your life against bad guys’ part but let’s be optimistic.

However, the older I am, the more I see the light in being a lazy lasagna eating cat, Garfield.

Would you rather be able to teleport or read minds?

I would choose to teleport for that means I wouldn’t need to get on a plane to travel to another country. Being on a plane is not my favourite thing. I guess, all those plane crash movies must’ve gotten to me. Additionally, teleportation means I would never be late for anything ever again.

On the other hand, reading minds may seem cool but do you really want to know what other people think about you all the time?

Do you follow a strict beauty regime to look so fabulous?

I do my skincare routine every day, twice a day. I remove all my makeup before I sleep. A tip for makeup users is to always remove your makeup from your eyes or you’ll get a stye.

What is the funniest or lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?

I don’t normally have lame moments with people I just met but I do have the weirdest moment:

As a promoter back then, I encountered various unique individuals and one of them happens to be with another promoter.

At first, we chatted to pass time but after he ended his shift, he came over to find me to exchange numbers. Since I had a pleasant time working with him, I thought why not. However, his next move made me regret my decision.

He leaned towards me and tried to take a selfie of us together without my permission. I immediately stopped him and asked him what was he doing. He said he just wanted to take a photo to “remember this moment”.

Despite how creepy it sounded, I agreed to the photo for I merely wanted to get back to work.

After he left, he texted me telling me that he is a mutual friend. I then found out that he is in a relationship with my classmate’s good friend.

It made me question two things:

    1. Why did he hit on me if he is in a relationship?

    2. Was he sent as a spy?

Weirded out by the entire situation, I blocked him and never seen him again.

I spoke to my classmate after blocking him to realise that she barely remembers him and he has always come off as creepy to her.

With that experience, I learnt a valuable lesson: Stop giving out phone numbers to strangers.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Shi Hui. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I link sexy to confidence. It’s not just about how one dress or how one’s body looks. Instead, it is how you carry yourself and how you present yourself to the world. I believe that a confident person is the sexiest person.

  • UK Journalist & Editor Samantha Yardley

UK Journalist & Editor Samantha Yardley

Samantha Yardley is an internationally published writer and editor specializing in the fitness industry. Former sub-editor of Muscle & Fitness UK, Muscle & Fitness HERS UK and FLEX UK and current sub-editor of Muscle & Health she is on a mission to educate and inspire through the power of the written word.

SimplySxy catches up with Samantha to learn more about her fashion style, interests and beauty regime!

That is so kind, thank you for having me. I’m a journalist/ writer specialising in the fitness industry and the sub-editor of Muscle and Health.

How will you describe your fashion style and where do you draw inspiration from?

I love tight fitting clothes that show your figure but don’t reveal too much skin. In the daytime you’ll probably catch me looking casual in skinny jeans and a bodysuit with Timbos or Air Max 90s.

For nighttime, I like to make an effort with nude Loubs and a red or black dress; I’m really into cut out styles at the moment that show a little bit of the top of your midriff.

What is your beauty regime like and do you use any beauty products?

Pre-COVID, my beauty regime was dire, but I’ve started being much more vigilant and my skin is so much better for it. The lockdown-induced break from makeup has helped too. I use lots of beauty products at the moment; a weekly peel or facemask, cleanser, toner, moisturiser, eye cream. I have a cream for everything!

What hobbies or interests do you have?

My life pretty much consists of working and working out! I love to stretch and lift weights and food and cooking is my obsession. I’m really into food provenance, and shamefully, I’m one of those meal prepping Tupperware pests, ha!

Which 3 activities do you recommend to everyone who visits your city?

I’m based in the Midlands (UK). You have to visit Warwick Castle, if you’re ever in the area. It’s a sight to behold. For a leisurely wander, The Parade in Leamington Spa is beautiful and a lovely place to grab a coffee and people watch. For a bit of nature, Ryton Pools is my favourite.

If you could time travel, where will you love to go and witness?

Am I allowed to buy a lottery ticket in this scenario or take out some shares in Apple and Microsoft? Lol! Art deco has always appealed to me, it’s just so stylish. So, transport me into a scene from the Great Gasby please.

