Hi Ashley it is a pleasure to feature you on SimplySxy.  Please share with our readers a little about yourself and where you’re from?

Hi! I’m Ashley Stanga and I’m from Olive Branch Mississippi. My husband’s name is Chris, and we have three boys: Austin, Landon and Colton.

What inspired you to start your own company, My Fantasy Hair?

Well about almost 7 years ago, my husband and I owned a fence company and we had just been married. I was expecting our first child soon and I had some extra time while he was out working. It was hard watching him go out with the crew and work long hours in the hot sun and doing such hard labor. My husband has owned several businesses throughout his life, and has a lot of business experience. I started to notice that there was not a lot of clip-in hair extension companies online at that time.

After buying a set of my own extensions from a well-known brand, I wasn’t happy with the quality. I also noticed that other people were not happy with the quality of hair they were receiving from these brands as well, so I quickly started researching suppliers overseas to see where there may be a better quality option. I was inspired to start MFH for these reasons, but also to build a much better life for my family. My husband and I closed the fence company, and with his business experience and my creativity we have built an online company we are very proud of.

Which were some of the challenges you faced when building your company and brand?

We have faced every challenge imaginable! Lol. We have owned small businesses in the past, but an online business was completely new to us. We have had to learn everything on our own, and have done everything on our own. I built our website myself from scratch in the beginning, and we actually started this business with “rolled change” from a bucket in the closet. We sure have come a long way since then. It’s crazy now to think about. I think the most challenging events you face when building an online business are the ones you can not control.

Website goes down for a day, hackers, emails won’t load properly.. etc. When everything is through a computer, so many things can go wrong, and you better have a way to fix it immediately. Fortunately through trial and error over the years, we have a back-up plan for the back-up plan so that we avoid any of these things from happening. It just happens in the first year or two of operations, but you learn how to prepare ahead of time. So we are definitely prepared now!

Are you able to share some of your all-time favorite or popular hair extensions?

Yes, we recently released our Ombré extensions in 5 new shades.. And they are stunning!

Also we have recently released our Virgin Extensions. And “Virgin Hair” just refers to pure human hair that has not been color treated. This hair type is in its purest, original form. This allows the extensions to be colored by the customer much more easily if they wish to. It is much easier to add color to human hair that has never been color treated, rather than adding color to hair that has recently been colored. All of our hair extensions are 100% pure Remy human hair. To gain their color dye is added, but our Virgin line has not had color added.

What is a typical day like for you?

My work day starts by taking my 6 year old to school, he is in the first grade. Then I do some cleaning around the house. I usually work from my home office, which is great so I can stay home with my 5 year old. He is not in school just yet, he will be starting this fall. The rest of my day is tending to our website, maintenance, and brushing up on some improvements in advertising. We have some big things coming, and we are very excited!

How do you spend your free time?

Any free time I have, I’m spending it with my husband and my boys. A great day for me is a rainy day laying on the couch with them watching movies. When we go out we like to do things outdoors like fishing, 4-wheeler riding, vacations, road trips, and taking the kids to do things that they like.

Is there something you have always wanted to do but haven’t found the time?

Traveling is difficult with the little ones. My husband and I have wanted to take a vacation out of the country together for a long time. We don’t have someone to watch the boys and make sure Landon gets to school, but we are working on that so we can travel outside the U.S. soon. I just got back from a cruise not long ago, but unfortunately wasn’t able to take Chris with me. So hopefully we can get away soon.

If you could have a superpower, what will it be?

Super power.. Lol! I want to fly. Then I could take that vacation wherever and whenever I wanted..

“Confidence.”
