Hi, my name is Gloria, was born in Hong Kong, and raised in Canada since 1995.
Have you always had an interest in fashion since you were a child?
To be honest, I didn’t get to choose what to wear when I was a kid but I started to be interested in fashion in high school and had always been up with the trend.
What inspired you to start your website and brand?
It was the people around me who believe in me and told me that I should start since I’m so passionate about what I do.
Are there any quotes or mottos you like to use?
Omg… I got so many. Let me tell you my top 3 –
Everything happens for a reason.
You’re the creator of your reality.
What you think, you become.
If you could time travel, what will you like to witness?
I am a little bit of a control freak so I definitely would love to see the future me.
How is a typical day like for yourself?
After I wake up, the first thing I check would definitely be Instagram, then my stocks and emails. I walk my boys (Alaskan Klee Kai) 2 times a day, feed them and then usually run errands or get any appointments done during the day before traffic hits and then spend usually 1.5 hr to 2 hrs on my work out. I work from home so I spend usually few hours on the computer and see clients if I need to.
On a scale of 1-10, how much of an adventurer are you?
I wouod say I’m a 7.
Does chivalry still exist today?
I don’t think so. Lol.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Gloria. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
Can I say “me” haahaaa.
Well, I think sexy means confident to me. Is how you carry yourself. If you’re truly confident about yourself, everyone around you could sense it.
Hi everyone! My name is Jane Yi and I’m 24 years old. I was born and raised in Redondo Beach and graduated from UCR with a degree in Media and Cultural Studies. I chose this major because I was and still am very interested by how much media affects our society today. I am currently a stylist in the fashion industry and am also the owner of @shoptrendyi.
My main purpose of starting my online boutique is to be able to provide affordable yet quality clothes to students and young women because I believe that every woman deserves to look and feel their best without having to break the bank.
Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
I’m really inspired by fashion bloggers and icons such as Olivia Culpo, Aimee Song, and Kendall Jenner. I look up to them a lot because not only do I love their classy and elegant style, but I also admire them as women.
Are there any quotes or mottos you like to use or resonate strongly with you?
To not give a f*ck about what anyone thinks of you. I feel like a lot of us can get so caught up in how other people view us and I used to be guilty of this too. I was in a sorority when I was in college, so naturally I used to care a lot about my image and how people viewed me because of the environment I was in, but now I could care less about what anyone thinks of me or of what I’m doing. I think the most important thing is that you’re happy with the person that you are and the lifestyle that you are leading.
Which is a memorable travel experience (good or bad) you have had before?
My most memorable travel experience would have to be my trips to South Korea because they’re always spent with family. I don’t get to see my relatives as often as I’d like because all of them are either in South Korea or Canada so I always enjoy those trips the most.
What have you always wanted to do but have yet to find the time for it?
I’ve always wanted to go snorkelling or skydiving. I love the ocean and activities that get my adrenaline running.
If you can have a super power, what will it be?
I would want healing powers so that I can help people who are sick because I know how it feels to lose someone that you love due to an illness.
Are you more of a morning person or night owl?
I am definitely a morning person! I love starting off the day with a morning workout and I find myself the most productive during the day.
What turns you off on a date?
When a guy talks about himself or the materlistic things that he owns for majority of the date. I won’t be impressed.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Jane. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to me! I really enjoyed answering all of these questions. To me, there’s nothing more “sexy” than confidence and that’s why I’m so passionate about Fashion. It’s such a fun and empowering way for people to express themselves. So personally, I feel the most confident when I’m wearing an outfit that I love and I want to help other women feel the same.
Hi, I’m Joanna Garcia, 28 year old celebrity fashion stylist from sunny Manila, Philippines. I’ve been styling for more that eight years and I would really say that I love and enjoy what I’ve chosen to do. Aside from fashion, I love yoga, painting and cooking during my spare time!
Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
I get my fashion inspiration from everywhere. People I meet, my travels, social media, different artists I’ve come to work with, the list goes on and on. I’m always finding ways to be inspired everyday — this is how I keep the creativity flowing.
Are there any items in your wardrobe you can’t live without?
I cannot leave without a white button-down shirt, good fitting pair of jeans and my very comfy and trusty Chanel ballerina flats. I’m a basics kinda gal, as long as it’s chic and it fits very well, I’m good to go.
How will you describe a typical day like for yourself?