Would you rather invent a new gadget or discover a new species?

Easy one! 100% invent a new gadget. I would love to solve a problem for people and obviously… royalties.

What turns you off on a date?

My biggest turnoff of all time is unpolite people; manners cost nothing. If someone was rude to the waiter, I think I would want to escape from the bathroom!

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Samantha. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

That is my pleasure! Thank you so much.

Good question! I think confidence and positivity personifies “sexy”, I love pragmatism, ambition, and a good sense of humour. I gravitate towards an alpha. Superficially, I’m really into the sound of people’s voices and a good set of traps is my weakness, ha!

  • Blogger & Influencer Ashley Giov

    Blogger & Influencer Ashley Giov

Hi! My name is Ashley and I’m a Los Angeles-based blogger, but I’m originally from the Washington D.C. area. I cover fashion, plant-based food, travel, and lifestyle for my personal blog. I also write about sex and relationships for publications like VICE and Bustle.

What inspires your fashion style and where do you love to shop from?

I feel like anyone would be lying if they said they didn’t get inspired by Instagram these days. Even if you’re not looking for fashion inspo, it’s everywhere on my feed. I was going to the beach the other day and randomly was like, “Hey, I saw my friend @lexiejayy wear a bandana on her head and it looked cute, I’m going to try it.” I ended up wearing that style nearly every day when I was in Mexico last month.

Other than that, my style staples have always been kind of the same. I’ve loved cheetah print, leather, spikes, and high heels since I was a kid. In terms of shopping, ever since Dolls Kill got cancelled I’ve been struggling to find my favorite store. Believe it or not I don’t actually shop very often these days. I do rent clothing through FashionPass, which is one of my best purchases ever (you can read my full review of it here).

Do you have a lifestyle or fashion hack that you can’t live without?

I always keep a pair of sneakers in my car in case I decide I want to walk around after dinner or wherever and I’m wearing the wrong kind of footwear. When I was working in an office, my favorite “hack” was just throwing a plain black turtleneck or a white or black t-shirt under all my non-office appropriate clothing to make it work for the office. Plus, I could take it off after work if I was going out.

Which 3 things do you enjoy doing most in the city you live in?

I love going out to eat and trying new foods so much, and I’m lucky that LA has a ton of great plant-based spots, so that’s definitely number one (a recent fave is PSY Kitchen).

I also love just getting outside in some way—whether it’s laying out at a friend’s pool, taking a walk on the beach, or doing a quick hike up Runyon Canyon which is conveniently located in my backyard.

Third…maybe hitting a great house party. I don’t really drink, so bars aren’t really my vibe, but I like house parties because you get to meet new people and actually have real conversations without music blaring in your ear.

Are you more of a morning person or night owl?

I never know how to answer this question because I’m more of an in-between person. If I had it my way I’d wake up at 9 or 10 and go to sleep around 10 or 11 (I sleep A LOT). I definitely am more productive in the mornings though, I can’t get shit done once the sun goes down.

If you can have a super power, what will it be?

Probably teleportation. I like driving, so it’s not even about LA traffic, but imagine all the traveling you could do if you could skip those long-haul flights! I could also probably just get so much more done without all that commute time.

What kind of music are you into and do you have any favorite artists?

My best friend once said that my Spotify account sounded like it was shared by multiple people, so when I say “everything” I really mean everything! My favorite genre is probably alt pop with rap (specifically by women) coming in at a close second. I love Black Bear, the 1975, Arctic Monkeys, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Flo Milli.

What turns you off on a date?

Flakiness/tardiness/inability to plan. That’s definitely one of my biggest pet peeves with dating and social interactions in general. I’m a big planner and I’m a busy bitch (especially during non-COVID times), so if you can’t make a dinner reservation a week in advance, you’ll probably never see me.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Ashley. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I think sexiness is directly related to confidence. It’s not so much about how you look, but how you carry yourself and the confidence you exude.

