    Aussie Porn Invasion

At the moment the fastest growing audience for porn is women. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise when you consider they’re the biggest group to be excluded (as viewers), be it by societal taboos, film content, or physical accessibility. The internet changed all that; easy access (no more trips to the XXX Shoppe), more content than you could ever need, and a new idea of anonymity that allows many taboos to be dropped. Mainstream producers have tried to cash-in on this new audience, and have succeeded to varying degrees, but women are one of the biggest viewers of amateur porn, and male directors and producers trying to cater to what they’ve been told are female fantasies are often missing the point – the subject matter may be more appealing to women, but it’s still filmed via the masculine eye; the camera still looks to the places men see as important or engaging during sex.

So if you’re sick of the same old formulaic porn, or just never got into the whole ‘slam, bam, thank-you ma’am’ thing, listen up. There’s a whole new wave of porn being made by women FOR women, and Australia is leading the charge. As a population, Australia is small. As a porn ‘industry’ we’re even smaller, thanks to many a Draconian law and the fact you must shoot in the ACT to avoid most illegalities. But here’s the thing: in recent years several of our filmmakers have won coveted awards at porn and erotica festivals the world over. We have huge amounts of talent within our tiny pool. Australia had an astounding representation at this year’s Feminist Porn Awards (FPA), with nominations in more than half the categories, and several winners. Gala Vanting won ‘Hottest Kink Film’; Ms Naughty and Blake took out ‘Best BDSM Scene’; Morgana Muses starred as ‘Heartthrob of the Year’. Zahra Stardust received an Honourable Mention; and Bright Desire was one of three websites to get an Honoured Mention for ‘adult website’, quite a feat considering how many are out there.

I was lucky enough to speak with Ms Naughty, Gala Vanting and Zahra Stardust on feminist porn, inspiration and what the future holds.

MisKnickers (MisK): How long have you been making films?

Gala Vanting (GV): For a decade now!

Ms Naughty (MsN): I’ve been creating and curating porn online since 2000 but I didn’t start making films until early 2009. I did a short course in filmmaking and just made it up as I went along.

Zahra Stardust (ZS): I’ve been working in the sex industry for ten years in various capacities. I started as a stripper and performed in my first porn scene in 2009. A few years ago I began collaborating with other performers and producers to make films that combine art, sex and politics.

    Ms Naughty
    Ms Naughty

MisK: Who or what have been your major film making influences?

MsN: I have always been inspired by the work of Candida Royalle. She and Annie Sprinkle are my ‘porny godmothers’ – they paved the way for us. I also admire Petra Joy and Erika Lust’s work; they both emphasise the female gaze and put a lot of effort into making their films look good. Ovidie is also brilliant. She has such a great sense of humour. Beyond that, I’ve gained a lot of inspiration from attending the Berlin Porn Film Festival – there are so many amazing ideas and clever filmmakers there, I always find it inspiring.

GV: Annie Sprinkle was also one of the major influences on my choice to start doing this work. But I’d say that creatively, Vincent Moon is my biggest influence – just on the way that I shoot and the processes of production.

ZS: Internationally I was always head over heels for Belladonna and the incredible things she did with her body on set. I love Madison Young’s blending of art and porn and her projects exploring sexuality, pregnancy and motherhood. I’ve been lucky enough to work with my idols Jiz Lee, April Flores and Courtney Trouble, and always admired the production ethics of Shine Louise Houston. Here in Australia I’ve been inspired by community-owned, queer, feminist porn like Slit Magazine and projects aiming to document sexualities, like Sensate Films’ Slow Porn Manifesto.

    Gala3
    Gala Vanting

MisK: How do you describe feminist porn, and did you start making it as a personal aesthetic or a social statement (or both!)?

MsN: The question of “what is feminist porn?” is a little bit like “how long is a piece of string?” There’s numerous discussions about how to define it; some say it’s not a genre but a movement, a group of like-minded individuals working towards change. Feminist porn creates space for the female gaze; it acknowledges that women want to look and want to be aroused. It understands that we do like looking at male bodies! It creates space for queer and trans representation, for a wider variety of body types and races and it allows room for men to be depicted as something other than robotic humping sex machines whose only goal is ejaculation.
Sex is such a huge subject, it’s so multifaceted and it’s a vital part of the human experience. Feminist porn isn’t just about arousal; it can be about emotion, about protest, about art. A feminist porn film can be sexy AND intellectual at the same time.

I started making my films for a number of reasons. One was purely commercial, but I also wanted to bring my own ideals and aesthetics to porn, to shoot stuff that you didn’t see often – a female point of view, an admiration of the male body, a focus on female pleasure and desire. I guess you could say it was a social statement: I wanted to show that porn could be better than it was – more sensual, less sexist, better looking, more realistic.