I wake up around 8am, do a short meditation, diffuse my energizing essential oils (this was truly life changing for me, haha) then start my day with breakfast while checking my e-mails. Most days I would attend shoots, meetings, events or style campaigns, other days you would often see me in the mall sourcing looks for my celebrity clients.
Is there a food or drink you never take?
I’m not really a picky eater but I don’t like Bitter Melon and I’m not very fond of tomatoes!
What have you always wanted to do or learn but have yet to find the time for it?
I’ve been meaning to go back to London and take short courses in Central Saint Martins in cool hunting and advanced fashion styling but schedules always get in the way, I would love to do probably this year or next, as they say, Education is the best investment you can give yourself. I believe this will also allow me to hone my skills better to become a better stylist.
If you could time travel, where will you go and like to experience or witness?
Wish I’d live in the 70s! The music, the parties, and the fashion.
What turns you off on a date?
A guy that is too arrogant or full of himself.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Joanna. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
Sexy is being comfortable in your own skin, not being afraid to show who you really are 🙂
Hello, well thank you for featuring me! I am Brigitte, I’m 21 years old and I live in the countryside of the Netherlands. In 2018 I graduated and achieved my Bachelor of Arts. At the moment I have multiple jobs, I am a freelance model, freelance stylist and designer and also do the PR and marketing for a company. I have a passion for fashion and art. In my spare time I like to drive my horse or meet up with friends. I have also have a lot of other animals, including three aquariums.

What got you started into modeling?
I have wanted to be a fashion model for quite a while, I auditioned multiple times and even have my catwalk certificate. Eventually I realized I probably just don’t have what they are looking for in a fashion model at this moment. I still wanted to model so I started doing TFP shoots which was often a great experience and a confidence booster. At the moment, I shoot a lot for Suicide Girls.

Which is your most memorable or unforgettable photoshoot so far?
Oh gosh, there are multiple. I think the most memorable shoot for me was with a photographer that was super awkward. He kept pushing me to do literally physically impossible positions and he was really awkward to communicate with. After we were finished he asked me multiple times if I wanted to do another shoot with him but I thanked him kindly. The pictures turned out nice though!

How will you describe a typical day like for yourself?
A typical day like me would be waking up around 9, having a panic attack about my day. Then I get my shit together and make breakfast, often a smoothie, I eat plant based. When I’ve finished breakfast I brush my teeth, get ready and take care of my horses. Then I do some meditation, yoga and then a little workout. I usually work behind the computer doing PR and marketing or I take on a design/clothing project.
After lunch, I often walk my dogs and then I go back to work for a few hours. At around 5 o’clock I lunge my horses (basically make them run), it’s part of their daily exercise. Around 6 I have dinner and then I go back to work.
At 9 I usually install myself with a glass of wine in front of the TV or I read a book. I try to go to bed at 11. That would be a typical day for me, I am kind of bored of working at home but I hope to get a new job soon at a clothing store.

Is there a story you can share behind one of your tattoos?
Well all of my tattoos have stories. But one of my first tattoos was my half sleeve, inspired by my favorite movie/comic character Wolverine. I have a tattoo of Wolverine and Phoenix because their complicated relationship has always fascinated me. I mean how difficult can a man’s life be? Being in love with the woman who is the most powerful mutant that is also mentally unstable and in a relationship with another man.
At some point he even kills her because she asked him to because she had become too dangerous. Jeez, that is one sad but beautiful love story. Phoenix also reminds me of myself because I have experienced serious mental problems in the past. Now luckily things are going better, but I wouldn’t wish a psychosis to happen to anyone.

What have you always wanted to do but have yet to find the time for it?
I have always wanted to launch my own sustainable fashion brand, which takes a lot of time.
If you could time travel, where will you go and like to experience or witness?
I think I would travel to the 70’s or 80’s the music and fashion back then was just amazing! I love glamrock and I am a fan of Queen and David Bowie (and many other’s) but their concerts would be something I would definitely go to.

What is the funniest or lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?
Some guy in the train just started talking about my appearance and suddenly asked for my phone number. I didn’t really want to give it to him but I still had to sit in the same train for 15 minutes, awkward……

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Brigitte. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
My definition of sexy is be proud of who the fuck you are. Rock your insecurities, love yourself for who you are and if you can’t accept something about yourself don’t whine about it, do something about it.
