    Host, Singer, Voice-Over Artist Rachelle

Hello everyone! I am Rachelle but you can call me Rach, I am from Manila, Philippines. I am a professional host, a singer, a voice-over artist, and a talent on camera. So mainly, I collaborate with brands and endorse their products through multiple shows and convert sales during the show. Other than that, I am a budding content creator on the side with a main niche of beauty and a little bit of fashion too.

Fun fact about me, I started working as a full-time host when I was in my third year of college because when the pandemic hit, our university shifted to online and that’s when I craved for experiences. That’s what pushed me to work in a media company while pursuing my studies. I earned a degree in Bachelor of Arts in Communication and graduated Magna Cum Laude just recently this June 2023.

Currently, I am still working for the same job and I am grateful to have received two promotions in a span of a year, I am close to my third promotion too! Exciting times ahead! Truly, it’s a different feeling when you are earning through pursuing your passion. You don’t have to pick really, between passion or practicality because I was able to buy my own car by doing what I love! So I tell you now, do what makes you happy!

What inspires your fashion style and where do you love to shop from?

I would say, even as I grew older my sense of fashion is definitely inspired by Barbie. I was always the girly one ever since I was a kid. I love everything pink and my definition of fashion is hyper feminine. I never strayed far away from that. My best friends will always tease me because when I was in grade school my mom would always make me wear complete accessories from headbands to earrings, to necklaces, bracelets, and watches, all in the same color! But I love them all though.

So you probably guessed it by now, but by the time the Barbie movie was released I definitely wore my best outfit at the cinema even though it may seem that I overdressed a bit, I just have to rock it with confidence, lol!

Also, I usually shop at Forever 21, they capture my sense of style plus I love how young their designs are, so it totally fits me.

How much of a foodie are you and what are your favorites?

Ohh! That’s something I discovered by hosting a food brand where I was tasked to do a taste test on air and describe what I love the most about the dishes. From then on, I became a foodie and was on the lookout for cafes and good food restaurants as well. I remember one time, I was out with my college friend and she brought me to a recently opened cafe the owner was so hands-on because he was asking us how the food tasted. My friend just casually said, “It’s delicious” but when I was asked, I went on and said in detail what I love about it and little suggestions on how it can be improved as well. Funny!

In terms of my favorites, I really love good Japanese and Korean cuisine. I am a fan of sushi and some fish cakes. But I do not eat spicy foods because my tolerance for anything spicy is literally little to none. Oh, and I crave sweet foods as well, that’s what I eat whenever I am stressed, it’s my happy food!

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

Well, I love literature and I have a whole collection of books. I enjoy reading and getting transported to another world while being lost in the texts. Aside from that, I love to paint too, that’s what I mostly do to pass the time. I enjoy combining colors and sometimes I do sketches as well. For sports, I was a badminton player back when I was in junior high school and it was the most fun experience I had back then. Up until now, I still do play but just for leisure time, not really anything competitive.

Right now, what I love doing the most is to recreate the glam looks that I see on Pinterest. Since I do character hosting for some of my events like copying Cinderella, Tinkerbell, and many more. That’s why I find it fun and entertaining to challenge myself to pull off those looks and be able to put a smile on the kid’s face by seeing some characters that are familiar to them.

Which 3 things do you recommend every tourist to experience in the city you live in?

Go to museums! The culture and the history that you will see will make you feel drawn to know more about it. These are rich cultures and the paintings that you will see are world class, it will be a trip to the past that will surely be one for the books.

Stroll at parks! I love the peace and serenity that one can get from these different parks, may it be a public park, a zoo, an ocean park, or an amusement park. It’s filled with fun people to interact with, and you may find something even more entertaining when you get to discover it yourself.

Eat in great Filipino restaurants! Yes, what I love about the city of Manila is that it has a tons of amazing dishes that you wouldn’t want to miss out on when you come by and visit. My personal favorite would be Sinigang, which is a stew characterized by its sour and savory taste.

Have you been in an embarrassing situation that is funny now when looking back?

Maybe when I was hosting an event as Super Mario but the catch is kids obviously see that I am a girl and there was no way I am Super Mario. One girl approached me and said, “You are not Super Mario because Super Mario is a boy,” I replied, “I am the sister of Super Mario and I wanted to be like him too!” But the kid wasn’t convinced and she just rolled her eyes and walked away.

I am also loss for words as to what I should reply because frankly, I’d rather be Princess Peach than Super Mario to make it look more convincing. Lol! When I look back now, it’s really funny how I desperately convinced the kids that I am the same Super Mario but a girl version just happened to show up!

If you could learn anything in this world, what will it be?

Maybe the secret to maintaining motivation on things that you are used to doing. Sometimes I feel like whenever I am used to what I am doing, it doesn’t excite me any longer or I kinda want to discontinue it. Just to share, I am also a writer but I remember back then, I just knew how to start a story and not be able to finish it, well unless it was a university requirement.

Mainly, because we all know that starting a journey is much easier than maintaining a path you walked on, eventually there will be hardships and challenges so how will you stay motivated when things do not go the way you plan right? Well, I am still in the middle of finding the answer, maybe you are too, but it is fine as long as we keep on moving forward, we will eventually find the right answers!

What do you not get about guys?

