Hi Melanie it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy. Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?
My name is Melanie Winther, I am 21 years old and I’m from Norway! I work as a professional model and cosplayer.

How did your interest in cosplay begin?
It all started from when I was 12 years old, I only have brothers who both are nerds. Which makes it quite normal that I am also a gamer. And yeah I loved the characters design and always wanted to look like them haha. So it all started from there.

What else do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy playing computer games and going to the gym! I raid 3 times a week on the game called “World of Wacraft”. My main is a Human Warlock, I also try to stream every now and then on my twitch channel. I always think it’s really important for me to communicate with my followers every now and then.

Are you much of a gamer?
Oh yes! I am, I am really dedicated to when it comes to gaming. I got some kind of obsession I guess, that I want to clear the game 100% and I really want to get good at games. I am quite the competition type, always wanting to be one of the high ranked people. So I usually spend a lot of time playing games. But since it’s quite time consuming to get good on every game, I usually only stick to a few games like World of Warcraft, League of Legends and Overwatch so far.
Has there been a funny or embarrassing episode that has happened to you or you witnessed that you can share when cosplaying?
Hmm.. I got a pretty bad memory but I actually quite found it funny when I cross dressed as Squall Leonhart from Final Fantasy 8, and some girl approached me and started flirting with me and then she found out I was a female later and not a real male haha.

What is the most challenging aspect of cosplay?
I think there’s a lot of challenging aspects in cosplay, like it’s quite expensive over the time in material costs, travel expenses, cons, etc. And the cosplay community as I have felt during the years is that it’s quite filled with elitists. I feel a lot of people actually forget the whole purpose of cosplaying, that it’s suppose to be a fun thing and not everyone actually takes it serious. I get so sad when I see some people talk shit just because a person is not wearing the right wig or whatever for the certain character for example! Or if that person haven’t made her/his entire costume! Come on people, behave…

Which characters are you looking to cosplay in future?
My cosplay list to do is always so long! The thing with me is that I always have to cosplay characters that I am having a “crush” on. So I actually cosplay alot of men haha, so far I am working on Reaper from Overwatch. And in the future I would love to cosplay Jhin from League of Legends.

Have you had any admirers or guys hitting on you while you are in character?
Yeah, it’s quite normal actually. I don’t mind talking to them and having a chat, but when things get a bit too much I am not afraid to let them know that.

Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions Melanie. One question before we end, how do you define “sexy”?
I define sexy as having the confidence. It is really important to believe in yourself and feel comfortable. I also find intelligence and originality quite sexy.