GV: Feminist porn is as diverse as feminism, and feminists. For me, it’s basically any porn whose production and presentation is influenced by a feminist ethic. Not everything that calls itself ‘feminist porn’ looks feminist to me, but there’s something about me that loves that debate and that diversity. For me it was a political project first and foremost. The aesthetics came later.

ZS: Feminist porn is a movement, genre, and ethic that affects everything from conceptualisation, production, marketing and consumption. As a movement the challenge is to think intersectionally about sexual politics and sexual rights relevant to those in our communities who are marginalised by criminal laws, over-policing, racism, ableism, and transphobia.

    2
    Zahra Stardust

MK: What inspires you to do this work?

GV: Sex. Intimacy. The people in my productions. My creative partner Aven Frey. And the response of the people who see our work.

MsN: I do it to earn a living, of course, but I also want to change the sexual and pornographic landscape. We’re still so backwards when it comes to sex and sexuality. The majority of porn isn’t really showing the beauty or diversity of our sex lives. So I want to expand the possibilities of how we depict sex and to make it into an artform. DH Lawrence once said that pornography was an attempt to insult sex, to do dirt on it. I want to lift it away from that, to show a positive, joyful vision of sex.

ZS: Outrage at injustice (over bans on g spot ejaculation, visible inner labia or fisting); wonder in exploring the thresholds of my body; pleasure in radical acts of intimacy and the creative process; and contributing to a community and body of work with broader significance.

    Ms Naughty
    Ms Naughty

MsK: Do you suffer from any social stigma regarding your work? Do you have to remain clandestine?

MsN: I do have to be careful who I tell because I live in a country town in a fairly religious area so I would imagine there would be people here who might take exception to my work. I’ve declined TV appearances because I don’t want to be recognised. At the same time, I recently spoke at a mainstream feminist conference and they were very welcoming.

GV: I choose to be pretty ‘out’ about what I do.  But of course it comes with stigma.  I’m also a sex worker, and pretty out about that.  I notice that porn shares some stigma with sex work, but also kinda has some of its own unique little pressures, because it’s a form of cultural production very visible to the mainstream, and about which everyone has an opinion.

ZS: Stigma and criminalisation are leading killers of sex workers around the world. People performing in and producing porn face institutional discrimination – in setting up bank accounts, obtaining billing, finding leases, getting other employment, and on social media and crowdfunding platforms. We then face individualised stigma on a daily basis that overwhelmingly shapes our lives and identities.

    Gala Vanting
    Gala Vanting

MisK: Is it difficult to get a film made in Australia?

GV: In a word, yes. And is very much influenced by your own personal resources, because most producers here work completely independently.

MsN: I’ve made one feature film and I financed that myself. Every scene I shoot for Bright Desire is self-funded. There is no ‘industry’ to speak of, just a few people doing their own thing. Some of us have done crowdfunding, but mainly we’re really DIY. We network to find talent and locations but it’s pretty low-key.

ZS: So much so that it is the topic of my PhD research!

MisK: How does our (Australian) industry compare to those overseas? Would you ever contemplate working offshore?

ZS: Because the Australian porn industry is so tiny, much of our work involves shooting overseas. There’s quite a bit of crossover – Australian films are represented at all major international porn film festivals and we contribute to international queer and feminist porn dialogues, texts and community.

MsN: We’re tiny compared to overseas. I’ve looked at the options for working in Berlin or the Netherlands. Europe is so much more open about sex and porn. I’m often jealous about how easy it is to shoot there; you can hire studios, advertise openly, there’s a lot more talent and people take you seriously. But I don’t know if the weather would agree with me.

GV: I do (contemplate working overseas). I don’t have much involvement in the mainstream industry, so I can’t make a point of comparison there. I work mostly in circles of queer people and artists, who are always struggling to produce their work and who are always generously working on one another’s productions.

    Ms Naughty
    Ms Naughty

MisK: Do you think porn is becoming more or less culturally relevant, and how does this affect your role as a filmmaker?

MsN: I think porn has become a very culturally relevant issue thanks to the internet. It’s ubiquitous and that is causing a lot of moral panic. I understand the concern that young people are encountering it online and using it as their sex education, especially when official sex ed is so lacking in real-world information about consent, pleasure, technique and relationships. Porn can be fun but it shouldn’t be sex education. That’s like watching a Hollywood car chase and using it as driving instruction. We absolutely need to be improving our sex education and helping young people to think critically about pornography.

I also understand the feminist concern with the gender and race politics on display in a lot of mainstream porn. There’s far too much sexism and negativity out there and not nearly enough diversity in how porn depicts sex. I can understand the worry that bad porn shapes the attitudes of the viewers but I think it’s something that needs to be properly researched. I’ve yet to see any peer reviewed conclusive evidence that porn is addictive or harmful.

All of this does affect my role as a filmmaker because I’m aware of the need to show an alternative vision: to bring the feminist, female perspective to porn; to show sensual, fun, pleasurable sex; to show diversity and equality.

