Bay Area Photographer & Model Ari Le

I’m originally from the San Francisco Bay Area! I moved to Southern California for University and did some modeling while I was down there — mostly art modeling and some print. After graduation, I moved back to the Bay Area and took up photography. I’m now a photographer-model hybrid, although I prefer to take the photos these days.

Which is your proudest achievement so far?

It isn’t much but I’m quite proud of my progress in photography. I am completely self-taught and learned through watching YouTube videos and reading tutorials. I also like to ask other photographers about their techniques and editing if I like their work to help me learn.

How is a typical day like for yourself?

I have a 9-5 office job so it isn’t too exciting day-to-day. Weekends are when I usually do photoshoots, edit, and/or brainstorm for future shoots!

Do you have any favorite quotes you like to use?

“Nothing photoshop can’t fix”.

I definitely don’t do heavy editing in my work but I say that as a joke because I don’t want the model to have to worry about something being out of place. I like to capture carefree and natural beauty and it’s much easier if the subject isn’t worrying about what MIGHT look wrong. Sometimes it is the flaws in the photo that makes it unique and beautiful.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but haven’t had the time?

I’d love to travel and shoot in locations that aren’t in the Bay Area but I’d rather not take too much time off of work.

Which flavor best describes you?

Vanilla. I am a simple girl who doesn’t need much to be satisfied.

If you could collaborate with anyone past or present, who will it be?

This is a tough one! I wouldn’t say there is any one particular person. I’ve made many model and photographer friends via Instagram who are incredibly talented — some live too far away to visit easily and collaborate, so I would say I’d love to meet up with any of them some day to work together!

What is the funniest or lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?

Honestly, I either don’t get much of these anymore or I am too oblivious to know them. If anything, I would say like every girl, I receive a moderate number of strange/awkward DMs on Instagram.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Ari. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”? 

I define it as being confident and comfortable in one’s own skin! I love capturing natural beauty. One of the main reasons I took up photography is to capture the beauty in others and help them feel more confident in themselves!