  • Indie Actor & Writer, Kristina Monarc aka Prym

Indie Actor & Writer, Kristina Monarc aka Prym

I am a starting independent actor in the Philippines! I’m 20 years old by the way. I used to want to try modelling before but I’ve leaned on film and acting recently. My projects are also more increasing this quarantine.

My nickname is also Prym btw! (Pronounced as ‘Prime’.) My first name is Kristina Monarc haha and my last name is Cabral. But people just call me Prym 🙂

How will you describe your fashion style and what inspires it?

My fashion style, come to think of it, is inspired by a lot of movie characters. As an actor, I tend to dress up based on my mood: whether I feel like a Rachel Green, or a high school female soccer player haha with my oversized tees and long socks. Although most of the time, I like to put in a chic culture: cropped tops, off shoulders and tank tops, Nadine Lustre-inspired.

But in the long run, comfort is key – even how much I like v-necks to reveal my sternum tattoo, nothing beats the idea of comfortably walking in your pants knowingly you’re ready or not to show some skin that day. It always comes in moods.

Do you have any quotes or mottos you like to use in life?

I’ve lived with quotes pretty much my entire life haha. One is from Atticus, “I’d rather have a body full of scars and memories than a head filled with regrets and a perfect skin.

I feel like the more you push yourself away from your comfort zone, the more you’ll meet your better self: you have no idea what she’s capable of! Imagine if we did the things we wanted to do. Imagine if we lived a life of passion; what a beautiful world it would be, if people were honest, to each other and themselves, and if we all were self-aware and lived fulfilling lives.

One last thing I’ve read is from an entrepreneur book I forgot whose author was it. He said, “We must strive to be self-entrepreneurs, where we find a valuable spot in society that pays well.”

Is there something in life you can’t get enough of?

I love watching movies but I also like spontaneous times like when a friend visits and you go coffee shop-hopping or something. I love it when things go unplanned, and at the end of the day, there’s a good story worth to tell. Cinematic moments, I call them.

The things you can never repeat in real life, and felt that the only thing missing was a camera in front of you. As an actor and filmmaker, I see that coming a lot. It reminds me to cherish moments we’ll never have again.

Which 3 types of food do you enjoy eating most in the city you live in?

I love our sabaw food. Tinola, sinigang, lutong Kamatis. We Kapampangans pride ourselves for our cooking!

If you could change or improve one thing about the world, what will it be?

The environment. Make the coal house-making capitalists be more responsible. They’ve contributed so much in climate change, and making the most money. We normalize this abnormal heat and live on aircons – but what about those who cannot afford? And what future could our children possibly have?

Would you rather invent a new gadget or discover a new species?

Discover a new species definitely. Hopefully mermaids or anything Narnia-related 🙁

    Does chivalry still exist today?

Yes, it still does. But it’s often not recognized. Because sometimes the concept of what a good man is should be the norm. 🙁 such as, respecting a woman for saying no. But I believe in those things as well, that, as long as a man genuinely respects a woman, with no other intentions, then the ‘concept’ of ‘chivalry’ doesn’t have to exist because in the end it’s just a term.

One man shouldn’t feel obliged to do good, but do it out of the kindness of their hearts. And I’ve met so many good men in my lives, doing chivalrous things without asking anything in return. I’m lucky enough to have a partner in life like that.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Kristina. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

For me, sexy is when somebody just goes out there and relentlessly pursues their passion. Of course, physical is a bonus, but we all stay for the character.

And people tend to become beautiful when they start doing what they love: it’s in the way they talk or how they seemingly convince you on something.

  • Philippines Model & Writer Maddie Cruz

Philippines Model & Writer Maddie Cruz

I’m Maddie Cruz and I was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. I’m a diplomacy major, a writer, a plus size model and a body positivity advocate. Just like any other 20-something from my hometown, I’m just out here working my way around this whole adulting thing and trying to make it.

How will you describe your fashion style?

