Content Creator & Graphic Designer Ruth Azenath Yap

I’m Ruth Azenath Yap, currently a student taking up Art Studies in University of the Philippines. I started exploring the things I like doing a lot last year and now I am a content creator, social media manager and a graphic designer who is based in the Philippines.

What inspires your fashion style and where do you love to shop from?

My fashion style is actually inspired a lot by my friends. I have tons of friends who are also in the field of arts and most of the time…they would put up an outfit for me! Me and my friends love thrift shopping a lot which also led us to open our own Instagram thrift shop last year.

How much of a foodie are you and what are your favorites?

I looove food so much. I think desserts have a special place in my heart. I can skip all my meals but I can never skip on dessert. I love eating ice cream and gelato the most! If you would also consider coffee a part of this, I think coffee will win over my heart.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

As an art student. my hobby is actually drawing and writing. Although I rarely write nowadays. Some of my other hobbies are singing, playing the guitar and doing random photoshoots.

Which 3 things do you recommend every tourist to experience in the city you live in?

Theree of the things I recommend for tourists to experience are all inside Intramuros in Manila. They should go around Intramuros and experience the different food, the architecture and the culture inside it as it really gives you a glimpse of how things used to be.

Have you been in an embarrassing situation that is funny now when looking back?

I cannot really think of anything for this, except for the times I would always bump when riding in a jeepney back then. My height is 5’10 by the way, so whenever I will ride or go down from a jeep, I would always always bump my head on the ceiling!

If you could learn anything in this world, what will it be?

If I could learn anything in this world, I would really love to learn how to not give a damn about what other people think about me. I know that a lot of us struggle with this, and learning this would just make life so much more lighter.

What do you not get about guys?

I just do not get how you can send them a text with multiple important points, but the only one they’ll reply to is the least important question you were asking.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Azen. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?

I would define sexy as being comfortable in the things that you love wearing.

  • Social Media & the Evolution of Porn

Social Media & the Evolution of Porn

On September 2017, when Hugh Hefner died, the future of Playboy was at best uncertain. In its heyday, Playboy sold 7.2 million copies a month.

Today, the magazine has just been re-launched as an ad-free quarterly and it’s unrecognizable from the magazine that Hugh founded.

The reason is, surprisingly, not political correctness, but an acknowledgment that paper simply can no longer compete with the internet.

The simple fact is that anyone can access free porn on the web, whenever they want.

But, in a compelling, almost magical twist and testimony to the vision of Hugh, porn actors have found a way to evolve and utilize the internet.

Instead of becoming extinct, social media is actually creating opportunities for porn stars to shine, they simply need to adopt a new approach.

    The Top 50 Porn Influencers

Take a look at the infographic above you’ll see that porn isn’t just alive, it’s flourishing.

This snapshot of the porn industry is based on Twitter followers in 2019 and illustrates just how willing people are to pay for porn; you just need to supply them with the right image.

When you look at the list you’ll see more than a few recognizable names.

For bios on each influencer check out the original article “Top 50 social media influencers in porn“, which includes the latest follower numbers and links to their respective twitter accounts.

So how have they done it?

These are people who developed direct relationships with consumers and have discovered how to provide a unique service.

Their earnings have the potential to surpass anything possible through conventional channels.

But, what is perhaps most impressive is that the majority of the ones that made the list are individuals.

Social media has allowed these individuals to give their consumers exactly what they want, even if this is not the traditional mainstream porn offerings.

This is the real evolution of porn that has been enabled by social media and the internet. Thanks to the ease of access to consumers, it’s now acceptable to produce niche porn.

So Who Is In The Top 50?

At the very top spot, you’ll probably recognize the name Brazzers, one of the top production companies in the industry. It proves there is still room for commercialization in any industry.

But, the real winners are the porn stars, there are 38 female porn stars on a list of 50!

Coupled with this you’ll find just 1 male porn star, 1 affiliate website, 1 Tube site, 2 adult-themed events and 2 adult news websites. There are just 5 pornographic production companies on the list.

Interestingly, despite the re-launch of Playboy magazine suggesting a move away from porn, another part of the Playboy family, Playboy Plus, has made it onto the list.