Thank you so much for having me! Well I’m Randi Joan, I’m a multi-media artist, musician, writer, and stylist from upstate New York! I am the live rhythm guitarist/keyboardist for Debris Of Titan (they just released a debut album and we have lots of EPs dropping left and right) and I run a vintage and Japanese inspired fashion blog.
What is your proudest achievement so far?
Wow, I think it still honestly has to be this national award I won in high school for photography. I tried very hard, taking a finished photo every day and submitted about 50 entries! I didn’t make it to finals the year before and it was my last chance. I made it though and teared up on stage. It made me realize I could do anything if I put my all in it and didn’t give up.
Which is the best compliment you have received?
When I’m complimented on something that can’t be replicated, that is unique to me. Usually if I’ve helped somebody, especially just by being myself. On my fashion blog I recently had somebody tell me my photos were a body-positive motivation as they struggled with an eating disorder. That blew me away.
Do you have any guilty pleasures or indulgences?
I’ve tried to turn my major one into something productive (referring to my blog). Haven’t been good at doing that with fried food though!
What is the funniest thing you have witnessed or happened to you?
I once fell down an upwards escalator, which was…as remarkable as it was, enduring.
If you could change one thing about the world, what will it be?
More empathy, less fear. That goes hand in hand with honesty. With yourself and to others. People deceive themselves all the time and when you hide from what you are or how you feel, or let those things rule your day to day life…we suffer. We act out. We hurt and oppress others. We lie. Even when we think it’s for the best or not a big deal. There’s no reflection or quiet time in this busy world.
Which genre of movies do you enjoy most?
Cinema is one of my favorite things ever so honestly, I’ll watch anything. I get a kick out of well directed movies. Where the cast has chemistry. The characters and writing have growth. The plot has depth. And the cinematography is interesting. Since I work with visual media, I really pay attention to highly stylized shots. Or just when you can tell it’s very intentional with its concept, if that’s something you tend to look for! Bonus points if the wardrobe and soundtrack are amazing.
Funniest or lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?
I suppose anyone who thought it’d be easy and quick, haha.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Randi. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
I’d say sexy is all about being yourself and being it passionately. It has little to do with outer beauty. If you’re a soft and quiet sexy, or a bold and loud sexy, when you are comfortable in your mind and body you’re happier. Attraction is more mental than physical for me but everyone is different. I have to feel as if I’ve glimpsed your soul and that you can understand my own. Once that’s there, everything about you is a magnetic glow. Uniquely sexy.
When both our guards are down and the vulnerabilities can be understood, you’re easier to be around and I admire that confidence to just be completely yourself. Who you truly are, your thoughts and feelings and opinions, what you like and dislike, your ideas, your criticisms, your knowledge, past, and plans for the future. That’s what catches my attention because I love learning about people.
Hi Rosie it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?
Hi there! I am a 25 year old woman from West Texas. I first started Pinup modeling in 2010 but it wasn’t until this past summer that I took the big leap to begin really branding myself as a model and stylist.
What is your proudest achievement so far?
My greatest achievement professionally?! Man, I feel like so many wonderful things have happened since launching Rosie Cheeks that it’s difficult to narrow it down to a single achievement; having my photography published in a Pinup publication for the first time would have to be up there in my top five greatest achievements!
You have had an amazing career and lots of wonderful life experiences in your journey so far. How do you motivate yourself to keep exploring and touching other peoples’ lives?
In order to keep motivated I surround myself with positive influences and people I look up to professionally. I remind myself daily of my goals and why I am doing this; to make women feel beautiful and to make a difference in my community.
How is a typical day like for yourself?
I start the day with coffee and getting my daughter ready for school, then answering messages or emails, and then depending on upcoming events I usually have a pretty hefty list of projects and such to tackle. I recently launched the cover of my little hometown Pinup Publication so I have been busy with pages and editing for our January release date.
Can you tell us more about the definition of “pinup” and clarify any misconceptions you typically hear about the word?
The term “Pinup” comes from the gals shown in posters from the Mid Century, these posters were pinned up on walls and lockers etc, knowing that, Pinup to me is any woman you see as strong, courageous, beautiful, smart, fashionable, creative. She is someone anyone can look up to.
If you could describe yourself as a flavor, what will it be?
I’d like to think of myself as pineapple flavored; tangy but mostly sweet!
Is there something about the opposite sex that you just don’t get?
What’s the big deal with reading a map or asking for directions?!
What in life can you not get enough of?
