    I’m 23 years old and a culinary graduate. I just moved to Manila for the second time three months ago but I was born and raised in the province, was a culinary graduate and now I’m a full time artist. I do handpoke tattoos and nude modelling.

    How long have you been a model and what genres of modeling are you into?

    I started doing nude modelling when I was 18, so that was December of 2016 to be exact. Genre? Hmm nude, bondage or boudoir. Some people call me the exhibitionist type, and I also model for local streetwear brands.

    What inspired you to be a tattoo artist?

    Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always been fascinated with tattoos but I never thought that I’ll be a tattoo artist myself until last year when the whole world was in total lockdown, out of the blue I just started drawing again and doing handpoke tattoos on myself hahaha.

    Can you share a story behind one of your tattoos?

    This is the story behind my first tattoo “Faith (the one on my left chest)”. I’m just your typical teenager who wants to get a tattoo but doesn’t want to get into trouble after, so I decided to get the word “Faith” tattooed on my chest so my mom won’t scold me because it sounds so Christian. She still got mad at me since a tattoo was still a tattoo hahahaha.

    How do you like to spend your free time?

    I love to cook and bake, that’s why I took up culinary. I guess a first love never dies.

    If you could time travel, what will you like to experience or witness?

    The late 1800s fashion, I think it’s pretty cool to wear gowns everyday.

    Would you rather have the ability to control objects or teleport?

    Teleport of course, I’ll get to travel for free.

    What do you not get about guys?

    How can they not be dramatic LOL.

    I have only tattooed professionally for six months now actually… I’ve grown up in tattoo studios since I could remember, my dad has been a tattoo artist for over 30 years. Now, my brother and I have now become the 8th generation to become tattoo artists in my family.

    When I was younger, my dad always pushed me to tattoo but I never thought I was a good enough artist to do it.  Finally last year, I became more confident in my art since freelancing graphics and illustrations for a few years and decided to go for it, since I lost my normal office marketing job.

    I was so surprised to receive so much bookings and love towards my art from the first few weeks I held my license. I’m so grateful to be able to create art for people to cherish for the rest of their life, and I can’t wait to keep learning and creating.

    Do you have a story to share behind one of your tattoos?

    Most of my tattoos have meaning to me or took place in particular times in my life that I needed some sort of therapy. I really do believe getting tattooed is a therapeutic experience. My tigress on my hand/wrist is one of my favorites, it always reminds me of the power that my right hand particularly holds. Since I use my right hand to draw and work, it is really my most powerful tool. 

    How do you like to spend your free time?

    I love to spend my free time outdoors whether it’s surfing with my boyfriend, family and friends or in the forest exploring with my dogs. I’m so thankful to live in such a beautiful place and I think it’s very important to find inspiration and peace within nature.

    What are 3 fun things you like to do in the city you live in?

    We live in a pretty small town here in Kailua Kona. A few things I love to do are surfing, hiking, and exploring our Island of Hawaii. And I also love going to artisan markets and checkin out all the new small businesses and creatives here. We have so many talented people.

    Are you more of a lingerie or bikini babe?

    Definitely live in a bikini more but I love me some spicy lingerie too!

    Would you rather have the power to control minds or teleport?

    I would definitely love to teleport and experience more of the world and its cultures!

    I think sexy should not be defined in one word or way. I think being sexy should be about feeling confident in your own skin, feeling smart and intelligent, having a sense of humor, a sense of adventure and always having a good heart and intentions.

    Hi, this is Mini. I am a tattoo artist based in Hong Kong. I brought the fresh breeze of Small Tattoo to Hong Kong few years ago. After learning the technique from Korea, I opened my own tattoo studio, Mini Tattoo, which focuses on small-scale tattoos.

    How did you get inspired to the world of tattoos and be a tattoo artist?

    My tattoo style is mostly inspired by the Korean tattoo trend. It is colorful, petite, and the lines are thin and less bold. Most of my work is inspired by nature. Dainty flowers, exquisite feathers, and simplistic dream catchers are popular commissions among my clients. I guess that is why my tattoos are popular among young women and first-time tattoo-ers.