They may be in 28th position but it proves there is still life in the old bunny.

You may also be intrigued by the fact that the only male porn star comes in at 37.

Jordi is Spanish but, what is most impressive is that he’s only been in the porn industry since 2013 and, when he started on YouTube in 2017 he gained over a million subscribers in less than 2 months.

Perhaps this is not completely a female orientated industry anymore.

Some extra facts you may like:

Nicolette Shea may be number 2 on the list but she was more of a tomboy as a child, enjoying hiking and fishing with her dad.

I dare say there would be more people hiking if they were able to follow her.

Pornhub has grabbed the number 3 slot and clearly is in a commanding industrial position.

But, they are also interested in sending porn actresses into space and they donate to cancer research every year, which should help you feel better about watching.

Sara Jay has produced 50 Shades of Sara Jay and it goes a little further than the original movie. She has also confessed to being a nerd at school, comparing herself to ‘Darlene’ in the ‘Roseanne’ show.

    Final Thoughts

Social media is playing an important part in the evolution of porn and this looks set to continue.

As long as people want to see porn and have a fetish or two, they’ll be a willing porn star to look after them.

  • Dating & social media, do they fit?

Dating & social media, do they fit?

By now, almost everyone has Facebook, Twitter, Keek, Instagram, Vine, etc.  So, with all these social media outlets, how does it fair in love?  I personally feel like social media has taken over our lives.  When you are friends with the guy or girl you are seeing, you scour their Facebook activity to see who is commenting the most on their statuses, and if they are of the opposite sex.  It’s something many do, but beware, because this may cause an issue with your new mate.

I have stayed away from being friends with my partner on Facebook.  I know most would say by my doing this, I will automatically cause a trust issue for my mate, but I don’t feel that it should cause a trust issue.  I am trying to prevent the jealousy issue people have when they see men comment or like my status, and I have no problem showing my partner my Facebook page when we are together.

I’ve seen so many relationships end because of a comment someone made on a Facebook status.  No one can control what other people put on their Facebook or Twitter so there is no reason to get upset over every little comment!  Now, if your mate responds in a flirty fashion, then you can tell your partner you’re not okay with what they put as a response.

I think social media has made things harder for people to date, and married couples are now making a Facebook page with both of their names, which to me is a waste of time.  Why create a new page?  That is just time consuming and everyone on your Facebook should know you are married already.  And if they don’t, then those people aren’t privy to your life and shouldn’t have access to it anyway.

I’ve known couples where one has Facebook and the other does not.  I think this is the best way to go.  Men will always be flirty with women regardless if they know they are with someone or not.  I am not sure why this is so, but for me, I have always just said thank you or whatever generic response is needed for that situation.  I know that not all people will do what I do with regards to Facebook, but the important part is that both parties agree to how social media sites are used.  Which brings me to subliminal messages on social media.

There are also people who fall victim to social media.  I have been a victim of social media and I know a lot of other people who have been victims from it as well.  Everyone knows about the Facebook subliminal messaging; people use these after a break up or if they are angry at someone.  When this occurs, your entire friends list and anyone who has ever liked the status will now know you have issues in your relationship.  I plead everyone to stop doing this!  It’s unnecessary and annoying.  I don’t want to know that your boyfriend didn’t take out the trash and that you are pissed, and I don’t think anyone else cares that he or she forgot the Sweetest Day (which I did this year, sue me it’s not on my calendar)!

Social media will always be here.  There is no turning back, but please use it carefully, and remember not to use it when you have been drinking.  Even if you delete a status the day after, you have put it up for the world to see and everyone has already seen it by the time you delete it.  So please put the phone down while you are drinking or angry.  I have told everyone I know that when you are mad, write down what you want to say then wait an hour and go back and look at it.  After you go back and look at it, you will see that while being angry, you are most likely saying the same thing over and over again but in a different ways.

Since social media will be here for years to come and we have learned new things about people we never wanted to know, remember this — it is hard to remove a comment or status even after it has been removed.  Everyone’s cell phone and computer signals update at different times, and you may not see that status any longer because you are the one who deleted it, but trust me my friend, many others have seen this update, even when you no longer can.

I hope this has been helpful, and happy Facebooking!