Hmm, I think how fast they are to get ready for some certain occasions even if it is a special one, they just have the right clothes in mind and does not spend a lot of time figuring out what they have to wear, sometimes it boggles my mind to as to how quick they decide on food that they want to eat because when I am with my girl best friends, it will probably take a long time for us to decide what we will eat for that specific time.

For me, that’s not what I do not get about them, and frankly, I also want that ability too. But jokes on me because I know for a fact, I’d rather prepare longer and go out with a polished look at the end of the day.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Rachelle. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

For me, sexy doesn’t just entail the physicality of a certain person. It is not just about the body and the common notion that we normally attach to its definition. I believe it transcends that, being sexy is about being confident. Whatever body shape, race, preference, or gender a certain person has, as long as they are confident about what they show towards other people then they are sexy to me.

Again, confidence is what makes a person sexy because if you look at it, sometimes insecurities eat us up and therefore, we end up questioning ourselves, whether we are beautiful, worthy, or enough, but if we overturn that and be more confident about how we present ourselves, then we too can become sexy in our own definition.

Canadian Model, Dancer, Gamer & Voiceover Artist Shiori

Hi Shiori it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

I’m a dancer, model, and voiceover artist (and a hobbyist gamer/streamer) from Toronto, Canada. I grew up in a city called Stuttgart in Germany. I moved to Canada in my early pre-teens and have lived here ever since. I’m still a student right now, in my final year of University, doing an honours specialization in finance with a minor in dance.

How will you describe your fashion style and where do you love to shop from?

I have a thing for over-the-knee boots, I love tall boots. I like to pair them with some sort of form fitting pants (skinny jeans, leggings, tights), and a large comfy sweater over top. That would be my typical fall/winter wear. I love accessories as well, though I don’t really wear them as much as I’d like… I’m in dance class or rehearsal a lot and usually need to remove jewelry for that, and I’m too lazy to keep taking them off and on. That leads to me just not wearing jewelry on days when I’m going in and out of the studio… which ends up being most days 🙁

I tend to like Asian brands since their clothing fits me better, and I’m super happy about UNIQLO opening their first Toronto store! I definitely see myself going there a lot now.

    What hobbies do you have?

I’m an avid gamer, I love both video games and traditional board games. A chill night at a board game cafe is one of my go-to hang out plans with friends. My favourite video games series of all time is Portal, and I’m currently playing League of Legends and Overwatch. I occasionally compete in amateur tournaments for these as well. I also love to dance, and I’ve been dancing for over 16 years now. And finally, I’m a huge bookworm – I read basically every genre and English/Literature was actually my favourite subject all through grade school. I kind of miss analyzing texts and writing essays, to be honest. I guess I’m a bit of an English geek haha.

Do you follow any beauty regime to looking so fantastic?

I don’t think I do anything too fancy. Skin and hair are the two things I mainly pay attention to. I’m pretty attentive about removing my makeup fully every night, cleansing my face well and then applying some moisturizer before bed. I know some people who have really extensive 10-step skin care routines every night haha, they do have really beautiful skin and I wish I could commit to something like that… maybe one day. My hair is actually one of my main flaws that I dislike and try my best to remedy. It’s very thin and dry. I do moisturizing hair masks every two weeks or so.

What is the best compliment you have received?

I once had a dance teacher tell me I had a beautiful and magnetic soul. She said that while I wasn’t necessarily the prettiest in the group, or the best dancer, I was still somehow the one everyone’s eyes turned to. It was me that people watched. That’s a comment that I remembered and held on to throughout the years. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I think its underlying meaning is something important everyone should keep in mind. It’s the idea that you didn’t have to be the prettiest or best or anything like that at all. If you live for yourself and stay true to yourself, that will come out through your words and actions, and people will see that.

If you could choose to learn anything in this world, what will it be?

More languages. I’ve always been interested in languages and was pretty good at picking them up. This is probably influenced by my childhood, where I moved countries a lot and had to keep learning new ones. I really enjoy traveling and exploring different cultures as well, so speaking more languages would definitely help.

What kind of music are you into?

I listen to a variety of music. In my current playlist I have top 40/generic pop, kpop, anime songs, video game/movie OSTs, and some classical pieces. My current favourite singer is Halsey, after hearing her in the OST for the movie Snow White and the Huntsman. I loved her collaboration with The Chainsmokers as well, of course. I’m also a huge fan of the composer Alexandre Desplat. He did a gorgeous piece called “The Mirror” that Travis Wall made really beautiful choreography to, as well as the soundtrack to The Grand Budapest Hotel.

How will you describe an ideal date?

Something creative, with bonus points if it’s something a bit more personalized for us. I think the person is more important that what we’re doing, there are a lot of things I would have a blast with, next to the right person. I would definitely appreciate a lot if it was something unique and special, as opposed to a generic movie/dinner, or coffee, etc that any random two people could default to.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Shiori. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

Confidence is definitely the sexiest trait in my opinion. I tend to be turned off by things like insecurity, the constant need for external assurance that you’re attractive/capable/etc, or lots of self-doubt in your own choices and actions. Don’t take it to the point of arrogance, but I find something incredibly attractive in someone just having that quiet but firm faith in themselves. To have purpose behind your actions and the conviction that you’re going somewhere.