Sunshine, fresh air and success.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Rosie. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
Sexiness to me can be something as simple as the way one walks into a room or commands the attention of those around her. Sexiness is confidence in how you carry yourself. Not necessarily being scantily clad, Sexy is a state of mind.
Hi Viktoria it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?
Hello! I am from Ukraine, but live in USA.
When did you get started into modeling?
I started modeling at age 15 (I had been mini, miss my city) and blogging at 17, and now I am 22 years old .
Which is the best compliment you have received?
I received it from my childhood friend who said that I am special and that by making my own criticism of myself, I force myself to unconsciously grow and become better and that in the year that we did not see each other I became even more beautiful, smarter, more interesting and successful – to me it was very nice to hear it, because the very fact that he watched me all the time of our communication and then made an objective evaluation hooked me.
How is your fashion style like?
I would characterize my style with the following words: freedom, elegance, fashionable details, pleasant tissues to the body, romnintichnost.
What items or accessories are a must have in your wardrobe?
Necklaces, which for me serve as talismans and a large number of earrings without which I can not do without at least a day.
Do you have any hobbies?
Yoga, meditation, writing the essay (thought in the ear).
Would you rather spend a day at the beach or up in the mountains?
It depends on what the weather (from season) is, if it is, summer I prefer mountains or if it’s winter time, I prefer more beaches then mountains 😉
Funniest or lamest attempt a guy has tried to know you?
Perhaps this was the situation when a guy came to find out the time and then followed me for half an hour asking me this all the time and trying to get acquainted in many ways.
Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Viktoria. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
I believe that sexuality is displayed in our eyes, in our walk, movements, behavior and that clothes can only emphasize, and not create sexuality. Nowadays, many people confuse vulgarity with sexuality, but there is always a line between them, which every self-respecting girl must learn to feel.
My advice to the girls, if you want to look sexy, start with love for yourself and adopt the technique of coquettes from French women, which you can partly adopt to yourself through movies and books about French women.
Hello everyone! My name is Ruby Chan and I made up a name for myself for my social media accounts which is Ruby Gloom. So this name is from a well-known Canadian cartoon and I found myself similar to the character Ruby Gloom so I took this name. I’m from Hong Kong and I just turned 24 years old. I’m a Fashion Blogger, Stylist (mostly people called me an Internet Influencer) and I also own my brand “WeeGirlsClub”. I studied language during my high school and English Literature was my major in tertiary education. I started dressing really outrageous in 2011 and suddenly became popular on the Internet firstly on Facebook, then Instagram and Tumblr. After that I got plenty of exposure such as on Dazed N Confused Magazine, Tokyo Kawaii TV and other websites and magazines.
Where do you get your fashion inspiration from?
I’m a really random person, sometimes ideas just suddenly pop up on my mind. But basically I know very well about what I like and what matches me, so I get very into things I love which is important to create new ideas. Also I follow a lot of amazing people on Instagram and they are very artistic and inspirational. Also my closest friend Koleman (also known as BBYSENPAI on IG) is always the biggest inspiration to me. We influence each other a lot.
Can you tell us more about Weegirlsclub?
Weegirlsclub is my brand which I founded last year in August. Initially I started it for selling my second-hand clothes since a lot of my followers had been asking me to do that. Then after awhile I had this idea of making my own collections. I treat my brand not just as a clothing brand but a community. “Wee” means “little”, and I think that women no matter what age should stay young and wild forever. In April, I designed a collection of WIFI Qipao, which I explored Asia and examined the traditional Chinese qipao. I re-imagined this traditional dress for the modern tech-savy girl of today. The design of a new-age qipao with a contemporary fit and embellished with virtual iconography boundaries and staying cute and young is never bounded by ages.
You have quite a few lovely tattoos, is there a story behind one of them?
The first time I did my tattoos, it was like three years ago. I wanted tattoos for a long time and that period of time was like the toughest in my life so I decided to give myself some physical pain. The first tattoos on my arms were two heart-shaped candies with “Hope” and “Faith”. I wanted to remind myself whenever I feel depressed and my head is down, I see my tattoos with “hope and faith”, I can cheer myself up.
What is a typical day like for Ruby Gloom?
My typical day is: Waking up at noon, smoke a cigarette and treat myself to a cup of tea. Going on my laptop, checking emails and orders from my online shop. Then get ready to go out for a photoshoot/events or my part time job. At night I would go meet my boyfriend at his studio or we would go out for dinner. Then we look at each others faces for a long or short time depending on our schedule before we go home.