GV: It is always culturally relevant. Its relevance and meaning changes with time and geography. This affects my role in the sense that I need my work to speak to some of the questions that diverse forms of sexual expression beg about our culture.

ZS: I think user generated porn is where it’s at. With new technologies, people are taking over the means of production and representing themselves. We’re seeing more collaboration, increased community ownership, and the democratisation of porn. It’s exciting.

    3
    Zahra Stardust

MisK: What projects do you have coming up?

MsN: I’m busy with updating my various sites. I have a few ideas for features, but I need to find the time to develop them. In the meantime, I’m going to offer my feature film The Fantasy Project as a wider release very soon.

GV: At the moment I’m collaborating with CLAUDE, the NSW women’s sexual health project, on a film about queer women and bloodplay. It’s very interesting to team up with the public health sector to make provocative media about sexuality, and I’d love to continue to work in this way.

ZS: In October I can’t wait to co-present Getting Our Hands Wet: Fisting and Ejaculation along with queer femmes Gala Vanting, Sadie Lune and Wendy Delorme at the Berlin Porn Film Festival. It’s a 4 hour workshop involving discussion, anatomical diagrams, film screenings and live explicit demonstration.

MisK: How can people access your work?

MsN: My main site is BrightDesire.com – that has all my videos. I write regularly about porn and feminism at MsNaughty.

Makeup artist and entrepreneur Linda Tran

Get makeup tips from the talented Linda Tran who runs her own business which provides makeup and professional hairstyle services as well as courses to learn the fundamentals to be a makeup artist. With her goal to make every individual look pretty for that special occasion, Linda manages to blend her skill and style to make it seem effortless.

Hi Linda, it’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with us a little about yourself and where you’re from?

I’m an Australian born Vietnamese. At 25 years of age, I’ve lived most my life in Sydney where I’ve established my own business, I MAKE IT.

How did your interest in beauty and makeup come from?

I’ve studied art from a young age and it has always been my favourite subject in school. I’ve always found art very therapeutic and as the years went on, I expanded that interest into anything beauty, fashion and design related.

As a make up artist, I find that each individual is a unique canvas, and it is the job of the artist to bring out their full potential in an art form.

    2

What prompted you to start your own business, I MAKE IT?

I couldn’t see my future as a retail make up artist. After gaining enough experience, I wanted to spread my wings and be my own boss. So I took a leap of faith and feel so blessed with all the support I’ve received. Without everyone, I couldn’t have came this far!

Can you describe a typical day of yours?

A typical working day will be around 12-16hrs. It’s not an easy day, but I must say it is a very rewarding day. I specialize in bridal/special occasions make up, so being a part of someones special day, just feels amazing.

Although it’s tiring, the hours, it doesn’t really feel like work. Just powering through a day of meeting lovely people, and making them feel that little bit more pretty.

    3

Does everyone look better with makeup?

Everyone can look better with the right amount of make up, and the correct application. We have to fully understand our facial features and our skin type to optimize results, otherwise it can go horribly wrong.

In saying this, I also love my no make up days. It’s important to have a balance and not feel the need to hide behind your make up. Make up is only art, an art of expression.

Can you share some essential makeup items every lady should not leave home without?

Moisturiser, spf preferred (it’ll benefit you in the long run)

Lip balm and eyebrows. Be it pencil, powder or whatever you like, but if you’re not blessed with full brows. Filling in your brows will really help shape your face.

I also like concealer to cover blemishes and to make me appear more ‘awake’, and some blush and highlight for that healthy glow.

    4

What makeup tips can you share to ladies who are very busy and do not have the time to spend too long on it?

People care about people who care about themselves.

Just take 10 minutes out of your day, whether it is waking up earlier or the need to multi task. Apply some moisturizer and lip balm, then conceal any dark circles or pigmentation you have (does wonders), quick mineral powder, blush, brows and mascara and you’ll feel so much more alive =)

Do you have a skin care routine which you follow?

I actually have really sensitive skin, so I try not to go too crazy with experimenting new things and stick to the basics. I find that’s what works for me.

I’ve been using Olay sensitive skin moisturizer since I was a teenager and still love it.

Being a make up artist, and wearing make up all day on most days, it’s important to cleanse my skin.

I remove my make up with Bioderma cleansing water, use my Clarisonic with a foaming cleanser and exfoliate with St Ives almond or apricot scrub 2-3 times a week.

I try to use toner and eye cream, but still on the hunt for one that I love.

    5

Thank you for taking your time to answer our questions on SimplySxy, Linda. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

To me, sexy means confidence. Sexy isn’t just about appearance, but the way you hold yourself and how you feel about yourself.

Being beautiful or being sexy isn’t a look, it’s a feeling. So long as you’re happy, you’ll appear to be the sexiest person.

