Tech Talks – 3 Tips to get started as a Cam Girl

This article may seem a bit more orientated to those who Cam often or are looking to cam more often but the essentials of setting up a room for your photos makes all public photos for you better as well as your selfies for your private or public life.

    Tip 1 – Lighting

Lighting Is the essential part of your set up, once you find your comfortable position, you must adjust your lighting.  Professional lights are not necessary, a nice light stand with multiple lights will offer you the best type of lighting.  You can also shoot in natural light, which depending on your theme, may be what you want.  However, do remember how your photos will look depending on the weather, but we’ll discuss natural vs lamp light at a later time.

    Chart A

As shown in chart A, your lighting setup should be almost the same depending on how you are shooting, dim light and other techniques get more complicated but will become easier as we go along. This stance is very neutral and more often used for camgirls, but for getting started in photos and videos, this is a good place to start as you branch out.

    Tip 2 – Background

After lighting, lets look at background. Consider yourself and whoever else in the foreground. If you’re looking for a more uniform shoot, then you should stick to the solid colours in your shoot room or location.  It is a good idea to avoid yellow because it often has a nauseating effect on people. While colours do have an importance, so too are your decorations.  If you are camming, it may be a good idea to get a chair or something to rest your butt on, and this also applies to any photos or videos taken while you are sitting down. Blankets, dividers, pillows, and fake or real plants can all be tied in the photoshoot or video.  Never forget how important your body is for the main decoration. What you have decorated your body with should fit your other decorations, or you can work with classing.  For someone with lots of black Gothic style tattoos who wants a frilly pink background and decor, no one will ever say you’re wrong.  If you have no body decorations, just insure your lighting is not overpowering your skin and over flushing your decorations.  Lightening your skin with light is also an option.  Different colours of light and types will have different effects so never fear fiddling around with light and learning what you like best.

    Tip 3 – Posing

Once your room is set up and you are the center of all your photos or videos, next comes your posing, now everyone’s aspect will cause them to pose differently and there are no guaranteed positions that will have you 100% perfect.  A general rule of thumb is if the camera is below your face and you’re looking down at it, this gives the viewer a submissive view to you, while the camera looking down on you gives you the submissive view. Positions will be looked at in depth later.  Again positions and lighting will be very much the same

When it all comes down to it, your shoot room isn’t what markets you but your personality and who you play to be, whether it be a Lovely Little or a Towering Dominatrix. Do what makes you comfortable, and again, these are just the basics and I’ll be willing to answer any and all questions and comments.

    Mandy Baby Shares Camming Tips

29SimplySxy: What are your personal tips for those new to camming?

Mandy Baby: To become at all successful in the world of camgirls and boys, you need to interact with your audience. Porn is already widely available for free on the internet. Camming is 10% performance and 90% interaction. Your followers/fans want to establish a relationship with you and you should want the same from them. I’ve become friends with my audience and co-performers. I miss them when they’re away and enjoy talking to them as much as I can. It helps to find things you have in common. Some of my most faithful followers share their daily lives with me and I with them. It’s not so much a “job” as it is a lifestyle. Quality is another key factor. You’ll want a decent camera and some good lighting. Make sure you’re groomed and clean! Most importantly—Be yourself. People can spot a fake a mile away. If you’re having to keep up with a made up persona, it’s just going to add more difficulty in becoming successful.

    1. Establish real relationships with your fans. They’ll love it as much as you will.
    2. Get a decent webcam and maybe a light or two. It’s 2014 and people expect good quality streaming.
    3. Take a shower. Nobody wants to see someone who doesn’t practice basic hygiene.
    4. Be yourself. If you can’t be yourself on cam then it’s probably not the thing for you.

SimplySxy: How does camming work when you’re in a relationship/married?

MandyBaby: It was difficult at first. Emotions definitely come into play when you are sharing yourself in an intimate way with the world. Communication is key. Sometimes people just aren’t comfortable with the idea of their loved one sharing themselves with others and that’s okay. If you’re partner isn’t comfortable at first perhaps explain to them the incentives that come along with camming. There are sexual incentives. My husband and I cam together almost on a daily basis and it has added an extra element of fun to our bed routine. We’ve explored each other more. We’ve tried out new things that others have suggested. We’ve had a lot of excitement brought to our bed through camming. There’s also the financial incentives that don’t hurt a bit 😉 Even though my husband was hesitant to the idea at first, it has definitely helped us in the long run. If you try it and one of you doesn’t like it, you can always stop! It’s a no obligation, no pressure deal!

    1. Be open and communicate with your partner.
    2. Explain the emotional, sexual, and financial incentives.
    3. Give it a shot. You can work together or solo and if you find that it’s not for you then just stop! Simple as that.
