Houston Recording Artist & Model Christine Nicole

My name is Christine Nicole. I am originally from the West Texas town of Lubbock and I moved to Houston around four years ago. I’ve always been highly involved in the arts from a young age. Music has always been my first love and passion. Modeling somehow really tied into my little creative world.

Was being a model something you’ve always wanted to do growing up?

I had always admired models when I was younger but I never thought I would be one because I was heavily bullied for my unique look. It wasn’t until I was sixteen and I went to an open call for a modeling school and was selected. Upon completion, we were sent to another open call from an agency in the Dallas area. I was signed at seventeen.

In college, I actually got to work on the other side of the agency, working as a modeling and acting coach for the West Texas region. I worked directly with the agency, actively pulling and picking talent for jobs. I actually didn’t jump back into modeling until a few years ago. I realized how much I missed being in front of the camera. I like it much better than being behind the scenes.

Which genres of modeling are you most into?

I do a good amount of commercial modeling but I love editorial. I really want to start exploring that genre more. I am actively seeking these opportunities right now.

Where do you get your musical inspiration from?

I pull a lot of my inspiration from my own experiences or emotions at the time. I’m definitely an emotional writer. I can also come across pretty cynical. I want my music to be relatable which in turn causes me to write about the good, the bad, and the ugly. Vulnerability in my music is very important to me. What is a typical day like for you, juggling both being a model and musician?

It’s definitely interesting since they sometimes intertwine. The first thing I do is check all my emails and my social media accounts. I answer what I can and save the rest that need more attention for later. I update my schedulers. There’s a lot of coordination involved.

I have modeling shoots and promo shoots for my music so I have to have everything laid out and organized. I have a day job so everything usually happens directly after work or on my weekends. I make sure to schedule breaks for myself or I’ll be nonstop. It’s how I’m wired.

If you collaborate with anyone past or present, who will it be?

There’s quite a few but I’d love to write with John Mayer because he’s by far one of the best songwriters out there. If I could collaborate in performance it’d be Buddy Holly. I have a very deep respect for his journey and the way he changed music.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I love to travel with my husband. We really enjoy exploring new places together. We have a list of places that we would like to scope out before we start a family.

What do you not get about guys?

Oh gosh, how much time do we have? There’s so much I have no idea where to begin.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Christine. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”? 

Sexy, to me, is straight up confidence. Confidence in yourself and your abilities. When you are confident, you are sexy. It’s being comfortable in your own skin. Loving yourself.