I definitely feel inner beauty is much more important than outer beauty. We just have to keep in mind, that it’s the outer beauty that people usually notice first. So in this world in which we live in, we should respect ourselves and take pride, so in return people will respect us.

Renowned fashion blogger Chloe Ting is living her passion. Running her blog full time, Chloe works with various brands and celebrities around the world, giving her take on Australia’s fashion culture and appearing at top fashion events. Above all these, she also hosts her a series on YouTube to share fashion tips with her viewers. Find out more about this fashion inspiration to know her better in this short and fun interview.

Hi Chloe, it’s a great pleasure of ours to feature you on SimplySxy. Can you share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hey everyone! I’m Chloe and I’m a fashion blogger from Melbourne, Australia. Some little known facts about me are that I’m quite the nerd as I’m good with numbers as a financial analyst and I’m also pretty into video games.

    2

As a fashion inspiration, how will you describe your personal fashion style?

Looking back at my older blog posts, I find that my fashion style is always evolving, sometimes quite drastically. I think I enjoy trying out new things and challenging myself to take on different styles.

Please let us in on your beauty regime secrets to looking so gorgeous?

Everyone only has one layer of skin throughout their lifetime and they should take good care of it! I keep my skin moisturized and hydrated all the time, and keep myself well protected from the sun which can be very damaging if you’re outdoors often.

    3

What are some makeup products every lady should have?

A good foundation, eyebrow pencil and eyeliner. There are lots of lazy days where you want to dash out for a bit and you don’t always have to go full-on with your makeup. I use Jane Iredale foundation, Innisfree eyebrow pencil and Soap & Glory eyeliners.

Can you share some makeup tips with us?

Go easy on powder because it can create a very cake-y look.

    4

What are some items in your wardrobe which you can’t live without?

Definitely items from my accessories section and heels. During winter, accessories like beanies, scarfs can add so much to an outfit. Heels are something I can’t live without because I’m short!

    5

As a renowned fashion blogger and celebrity yourself, is there one person you very much like to meet but have yet to do so?

I’m abit of a couch potato and get into a lot of TV series and movies so I think I’ll be so happy if I ever meet characters in hit shows that I watch such as Game of Thrones, Hannibal, and etc. But yeah other than celebrities, I’d love to meet other fashion bloggers around the world whom I’ve only met virtually and it would be cool to meet them in person. I normally get along easily with fashion bloggers because we have quite a lot in common.

Tell us one fun fact about yourself which your fans might not know.

I’m really afraid of reptiles and lizards in particular. I normally will scream just at the sight of them. It’s all from a bad experience when I was young when lizards used to fall on me. My ceiling walls must have been slippery!

    6

Thank you very much for taking your time to answer our questions Chloe. One last question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Sexy to me is people who display strong traits of confidence, elegance and humour.

Go wild with Taiwanese model Akemi Luv

Akemi Luv is our babe of the day as we catch up and chat with her on her tattoos, lingerie and bad date experience.

SimplySxy:  Hi Akemi, it’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from.

Akemi: It is such an honour to be interviewed here and thank you for having me. Where should I start? I am actually just your typical every day girl next door. I am Taiwanese, part Mexican and born in Australia, living in Brisbane in Australia at the moment. I have a full time job at the moment so on my days off you will find me doing shoots for all sorts of projects as well as collaborating with street wear brands, brand promotion or catching up on some good sleep haha.

SimplySxy:  When did you begin modelling and where did the interest come from?

Akemi: My mum used to be a model back in the days so I guess I have some of her modelling genes. I have been modelling from an early age doing children’s runway on stage. I’ve stopped to focus in school and university but recently, these couple of years, I’ve been getting back into doing what I love along side my full time job. Modelling is a hobby for me now.

SimplySxy: Can you tell us 3 fun facts about yourself?

    Akemi:
    1. I looovvveeee burgers. Throw me a burger and I’ll be one happy girl haha. My favourite is a double cheeseburger with extra cheese and extra pickles and sriracha sauce.
    2. I love music and I love to dance. I used to work as a podium/GoGo dancer in clubs in Brisbane nights.
    3. Did I mention I am single? 😉

SimplySxy:  You have some amazing tattoos on you. Is there an interesting story you can share behind one of them?

Akemi: Why thank you!  I love tattoos! It’s such a beautiful way to express yourself which I consider as art. A couple weeks from now, I have been booked in for more ink. I cannot wait!

All my tattoos are meaningful. The most meaningful one is the piece I have on my left rib to thigh. It’s of a cross with roses and a dove all done in grey wash. It represents my dear grandpa who had passed away a couple years back and due to me being in Australia, I did not have the time to visit him and having this piece reminds and makes me feel he is close to me. I cannot wait to go back Taiwan in October to pay my respects.

SimplySxy:  What is the wildest thing you have ever done and am proud of it?