    I have been interested in tattoo art since secondary school. I have always had a passion for drawing, so I had the idea of becoming a tattoo artist instead. It was not easy at first. I looked up tattoo shops online and went knocking on their doors with my portfolio, asking if they would take me as a student. Only one tattoo shop took me as student. I started my journey to become a tattoo artist when I was 16.

    What is your specialty of Small Tattoo about?

    For me, I think small tattoos can be an art form that is here to stay and hope that my creations bring “a steady stream of creative spirit” to those who wear them.

    Which are the favorite tattoos you have done before?

    I once tattooed a client suffering from depression.  I know that her parents divorced when she was young, and her parents-in-law took care of her. She tried to hurt herself and committed suicide when she was unhappy. She still had many scars on her hands. She had been sexually harassed by her cousin when she was young. 

    Fortunately, her personality changed after raising a dog, and she later published a book for it.  The puppy was very sensible and knew that she was unhappy, so the puppy kept struggling to grab the door and saved her many times. Among the many tattoos, this impressed me very much.

    For someone who has never gotten a tattoo before, what do you recommend for their first?

    I always ask my clients to think thoroughly before considering getting a tattoo, because it is a permanent thing. Tattoos hold meanings for people. They are a form of art and it means a lot to clients and tattoo artists.

    I once had a customer who asked me to tattoo a robot design that was just a random sketch from someone. It was a quite simple pattern, but what hit me the most was the reason behind that tattoo. I asked her why she wanted such a simple tattoo, and she replied matter-of-factly, “Because it makes me happy. I laugh whenever I look at it, so I want to find a way to preserve it forever. ”

    Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but have yet to find the time for it?

    Usually I will travel to different countries as a guest tattoo artist. Due to Covid-19, I stayed in Hong Kong this year. I started to prepare my tattoo course. I wish the virus would go away. Wish everyone a safe passage through this difficult period.

    Hello! I’d like to start off with a big thank you for the feature. I’m a budding tattoo artist in sunny Singapore; I’d like to describe my style as small, cute and occasionally spooky!

    What hobbies or interests do you have?

    Tattooing aside, I also cosplay and model in my free time. I’ve been doing it for around 7 years now! I also love to sing and write poetry, albeit I may not be very good at it haha!

    Where do you usually love to shop from?

    In all honesty, I get most of my clothes from Taobao, I’m a sucker for cheap deals LOL. I enjoy shopping at Uniqlo and H&M as well, their basics are to die for!

    How will you describe a typical day like for yourself?

    Well on work days, it’s the usual coffee, tattoo, more coffee and then head home to draw more tattoos! However, on my rest days, I’m quite the homebody. Nothing beats staying at home with a good TV show on and a mountain of snacks for me to munch on!

    Do you follow a beauty regime strictly?

    No, not quite.. I always tell myself to start on one but I never get around to it (I don’t have the dedication and I’m simply just too lazy haha). But I do exfoliate and slap on a face mask every now and then when I feel like it!

    Is there something you’ve always wanted to do but have yet to find the time for it?

    I’ve never really thought about this! I suppose I’ve fallen into a routine and haven’t thought of breaking out of it. But if I really had to pick something, I’d like to bring my mom for a trip overseas.

    She’s been working very hard to support me and I want to take time off to have that ladies’ holiday with just us two. She deserves a break to travel to Korea and live out her K-drama dreams (and I want to be the one to achieve it for her hehe)!

    Would you rather have the ability to talk to animals or time travel?

    This is a rather interesting question! I would love to be able to speak to my pets as well as other animals but I also love the idea of being able to revisit history to see what it was like, so this is actually quite a tough decision.

    But ultimately, I’d definitely have to go with the ability to talk to animals. I believe it is best not to meddle with time!

    What do you not get about guys?

    Oof. This question was a really hard one. I think rather than just guys, there’s a lot that I don’t get about people in general. I think certain people find it difficult to understand themselves as well, me included haha.