How often do you replace your wardrobe?
I don’t have a routine to replace my wardrobe. Usually when I’m free and I have time to do some shopping, I will buy something for my new outfits. And I get quite a lot of clothing sponsors too which is so great that I can have free but cute new stuff to wear! But my wardrobe is exploding most of the time since I have really too many things so sometimes I would join flea markets organized by my friends and sell my clothes. I don’t want to waste the pieces and I think a lot of people can rock them!
Is there a particular outfit or accessory that you will never ever wear?
OH yes! I never ever wear brown colors… I think brown can be cute or cool on a lot of people but not me. I just don’t feel like myself wearing brown. And I never wear high heels to go out too. I cannot walk in heels and I have some nerve problem at my back because I used to wear really high platforms for years which triggered this problem. And wearing heels makes my back and legs even worse.
On a scale of 1-10, how funny will you say you are?
I think I’m quite funny, I get a sense of humor mostly when I’m in good mood. I guess a 7?
It’s a great pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy, Ruby. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
Thanks for featuring me too!
I think all kinds of description towards women have a standard put inside, and especially the word “sexy”. For me I appreciate all kinds of beauty no matter what ethnicity, gender, style or everything. I think “sexy” comes from the inner side of a person and when someone is confident, they are really sexy. But for sure I have my own taste on sexiness too! I think people who smile a lot are sexy.
As a fashion inspiration and photography lover, Michelle Koesnadi has build up her blog Glisters and Blisters with a massive following of fans who are interested to find out fashion and styling tips from this lovely entrepreneur. We catch up with Michelle in this quick interview and ask the ELLE Style Awards 2011 Blogger of the Year winner a few questions.
SimplySxy: Hi Michelle, it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Can you share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?
Michelle: I am from Indonesia. I am a stylist / entrepreneur and I owe my current jobs from blogging in the first place!
SimplySxy: You’re a mother and have a second child on the way! How do you manage to juggle everything to seem so effortlessly and also look so great?
Michelle: Honestly, I don’t think that I always look great! My Instagram is just a fraction of my life, so I guess people can’t always see the ugly lazy side of me haha… I am not trying to portray the super mom image or anything, I am just being as real as possible.
SimplySxy: Other than your fashion posts, one of the best things about your Instagram are the pictures of food! Do you have any particular favourites to recommend the next time we are in Jakarta?
Michelle:Ah lots! Jakarta is a big and diverse city so there are a lot of great food wherever you go. I think that Nasi Campur Atek (the first outlet in Duta Mas area is the best, but their other outlets around Jakarta will do) is truly magnificent. At night, “martabak” is a favorite hot ‘dessert’ for us Indonesians. We now have modern red velvet or nutella martabaks, but I’m a classic cheese martabak lover. My favorite is from Sinar Bulan (stall opens 6pm above along the Muara Karang river area). PS. None of these 2 places above are posh & chic spots, they simply serve great food! Feel free to wear shorts and flip flops…
If you’re looking for a nicer place to eat Indonesian food, I would recommend Tesate Restaurant. Superb meat skewers and lamb fried rice!
SimplySxy: What are some must have items in every girl’s wardrobe?
Michelle: A little black dress, a pair tall of black pumps… And a white shirt..
SimplySxy: Which is one city you will love to visit to add to your photography collection but have yet to do so?
Michelle: Would love to go to Turkey and Iceland!
SimplySxy: Can you share with us 3 fun facts about yourself which your fans probably do not know?
Michelle: Despite being a blogger, I am actually still camera shy (that explains why I crop my face out alot or hide it behind my hair !).
I don’t enjoy parties much. I only like it when I go with my best friends. When it’s just a random invite to an event, I usually turn it down. I prefer to stay at home since I work on most days, I need those free times with my family. I don’t and cannot eat chilli (this is very rare for an Indonesian).
SimplySxy: What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Michelle:3 hair colors in one week. From my virgin hair to ariel red, to maroon red and finally dark cranberry-burgundy-ish red.
SimplySxy: Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions, Michelle. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
Michelle: Confidence is always sexy. But above that, it’s having a good heart, being honest, and putting that big brain of yours to great use that also makes a girl sexy. Dumb (or pretending to be dumb) and fake girls are simply unattractive.