Akemi: I don’t think I’m ever not wild. Haha. You got to live your life to the fullest but I remember when I was not working full time, I used to book plane tickets the day before and just go the next day. I love traveling! I’m planning to travel to America next year! That will be wild ;D

SimplySxy:  How many types of lingerie do you have and which are your personal favourites?

Akemi: I have every style and colour you can think of haha. I recently took on a lot of glamour concept shoots so I have been collecting quite a few pieces lately. I probably have more lingerie than my normal clothes (oh dear). My favourites are lace ones and non under wire. In the end, I love anything comfortable.

SimplySxy:  Have you ever had a bad date experience?

Akemi: It’s been awhile since I’ve dated. Haha a busy schedule gets the better of me (though I like it) but I do remember one time when the opposite sex was unhygienic and just wasn’t clean on our date. That was the last time I saw him.

SimplySxy: Thank you for taking your time to answer our questions on SimplySxy, Akemi. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Akemi: To me sexy is someone who is smart, can speak their mind and knows when to speak up. Sexy is one who can stand up for their beliefs and goals. Sexy doesn’t always define ones’ appearance but it could be that feeling when that warmth of sun hits your skin. That could be sexy too! If you are feeling sexy then you are sexy! 😉

Thank you for having me! Look out for my future collabs and events and hopefully will be featuring more in America soon xx

Emily Bellerose from Australia is heating things up!

Things are heating up down under even though it is winter in Australia as we feature the sexy Emily Bellerose from Sydney. Enjoy reading Emily’s responses in this fun interview and admire her beauty at every angle in this hot feature!

SimplySxy: Hi Emily, it’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Emily: Hello! Aw it’s a pleasure for me to be featured on SimplySxy, so thank you! I’m very bad at introductions but my name is Emily Bellerose, I’m a huge animal lover (especially ducks) and I’m from Sydney, Australia. I’m nineteen but I look twenty-nine haha, and I am absolutely obsessed with puns!

    2

SimplySxy: Where did your interest in modelling come from and begin?

Emily: Growing up, I’ve always wanted to be something that was either in the entertainment business or someone who was in the spotlight. It went from wanting to be an actress, a singer and eventually a runway model.. until I realised that I was nowhere near meeting the height requirements. I decided to try out import modelling because it seemed so fun and confidence boosting and now I love it and hope that I can eventually model for a living!

SimplySxy: Can you tell us 3 fun facts about yourself?

Emily: Hmm, well this may seem a little odd and weird to a lot of people but I’m actually double jointed in my entire body! I can do weird things like body skips, rotate my hand 360 degrees and so much more. People get so grossed out though, but it’s fun to show off my wacky skill. As I mentioned before, I’m a huge animal lover and love ducks so much that I actually don’t eat them at all! Not to say I haven’t eaten them before but when I got to the age of around ten, I had a moment of realisation and just stopped eating them completely. And last but not least, my blood type is AB which is one of the rarest blood types, and the blood type with the weirdest personality apparently!

    4

SimplySxy: Do you have a fitness regime to staying in such fabulous shape?

Emily: Once upon a time, I used to hit the gym quite often but after my membership expired I’ve just been working out at home. I generally just do some squats and abdominal workouts but I do love vegetables so that keeps me quite healthy. Broccoli is my favourite!

    5

SimplySxy: What is the naughtiest thing you have ever done and not regret?

Emily: Haha! I’m very much a good girl so I don’t think I’ve done anything too naughty? Especially since I’m still only nineteen but in the past I’ve done silly things like get piercings behind my parent’s backs and then get kicked out of the house but nothing that a normal teen hasn’t done!

    6

SimplySxy: Have you experienced any bad pickup lines from guys before?

Emily: I’ve had occasions where guys have tried to convince me to eat with them or scare me by appearing out of nowhere but surprisingly no! I do know a funny anti-pickup line that actually happened though… Here in Sydney, our phone numbers begin with 04 so one time my friend witnessed a guy ask a girl for her number. She told him 042… Sexy for you, and just walked off! I’ve yet to try that haha!

    7

SimplySxy: Are you more of a lingerie or bikini girl?

Emily: I think I’m more of a lingerie girl because there are so many more styles of lingerie. Lingerie makes me feel more classy and fancy than a bikini does but there is always a time and a place for whatever it is you’re wearing and as long as you’re wearing it with confidence, then that’s all that matters.

    8

SimplySxy: Which is your favourite body part?

Emily: Legs!! You can never go wrong with a pair of long legs in a skirt, shorts and even a pair of jeans. I think a pair of legs are attractive in a more subtle way compared to a pair of boobs or a nice ass and that’s what makes them extra nice.

    9

SimplySxy: Thank you for taking your time to answer our questions on SimplySxy, Emily. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Emily: It was my pleasure! Many people define “sexy” in different ways but I don’t think sexy should be defined specifically to a certain look or body type. To me, “sexy” is to have confidence shine through and to have a lovable personality to go with it! “Sexy” shouldn’t be wearing revealing clothes or even lingerie because people can look “sexy” even covered up in the winter. So I think that to be sexy is to be someone with confidence and personality; looks are only a bonus!