I would say it’s pretty unpredictable. On most days, you’d see me sporting an all-black ensemble. On other days, you’d see me wearing really loud or unmissable colors or prints. Sometimes, I go for that ‘off-duty’ look – leggings, a basic shirt and sneakers. Sometimes, I feel like going a little extra and I show up in make up, tons of accessories and heels. It really depends on how I’m feeling for that particular day.

Honestly, where I’m from, people still get a little shook whenever they see a plus sized woman feeling herself and just rocking that outfit unapologetically. And I guess, that’s the subliminal message I want to express with my fashion style – you’re free to wear whatever you want, never mind the stares, as long as it’s appropriate to the occasion and you’re not deliberately offending or hurting anybody.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

I’m going to try to make this as brief as possible: recently, at my school, they decided to hold a pageant that’s intended solely for plus size women. It’s the first time they ever came up with something like that and I won the title.

I think I consider it my proudest achievement so far because it’s able to encompass so many aspects of my life: having lived through abuse, rising above my body image issues, moving out at 19, working multiple jobs, battling with depression and anxiety, and so on.

It’s been a real struggle since I decided to go back to school. Winning that pageant just really put a lot of things into perspective. More so, it gave me a platform that enables me to speak to a larger audience about body positivity.

Which is the best compliment you have received?

There was this one time a follower messaged me on Instagram saying, “You were able to open my eyes to see things differently and now I see clearly that there are so many reasons to love life despite my size.”

It’s great when people compliment your style, your looks or even your achievements. But when someone, even just one person, tells you that what you do adds value to your life, that’s on a whole different level. Nothing compares to the kind of joy being able to help brings.

Is there any food or drink you can’t live without?

Milk tea, chicken wings, cheese and rice.

What hobbies and interests do you have?

I honestly think I’m a pretty boring person because all I ever do is go to school and TRY (emphasis on try) to get all the things on my to-do list done. I barely have time to fully commit to a hobby or sport.

I love dogs though. All of them. And history. And indoor cycling. I would rather do indoor cycling than go to a club.

If you can drop everything and go on a road trip, where will be your destination?

I’m not sure if this counts as a road trip as it involves riding a plane but if money wasn’t an object and time wasn’t an issue – I would go on a trip to London. I have always been an anglophile.

What do you not get about the opposite sex?

Whatever I don’t get about the men also applies to women. So yeah, nevermind. Lol! Haha.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Maddie. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I think being sexy goes beyond how you look or how much you weigh. To me, being sexy is all about how well you’re able to embrace yourself in a world that ceaselessly convinces you you’re never going to be enough. It’s possessing the type of energy that’s so contagious it doesn’t just draw people towards you – it uplifts them and inspires them to love life and be the best version of themselves.

  • Entrepreneur, Life Coach & Writer Iris Cherng

Entrepreneur, Life Coach & Writer Iris Cherng

Hey! Thanks so much for having me. I’m 25 years old, and I’m a female Founder, CEO, and Creative Director at Honey Belle, Inc. I’m also a life coach, real estate investor, and an aspiring writer. I started my first business (Honey Belle) in my kitchen in 2013, and that’s where my creative and entrepreneurial journey started. Our products are now sold in over 1000 stores nation-wide! I was born and raised in Southern California, and am predominantly in the Orange County and Greater Los Angeles area.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

It would have to be starting my own business, and having exponential growth. When I started the business in 2013, everyone had all their doubts! Friends chuckled, family members shrugged and laughed. In 2015, the year after I graduated college, I got really into these self-development classes, and that’s when I realized there was so much stopping me in achieving everything I dreamt and sought after. So, I quit my job in 2015 with my boyfriend Calvin and we never looked back. Our first year of business in 2016, we were able to generate a revenue of over 6 figures at $150K. The next year in 2017, we tripled our growth and generated $500K. Now, for 2018, we’re still growing and are working with larger retailers like Ulta, and are in discussion with Target, CVS, and WholeFoods.

Which is the best compliment you have received?

