6 Tips To Stop Snoring & Save Your Sex Life

We all know that snoring is aggravating and can sometimes have a negative impact on your sex life. You might also feel helpless or like you’re stuck. Don’t call it quits yet, though, because there are some things you can try in order to stop the snoring and get your sex life back on track.

Anti-Snoring Devices

The first thing you could try are various anti-snoring devices. There are so many devices on the market and they aren’t all made the same. Even if it’s the same type of product, you might have better chance with one over the other. The two most common devices are anti-snore pillows and mouthpieces. While there are the basic products, there are also some that have more advanced features. For instance, there are pillows that have adjustable height and hardness and there are mouthpieces that mimic your exact bite. These types are better than one size fits all because they are customized to you.

Stay Away from Alcohol Before Bed

Another great tip is to stay away from alcohol before bed. The main reason is because alcohol will relax the muscles and your throat wall will be too relaxed and loose. This means that there’s more chance of vibrations, which cause snoring. If you want to have some kind of alcohol, try to stop drinking a few hours before you lay down. This will help ensure that the relaxation of your throat won’t be as bad and you’ll have less chance of snoring.

Lose Excess Weight

You or your spouse could also try losing any excess weight. When you are overweight, the neck muscles can become bulky and large. This can lead to snoring because everything is all squished up and there isn’t enough room for the air to get through the way it needs to. Often times, when you lose some weight, the muscles in your neck will slim down and help ensure that everything isn’t pushed together. This will make it so the air can easily pass through and cause less vibrations. This doesn’t always work because some people just have larger throats, but it’s definitely worth a try!

Keep the Bedroom Moist

When you sleep in a room that’s dry, your mouth and nasal passages will dry out. When these areas are dry, you have a higher chance of snoring. This can be combated by leaving a window open or putting a dehumidifier in your room. Both of these will give enough moisture to stop you from drying out, but not so much that you’re constantly wet.

Sleep On the Side

Another thing you or your significant other can do is try sleeping on the side. This is one of the best ways to stop snoring. When you lay on your back, your tongue can fall backwards and prevent that air from moving easily. If you’ve tried sleeping on your side but find that you always end up on your back, there are a few things you can try. For starters, try putting a pillow behind you so you don’t roll. You can also add one in front of you so you stay in the same position.

Try Using Mint Based Essential Oils

The final thing you can try is mint based essential oils. Since there are several mint based oils, you have the chance to try them all. Two of the most common ones are peppermint and wintergreen. All you have to do is put it into a diffuser or mister and let it run all night. The mint will help keep your passages clear and let the air easily pass through. If you don’t have essential oils, you can try and find mint products, like vapor rub, and go to sleep with it under your nose. This will have the same effect as letting the mister or diffuser run all night.