  • Intro Sessions to BDSM – Are you ready to step into the world of BDSM?

Intro Sessions to BDSM – Are you ready to step into the world of BDSM?

Ever wondered how it will feel to submit yourself? Or if you’re unsure of what to ask for when contacting a dominatrix? Worry no further. Mistress Jadis is a professional dominatrix based in Sydney, Australia and has a wide variety of interests which includes Corporal Punishment, Cock & Ball Torture and Play Piercing. One of her specialties and favorite activities however, is Intro Sessions for new players. Conducting her sessions from one of the best equipped dungeons in Australia, we ask Mistress Jadis more about Intro Sessions and what new players should know before entering the world of BDSM.

Why is Intro Sessions one of your favorite activities?

I love intro sessions because I love intensity. While the level of play in many intro sessions is not heavy the intensity of the experience and the emotions involved often can be. For many subs that come to me for an intro session it’s their first step toward bringing what can often be years of fantasy into reality.

If one is curious about trying it out, how can they get started?

Think about what attracts you to this experience and what you’d like to get out of it. What activities are you keen to try? How do you want to feel? What are your limits?

I’d also recommend that new subs contemplating a first session do some research both into BDSM in general and in particular the activities that interest them. Quality consent is informed consent.

Your next step is finding a Professional Dominant to play with. Most quality practitioners will have their own website and google will help you to find someone in your area. Take the time to browse the sites of a few different Professional Dominants. Don’t just look at the pictures. Take the time to read about their interests, limits and facilities. Many professional kinksters also blog, have reviews and have extensive social media presences. These can be a valuable way to get a feel for skill level and personality fit.

Many professional perverts will detail how they prefer to be contacted on their sites. When you feel ready to enquire about a booking be sure to be polite, concise and respectful in your approach. Many of us are quite selective in who we see.

What happens if a new player is unsure of what they want?

Most quality professional dominants will be able to put together an intro session comprising popular activities. You and they will then be able to assess what worked and what didn’t.

Intro sessions can sometimes yield surprises. Sometimes things that seemed like super hot ideas don’t translate well to reality. Conversely things that were not super appealing can turn out to be really enjoyable in practice.

My preference is always that the sub have done enough research to have at least an idea of their potential interests. Kink is quite a broad field so it does help to at least have a starting point.

Describe a typical session for a new player and what they can expect at your intro session.

There really is no typical session. Each session is tailored to incorporate expressed interests and limits.

Going into an intro session your expectation should be that the play will be conducted safely, in a clean environment and that your limits will be respected.

What are some things new players should know and prepare themselves before trying out?

It’s important to understand that the relationship between you and the kink provider that you see is a professional one. While what happens in session is intimate and real, the relationship is a boundaried one for valid reasons. This protects you as well as your provider. Respecting the time and privacy of your kink professional is essential.

Both parties will enjoy the time spent in the dungeon more if you arrive clean and well groomed. I always tell slaves to prepare for a session as they would prepare for a hot date.

The other thing to consider is sub drop. Intense experiences can stir up a lot of endorphins which can leave you feeling a bit ordinary in the days or hours following the session. If you’re feeling a bit tired, or depressed after play recognising that sub drop is a thing and taking good care of yourself helps a lot. I let slaves coming to me for an intro know that they can email me to debrief if needs be.

Can you tell us more about the dungeon where your sessions are done and the equipment available?

My sessions are conducted from Mistress Servalan’s Carisbrook dungeon. It’s a large, open plan warehouse with themed areas – quite a unique playspace. We have a huge main dungeon, a school room, a cross dressing room, a mirrored sling room and a rubber themed area. As well as all the usual toys we have an impressive selection of bondage furniture – some custom and many from Fetters, including an inversion rack and our beloved “Wheel of Misfortune”. We also have a cell which is often utilised in overnight sessions, a dog box (which can also be used for sensory deprivation), a standing cage and a suspendable ball cage.

Michelle Kimberlee, the voluptuous glamour and fitness model

One of the best things about Melbourne, Australia is knowing you might have the chance to run into the sexy Michelle Kimberlee.  Internationally known for her glamour and fitness shoots in magazines, as well as being a ring girl for MMA fights, Michelle talks to SimplySxy on fitness tips, her sexiest shooting experience and her favourite lingerie.

SimplySxy: Hey Michelle, great to have this interview opportunity with you on SimplySxy. Tell us about yourself and how you were discovered.

Michelle: Well it all began when I signed up to a promotional modelling agency when I just finished high school, and had to do a professional photo shoot to create a portfolio. My first shoot was on the beach and it was so much fun! I fell in love with modelling and never looked back 🙂

    2

SimplySxy: You’re also a qualified make-up artist. Does this make it easier during your own photoshoot or there is added pressure on the make-up artist?