I was 14 years old. I was at Lawry’s Prime Rib with my family, and I had just stepped outside on the phone over an argument with my teen boyfriend. I came back into the restaurant a little flustered and teary-eyed, and a forty-something aged man stopped me and said, “You are so beautiful, and you will be accomplishing GREAT things in life.” He said this in the most sincere and inspiring and non-creepy way.. I will never forget how much he stumped me!

Where did the inspiration behind Honey Belle come from?

Like I mentioned earlier, I started this line of beauty products in my kitchen in 2013, when my mom and I realized that using commercially bought products had so many chemicals, to a point where it started amplifying our skin reactions and allergies. My mom (who’s a holistic herbalist doctor) had this sudden realization that she could make her own lotions out of her knowledge about herbs, and it inspired me to look further for natural alternatives and recipes. At the time, I was in my third year of college at University of California, Santa Barbara, and I realized that everything natural plus organic was suuuper out of my price range! Especially as a broke college student… so naturally… I started making my own!

Do you have any guilty indulgences for food?

Yes definitely! All types of food. Sweets like freshly-baked cookies, ice cream.. any type of artisanal chocolate… LOVE trying any and every type of chip (I’m a chip connoisseur). I also really like burritos. And french fries. Oh my god – yes. French fries. Yes…. That’s all I need in my life.

Would you rather be able to teleport or read minds?

I’d rather teleport without a doubt! I would love it if I could travel to any part of the world, and be in any place at any given time. With mind-reading, I’m not sure if I’m ready to hear alllllll of people’s thoughts……

If you could collaborate with anyone past or present, who will it be?

If I could collaborate with anyone, it would be Jessica Alba and the Honest Company! She’s such an inspiration, and she created an entire beauty line and brand from nothing! I would love to partner with her on an exclusive line, or even just to host an event together would be so amazing.

What is an ideal first date to you?

My ideal first date.. wow! I haven’t had a first date in 5 years… But.. we would have a nice dinner at a thoughtful restaurant, and we would share our meals family-style to be able to try all our food choices! Going somewhere lively yet private would be lovely. After dinner we’d grab ice cream and stroll the streets, and have engaging conversations about our ambitions, our fears, and anything to get to know each other really. We would end the night by getting late-night tacos, and just laugh the night away together..

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Iris. One question before we end, how do you define sexy?

Sexy, to me, is capturing the essence, beauty, and desire of being. It captures the physical, emotional, and mental ability to be confident in your actions, be courageous in your thoughts, and be self-expressed and communicative to people in the face of fear. It’s sexy to be smart, it’s sexy to be ambitious, and it’s sexy to want to make a difference in the world!

  • New York Musician, Writer & Stylist Randi Nichole Joan

New York Musician, Writer & Stylist Randi Nichole Joan

Thank you so much for having me! Well I’m Randi Joan, I’m a multi-media artist, musician, writer, and stylist from upstate New York! I am the live rhythm guitarist/keyboardist for Debris Of Titan (they just released a debut album and we have lots of EPs dropping left and right) and I run a vintage and Japanese inspired fashion blog.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

Wow, I think it still honestly has to be this national award I won in high school for photography. I tried very hard, taking a finished photo every day and submitted about 50 entries! I didn’t make it to finals the year before and it was my last chance. I made it though and teared up on stage. It made me realize I could do anything if I put my all in it and didn’t give up.

Which is the best compliment you have received?

When I’m complimented on something that can’t be replicated, that is unique to me. Usually if I’ve helped somebody, especially just by being myself. On my fashion blog I recently had somebody tell me my photos were a body-positive motivation as they struggled with an eating disorder. That blew me away.

Do you have any guilty pleasures or indulgences?

I’ve tried to turn my major one into something productive (referring to my blog). Haven’t been good at doing that with fried food though!

What is the funniest thing you have witnessed or happened to you?

I once fell down an upwards escalator, which was…as remarkable as it was, enduring.

If you could change one thing about the world, what will it be?

More empathy, less fear. That goes hand in hand with honesty. With yourself and to others. People deceive themselves all the time and when you hide from what you are or how you feel, or let those things rule your day to day life…we suffer. We act out. We hurt and oppress others. We lie. Even when we think it’s for the best or not a big deal. There’s no reflection or quiet time in this busy world.

