What To Know About Pansexuality

I’m definitely not one to put a label on others, but the best way I would describe my own sexual preference would be as pansexual.  I hear others describe themselves as Bi-curious, or Bi-sexual quite often. So when I tell people that I identify as pansexual you can imagine the looks I get.  Then once I explain myself in more detail, I can see the reactions change to being more accepting.

What Being Pansexual Means

To me, being pansexual allows me to keep an open mind. I don’t always want just one thing. Some days I roll out of bed and I may prefer the company of a CIS male, and fantasize all day about him dominating me. Or I may see a trans female in some porn I’m watching and want to top her.  Btw, I watch a LOT of porn, so I think that has contributed to my diverse sexuality.

How I Began Identifying As Pansexual

For the longest time I didn’t know what to call it. I just knew I was different than most. I kept it hidden for a long time. But sometime after college I began exploring other avenues of sex. Sometimes I would stop by a local adult bookstore unannounced,  dressed en femme.  The positive reaction I received from men always aroused me. It all began there. Not long after I started dating men, along with females and the occasional trans woman. Once it started I knew it wouldn’t stop, it’s just who I was.

Bisexual vs Pansexual

Pansexuals may find themselves attracted to transgendered males or females.  While a bisexual person may only find themselves attracted to a genetic male or female. I knew I wasn’t bisexual as soon as I met my first transsexual woman. We hit it off and saw each other several times.

Misconceptions About Pansexuality

One of the biggest misconceptions that people have about pansexuality, is that they think we don’t have any standards, or that we will have sex with anyone at anytime. And that is just not the case.  While I do enjoy a high sex drive, there are still qualities that I look for in each gender that I find attractive. Being pansexual still allows me to be selective while having more choices for sex.