Michelle: Yes, so much easier, especially when I’m crunch for time! I love make up and prefer doing my own make up for shoots so I can just get to my shoots ready to go 🙂 No waiting around!

    8

SimplySxy: What is the sexiest shooting experience you’ve undergone so far?

Michelle: The sexiest shoot was probably one that I did recently in a pool with a white wet t-shirt! Another one was a little different, it was a pillow fight on a bed with another girl in lingerie, it was so much fun, we had some good laughs :p

    5

SimplySxy: For someone who loves fitness and works out regularly, please share with us some fitness tips to get an amazing body like yours.

Michelle: The best tip would be to make a routine and stick to it! At the moment I’m going around 4-5 times a week, and even when I’m tired from a long day I still force myself to go! My gym is 24/7 which makes it a lot easier, no excuses! Stick to exercises you enjoy. Diet is also important but I allow myself to eat treats here and there 🙂 I love chocolate too much!

SimplySxy: That being said, will you consider dating someone who is out of shape?

Michelle: Haha! I don’t date people purely on their looks and shape but it is attractive when they take care of themselves! That being said, some guys can take it too far and be too obsessed with their looks which is a complete turn off!4

SimplySxy: Do you get hit on a lot when you’re out or are guys too shy to approach?

Michelle: I do get hit on quite a bit when I’m out but some guys will see me out then message me on social media and tell me they saw me instead of approaching me! I think it’s cute when they’re too shy to say hello.

    IMG_1134

SimplySxy: What is your favourite lingerie and how big is your collection?

Michelle: My lingerie collection is pretty decent sized, but you can never have too much lingerie! I love playboy lingerie, they have such beautiful patterns and it’s never boring! I love lingerie that stands out 🙂 I don’t own any beige or plain lingerie at all, it’s all sexy lace, rhinestones and see through 😉

    6

SimplySxy: What’s the wildest thing you’ve done?

Michelle: Hmm.. Too many things to say! I think I’ll have to keep them a secret, you might find out one day.

    9

SimplySxy: It’s a great pleasure to interview you Michelle, and before we end the interview, how do you define “sexy”?

Michelle: Sexy to me is having class and confidence! And being happy within yourself 🙂

  • Australia’s Legal Brothels, Perth

    Australia’s Legal Brothels, Perth

So I decided to go to Perth, the other side of Australia, where the mining boom has given the average tradesman a six figure salary.  Again the scene, was very different but the receptionists were lovely and supportive, so that was good enough for me.  It was smaller with less girls, thus it was a bit cliquey, with even the owners engaging in workplace gossip.  The main thing that shocked me was the proliferation of methamphetamine amongst the workers and clients. Western Australian state brothel laws prohibit the consumption of alcohol on premises.  What shocked me was how open they were about their recreational drug use.

Clients would come in and say ‘Sorry I might not get hard, I blazed pretty hard just before I got here’ (NB ‘blaze’ refers to smoking a meth pipe).  Many times I would strike up conversation with girls only to be constantly interrupted and eventually just watch them ramble on and on.  On Saturday nights we would watch and laugh at the resident heroin addict who would go on the nod and spill tea all over herself.  It was a relief really because as long as she was unconscious, we wouldn’t have to protect our stuff.  She was a kleptomaniac.

Because of the alcohol restrictions and the unavailability of cocaine in WA, it was actually a lot easier to work there.  In the Shoe on a Saturday night there would be a 50/50 chance that we would have to spend hours getting lock-jaw sucking on sheathed and flaccid dick.  In Perth, besides the 1% on meth, the worst they could do was drink too much making them rock hard and unable to ejaculate which is still better than flaccid dicks.

Being an isolated city, Perth has a higher proportion of Australian clientele, and not the cosmopolitan kind that can be found in Sydney and Melbourne.  I don’t care what anyone says, us Australians are pretty fucking funny.

Bearing this in mind, I decided to move to Perth and go private.  The only thing holding me back from going private in Sydney was not being able to afford a place of my own.  With its more affordable housing and wealthy laid-back population, I decided to take the plunge.

Looking back, I do not think I could go back to brothel work.  Then again, as they say in this industry, ‘never say never.’  Hell, I walked away from the Shoe three times.  I get to choose my clients, work when I want and earn over twice as much as I did in brothels where management garnished 30%-50% of whatever money we made.

What I do miss most is the camaraderie between the workers.  The gender stereotype that all women are bitchy and compete with each other does not apply to the work environment in brothels.  Any worker who did subscribe to this stereotype quickly became a pariah.  Never did I experience an environment that was more supportive and non-judgmental than the brothel.  Our backgrounds, income, identity etc. didn’t matter.  There, we were all equal.