Which genre of movies do you enjoy most?

Cinema is one of my favorite things ever so honestly, I’ll watch anything. I get a kick out of well directed movies. Where the cast has chemistry. The characters and writing have growth. The plot has depth. And the cinematography is interesting. Since I work with visual media, I really pay attention to highly stylized shots. Or just when you can tell it’s very intentional with its concept, if that’s something you tend to look for! Bonus points if the wardrobe and soundtrack are amazing.

Funniest or lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?

I suppose anyone who thought it’d be easy and quick, haha.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Randi. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I’d say sexy is all about being yourself and being it passionately. It has little to do with outer beauty. If you’re a soft and quiet sexy, or a bold and loud sexy, when you are comfortable in your mind and body you’re happier. Attraction is more mental than physical for me but everyone is different. I have to feel as if I’ve glimpsed your soul and that you can understand my own. Once that’s there, everything about you is a magnetic glow. Uniquely sexy.

When both our guards are down and the vulnerabilities can be understood, you’re easier to be around and I admire that confidence to just be completely yourself. Who you truly are, your thoughts and feelings and opinions, what you like and dislike, your ideas, your criticisms, your knowledge, past, and plans for the future. That’s what catches my attention because I love learning about people.

    Malaysian Model & Blogger, Yana

Hi Yana it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

I am a writer, blogger, designer, model and a dancer. I love to multitask basically, despite the fact that I get overwhelmed constantly. Hahaha I am a KL person through and through.

How will you describe your fashion style?

Very Kpop-ish. I basically got my ‘ fashion look’ when I was 18 because that was the time that I got to know of Hyuna and other Kpop idols. Before that I was just very ‘unripe’.

Which is the best compliment you have received?

“Your eyes could kill my soul over and over again, and I will still stare at it”

    Do you have any hobbies?

Would you believe me if I said all my professions are my hobby? Writing and dancing are my top favourite hobbies.

Which is the funniest thing you have witnessed or happened to you?

Trying to throw a joke at my sister. She wouldn’t even have to reply anything but I will be out of breath and in tears when I am trying to tell her the joke.

If you could change one thing about the world, what will it be?

Negative jealousy. There are way too many people who get easily jealous and they tend to try and sabotage others. It would be better if they were positively jealous so that it becomes their fuel to achieve their own dreams.

Where is your dream holiday destination?

    Japan.

What is your worst date experience ever?

There is none…hahaha I am probably lucky in this department.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Yana. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

When a person exudes an aura that is irresistible and gets onlookers to turn their heads. Regardless of whatever he/she is wearing.

  • Candace Ku’s Beautiful Food Creations

    Candace Ku’s Beautiful Food Creations

It is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy Candace.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hi everyone. I am Candace, and I am from Hong Kong. I am a mom of 2 girls. I quit my job after I delivered my elder daughter and worked as a full time mom for more than 10 years. Around 4 years ago, after my little one went to primary school, I started my career again. And now I am simply the slash generation of everybody mentioned, I am a mom / housewife / writer / cooking teacher / blogger / food artist.

How did your interest in cooking start?

I cooked since I was a little kid in primary school. I lived with my grandma when I was a kid, she was the only one who cooked for whole family. My family was quite big, in a small apartment, there lived my 3 aunts, 2 uncles, my mom, my sister, grandpa and me. You know, grandma is getting older and older, it was quite difficult for her to handle such big task. When there was no one able to help her, I came out and told grandma that I would be her side kick in kitchen. And so…I started my cooking at primary 4. I enjoy cooking, or you may say, I enjoy the lovely time in the kitchen with my grandma.

Where do you get your inspiration to have such beautiful food creations?

Thanks so much for your kindness. Mostly I got inspiration from my 2 daughters and their friends. As a full time mom, I am the only one who takes care my girls. I stay with them most of the time of a day, I know everything about what they like, and what is popular among kids. Sometimes, I just try to pick out some of their daily life, and make it with a famous cartoon characters, and turn them into food. For example, I made a sleeping Rilakkuma rice ball, with a piece of egg sheet as a blanket but it fell off Rilakkumra’s tummy. That’s exactly what I saw in the morning of my girl sleeping in her bed. It was quite funny. And I do really enjoy making all little daily things into edible creations.