    I’d like to think that there’s no “fixed mold” for an individual. And therefore the number of things I will never get are endless unless, though near impossible, someone else has the exact same mindset and personality as me.

    To me, sexiness is confidence and kindness. The ability to go, “This is who I am.” and embracing one’s own accomplishments and positive traits is incredibly sexy. Paired alongside a good heart with the will to help others, that’s sexiness overload for me!

    Hello! Firstly, I would like to give a huge thank you to SimplySxy for featuring me. My name is Alize and I am a tattoo artist that practices Japanese Irezumi (Japanese tattoo) in Singapore. I am also currently the only female that is mainly studying Japanese Irezumi in Singapore.

    Where did your inspiration to be a tattoo artist come from?

    Honestly I just wanted to be a cool young adult and be part of the cool scene (laughs).

    When I was young, I was always known as the shy kid in class that draws the best. Gradually as I grew older, I was exposed to Japanese Irezumi, mainly via anime and the Internet and I was so charmed by it.

    To me, Japanese Irezumi is so fiercely beautiful. I do not know how to explain how I feel towards it but there is something so purely seductive and charming about it. Therefore this explains why I chose to be a tattoo artist and also study its craft!

    What challenges do you face as a tattoo artist?

    Dealing with people who are trying to tell you how to tattoo and create the work.

    I would like to emphasise to do your own research and study the artist’s work before approaching them!

    I always make it very clear on how I would approach the tattoo and clients should be clear of my body of works before arranging an appointment to discuss. I believe its both parties’ responsibility to understand and trust one another.

    Is there a story behind one of your tattoos that you like to share with us?

    My sleeves are done as a reminder to myself that there is no turning back.

    Rather than focusing on my sleeves and any stories behind it, I would love to take this chance and say that it is the huge amount of time invested, the process, the pain and dedication that makes getting a large scale Japanese Irezumi such a endearing experience to share – rather than having trying and finding to input meaning into your tattoo.

    What have you always wanted to do but have yet to find the time for it?

    Thank you for asking this! I have always wanted to try out MMA ever since I was a kid but my parents were against it and now I do not have the time and commitment for it.

    If you can have a super power, what will it be?

    I would love to fly! To be able to able to enjoy amazing sceneries from a bird’s eye view would definitely be super amazing.

    Are you more of a morning person or night owl?

    I would pick night but a good cup of ice coffee solves the problem!

    What turns you off on a date?

    It’s been quite awhile since I’ve gone out on a date (laughs). If I have to pick, I would say turning up late.

    How did your interest in being a tattoo artist start?

    When I was 14, me and my friend found a guy who started to make tattoos by a DIY tattoo machine. Instead of a needle there was a guitar string. It was sooo interesting. So I did it – my first tattoo! I’m in loved and asked my mother to buy tattoo stuff for me. I can persuade reeeally good and she did it! So I started tattooing since I was 14.

    Which is the most challenging tattoo you have done so far?

    You know, every tattoo it’s like a small challenge for me. But this piece is one of my favorite. This is her first tattoo! You can translate the letter like “Humanity”

    Do you have any hobbies or interests?

    Charity and photography! Two of my passions that make me happy. It’s very contrasting and I like it even more. That’s really funny when you are volunteering at a rehabilitation camp for children who had cancer and then you go to the shooting for SuicideGirls.

    If you could learn anything in this world, what will it be?

    Languages! Cause I’m in love with people and I really would like to be able to understand everyone on Earth. And I hate any borders.

    What is the best compliment you have received?

    Ahah I think it was a compliment about my music playlist! Best compliment ever.

    Which flavor best describes you?

    Oh, coconut! For about five years now I have been using the same perfume. My friends wonder how I can wear the same perfume for so many years. But this has long been part of my image.

    What is a funny or lame attempt a guy has tried to get to know you?

    I don’t know why, but usually guys are afraid to make any attempts to me ahah.

    And I’m really shy in real life. So I haven’t had any funny stories.