  • Australia’s Legal Brothels, Sydney Part 2

Australia’s Legal Brothels, Sydney Part 2

With respect to receptionists and management, I have to say the Shoe ranks as the worst for me.  But it has the best reputation out of all brothels in the state so it had a higher number of clientele.  I worked there on and off for two years.  I suspect that the management has engineered certain rules to make sure that working girls have a shorter shelf life, which means a constant influx of new workers which is attractive to clients.  Some receptionists were lovely and there for us workers.  But the business was run with a ‘customer’s always right’ mentality.  This is all well and good for when you’re selling inanimate products or a normal service like house cleaning or dentistry.  But when you are dealing in an industry that essentially sells personalities, it is a whole different scenario.

Personalities are malleable and dependent on so many external factors.  For a worker that is good at her job, the only thing that will affect her performance is the way a client treats her.  I tell my clients all the time, as long as you are polite and respectful, you will get the best from me.  Of course in this world sometimes people don’t click.  When a dispute erupts between a client and working girl, chances are it is the client’s fault.

The bookings I walked out of that stick in my memory are the guy who was so drunk he could barely stand and after about 20 minutes he must have told me to ‘Shut tha fook oop’ at least ten times.  There was also the guy who just went and shoved his dick up my anus on one of my first ever shifts.  As a brothel worker I did not allow clients to finger me, be too rough or indulge in certain extras without paying first.  Most of us would just warn him the first time a client crossed our boundaries, the second time we would walk out.

At the Shoe, though, there was an implicit pressure to put up with clients’ shit, no matter how bad we were being treated.  If it wasn’t because receptionists recorded everything in a diary and sacked girls who had had too many run-ins with clients, it was because many times I saw certain perpetrators be welcomed back in to the establishment and piss off some more workers.

The first time I left it was because I went traveling for months, fell in love, then got a normal job.  When that short-lived romance ended I wasn’t quite ready to go back there.  On its own the Shoe is overwhelming.  So I worked a few shifts at one Eastern Suburbs establishment where the receptionists were the nicest I had ever come across but dammit, they just didn’t get enough clients.

I moved on to another brothel right in the middle of Sydney’s central business district.  Because of its location I stood a chance of making a similar amount to what I made at the Shoe from the suit-wearing clientele.  Unfortunately, the management were a bunch of meth-addled, paranoid, MMA-type men.  The brothel was much like those found in Melbourne where rather than being put in a room, introduced to girls one-by-one and told to choose, clients could sit at a bar and talk a bit more with girls.  This is all well and good but many time-wasters would come in, sit at the bar for ages, perv on the girls then leave.  Others would stay for hours then only book the cheapest service.

Initially the owner and his MMA mates were vigilant about making these wankers leave but after a while they started assuming the ‘customer’s always right’ mentality a la Shoe.  Furthermore, the beefy owner would sit at the end of the bar watching everything going on like some pimp.  Most owners would employ a female manager for this, so clients and even the workers wouldn’t be put off.

Some of the workers there weren’t particularly nice either.  There were many older women who had been working there for years who took an instant dislike to me.  There was a more competitive atmosphere because of the bar setting.  I suppose because we didn’t have our own room to hang out while waiting for clients, we couldn’t really relax.

Eventually, I wound up back at the Shoe but every few weeks, I’d take some weeks off to dedicate more time to my studies or travel some more.  One year later I left because I had an argument with the manager who yelled at me for not wanting to take a one hour booking 15 minutes before my 10 hour night shift was due to end.  She said when I offered to do the booking for half an hour “It’s not up to us to tell the clients how long they can stay or not. If you do this again you won’t be welcome back here.

Feeling like I had no autonomy over my own body I left to work at a rival brothel.  Here many of the girls and even one of the receptionists had worked at the Shoe and left for similar reasons to mine.  I remember my first booking; as soon as I brought the client up the room and finished his health check he leaned in to the shower and began pissing.  In my surprise I told reception over intercom.  The receptionist arrived immediately, sternly told the man that all he had to do was ask me which way to the toilets and asked me if I still wanted to go ahead with the booking.  My standards were low after working at the Shoe for years so I said yes.  As we were walking downstairs to sort the money out the client yelled down to us to stop talking about him.  The receptionist went up there, yelled at him to put his clothes on and kicked him out.  This would not have happened at the Shoe and it made me feel really good about this new place,  Whitney’s I’ll call it.

For brothel workers it’s important for our morale to know that the receptionists are on our side.  To watch us like hawks and not back us up when we have legitimate grievance with a client damages our psyche.  We no longer like our work, making us more likely to give bad service.  It also makes us more likely to burn out quickly and disappear, which is probably what the Shoe was aiming for.  Meanwhile, other business struggle to find enough variety of ladies and appreciate if a worker can bring in regular clients.  Unfortunately, I just couldn’t make enough money at Whitney’s, there weren’t enough clients coming in.