Is there any food you will never eat?

Hm…actually I am not a food picky lady. I eat everything. If you really need me to mention one kind of food which I really avoid, I would pick food which are made of food coloring. No matter that is the beautiful decorated cookies, cupcakes or those Chinese colorful tangyuan. I just feel…they are so so so full of chemicals.

I used to make tangyuan once with food coloring, and I found once the food coloring left on your hand, it would be quite impossible to wash it off. Imagine what happened inside your tummy when you ate a load of food coloring food? I can only imagine a colorful inside part of the body…that’s so disgusting, right?

I did tell my daughters about the food coloring stories, and they are just same as me, feeling disgusted of all food which made of food coloring…

Do you have any other hobbies?

I like drawing too, but am not really good… When I have a free weekend at home, I would love to take out a piece of canvas and some paint brushes and start painting. I enjoy the time of being alone by myself, and concentrate on working out with color. That’s a very relaxed and chilled moment to myself.

If you could have a superpower, what will it be?

If I could get a superpower…I wish I could walk thru people, like what a ghost could do. XD. You know, I live in HK, even at the very downtown of HK. Once I get out of my home, there are already millions of people all around me. Some of them are tourists from China walking with big suitcases. It is really difficult to get your way among that big amount of people. Especially when you are in rush, you wanna walk fast, but sorry…there are thousands of people right in front of you blocking your way. So…I wish I can just walk thru them to save a lot of my time….

Have you done something embarrassing before that seems funny now?

well…I got a memory which always come up from my mind. I believe I would keep in my mind for my whole life…and it was rather embarrassed even now…

When I was kid, my family love to cut my hair short, very short. Not only like shoulder length short, but short like a boy, with only like 2-3cm hair left on my head. My family said it was much easy to handle, and kids dun need to care about the hair… I was really upset and hate my hair style for my whole childhood.

I remember one day when I was something like 6 or 7, the first 2 years of my primary school. On the day, I wore the set of PE uniform, something like a polo shirt and a pair of shorts. There were no differences between boy and girls’ PE uniform. At recess time, I went to the girls toilet as usual, but I was caught by a elder girl who was in senior primary class. She told everyone around her that she found a boy inside female washroom…there were some other senior kids said I was maybe a girl as my face looked so girly…it was so super embarrassing to a little kid like me. Anyway, I was saved by a teacher who told everybody that I was a girl.

What is a typical day like for you?

Wow, I wake up quite early everyday, at 5:30am! Hahah. Even if I woke up that early, but mornings are still so rushed to me, as I have to make 3 lunchboxes to my 2 daughters and my husband, together with their breakfast.

After sending them off to school and work, I will start my daily routine of housework. Then I will do some writings or food creation on the day so I don’t need to work outside of home. Unfortunately, I am quite busy on so called “out of the home” work, video shooting, teaching classes, events or some workshops…. But I still try my very best to make all the work done by 3 o’clock, that’s my 2 daughters finished school time. Then I will turn myself back as a full time mom…

After my girls go to bed at around 10pm, I will start my own work again… writing, research or reply emails. I worked till quite late like 12am. Yes…I dun sleep much, I sleep enough. But I do very enjoy my work. I love working. I am what people called a “Fxxking workaholic”.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Candace. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I believe ….Sexy comes with age. When I was a young girl, I always admired those a little bit mature ladies who were in their 30+. I thought they have kind of a woman charm which come with age and experience. They stand out with confidence, perfect posture and beautiful curve, and you know it could never able to find on a teenage or 20+ girl. At that time, I really wish I could be something like them one day…

And now, I am at the age of what I want to be. I dunno if people think I am sexy or not. But I still believe woman with confidence are pretty and sexy, and yes…I am ok sexy to my opinion. Hahaha…
